She loves coffee but it is a rare thing when she finds coffee that she likes. More often than not, we go to a promising coffee shop and it falls short. When my wife's face lit up with a smile after her first sip of her caramel macchiato, I was thrilled! There are few things prettier than my wife smiling from joy or, in this case having a great cup of coffee. Since we were in a chocolate shop, I had to order at least a piece of chocolate. The flavors were all different and quirky but it was the apple caramel that caught my fancy. It didn't disappoint!! The buttermilk old fashioned had a similar greasy flavor and not the tang I'd expect from this type of donut. The Pączki was just a minimally filled jelly donut...and the dough was very greasy. Normally, the dough is more bready and has a more rich flavor. The ones I've always eaten in the past are heavily filled. This place seems like it has potential but it just lacks the quality or personality I'm looking for in a local gem. Nothing was awful but nothing was great either.

K Brew ultimately is not about the coffee. It is the fact that K Brew honors the service to each customer. It has been said that the underlying philosophy of K Brew is to "Love One's Neighbor." To that end , K Brew shines. The tremendous and beautiful coffees they serve are only the vehicle. I sat for several hours here at their Kingston Pike location. My impression is that humans flourish here. Couples strengthen their love for each other. Business people fuel their work here. Students cultivate their calling in life here. Community is strengthened here. On the surface, you notice the excellence of their food and beverages. This isn't just a great neighborhood coffee shop, it's a great coffee shop period. If you're like me and you just like a plain cup of coffee, they have two different roasts each month. I never thought I'd be one of those people who can tell the difference in types of coffee, but K Brew changed my mind. They also have nice quick bites- breakfast sandwiches on the AM, as well as bagels and biscotti. I'm not a huge espresso drink fan, but the ones I've tasted have been really, really good. Mahalo roasts their own beans, and you can absolutely taste the difference. Every cup is smooth, rich, and full of flavor. They also offer great milk options, including Califia Farms almond and oat milk, along with traditional milk, cream, and other alternatives. The drive-thru is quick and convenient, making it easy to grab a coffee on the go, but I highly recommend spending a little time inside because the space is so inviting. Their merchandise is also adorable! The shirts, hats, mugs, and bags of freshly roasted coffee make it hard to leave without taking something home.
