Hand cut noodles with mushroom and beef

My partner & I made it into Buffalo early before a concert. We wanted something we don't get much of in Syracuse. While looking at restaurants near KeyBank Center, we found K:Dara Noodle Bar. We didn't notice signage outside of the door. We walked up, saw there was a paper menu taped to the glass, and opened the door. There were stairs to walk down to get to the host stand (I'm not sure if/where the elevator is). We were the only guests there around 4:30pm before the concert, but within the hour the place was packed and there was a wait. We started with two drinks, Jet Set (Asian pear, jasmine, black tea infused cognac, Swedish punsch) and Spanish monk (gin, green chartreuse, lemon, simple syrup, and egg white). Both tasted so well made and they're certainly not drinks we would think about normally ordering so it's great they showcased these options on their "Features" board. The "Features" paper menu offered "K-bread" as a starter. The server described it well and referred to it as their version of garlic bread. It was soft and sweet with a creamy melty cream cheesy filling. So worth it! I ordered the cucumber salad and the featured hand cut noodles bowl with mushroom and beef. Both simply delicious and the noodles had me wishing I ordered a large instead of a small! My partner had been craving pho and ordered it. I could tell he loved it after seeing his smile post- first-slurp. We wrapped our evening with the spiced crème brûlée. If crème brûlée is on the menu, then, rest assured, we are ordering it. Truly, I think their crème brûlée takes first place in my book. I loved the little kick of spice. It made it different! Give it a try. I only wish I had room to try the piña colada flan.

Overalls had a good experience at K Dara Noodle House for the first time. The Mushroom, Taro & Leek Dumplings were just okay--interesting idea but a little bland. The Chicken Fresh Rolls were much better: fresh, tasty, and well-balanced. The highlight was definitely the Hand-Cut Noodles with Chicken. Great texture, flavorful sauce, and tender chicken--would come back just for this dish. Solid spot for handmade noodles! Also, don't skip the lemonade--so good and super refreshing!

Went for lunch. Busy spot! Food came out timely and it was very tasty. Got a fried rice bowl. They seem to turnover tables quickly there. Staff was friendly and helpful. I walked there so I'm not sure about parking. Street/paid parking (depending on time of day) is probably the only option. Great spot! Highly recommend you check it out. I'll be back!

We had a perfect dinner this evening at K:Dara Noodles Bar. I ordered the frequent flyer cocktail, which was dry and delicious. We shared the pork dumplings. Also delicious. The best was the crispy egg with beef and duck sausage - a perfect combination of vegetables, noodles and well seasoned meat. It was a crunchy, juicy burst of flavor in my mouth with just the right amount of kick to it. Our waitress, Cassandra, was sweet and very attentive without disrupting our meal. I highly recommend this place!

Their noodles are good but their fried rice is life changing. It's SO GOOD! I've been a few times now and I can't not order it. They have yummy fresh spring rolls as well served with a light lemony sort of sauce which is nice. Service and prices are great and the whole place is just neat. Love sitting at the bar and chatting and watch the drinks get made. Great spot can't wait to come back again!

K Dara is one of the best Asian fusion restaurants I've been to in the world with amazing cocktails. Their dishes are Vietnamese-Chinese inspired that are both authentic and yummy tasting. Asian or not, you won't be disappointed.

Yesterday was my second time at K'Dara. It is wonderful! A little hard to find (you have to go downstairs when you enter). The menu is somewhat basic, but has everything you could possibly want. They also do a few specials. This time around, I was there with three girlfriends. Cassie was our server and she was AWESOME! She recommended some of her favorite items and was happy to answer all of our questions (there were a lot of questions!) we took her suggestion on the 'complicated Riesling' bottle and tried the eggplant and the garlic bread appetizers. Both were so good. For dinner, I ordered the special noodle bowl, my one friend got mung bean noodle bowl and two got udon bowls. Everything was amazing! Another shout out to Cassie who split our bill up four ways, charging each of us for 1/4th of the apps. I've never seen this done before and appreciate the extra time it took her to do. I for one will be returning and hope my friends will as well.

This is somewhere I could easily pass 100 times and never notice. So unassuming but once you go down the stairs, you are pleasantly surprised by the openness! Staff was very friendly and attentive. The dumplings were great and so was the pho. We shared a double pho and they kindly put it into 2 bowls without us even asking. The sauces, especially the siracha sauce, was great with the perfect amount of spice. Highly recommend stopping in for some authentic noodle dishes.

This is my first time here and I absolutely love the old brick and repurposed space! It is beautiful without being too dark. Our server was attentive and very bubbly! Easy to talk to! The food was incredible! The flavors were amazing, the spice was perfect, the portions were harty for the cost. I definitely would come again

The only indicator of where K:Dara Noodle Bar is was a sandwich board that had a K in a circle outside the door with a staircase heading downstairs. At first glance, there seems to be plenty of seating, with a great view of the bar at the back of the room. I was part of a party of nine, which appeared to be the largest group of the evening. We had a 6 pm reservation and I'm sorry to say it appeared the staff was ill-prepared for the amount of effort it would take to manage such a large party along with the rest of the room. All in all, it took until after 8 pm for us to enjoy drinks, starters, entrees, and get our checks closed out. I was the second to arrive and waited nearly 45 minutes for my Martini. Apparently, the bartender lost my order... it supposedly had lemon in it (which seems strange in a coffee cocktail), but I couldn't taste it. I saw one server (Cassie), one person clearing place settings, and a person I'm assuming was the Head Waiter, who actually interrupted Cassie (as she was answering questions and taking orders at our table) to hand her food for delivery to another table. My dining companions & I were in utter SHOCK to see that happen... I shared the pork dumplings & mushroom dumplings with a friend. The mushroom dumplings had something spicy in the filling that I found enjoyable but was overwhelming to my friend. I ordered the bean sprout salad but felt I had to ask for more ginger dressing for the amount of sprouts in the bowl. For my entree, I chose a weekly feature of wonton bowl with handcut noodles, spinach, pork meatballs, and enoki mushrooms. The meatballs were soft & flavorful. The dumplings had a delicious contrasting flavor, and there were plenty of enoki mushrooms in the broth. I would have loved to try either the creme brulee or the Car Bomb ice cream, but after taking 2 hours for the rest of the meal, I sadly passed on dessert.

    My delicious noodle entree !

I would have preferred steamed dumplings, but there was no choice, fried only. The taste was very nice and they were pleasantly crunchy. (photo) I loved the broth of the soup; it was plenty hot enough and perfect for cold and flu season. I would have liked broth only, and I asked if I could have without the rice noodles. Yes, I could, but the price would be the same. Okay, so I took the noodles on the side, to go. Even so, I was shocked to see the size of the soup bowl. It had to be at least a quart of soup, with chicken, wood ear mushrooms, bok choy, fried tofu. The rice noodles would have put the soup to the brim. Seems there is only one size of everything. If all of the soups are served in these quart bowls, plan on sharing with one or two others if ordering soup. They will give you extra bowls and spoons, as they did for us. Even with the two of us having some soup, I took about a third home. (photo) I had one of the Crispy Pies, scallion and pork. The filling was too thin or maybe the dough was too thick. Or a little of both. (photo) Employees are friendly and pleasant, eager to be helpful. JBC is a new and welcome addition to the Marshall's Plaza. Prices of some things may seem high, but if the foods we had today are typical, plan on sharing or taking some home.

BUT! The waiter was so friendly and offered to explain any dish we needed to know more about and gave us a warning anytime we chose something really spicy. Great selection on the menu between curries, noodles, soups and rice dishes. I ended up with the Shrimp Dopiaza which ranks in one of my top favorite 5 dishes I have ever had. The flavor was amazing and SPICY, served with long grain rice, curry and lots of huge shrimp! My husband got the Special Beef khichiri which was delicious, lots of bones in there though so be prepared if you aren't expecting it. We also ordered 2 garlic naan because we were expecting a small idk, 6 in diameter disc? NO. You get 4 huge pieces per naan, practically the size of a full pizza. We should have split one but if you like garlic, this has about 2 cloves per slice. Its delicious! For dessert we ordered Gulan Jamun and Rasgulla. Oh my, it's like spongy donuts in sugar syrup. So good! Will definitely get takeout again! P s. You have you pay $1 for a bottle water if sitting down.

The cashier was a little gruff, but the woman running back and forth between the kitchen and the front had a better business sense about keeping customers happy. She didn't want me to wait long, so I think she rushed the kitchen a little bit, which I appreciated, but also may have led to some of the demerits on the food I mention below. I was happy to see one dish I ordered, the pig intestine with fish, on their picture board above the cash registers. That gave me confidence that they knew what they were doing and it was the best dish by far out of the three I ordered. The intestine was fresh and flavorful, the spice level was high, but also not too salty. It was a lot of food. Only drawback here was the fish (tilapia?) seemed to be heavy on the breading. The other two dishes were disappointing. Penang curry with pork had good vegetables, but the sauce had too little flavor since they went too heavy on the coconut milk. The pork seemed like chicken, not pork. Way too soft and flavorless. The Singapore Chow Mei Fun had good noodles and veggies. But the curry powder was not blended in. Eating it, I could still feel it in powder form. It was also far too oily. Overall, I think they had a lot of options but next time I'd steer more towards classic Chinese, since that seems to be what they do well. I hope next time the flavors will be stronger and blended better (i.e. powders actually stirred in). I'm willing to give them another chance, since they do have a lot of dishes I like. Last note: the online ordering service does not indicate that dishes come with rice. I thought they would have rice by default, but then when I added the penang curry to my cart, it asked whether I wanted rice or noodles or something else. So that made me think I had to order rice separately, which meant I had twice as much rice as I needed. It also said "quart of white rice" was sold out, but "pint of white rice" was not, yet the rice that came with my meal came in a quart container.
