Yet, I wanted to get other estimates. Trying the "warehouse" companies either they didn't show up or their pricing was definitely on the high side. I finally came to my senses and arranged an estimate with COLEMAN ELECTRIC. The owner (Greg) came over within a couple of days. He was professional, informative, and friendly. He listened to my concerns and presented a plan and generator to power the entire house (GENERAC 24kw). The plans were better than expected. A couple weeks later the generator was installed, inspected, and up and running. ALL of COLEMAN ELECTRIC employees were knowledgeable and informative. I would ask questions throughout the installation which were completely answered. Since then we've had one power outage and the generator worked like a charm! *With my recommendation, I've had 2 neighbors install generators with COLEMAN ELECTRIC. On Mar 5, Steven added an overhead light and 8 puck lights to our office/den closet and linked it with a wall switch just outside the closet. Stephen suggested putting the puck lights in a different place than we had originally considered, which made the puck light fixture almost invisible while providing all the light. On Mar 11, Joe added a wall switch to the other side of the closet and hard-wired three security cameras. I strongly recommend against using KD Electric. I hired them to do some fairly simple rewiring of…read moreour home: replacing a junction box and adding one circuit for a new 120V outlet. They wound up shorting one of the hot lines to neutral, which caused 240V to be supplied to 120V circuits. This caused an electrical fire by overloading multiple transformers. If I had not been near one of the transformers when the electrical service was restored, our home quite literally could have burned down. The result was heavy smoke damage and multiple appliances needing to be replaced. Even though a forensic expert was sent to our home by our insurance agency who confirmed KD's negligence, they have refused to cover the expenses for the smoke mitigation and appliance replacements.

I was very pleased with the work and overall experience. The owner and his sons were professional,…read morefriendly, and easy to work with. He was the only contractor who took the time to come to my home beforehand to assess the job and clearly explain what needed to be done. I agreed with his plan, and they completed the work exactly as outlined. After the job was completed, an unexpected electrical issue came to light that was completely unrelated to the original job. A staple that held a wire in the attic above the garage had been stepped on, which brought attention to a larger underlying problem. I initially noticed my garage door opening slowly and thought it was running on battery power. When I checked the garage outlets, they appeared to be off. I contacted the owner, and he immediately returned to investigate. While the stepped-on wire staple wasn't ultimately the root cause, it helped uncover a more serious issue: the wiring connected to my doorbell transformer had melted, likely due to problems from the original home construction. This could have become a fire hazard, so I'm actually grateful the issue was discovered when it was. They fixed everything quickly and professionally. Although there was a service call charge, I completely understood it since the issue turned out not to be related to their original work. What mattered most to me was how responsive and thorough they were in resolving the problem. This is a great company that does quality work. I appreciated their professionalism, their honesty, and even the friendly conversations along the way. I would absolutely recommend them.

He told me he would be out Friday, Jan. 23rd at 9am. Well, he was a no show and no call or text. I waited at home all day just in case he was running late but never heard a word. This is not a great way to do business. I manage other properties and always have work that needs to be done but I won't be wasting time with Amigo Electric. Since Friday, I found the name of the company I used before that was awesome, so I will be calling them in to fix the issues. This may have been a one time issue but it does not look well for the way they do business. This project was on Arboleda in South Reno.
