They don't respect your time. When I arrived, I was told the wait would be about 15 minutes, but I ended up waiting 45 minutes before anyone even started. At first, I was okay with the delay. However, what really bothered me was how they kept taking in new customers while I was still being worked on. They would start with someone else and then come back to me later, which dragged the whole appointment out to almost 3 hours just for a mani and pedi. Do not come here for any services. I got a simple manicure by the man that works here with gel polish. I was holding my breath the whole time because he was so aggressive with cutting my skin/cuticles. He ended up cutting my skin far far away from where my cuticles are almost near the tip/side of my finger and blood goes everywhere. He starts holding down so the blood doesn't go anywhere without gloves or anything so I wonder who else's blood was cross contaminated with their stuff. The lady comes yells at him and dips my bloody finger in this Nick powder where my blood contaminates the inside of the bottle the proceeds to put some strong oil "medicine" that I don't know what exactly it was.... I will not return after this. I was more scared of catching any infection or diseases and wonder about their cleanliness. I've been coming here for at least 15 years. They are very good at what they do. Cindy and the crew are always working hard to provide good service, beautiful nails and a relaxing experience. Went in this morning for regular toe polish and gel nails. I'd picked the sparkle blue for my toes. Cindy had the technician do the same blue in regular polish and had them put the blue sparkle on the top. If she hadn't had them do that, I would have ended up with barely there blue sparkles on my toes. Thank you, Cindy! read more

I came for the low service prices and I know they always take clients. I now feel some type of way though from this experience because as the manicurist was finishing up my set, I noticed another customer just needed a top coat done. Before they put the top coat however they asked her to pay and she was confused because she never had to pay before. They said you pay before you get the top coat so it doesn't mess up the nails. They went back and forth for awhile because again it was never stated that you had to pay before the top coat was put on. When I got my top coat put on and was almost done, I asked shouldn't I pay before I get my top coat put on? They said no. The mother of the customer came and asked why was this now a requirement. She had been a loyal customer so she was taken aback when her daughter had to pay before her nails were finished. I think the manager and her finished their conversation outside. To be clear they didn't ask her if she wanted to pay before or after. They told her to pay before which she did. The manicurist who was helping me started explaining to me that they ask if you want to pay before or after the top coat so the nails don't get messed up. I asked him why I didn't have to pay before I got my top coat and didn't get a straight answer. I also tried to give him the benefit of the doubt and say is it because she got acrylic or because her nails are long because I just got gel on my short natural nails. He said we always ask no matter what. I said you didn't ask me and I noticed him not ask any of the customers who were there before me that paid. This is definitely the watered down version but I'm not sure if this was just a misunderstanding or racism and discrimination. I'm for the latter and probably won't return to this establishment. I'm all for people getting it how they live and I see they work hard but check your biases and get it together. read more

So here's how my experience was today here at KJs. First let me tell you all my friends gave big kudos to this shop for honoring their appointments and showing off their cute nails.. So I had a wedding to attend and thought I'd get my nails all nice as I haven't had my nails done in so long what a treat right?..So I'm thinking KJs all my friends are raving about it.. I call at 12:15 and ask if they still have any appointments? The lady says to show up in 15 minutes..I had to be at the wedding by 4. No prob right? So I'm there as told by 12:30, now I'm waiting no big it's expected a little late. So a man comes to take me for my pedi, says he can't do my french tips..So the owner, boss, not sure, she said she can ..It took an hour to get my toes done!! Are you kidding me...Feeling positive that my toes look super cute though..I told her I need to get done, I have an appointment. The lady takes me to the manicure table,I guess decided on her own my nails should be longer and does acrylics, but now she has me wait for this other guy, who takes a bit to come over, so he's gluing long nail on me with crazy glue.. I did not ask for acrylic nails I hate acrylics, I specifically asked for a gel mani..so now I'm getting pissed I'm sorry but I was starting to lose it internally...Finally i say, I have to go..can you just finish so I can leave..I'm never going to have time to fix my hair, or makeup and still be on time..I was literally there till 3:15..almost 3 hours and I left with my nails not finished, no time to wax my brows..Several ppl left ...I literally had the worst nail experience ever! Experience was just ok. On a positive side, they were able to accommodate a walk in. One of my nails needed a repair after the technician accidentally brushed up against it. Although I think she noticed it at the time, I had to mention that nail needed to get fixed. Major points lost when she took shortcuts rather than taking the time to properly repair the single nail. This is a quiet little nail shop located in American Canyon. I've been coming here for about a year, usually to get my toenails done during sandal season. When I come in I am greeted and asked what type of service I need (pedi or mani) & I let them know and then pick my color. Sometimes there is a wait, but most times, at least when I come, the traffic has been light. I usually get this nice man, but today I had a lady whom I've never had the pleasure of meeting before. I came in with my boyfriend and I was very excited because it was his first time getting a pedicure. She began to fill in my tub with water, but didn't check the temp. So when I put my foot in, it was cold. She asked how it felt and I told her it was a bit cold so she added some warm water. However, it didn't even get lukewarm before she shut it off. I was kind of sad about it, but I'm not really confrontational and I didn't want to be a bother to her. She continued with the regular things, clipping my nails, removing my cuticles, etc. but when she clipped my nails she also filed them which I found kind of odd because she was clipping them so short + filing them but there was nothing but skin to file. When she was filing she was also filing my cuticles as well, which I've never had done before. It wasn't a pleasant feeling but not enough for me to get mad at her about. I also was thinking it may have hurt more because my feet weren't warm. Anyway, she started working on my pinky toe (pictured) and she was filing it. All the sudden I felt a pain and I pulled my foot back and did a little yelp. I felt bad because I startled her and the poor woman probably thought I was going to kick her! I apologized but she looked more angry than concerned. I had only pulled back because of instinct. Anyway, it was kind of awkward and I felt bad because I scared her. My toe was hurting but it wasn't to bad. She continued with the rest of my foot & everything went well. There were time where she would completely stop to talk to the other worker working next to her, but it wasn't a big deal. She was a very nice lady so I'm sad to write this review. I was going to let it slide & even tipped, but now after wearing shoes my toe hurts. Every other time I've gone here I've had a pretty good experience. The other workers have always been very attentive and gentle with my feet. I've never had a painful experience, but this time was the first time. I still enjoy this establishment and I'm sure it was only an accident. I will be coming back, since it is so close and the work isn't bad at all. I hope you have a good experience if you come in. Really bad service. I think her name was Cindy owner of the place. I came in with my mom and friend. She started my pedicure by Putting aluminum and just let me sit there while she worked on other customers. She help my mom and our friend but kept me waiting ! Not even saying anything. Then one of her employees ask my age. What does that got to do with my pedicure! And I ask to have design on my nails she said gel only to get that kind of design so that means she only cares about the money not the customer. The first thing I noticed when I walked in this salon was the smell of acetone. It was strong but not unbearable. My friend and I walked in at around 12 PM today without scheduling an appointment and were seated right away. Three things I didn't like: 1) The guy who did my nails was on his cellphone multiple times. Unprofessional. 2) He put one thin coat of the nail polish I selected, a clear coat on top, and went on his break. He didn't even ask me how many coats I wanted. The nail polish was so sheer that you could see that I had on fake nails. So I asked the other worker who was working on my friend's nails to put on another coat for me. By the time he was ready to, the guy who was working with me came back from his break and did it. Since another coat still didn't look good enough for me, I asked him to put some glitter on top. 3) The price for acrylics is $22 here, which is $8 cheaper than the place I usually go to (Sky Nails in American Canyon), so I was pretty excited about that. However, they charged me $8 for removing the old acrylics I already had on. I wasn't aware of that fee. If I had known, I would have done it myself. On top of that, I only had 7 of the acrylics because 1 had fallen off and I removed the other 2. So $8 to remove only 7 nails is not reasonable. Overall, I am pretty satisfied. My nails turned out beautifully. The guy made sure my nails were evenly shaped. There is a large selection of regular nail polish. And they use good, sanitary equipment. read more

Anyways the girl did a good job on my Desigin and the owner remembered me. But the problem came towards the end. 1 - they only had cheap gel to put on my nails. Then when I asked if she could put on a extra coat on my nails the chick just said no and walked away... WtF??!! So when I'm out of town all my paint cracks on my nails. And all the white turned yellowish and my rhinestones started faking out one by one. They looked horrible after 48hrs. Came here on a Monday afternoon and didn't have to wait, which was really nice. I informed the lady I only wanted a color change with shellac polish. She was super nice and was very thorough. What ended up happening was I didn't realize she was actually giving me a manicure (I don't get my nails done very often so I didn't know the difference...my fault) so I ended up paying $24 instead of the $12 I was expecting to. Since she did a nice job, I didn't complain and left her a nice tip as well. A couple of hours later, I noticed some of the polish already peeling since she had left some of it on my skin. I went in the following day and let them know about and they gladly fixed it! They kept apologizing but I was just happy they were nice enough to fix it without charging me extra. I've been coming to K J Nails for years and it's hard for me to go anywhere else lol. I always go to Lee or Cindy for my nails and every single time they never disappoint! They are both super friendly along with everyone else there. However, be aware of what time you go in. If you go in when no one is there, you'll be in and out super fast. But if there's a couple people ahead of you, and they say it'll only be a 20 -30 min wait, it could be a lot longer than that. There have been a couple times where I've gone with my mom and we've waited for an hour but didn't mind because we didn't have any plans. I told them we had 1 hour to make sure they could accomplish it. They said no problem. We ran passed the time by 40 minutes. They started her pedicure after mine even though she needed her finger nails painted too. I told them just to paint her finger nails the same color but they proceeded to give her a full manicure. We have had them just painted many times (she's only 9) without a problem. Also the lady who does special designs on the nails seems to always be off when I'm there. This place is pretty good! My cousin and I got our nails done here for the first time and was seated right away. Our nails were finished in about an hour and we got acrylics plus gel. TIP: When you go here you must tell them exactly what you want and they will adjust it to your likings, also you can show them a reference photo. The only downside to my visit was that there was a fingerprint on my nail when they were doing gel and I informed the lady who was doing my nails. She repainted it, but only that nail and didn't even it out with the others, so my pointer nail in the photo looked darker than the rest. As I was choosing a color, another woman who was there before me was told she would be seen right after me because I had called ahead and made an appointment.
