It is as if the best donut nectar ever is strained down to the DW. I stopped by the Donut Wheel at 7:20 am and someone had definitely gotten up early to make the donuts. The plain glazed donut was so light and fluffy it was like eating a fine pastry. The glaze was just right, just a kiss of sweetness to make the perfect donut. I also tried a cake donut with icing and sprinkles on top. The cake was perfect, very light and very moist. Almost a contradiction on what we have always had as cake donuts. Two donuts = $1.41. I love crazy extravagant donuts, but the places that can give me good simple down home donuts are ones I am willing to go to more often. I think that describes donut wheel. A dozen donuts for a little over $7 is hard to beat. They had a very good variety. I ordered, simple cake donuts, chocolate glazed, coconut, sour cream cake donuts, and Boston cream filled. I love this place! I'm not a donut person. I stopped in here because it was open at 4 am and I do not eat McDonalds cancer food. I was blown away. I've always thought donuts were 'not bad,' upon coming her I crave them! The apple fritters are ridiculous! I ordered random things one morning; they were all so delicious!! They know how to balance the pastry with the toppings very well. I saw someone complain about the cinnamon rolls and apple fritters lol; I found them to be perfect. I can only couch for this location but I only gave 4 stars because I went there on National Donut Day to get the best glazed donut in town and they were all out! Out of glazed donuts on National Donut Day! So then I asked for old fashioned donuts: out. Okay, how about buttermilk: out. Needless to say I did not get a donut on Donut Day. Quite a bummer. p.s. My pregnancy craving (that I try really, really hard to keep at bay) is their glazed donuts. Let me tell you that those things are a little piece of heaven. So moist and chewy and fluffy. Icing all the way around (unlike at other donut places). The only donuts I eat is Krispy Kreme brand so it's a big deal that I really like Donut Wheel's (on Kolb) donuts. p.p.s. Donut Wheel is the best in town! Their selection may not be as large as some of the big chains, but their quality is way better. (Seriously, donuts are supposed to have different textures... yeast, cake, fritters, etc.! They should NOT all taste/feel the same.) I love their Apple Fritters! The large one is ridiculously big... about the size of my entire face. I'm not kidding. But I rarely find the smaller ones if I stop in. It's so, so, so good! Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside. Ahhhh! It's fortunate that I don't live super close to their shop, or I'd be over there all the time. My family and I are donut enthusiasts, we know exactly how we like our donuts (no DD for us). They have to be soft and fluffy and not too sweet. These donuts hit every right key. If you've been to the Ina location, the donuts here are much more fluffier. I'm shocked at how good they were! We got the glazed, chocolate, maple, and cake donuts. We loved all of them. As I am not a fan of corporate recipes, i.e., Krispy Kreme, I find that a few local (in any state) donut houses take pride in their recipes. Having one of the best in my own state to compare to, Donut Wheel instantly became my favorite for their cake donuts during my nearly 3-week visit in Tucson. Customer service was better than expected and donuts are amazingly inexpensive at only $6.95 per dozen plus tax plus a 50-cent credit/debit card fee - but who carries cash anymore these days. I felt that I should deduct one star, as I stopped in on a Friday early evening and the donut selection was nearly nonexistent. We were told that donuts do not get baked until 9:00 PM. There should not be set times to bake donuts. When supply is low and demand is higher, bake more donuts. read more

The donuts may be good, but consider this: Immigrants are able to get a SBA (small business administration) guaranteed loan that that citizens can't get. They operate tax free for several years. I love this place! One- they are open 24/7 and a mom and pop shop. They donuts are a great size, fluffy and are not expensive at all. They get busy in the morning but are quick to get your order in. I definitely recommend them over National chains because there is a very noticeable taste difference. My favorite flavor is maple and I have yet to get a better tasting one than theirs. Just tried this for an emergency doughnut run. It was late in the day and there wasn't a lot of choice. Most looked like the heavy cake donuts I don't especially like. The counter girl verified they were cake doughnuts. When I picked one up when we got home, the doughnut kind of crunched under my fingers. It was smaller and denser than a regular fried doughnut, but it was light and fluffy with a crisp fried exterior unlike the cake doughnut gut bombs. This is the perfect doughnut. I understand that COVID changed everything and altered working hours but for f*** sakes, update your shit. I attempted to buy donuts for my coworkers (we start at 5am) and I should've known better to call and check if the hours have changed. On 3/27/22, I arrive at 4:25 and the place is not open. I didn't make much of it because like I said I should've know the hours have changed. So, letting that go, I call at 2:30pm, the same day, and ask what are their new hours and I was told 4:30am to 11pm. So, on 3/28 I get there at 4:35 and the fuck*** place is not open. I mean what the f. If you guys open later, then just tell me!! This place is out of my way and all I'm trying to do is something nice for my coworkers!! I still haven't had even had a donut from this place but I won't give them my business now. I would've let this all go if they could've honestly told me what time they open. Update your fuckin shit!! Horrible service! I took my kids infor a treat and literally waited 10 min for the employee to get off the phone (or owner? Who could tell since he was wearing a white undershirt instead of a decent shirt). Even when he walked around the counter he stayed on the on phone for another 5 min without even saying hi or I'll be with you in a minute. If it weren't for the fact that I promised my kids I would have walked out. Keep in mind, I worked at Dunkin Donuts for the time I was 16 thru 25 - so I know donuts. I got a lemon filled and it was very fresh. My only complaint is that the filling was in the bottom 1/3. They need to learn to pull the donut off the filler as the filling is coming out.
