Ended up here on a road trip, hadn't seen K-Bobs since I was a kid. I had a horrible toothache and we had to work around that. They gave me tea and bread pudding without question. So kind. This review is specifically aimed at the Raton K-Bob's. My wife and I love K-Bob's. We have been on several roadtrips specifically to eat at a K-Bob's. This was our first - and last - experience at the Raton location. Three in our party and the only decent food item was fried mushrooms. I had the Cowboy steak, a 'one pound' ribeye. I intended to share it with the others, but none of us tried a second bite. Mind you it tasted fine and was cooked medium as requested. Other than that, it was garbage. It actually hurt my teeth to chew it. I've never seen so much gristle in any meat. It was an effort to cut. Suffice it to say, it wasn't a pound. The baked potatoes were not fully cooked and each came with more butter than ten potatoes could handle. It was disgusting. The soups were Pozole and pinto beans. The Pozole was acceptable, but not special and needed salt. The pinto beans were lukewarm and utterly tasteless. I was so confused that I got a second bowl after stirring it up. Nope. It was made with water and zero seasoning. Unreal that pinto beans could be screwed up. Oddly the whole debacle was presaged by the manager. When we walked in there was a sign with the specials. One was a hilariously misspelled blackened catfish. So much so that I asked what the mystery dish was. The fine lady of meager learning said it was 'just a blackened catfish' with a normal pronunciation - not one inspired by the spelling. So just to clarify, I asked 'oh so you just blacken the catfish' semi-rhetorically. Then I got an answer that should have sent us to Denny's. 'Oh no! We grill the catfish and then rub on a black seasoning mix that colors the fish. We never blacken it on purpose!' This was followed by a laugh that told me I was pitiably uncultured. My twenty years in Louisiana suggest she may be mistaken. Did I mention that there were two lots of identical pea and mayo salad on the salad bar? That wasn't the shocking part. The largest bowl on the salad bar contained a blue Jell-o. Oh and so did another bowl. Maybe I'm wrong, but I doubt there's this much uniquely bizarre demand for blue Jell-o in Raton. Just to round out the experience, the only toilet stall in the men's room was clean, but there was no door latch. That's okay, being greeted by a surprised nine year old while pooping was on my bucket list. In summary, if you're in Raton ... Go to Denny's. read more

Well what can I say.... steak was juicy but over cooked ( when I say medium I mean the whole steak ) I know the folks around these parts may want there steak pure but come on a little garlic an S&P will go along way.... Server friendly but once she saw me on yelp that changed, she stopped at every table and chatted w my CC and CC slip! Then she couldn't get us out fast enough when someone came in to sit in her section. Oh and the plates have been used so long they have groves in them!!! Is that safe? Yikes! read more

I ordered the big ribeye steak medium rare. What i got was a sirloin over cooked to med well. I guess some people don't know their cuts of meat? Waitress was friendly and attentive. "Texas toast" was a joke and was just some breakfast toast that needed some jelly. I wont be coming back to this place. I think they would be out of business if they weren't so close to I-25. The cheese smothered chicken was great! The waitress was nice, and the food came out fast which is nice when traveling. The baked potato was warm, could barely melt the butter. I thought charging .99 for a tablespoon of cheese for the potato was a bit much. read more

We walked in, wearing our Harley Davidson shirts and obviously weary from riding. It took them a long time to seat us then the waitress waited on 3 other tables that were seated after we were. We finally had to call attention to the fact that we needed a waitress. We were quite invisible for awhile. I ordered the New York strip and it was worse than any sirloin I've had. My husband had the ribeye and it wasn't great either. The food wasn't good and was overpriced. The salad bar was $4 extra with any steak. In the future, don't discount the bikers. Most of us are professionals that tip very well for good service. read more

They fried my steak to a crisp. It was stiff and charred and dry as a bone. The only positive thing on my plate was the Texas toast which I don't want to know how they flavored it but it was edible. We had brisket- which was tender but had no smoke taste and sauce was bland, chicken fried chicken-was tough and lacked seasoning, mashed potatoes were real but dry and chicken fried steak- it was dry as well with no seasoning. After a long day of shooting came in here with about 12 starving people. most of us ordered a side of the "world famous salad bar." only to find nothing but an empty pit where lettuce should be. ~20 minutes later things was fixed... someone fell asleep they said. This place!!!! Every time we drive to Colorado we have to stop and eat here. You walk in and are greeted with a smile and personality. You don't get that anymore so it's a true treat. The wait staff are so friendly and the food is amazing!!!! Never had a bad meal there but let me tell you the brisket it OFF THE FRIGGIN HOOK! We ended up here at K-Bobs on a Monday night because there is not much else open in a 25 mile radius. Unfortunately, I did not check here before we went in. I ordered the Beef Brisket and I could not even eat it. I guess once you eat good beef brisket, not much else compares. But it was to well done. It appears they put it on the griddle to warm it up and ends up over cooked. Now my sister got the Fajitas and she enjoyed them. I would recommend going somewhere else if you can find it. read more

We went to have a Steak, onion rings and a salad. All outside seating. It was very hot. No fans. They brought every thing to us outside. To be honest for K-Bobs I was disappointed. The only reason why this would even get one star from me is because the service was so great. I ordered the sirloin steak medium, and it came raw, yes I mean literally raw, inside. They seared the outside then when I cut it open it was cold, dark red and inedible. They took it back and said they would fix it but they did not. It took them 3 times before it was cooked right, but it was tough as rubber by then. My father ordered the rib-eye cooked medium. It was cut so thin and could have just as well been a piece of leather. His baked potato was not done and the salad bar was nothing better than a normal salad bar. Overall, this was the worst steakhouse (if not restaurant) I have ever been to. I would not recommend this to anyone! read more

Not bad, not the best. Covid understandably has everyone in a funk so take this with a grain of salt. The wait wasn't too bad given the amount of people waiting, and the cashier was friendly. No inside seating as of 7/20, but outside tables are plentiful. When our food did come it was room temperature. Luckily we were visiting town and could reheat it in the parking lot but that was kind of a bummer - once it was reheated everything was actually quite good! read more

Definitely not a place we enjoy. The streaks look like those plastic ones that kids play with when they are pretend cooking. I think the one I had may have been previously cooked and then microwaved cuz it was hard to chew and swallow. If you're gonna go here the salad bar is your best bet.
