A surprisingly great deal replacing the old Chen's Buffet! I showed up for weekday lunch, which was still quite packed even though we came through after 1pm. We were promptly seated and given a menu. The menu sort of explains their system. For a flat fee, you get a choice of broth for your individual hot pot and a hot tabletop grill to cook on. (It seemed all their individual hot pots here are split, so getting two different types of broth is the way to go-- the waitress did not explain this, so I couldn't take advantage of this). They have buffet tables where you can go up to take plates of meats, seafood, veggies, and other toppings for grilling and hot pot, as well as a good selection of warm ready-to-eat foods and their sushi nigiri and roll spread. The downfall of this model is that Korean-style tabletop bbq and Chinese hot pot both requires a lot of labor. It's difficult to go back and forth between the two. Typically, I grill up my meats and eat that first while I steep veggies and seafood in my hot pot broth. However, because they had a good variety of sushi and hot foods, it was really difficult to juggle everything. I will say that for their meat options, everything seems geared towards the barbecue. The marinated meats and thick steaks are not good options for hot pot. The marinade was ok but definitely not authentic Korean barbecue (but then again, it's silly to expect real Korean kalbi or bulgogi at an AYCE price). The ssamjang was also not great, but they have other sauces and salt-and-pepper are also good options. I've had better hot pot soups, but I love that the split option is possible. I did a spicy broth, and it was indeed mala spicy. The hot pot toppings were plenty. Not sure if it's because they're still in the opening phase, but they were serving crab legs for weekday lunch price, and that alone was worth it. The sushi and hot food options were good too. This was a different experience for me. Typically, the Hot Pots that I have tried the raw food is brought to you. This was different. You actually select your food and bring it back to your table. The spicy pork belly was delicious. There I Hot Pot and a BBQ station at each table. There is also a large section of cooked foods such as ribs, fried rice, and fried dough. I'll preface this review by saying, I can see the appeal for some people, but for me, there's too much happening. K-City BBQ has AYCE hotpot, KBBQ, and sushi, but its a bit quantity over quality here. Nothing is particularly excellent, and the hotpot options were especially lackluster in my opinion. The KBBQ meats were probably best, followed by select sashimi pieces. K-City does have split pot hotpot, allowing for a choice of two broths; I chose the herbal and the spicy. Both broths have potential, but needed a good sprinkling of salt for sure. As a fellow reviewer mentioned, the overall experience is a bit overwhelming. Considering that you need at least 3 different plates to get a bit of each kind of food, the table very quickly fills up. I almost feel bad for their dishwasher, and their servers are constantly having to clear away plates. Again, for the given price point, it's definitely worth it for some. My boyfriend and I couldn't eat much and we were a little frazzled by all the choices, so this wasn't the best for us. I am very picky when it comes to hot pot and Korean BBQ. I have eat at some of best AYCE over the years and this easily is in the top 5. Decor and lighting is important. The place does not feel dated and not dismal or dreary. It's bright and "happy". There is a nice modern feeling to the place and I appreciate that. The tables and floors are not sticky or grimey. It's clean. A big point for me when eating out. Food is obvious. It is fresh and tasty. The manager is walking around tasting the food and checking temperatures. That is very reassuring. The crab legs were always well stocked versus some places that brings a little bit out every 15 minutes. No bait and switch here. The meats are nice cuts and not overly fatty. You're not leaving here with an aftertaste. Some places over salt their food so you drink more and eat less. Food is seasoned by YOU to taste. Lastly my service was awesome. The young lady changed my plates frequently, refilled my soda without asking. Changed my grill whenever it got a little dark and added more broth whenever it ran low. We had the best time tonight! Decided to try it last minute for my birthday. Tommy is the nicest waiter I've ever encountered, really treated us like friends. When we arrived we were seated right away around 8pm. He took our drink order and walked us around the buffet. He showed us what was where even down to the sauce bowls and extra utensils. They have a HUGE variety of meats which were delicious. Being our first Korean Bbq/hotpot experience, Tommy helped us start out with the hot plate which was even swapped for a clean one between uses. I have had K-City BBQ bookmarked for few months but didn't think it was worth bringing my small children as they literally only eat noodles. LOL. When I found out about their awesome lunch prices I knew I had to pay a visit when the kids are in school. Hot pot, K-BBQ, AND sushi?! A friend of mine told us not to go to K-City BBQ calling it "grimy." I didn't ask for details but I figured I will check it out myself and I am glad I did. It is also important to note I went on a weekday when it first opened so it was certainly clean. No doubt everyone touches the same tongs like every other self-serving buffet so definitely be mindful about cleaning your own hands before you eat. I found the workers to be very friendly and attentive, switching out our BBQ grill multiple times even without us asking. I started off at the sushi station as my appetizer and I thought everything that I tried was delicious and fresh. No funkiness here. Some basic rolls and a few specialties. Mostly shrimp tempura, eel, avocado, and spicy tuna related. No spider roll - sad face. A good amount of options for K-BBQ. I did think most of the marinade was on the sweeter side. My favorite is the marinated pork belly and the marinated short ribs. YUMMY. As for the hot pot, you can ask for two different soup bases. I don't know that and wish they would've told us as it was our first time. But no big deal. I got the spicy mala soup base and thought it was just okay. I thought it had a slight gaminess to it which I thought was odd. Plenty of different types of vegetables and assorted roots. The hot pot meat is strangely in an area you would not expect... all the way in the back in a chest freezer, to the left of the sushi station. I assumed they didn't have any meats until I saw it on someone's plate and asked. There were a lot of options for prepared hot foods such as Cajun style boil which had corn, potatoes, clams, mussels, crawfish, crab. I thought that was well done. There was also a huge station of raw seafood. I think most grilled with them. I for one am not brave enough to eat that in a buffet restaurant. And of course there is your usual noodles, fried rice, chicken wings, chicken nuggets, pizza, calamari. There's a decent dessert station with a few choices of cakes and fruits. I've been meaning to come here and today the stars aligned and I was able to finally try this place out. Hot Pot and Sushi isn't a unique concept but I've never seen hot pot and grill. Pretty epic. So every person has their own hot plate for the hot pot and then there a grill in the middle. You can turn the temperature up or down on the side of the table for the hot plate and grill. There's a sleeve that extend up and down above the grill to suck the smoke away which is nice. You don't have to go home smelling of smoke. There are 4 choices for the broth for the hot pot, I went with miso. The hot pot also has two sections you can split up the ramen and whatever else you're cooking. The selection here is very good. There's a raw meat section, noodles, fish cakes, dumplings and veggies and more for the hot pot. They also have a decent sauce selection as well as most of the meats aren't all marinated beforehand. There's also a cooked section as well with standard buffet things. Sushi is also in the back and they also have a pretty good seafood selection as well. Of course they have desserts, fruits, and ice cream as well. AHCE, so there's a 90 minute limit. Not sure how long we were there but we were never rushed. The services was good too. The service is good, however the servers are a little over bearing. They want to cook for you and stand over the table. I noticed that if you're not Asian descent they assume you have no idea what you are doing... wrong assumption to make if you know what you are doing. To be honest, the last time I was there, I told the server we had been there before and we knew what we were doing... They still insisted on offering over the table and constantly walking back and fourth adjusting the temperature of the hot pot and the grill... seriously.... Leave us alone and if I need help I'll ask for it... totally ruins the experience when you trying to have a conversation with whoever is sitting across from you and the server is leaning over the table tying to cook for you... It's a mashup of hot pot, kbbq, sushi, and buffet. Can they make it work? We came with high expectations since it had a strong word of mouth amongst some people we know. First off, Waze gave funky directions since it's on one of those inner road off the main roadways and you need to enter that side street a block or two before to avoid having to loop around. But it does have ample parking in the back - even if you have to walk a bit to get to the entrance. So we went on Christmas Eve and it was packed! We were given a 30 wait estimate (mostly correct) for our party of 8 (which was split into 2 adjacent booths of 4 which we said we were good with). Naturally the place was in full Christmas holiday decor mode. But the place is very bright and large with many modern light fixtures that make the whole place insta-ready (check out the walkway leading to the bathrooms). So they start by asking for your hot pot broth choice - they have a divided pot that sits on induction plates (4 per table) so you could get 2 or 1 different broths (note the spicy one is VERY spicy - they even recommend getting something else with that one). There is a grill plate in the center of the table with a small smoke hood to suck up any smoke. The grill plate literally says "delicious" in Korean to add to the bona fides. But after taking your hotpot broth choice, you're off to get the food! The food options are plentiful with a wide variety of meats, seafood, vegetables, and hotpot addins like fishballs, dumplings, tofu, etc. There is a wide variety of marinated meat options (beef, chicken, shrimp) as well as a cooler with shabu shabu-style thinly sliced beef, chicken, and lamb meat. Their prepared food buffets included a good variety of sushi/rolls, fried foods (e.g., seasoned calamari rings, bang bang shrimp) as well as increasingly rare crab legs (which were refilled regularly) and shrimp cocktail. Lastly, there is also a salad station that obviously was untouched except for the fact that the other half held a few different cake slices and fruit for dessert. They did have a freezer with a selection of single serve Hershey's ice cream cups and a few ice cream on a stick (note - the orange one is not a creamsicle). So, in summary, the food was all very good. The meat was all of the kind of quality that makes you wonder how this place can offer it in this AYCE format. The shrimp were jumbo and the crab legs (which I was craving the most) were good so no skimping there. Also, I forgot to mention they had a couple of drink specials (which I normally avoid) that sounded pretty good and so we ordered a few and they all tasted really good. Everyone enjoyed everything! Come hungry. Lastly, the service was excellent. All the staff were pleasant and helpful. There was even a guy in a Santa suit delivering the broths out! An amazing experience and great value! 11 of us went on a Saturday for my niece's birthday. They have some street parking in the front and a large shared parking lot behind the building. It was BUSSSYYYY! But I definitely understand why. They have Sushi, Hot Pot, and Korean BBQ all you can eat for one price. They also have a variety of foods that are already cooked like, Lo Mein, Crab Legs, Pizza, Chicken Nuggets and other kid friendly options. I didn't try any of that stuff, it looked good but I can't speak on it. The restaurant is very clean and spacious however it's not large group friendly unless you don't mind sitting at separate tables. Every table is only able to hold so many seats because they have grills in the middle of them with hot pot stoves at each seat so obviously they can't move the tables. We had two tables next to each other. The food was SUPER GOOD. I mean it should be, you're cooking most of it yourself lol! But the whole experience was just fun! Fung was amazing and always made sure he was visible in case we needed anything. He also was super knowledgeable about the food and if he didn't know an answer he would go find out the answer. I was so excited to try a KBBQ/Hotpot place on Long Island as the other one in Westbury was a disappointment. I will start off by saying your experience will depend on your expectations. We were expecting decent KBBQ and great hotpot. You can't expect AYCE KBBQ at about $38 to be of the best quality meat as real KBBQ in the city is more than $40 per one order. As expected the quality wasn't great but as long as you chose wisely, flavors were okay. Not sure I would necessarily call it real KBBQ but if you want a lot of meat at a cheap price, this is it. Each table has a DIY grill and they came around and changed the top frequently which made it easier to grill. They had an okay variety of vegetables and meats and seafood for the hotpot. You choose a soup base and cook your hotpot in individual pots. You can choose 2 flavors as each pot has 2 sections. I would have preferred just one section as I only chose the pork broth and there wasn't a lot of room in the pot. They had sushi and some cooked food which I guess is good for those who don't want meats or the hotpot or just want add ons. I didn't want to fill up on cooked food so didn't try it. There seemed to be an okay variety. Not sure about the sushi quality but there was an abundance of it. Dessert variety was a mixture of some fruits, cakes and cups of frozen ice cream. All in all, I would not go back. I have yet to find an AYCE that does KBBQ justice. As for the hotpot, as much as hubby hates driving to Flushing, I prefer to make him go as the variety and experience is so much better. Prices are good! The food here.. there's so much! There's sushi rolls, nigiri (the salmon is good), meat for shabu, KBBQ meats (they have some good cuts of steak), vegetables, noodles, fried rice, dessert, fruit, crab legs, dumplings, french fries, and more! Seriously, there are so many options that you won't leave this place hungry. The sauces are self-serve. There's sriracha, ponzu, sesame oil, salt, etc. For your hot pot, you can choose to either go with 1 pot with 1 broth or have 1 pot with 2 different broths (separated in the pot). The spicy one has some heat to it! There is a 90-minute time limit for eating. Service is good and sometimes the servers help cook your meat. There is limited parking in the front, but plenty of parking in the back of the building. If you park in the back you must walk all the way to the front, do not try to walk inside from there. We were looking for lunch specials in our neighborhood and decided to try this restaurant. It replaced another AYCE buffet which was ok but my family liked. This is so much better. What a transformation! Our first observation was how full the back parking lot was on a weekday. There were very few spaces available. Upon being seated, the booths and tables were filled. Our server gave us a lesson on how their buffet works. You can have hot pot (which they refill the base at times) and barbecue meats (which they replace the grill at times). The meat and seafood are raw, but there are also some cooked dishes in the back as well. There is a sushi bar which serves fresh sushi rolls (no titles). Great variety to choose from at the stations. The lunch special is an excellent value. You're allotted 1 1/2 hours to enjoy your meal. We will definitely be back! read more

One of my favorite aspects of the restaurant is that it feels like it's fully staffed. We never have to wait long for someone to come help us, and because there is always someone walking around, they often help before you even ask. Food variety and quality is top notch. The cooked food is well seasoned and there are so many seasoning options for the hot pot, we're always happy with how everything tastes. The servers are great, they are really helpful and explain things, and come constantly to check if you need help, sometimes even without telling them, they came and asked if I needed a refill for my drink. The place is definitely handicap accessible, even the bathroom. They have a great variety of meats for bbq and seafood. The hotpot options are good too, and you can choose between two types of broth for the hotpots. They also have a section with traditional American Chinese foods for the buffet section. This restaurant is good even if it's your first time to a kbbq. I'm so glad i went and i went actually couple times after my first time. Going during lunch time on weekdays is actually cheaper than in a weekend.
