Hamburger Steak with rice ans Mac salad from K & M Drive Inn

I pucked up a plate for lunch 8/25. Got home, sat down to have my lunch. First impressions: gravy way to dark, onions were humungous, salad had slightly too much mayo, plenty rice. Took a bite of the patty and got hit with a lot of salt. Then tasted the gravy, gravy was way more saltier. Salad was okay, just a bit too much mayo and a bit bland. It was just macaroni and mayo. Not planning to order this again. Their Pho is really good though.

Located in Kalihi on mokauea st, next to Alicia Market you can order outside take out or go inside to order. I ordered the ox tail soup they had vegetables and a few ox tail and with rice it was good size and the broth was different and tasty and the ox tail was tender. My wife had the papaya soup and she didn't care for it, she said the soup was more like Pho. The other plate was Patai and was enjoyed it and said it was very good & tasty. The garlic shrimp & steak was good and tasty and the shrimp was cleaned with no veins. No restrooms and air conditioning was faint Parking is limited and shared by other shops, Also there is street parking.

After reading Auntie Nadine.C and Irene.M review on K&M Drive inn . I had to check them out . Since I was in the area this morning around 5:00am lots of parking and no customers in line Yay! I decided to order their Breakfast Bento . It was well worth it for only $6.70 it came with scrambled eggs, Portuguese sausage, Spam, Vienna sausage and little smokies on white rice . I'm telling you cannot go wrong . They also sell plate lunches as well . They have a dinning room area next to their Take out window . Support local

Breakfast deals... It's the tricky spots that do give you the deals and when you plan it right it can really be the spot that takes great care of you. K&M is in Kalihi right next to Alicia's and they do have some parking but going early is suggested as any other alternative parking can be difficult. Arriving here my very first time I did get lucky with parking and did notice through the window various premade breakfast bentos though you can make your own choices and prices reflect on the different amount of choices you make is nice especially if you just want a specific bite. I just the "Breakfast Bento" and at $6.50 I wasn't prepared for the volume I'd receive as it has four types of breakfast meats (spam, Portuguese sausage, Vienna sausage and little smokies) and scrambled eggs and rice all packed and ready to go. Love the vibe, friendly staff, and convenience but the price makes it so much nice, a super easy drive with some parking and apparently some inside seating as well is super nice if I ever have the time marking it a great breakfast spot. Thank you!

First visit and I normally would not write a review until the second or third time. K & M Drive Inn is on Mokauea Street- Kalihi Kai - next door to Alicia's Market. It was formerly a Korean takeout eatery. Their self-attested specialies are their Oxtail Soup and grab-n-go bentos. I requested their breakfast plate special. For under $6 you get 1 choice of meat and rice with 2 eggs, your preference. I substituted the meat with 2 more eggs as the cashier was very accommodating. Also, got the Thai Iced Tea with lime. The lime was at the suggestion of the cashier that helped me...it was excellent. Well priced food and drinks that are made to order, with the additional convenience of bentos as well as excellent service...and this eatery is a bargain. Parking stalls front the business and shops in the building - about 10 stalls. A small dining area is available along with a condiment area.

Breakfast in Kalihi, Honolulu, Hawaii... My friend asked me where I was going to eat today... I searched my Yelp app and told her that we should go to K & M Drive Inn because they're a Hot New Business... she agreed! Located next to Alicia's Market, parking right in front of the restaurant was open! Yay! When we left, the free parking stalls were full because the line outside of Alicia's was long! So - if you visit on a weekend, go early! My friend said that she wanted a "snack" and ended up ordering a HBS (Hamburger Steak) with macaroni salad. I thought: "That sounds good - except for the macaroni salad". I ordered HBS with a green salad. Service at the window was efficient and friendly. The woman even brought my order to me at our table. My friend went to the window and picked up her own takeout box. Yes... there are tables and chairs for dining-in. At first, it felt warm - even though the fan was on. Later, I could feel the cooler air. We sat near the open front door. I think the man watching the TV monitor was the cook. He was watching cooking videos and some movies. He and the cashier woman thanked us for coming! It's a clean, OG style spot. It's too bad that everyone is going next door. K & M wasn't crowded on a Saturday morning. We enjoyed our HBS plates! My friend said it reminded her of her dad's meatloaf! The hamburger patties are soft and homemade. The onions and gravy made the hamburger yummier. The green onion garnish was a nice touch! My green salad was crisp and fresh! I'd return again!

A true hidden gem, best bang for your buck. Can't go wrong, the food is delicious and generous portion size.

Great tasting foods, super nice service from mother & daughter duo. There's a small AC'd seating area, (2) 4 tops, (1) 3 top, and (1) 2-3 top tables that's clean and comfortable. All tables were full while we were there (1215-115pm, on a Tuesday). We've been back at least every other week if not weekly. Love that I can bring my own dishes and utensils to use to save from using the takeout containers. Great food for an even better price, which is pretty hard to find these days.

I got to try the fry pork ribs plate for $10.95 and they gave a lot and it tasted so good. I got to eat my lunch and saved the rest for dinner. The ladies working here are so friendly and nice to make everything a lot nicer. This is definitely a hidden gem.

Oxtail Soup for $15.95 what a deal

Another Hidden Gem here in Kalihi at K&M Drive Inn in Kalihi next to Alicia's Market. They've only been open for just over a month but I think I have found my Go To Place for some really good Oxtail Soup at a very affordable and reasonable price. This Oxtail Soup is loaded with 4 nice sized Oxtails and for the $15.95 price you can't go wrong. Love the strong presence of Star Anise and love the Veggies and Mushrooms throughout the Soup. It also comes with Freshly Grated Ginger as well. I also had the Fried Chicken Plate which came with 7 pieces of Chicken Wings with Rice and Mac Salad for $10.95. It was good but not as delicious as the Oxtail Soup here at K&M They even have Breakfast and Lunch Bento's for only $6.50 amd Huge Musubi's for only $2. They do Take Out or Dine in but I would dine in because they have all the condiments for your Pho and other items. Love the vibe here and the lady who took my order was very pleasant. Now the only knock on this place is not the place itself but the parking situation itself especially on the weekdays. The parking here is very limited because it's in a industrial area so trying to find parking here is like trying to find an Oxtail Soup that won't run you over $25 Give this hidden gem in a try everyone. I'm definitely coming back for the Oxtail Soup but also the Chicken Papaya is on my radar as well. Support Local Businesses Everyone

If you're looking for authentic Lao food, this place definitely delivers. We ordered the Soop Noor Mai (bamboo shoot salad), Lao-style Som Tum, Beef Red Curry with jasmine rice, and Seen Haeng (beef jerky). The standout dish for me was the Soop Noor Mai. It was unlike anything I've had before, with an earthy, herbaceous flavor and plenty of texture from the shredded bamboo shoots, toasted rice powder, fresh herbs, and greens. Every bite had something different going on, making it both interesting and deeply satisfying. The Lao-style papaya salad was fresh, vibrant, and packed with bold flavors. The beef red curry was rich, creamy, and fragrant with tender beef that paired perfectly with the jasmine rice. The only dish that missed the mark for me was the Seen Haeng. While the flavor was good, the beef was cooked a little too long and ended up drier than I prefer. I personally like Lao beef jerky with a bit more tenderness and chew. Everything else was excellent, and the relaxing garden setting made the experience even better. If you're craving authentic Lao cuisine in Honolulu, Olay's is well worth a visit. I'll definitely be back to explore more of their menu.

This, however, will probably be my first and last visit. The place is cute enough, with a large back garden area where I chose to dine. Service was also great. I appreciate the little button at the table that I could click for service. The food, however, was mediocre at best. My friend and I ordered the pad Thai with tofu, ginger chicken, chicken satay, and pork larb. The pad Thai was the best dish, but it was very tomatoey, which I did not expect. The chicken with ginger had very little chicken. It was mostly julienned vegetables, including celery which I do not care for. The chicken satay was kinda dry and most certainly needed the peanut sauce to make it palatable. The larb was very dry with very bland flavor, served on one lettuce leaf and a wedge of cabbage. How am I supposed to eat that? All of it was quite disappointing, especially for the price point. As I was eating this meal I remembered the Thai food truck at the end of Ward, where Fisherman's Pier used to be. Now THAT was some good Thai food. I guess that was the best thing about this meal-remembering where I could get really good Thai food-so that the next time I'm having a craving, I can go back over there...I hope it's still there.

We couldn't decide what to eat until my wife finally said, "Let's go get Thai food at that place my sister and I tried about a month ago." I responded with a "K we go." I figured they were probably getting ready to close, but we lucked out, Siam Garden Café is now open until 10:00 p.m. on Sundays! Awwwwwriiite...!. Since it was later in the evening, there were only a few tables filled, so we were seated right away and had plenty of time to check out the menu. My wife already knew exactly what she wanted--the Thai Beef Salad. I had my eye on the Thai Fried Chicken, and we added an order of Pad Kee Mao (Drunken Noodles). We requested it mild spicy--and definitely not Thai spicy, because we know better! There were a couple other things we wanted to try but we didn't want to overdo it with just the two of us. The food came out fast. First the Drunken Noodles, and wow... that was ono. The thick, chewy noodles reminded me a little of a chow/look fun, tossed in a a sauce with tender beef. Every bite was packed with flavor. Next came the Thai Beef Salad and the Thai Fried Chicken. The salad had that classic tangy dressing with vinegar and fish sauce that paired perfectly with the beef. If I had one small kine suggestion, it would be to add just a little more beef, but the flavors were on point. The fried chicken was cooked to crispy perfection--lightly seasoned so you could actually taste the chicken. Dipped into the Thai sweet chili sauce, you know the one, it was the perfect combination of crunchy, savory, and sweet. Even though we were pretty full, there was no way we were not going to order dessert. We shared the Mango Sticky Rice, which was the perfect sweet and tart ending to a great meal. Last but not least, one Thai iced coffee to go. Yeah it's late but wanted to stay up and binge watch a couple of episodes of a K-drama, don't judge. Overall, Siam Garden Café delivered. Great food, friendly service, quick turnaround, and now with later Sunday hours, it's an even better option when those late-night Thai cravings hit. We'll definitely be back to work our way through the rest of the menu.

We got settled in our booth and looked over the menu. Collectively, we ordered/shared: Spicy Eggplant Pad Thai with shrimp Papaya Salad Siam Jungle Curry with chicken Steamed Fish with Soy Sauce I honestly couldn't decide which dish was my favourite, as I thought they were all a generous portion and flavorful. My mom complimented the eggplant and steamed fish repeatedly, and while I also favoured the eggplant, I found myself gravitating to the curry throughout the meal. My SIL also liked the fish and eggplant, while my brother had many good things to say about the pad Thai. We did take some leftovers home, and as we packed up the food I wondered to myself why I hadn't returned to SGC sooner. SERVICE The staff friendly, patient, and very polite.
