Fried chicken
Michelle M.

Delicious! We were seated right away for an afternoon meal. Our server was very nice and the ambiance is simple. It seems like a family runned business and we enjoy supporting small businesses. They have a t.v. playing music in the background. We decided to share the kimchi pork belly, fried chicken and the hot pot soup. Each of us received a small bowl of rice to go along with our food. The fried chicken included big pieces. The seasoning and spice on the Kimchi pork belly was just right. Someone in our group did mention they wish there was less fat on the pork belly. Everything was delicious and felt fresh. 3 of us shared each of the plates. I'd definitely come back.

Army Stew

The food is really tasty, we went in on the way back home from LA and it's pretty late (nearly close to closing time). The staff were kind and friendly. The waiter even gave us more side dishes as refills. Love their fish cake side dish and Napa cabbage Kimchi. We ordered "stone pot Bibimbap"," Corn Cheese", and "Army Stew". Corn cheese and Stone pot bibimbap were really nice and tasty. Army stew was still good yet could done better. Overall, this restaurant is 10/10.

Quick service, friendly/polite staff, large portions. Place was empty on a Thursday night.

This is a small unassuming and casual restaurant. Quiet music plays in the background. Charles, my server, was so very polite and attentive. I ordered the main dish #6 Spicy Chicken, it's marinated with sliced vegetables, rice included. I ordered mine lightly spicy and wish I had been a bit bolder with the spice. The chicken had a delightful flavor, it was moist, tender & perfectly cooked. My meal started with small servings of Kimchi, steamed umami broccoli, Kewpie mayo potato salad & marinated zucchini, delish! They have a menu with many tasty options. I will definitely be back soon to try more of their delicious options. Try them, you'll be glad you did.

LA short ribs and Brisket Soon Tofu, delicious!

Had a great date night here a few weeks ago. I've been here in the past but hadn't been here since the new menu came out. I wanted my guy to try Korean food for the first time. I am happy to report that he enjoyed the experience as well as the meal. Introduced the Bhan Chan and the LA short ribs and soon tofu. It was a great meal and I'm looking forward to trying some of the new items.

Bossam

I absolutely love Korean food and K Pocha is my favorite place in Bako to get it! I came on a weekend around 8pm for a late dinner. There were a couple other tables when we arrived, so we were immediately seated. The inside was very clean and comforting. We ordered the bossam and a fried rice dish to share. The bossam was super tender and flavorful. The fried rice was also quite delicious, but the bossam was the star. Overall, we had a great experience and I'll definitely be back for more!

Table for 5

I recommend this place for anyone who loves authentic Korean food. The portion sizes are a descent size. We were a party of 5 and we shared 4 entrees and a tteokbokkk appetizer. The tteokbokki was cooked perfectly but i wish it had a creamier sauce! The short rib was very flavorful and not over cooked. The restaurant is pretty small and they get busy. Unfortunately our waiter didn't check on us much. Their banchan was delicious and i wish we were able to get a few refills on our tables favorite ones. All in all I do plan on coming back and i can't wait to try more items on their menu.

A nice small korean restaurant with plenty of options, We came for the first time on friday night and just after seating, the place really kicked up. there was a nice atmosphere with music and good conversation. Service was a tad slow getting our drinks and order but the food made up for it. The tteokbokki was really good and the rice cakes were soft and bouncy and not too spicy, i do wish there was a rose tteokbokki option. The marinated boneless short rib had lots of flavor and retained the juices really well! my favorite was the beef brisket soft tofu soup, which was absolutely delicious, it had a generous helping of thin beef brisket, loads of soft tofu and a nice egg yolk in the center and green onions, overall the dish was flavorful, hot and filled me right up. All dishes came with banchan and rice.

Battered fried chicken

Don't be fooled by the exterior. While outside, it looks like just any other restaurant, their Korean food here is so authentic and probably one of the best in town. They serve banchan while waiting for your food. Everything is so flavorful and I always loved the variety, giving your palate different flavor profiles, getting you ready for your meal. Their battered fried chicken is perfectly seasoned and tender. Their bibimbap is equally good, just make sure you put the right amount of sauce and mix well! My husband and I shared both and we still had enough to take home. Customer service is excellent as well! Definitely going back!

The service was so friendly, quick, polite, and helpful! The food omg is one of the best Korean food in town!!! Finally!!! You cannot go wrong with anything on the menu. Everything is flavorful. Tastes very much true to Korean cuisine. I love this place!

Banchan

What a treat for southwest bakersfield! First time here and it was so so yummy. Service was fast and friendly and food came out fast. The restaurant itself is smaller but not tiny and has a good amount of seating. I enjoyed the banchan, kimchi pancake, and bibimbap all were so delicious. It was filling and a great price. I will be back with friends!

Edward L.

Friendly service and freshly made. The waiter was very patient in explaining to me all my silly questions. Generous Banchan portions and authentic flavors.

The bibimbap rice also had very little flavor and did not get very crispy on the hot stone. The star of the show was definitely the veggie pancake - super crispy and flavorful even without egg. We loved the sauce that it came with! The server was super nice and made sure to separate the vegan banchan from the non-vegan banchan. She was also very attentive and double checked with the chef to make sure all our dishes were vegan.

I hate to give this update but there needs to be better management and supervision. We came in…read morearound 430 in the afternoon & more than half the restaurant was vacant but the staff all seemed to be "on break" with numerous tables waiting to be bussed! The food is always 5 star, once you can get it & order... also super slow if you need anything after the initial order. The bathroom ceiling is about to cave in due to leaks, stains on the walls & the view of the kitchen was super messy, dirty floors! Please do better!! Our family loves KBBQ & try to support this establishment but it is difficult in these conditions. There is more business to be had with better staffing and attention to details To be honest there are more workers today than other times I have seen yet they have more empty tables than full ones. It's a bad use of the overhead when they have empty tables but are making people wait 30 minutes or more to be seated. While it seems like there is only 1 server, the 3-4 other people are Moving slowly for whatever their job responsibilities are. Oh another thing, how can a Korean BBQ be out of "rice paper" which has been the case the last few times we are here... the ban chan could use an upgrade as well

It was not it... although, I might be to blame because maybe I didn't know how it's supposed to be seasoned with the salt and sides. Also, a little overpriced for not being AYCE. Overall, though, we weren't disappointed - again, because Yizel made it a top tier experience!
