Welcome to K-City BBQ Sushi & Hot Pot. In this review, I'll walk you through our experience at this fine establishment. Firstly, we arrived at 5:30 and saw a huge crowd outside of the bar seating area, everyone was signed up on the waitlist and standing around waiting to be called. The maître d' took our name and phone number and added us to the digital waitlist. The wait was about 45 - 60 minutes. They used an online system so you can see your place in line in real time. The front area was definitely pretty crowded during the beginning of the dinner rush, but there was sufficient standing room in the restaurant and the temperature wasn't uncomfortable. There's a parking lot out back so if you wanted to you could also wait in your car as their waitlist system sends you a text message when the table is ready. Ambiance was chic with modern pop music playing. Energy was good in the restaurant. The decor within the restaurant is modern with tall black ceilings and neon lights for accents. Plenty of cool looking neon lit archways inside spruce up the decor. There's a cool projection on the back wall that makes seating look pretty cool. Lighting is sufficient and it's nice and bright inside. There are about two TVs by the bar the rest of the dining area doesn't have TVs. Once seated, you get the option of both hotpot and BBQ since both are included in the price. You can opt for two different broths as they have the divider. I picked the original pork bone broth and the spicy broth. Service was excellent, our table staff were prompt to refill water and they also watched our pots and adjusted temperatures according to our cooking. The meat quality was excellent, the vegetables and selection of prepared foods was also great. The desert bar was outstanding and they have a freezer full of ice creams to choose from. Overall it was an excellent experience and worth the wait. I thinking having some seating area for the waitlist would make this a full five star restaurant. It was noticeably crowded and some elderly people didn't look comfortable standing for their 44 minute wait. Personally, having mild ADHD, this was a bit overwhelming and I think I prefer either hotpot or bbq. As they say chasing two rabbits you catch none. Thankfully I have my partner to remind me when to turn the meat. Also, the raw oysters are not to be eaten raw, they are for the grill. There was a large array of items for hot pot but a bit lacking for kbbq. The sushi was not very fresh and didn't have a lot of turnover which contributed to it. The service was attentive and just fine. We emptied our own plates into bin since there was not much people and the waiters weren't coming around. The bins were close by so we didn't mind. Things started off poorly because we had a reservation for 7 at 12:30 and waited 45 minutes to be seated. Apparently the other large group decided to extend their stay. (Seemed to be only two areas that accommodate more than six people) Once seated things began to improve. Our server was really nice and reasonably attentive even though the restaurant was extremely busy. The set up is fairly simple, make your way to the serving area, plate whatever you'd like from the buffet area then return to your table to enjoy. Overall experience was pretty good. Came on a Sunday at 5 with reservation but it wasn't needed as it was pretty empty but once 6 came they became packed. Its about 50 dollars a person with tip and tax. note they do tip based on the total and not on the sub total so calculate the tip before paying. Personally they don't have enough staff to take care of the needs of a kbbq and hotpot. Most of the time I see the staff just standing around. I have to ask the fill my water and to give more soup base. I find at times they clear the table even though i need plates to put the cooked food on and other times where it obviously the plate is full of garbage and they don't take it. I think they just do too much should really stick with two styles at max. Most of the time I had to throw out my own garbage since the waiters just want to stand around and not do anything, this mainly applies the the male staff. The female staff is great though, very attentive but she always has so much to deal with. NOte they charge kids even though they eat barely anything. If you want quantity over quality this is the place. For birthdays its nice they give a you a 20 dollar gift card for the next meal, so I guess I am coming back to use the gift card read more

You are getting both hotpot and Korean bbq rather you like it or not. I like other places where they make you pay extra if you want either hotpot or kbbq add on. There's so much cooked food options and sushi that it really is for everyone! I love the soup base you get to try two different ones. The only complaint I had was my friend kept hitting his leg under the table into the middle mental part because the booth was kinda tight. The Asian food scene in Long Island is definitely getting more robust and I love the addition of k-city hot pot and bbq. We got there around 6:45PM and waited around 40 minutes for a seat since they were super busy. This AYCE place serves hot pot, bbq and sushi! We obviously had to try everything. It's also buffet style so we were able to grab our own meat and vegetables. They had a huge variety of different meat, veggies and noodles. They also had some hot food as well. The hot pot were all individual pots so each person gets to pick the broth they want which I liked. The bbq is shared and the staff was very quick in switching the grill out when it got too sticky. So freaking full but we felt clean because the place is bright modern and blasts Canto-pop Mando-pop and Mando-Trap. From the Korean BBQ meats to Chinese hotpot ingredients, unlimited lamb, sushi and sashimi, ice-cream and all that other buffet goodness. The place is definitely overwhelming LOL. The hostess pulled me aside and said it shouldn't be that bad LOL we waited almost an hour. It was worth it. There is sushi, sashimi, rolls and apps. I loved the shrimp and salmon sushi? The yellowtail sashimi and raw oysters, the yellowtail jalepeno, spicy tuna on seaweed tempura and the dragon rolls. Sliced meat for hot pot was 5 options, all sliced in front of me and placed into the freezer. Impeccably clean. The hot pot options had all the vegetables, the seafood selection included, calamari, shrimp with head, crab and assortment of clams and mussels. The bbq had so many marinated meats as well as unmarinated ribeye and steaks. (They supply ample seasoning and butter for the not marinated stuff) they have a cooked food bar with ALL THE CHINESE FAVORITES, sesame balls, condense milk buns, pumpkin tarts, and they also have a dessert bar and ice cream. Our personal favorites are coffee and chocolate. We spent $150 for 2 adults, 2 kids and a cocktail including tip and tax. We love it here! Just came back from the restaurant with my wife and kids was very excited to finally see some Korean food near us but after visiting I do not see myself going there again so this is my honest review; First off I will give the staff a 5 star, they are polite and provide great services. The waiter we had was constantly cleaning our plates and refilling our drinks with great attitude. However, I do not think this establishment is Korean owned it seems more Chinese operated and I know this comes off raciest but there a few things that impact the expectation from a Korean's perspective. The soup base for the hotpots offered is not the same Korean, we typically like Dashi (anchovy) base, they did not offer this and the spicy base is oily. The other issue that I had a big problem with is that Galbi (beef short rib) which is practically a must in a Korean establishment was empty the whole time i was there (1 HR and 10 minutes), I know this is probably time gated because its an expensive cut but you can't do a Korean BBQ without a Galbi, we literally go there just for that. I kept an eye on the empty tray for an hour and it never got filled while many staffs walked by it. The other issue is the snow crab, they had no taste at all, I can't but help to think its done on purpose to stop everyone from eating it but this is first time I ate snow crabs and it had absolutely no taste, usually they just make it extremely salty, these were boiled in large amount of water and drained of all their flavors. These were my two must eat things here and it really disappointment me eating tough chuck meat knowing I'm paying for my wife, daughter, and son who hardly eat much. I was better off going to a real BBQ. I can see people who have had no other KPot or KBBQ experiences enjoy this place but I think its worth a drive to other establishments that don't overly time gate their food. There are 2 sauce stations, one for bbq and one for hotpot. The sushi selection is decent and the hotpot meat was hiding in the back corner. Three stars for the food and five stars for the service. We went on a Monday so it wouldn't be too crowded, but there was a good amount of people there. The restaurant was spacious and the restrooms were clean. Our server was so nice and so attentive that I couldn't ask for anything more. She's not even really a server since this is a help yourself AYCE. We didn't see any eggs near the hot pot station so we asked her and she immediately brought us six eggs. She overheard my mother asking for an extra bowl and I was going to get up and get it, but she beat me to it. That's great service. I think there's too much going on with the sushi, hot pot, and Korean barbecue. Too much means it was overwhelming trying to figure out how to cook/eat everything all at once. Too much stuff on the table while the bbq meats were getting cold. Too much also means being spread too thin, the sushi/sashimi section needed more variety. It needed more sashimi choices and not just rolls. The hot pot section was pretty decent. They had all the fixings and the sauces that I needed but the sauces I use are also pretty basic. I do the basic satay sauce, soy sauce, scallion, garlic, cilantro, and raw egg. They had a decent selection of raw food, mushrooms and fishballs, but could use a better selection of raw veggies. I got the pork bone and herbal bone broth combo and the broth were really delicious. However, the actual hot pot itself was so tiny that you put a couple things in and it's too full. The selection of bbq meats was not huge, but enough to cover all the bases. I also appreciated that they had the traditional Korean bean dipping sauce and special soy sauce for the Gyoza. Many places overlook these tiny things when their menu is so massive. I probably will go back even though it's kind of far for me. But the next time, I'm going to limit myself to either hot pot or barbecue with a little sushi as an appetizer. Too much isn't always a good thing. read more

dang this place is something else!!! **there is barely any street parking, but if you keep driving down, you'll find a public parking lot that is free. it is next to the church & only a 2 minute walk from the restaurant** we waited 45 minutes after being told it would be a 30 minute wait. we were close to walking, but they were able to seat us immediately after that. we didn't realize it was all you can eat hot pot, Korean BBQ, sushi & buffet. it was a very interesting concept. our 19 month old ate so much, we were surprised. he was very taken with the grapes. my daughter ate just about all the salmon sashimi & some salmon rolls. she really ate her value in salmon! my mom and dad were pleasantly pleased with the restaurant. we typically go to hai di lao for hot pot, but they enjoyed this spot. my dad and husband said they prefer HDL for their broth & selection more, but as this is closer, it's definitely more convenient. this is a great spot if you don't know what you want. read more

Before anything else I would like to say service was great. Hosts and servers were attentive in picking up plates, changing grills, drink orders etc. Food for the hotpot/kbbq was constantly turned and so was available to you if for only a short wait. But with that said, I think this place needs to commit to one or the other, and not do both The hotpot containers or so small while the meats, vegetables and other additives are very much larger. The hot plate in front of the grill makes eating awkward with the amount of table space and so you're fighting to make room. And with much of the buffet portion catered to this, the hot foods section of the buffet is very, very small. The sushi is what you find in most asian buffets. The kbbq did its job, but much of it came out frozen. Brisket cut from the deli slicer sometimes came out uneven, the 'Italian Sausage' tasted more of the Chinese style sausage. Grills weren't oiled so it was little odd to receive butter on the side to coat new grills. I'm bias in the fact that I prefer kbbq over hotpot so it was my favorite part. But don't expect the same banchan in other kbbq restaurants. To mention the hotpot, again the hot plate is in front of the grill at the table. And the size of the container was that of deep square stainless steel pan, probably 6 inches deep. So not much space . A lot of variety as this takes up much of what the buffet portion offered. While they then have bowls for the sauces, It would've been nice to have larger bowls available if either for the soup from the hotpot or rice. Would've been great if the rice came out just from the rice cooker than occupying space in the buffet area. Not sure what to eat? Come to K-City BBQ. It has mix of everything. It has K Bbq, hot pot, sushi, cooked food, crab legs, all in one place, one price. First, you choose the type of broth you want, and you could do double broth in the individualized mini pot. Then, you just grab any food you want and cook it anyhow you want it. The sauce bar has sufficient choices of condiments. There arent much dessert choices, they have ice creams, but it was not a big deal. There is barely any space left for dessert. There are so many food varieties. The service was great. Bill was our server and he keeps on checking on us to make sure everything is okay. There is also a designated waiter that goes around the table to exchange the pan grills so that we do not have a burnt one. The restaurant is newly renovated and it is pretty spacious. However, if you are tall, be aware where you sit. The cooktop are all induction so in the booth, there is limited space for the leg space. We have now eaten here twice. The food is wonderful and we all know that everyone loves cooking their own food on an in-table bbq or hibachi. However, after our delicious meal (the sauces make this place so special), we were interrogated by a manager about the insufficiency of a ten-dollar tip. Oh how this angers me. I'm not even going to express the usual refrain of "what a good tipper I am" and "how I respect servers and restaurant staff so much because I have experience in this kind of employment" no. I would not bore you with this normal rhetoric. (Even though I just did) But the fact that this woman came to our table and said to my wife and I "we want to know if everything was alright" [yes everything was fine]. "Oh you see we have to speak to the customer any time the tip is less than 15%" and for this person to continue on "because you see, we have a policy that when the customer tips under 15 percent, it is looked upon as such a negative of the performance of your server, that the management will have to reprimand them" Are you freaking kidding me? Did she really have the audacity to embarrass my wife and I to think that our tip was so low that we might get this person fired? NOT! Both not! Now the fact is, we all know that a buffet is different than a sit down restaurant. This lady was very nice and way overly attentive (probably due to the fact that the place was over staffed on a Tuesday night); fact is, her questioning every 4 minutes about the grill and should she change the grill and poking at our food. Turning it and moving it, when we kept saying all Is fine and we do not need anything. We came here to cook our own food. If I need somebody's hand flipping my meat, I'll go back in time one year and visit Benihana before it closed. Let me just bottom line it. We needed only one soft drink each and it was nice that this server asked us if all was well and took away the three plates and some sauce cups that we used. For that, if ten bucks gets me questioned about my frugality, then chalk this up to a restaurant that I do not need to return to. And what a shame because like I said, the concept is great and I was recommending it to everyone I know. I even thought of it as a great future party spot. Thanks for ruining our experience and learn to treat good customers with respect. Maybe $40 per person is a little steep. And by the by, we all know how obnoxious it is to print on the dinner check the suggested tip is 20 or 25 percent. And then calculate it inappropriately on the post-tax amount. First, I called in to reserved seats for my group, but when we got there, just happened to have a big group arrived right before us and took the bigger table. (What's the point for me to call in to reserve ahead) Even though I wasn't too happy with that but the staffs managed to give us a round table with four hotpot and two small tables on each side. (We will have to share the hotpot, but Al of us pay for both hotpot and bbq) Second, with $40 per person, the hot food and sushi are just nah. Choices for hotpot and bbq are not a lot either. I shared a pot with one of my friend. We ordered spicy soup base and bone broth soup base, spicy is not as spicy as I was hoping for, but they do have extra spicy soup base block that you can add on; bone broth is okay. With this price, I can actually go to a different all you can eat, maybe with less hot food, but with more choices for hotpot and bbq. Personally not thinking to come again. read more

I've been to jbbq and some other expensive Korean bbq places but kcity is much more reminiscent of ktown Korean bbq - buffet style with hot pot and grill they have all the classic items plus a pretty expansive hot apps bar and sushi bar as well - the sushi is better than Chinese food buffet but certainly not true sushi quality - it's just a nice touch to have a nibble while you're cooking up your angus beef. I should also mention the sauce bar has everything g you could ever want and I'm a condiment girl so I was super happy about that - I recommend going but try to go on lunch if you can since the price is cheaper and it encompasses all the same items read more
