Kimchee Korean is a solid place that likes to do Korean food the way it should be done. Clearly from home cooked Korean food, you can get typical western favorites and some traditional items. This is the first restaurant I have seen in Bakersfield to serve Samgyetang! Done properly, cornish hen, glutinous rice, healthy and hearty. Delicious and enough to take home. My family particularly enjoyed the tteokbokki here compared to other places. Great texture. Our server, wish I got her name, was holding the fort down by herself on the Sunday. Seemed very educated on Korean culture and cuisine without being Korean herself. Clearly knew more besides what she needed to know to work there.

Small family owned Korean restaurant in Bakersfield. The food is authentic and delicious and cooked with love by a real Korean mother. The restaurant is nice and clean. Staff are friendly and welcoming and feel like family. We are new to the area but this will in all likelihood become a go to spot for us. If you're in the area this place is a must try! Atmosphere: 3/5 Service: 4/5 Food: 4/5 Value: 4/5 Total: 3.75/5 Price: $ Rating Criteria: Based on comparisons to other establishments in the area 1/5: Terrible, would not recommend 2/5: Might be worth it depending on price and other factors. 3/5: Solid option. Average in this category for the area. 4/5: Above average and excels in this area. 5/5: Excellent, needs no improvement Pricing Criteria: Based on what we spent $: $0 - $50 per person $$: $50 - $100 per person $$$: $100 - $200 per person $$$$: $200 - $500 per person $$$$$: $500+ per person Please be mindful that reviews are based on personal experience which may differ from person to person based upon a multitude of factors (individual/specific workers, time of day, personal preferences, etc). Pricing may also differ and is reflected here based on what we paid for our meal. We typically enjoy multiple courses with our meals including appetizers, salads, entrees, desserts, and sometimes drinks or tasting menus when available. Please do your own research if concerned about potential pricing.

I've become a little bit of an obsessed regular of Kimchee Korean, but when the food is this delicious, how could I not be?? I've had my eye on their whole fried chicken since seeing a picture of it on Yelp and a video of the audible crunch. The chicken was heavenly. Light yet full of flavor. The skin has such a beautiful crunch and texture to it. Shoutout to Kiersten and the whole team at Kimchee Korean! They're always so friendly and take so much pride in their restaurant. I love recommending Kimchee Korean to folks!

Today was my 3rd time visiting Kimchee. I have never been disappointed! The staff are welcoming and the food is great! Definitely worth giving a try!

Finally gave this place a try. First off, this place is located in a plaza with plenty of parking and are next or close to other amazing spots like Trader Joe's. The place itself is pretty clean, spacious and organized. The servers were super friendly and accommodating. Got their army stew and boneless korean fried chicken. The army stew was a little too hot for me but it was good. The broth, noodles, sausage, rice cakes, and kimchi complemented well with each other. Their boneless chicken was so crispy on the outside and juicy on the outside. The sauce that it came with looked like a condensed milk but it was really good. It was our first time but definitely not the last time. Highly recommend this place!

Pretty large restaurant. Smells amazing. Cannot wait to try

Recently opened spot by a Korean family. The mom cooks everything fresh daily and came out to say hi to us. Food was definitely made with love including the bonchan. We enjoy all of it and it wasn't too expensive. Kalbi was very tender Soft tofu stew mild with seafood was tasty Ramen beef was slightly salty with more chewy beef but my daughter loved the ramen noodles Bulgogi bibimbap really good. Also got an extra purple rice for free. Peach soju also delicious. Overall excellent service and a good meal

The place has a nice atmosphere. I thought the menu was a little short, not a lot of options. I ordered the spicy chicken ramen with added tofu and garlic.. It wasn't too spicy. The broth was alright. I had to add some soy sauce and kimchi to give it an extra boost. The kimchi is VERY good. I'm picky with my kimchi. I hate when you can tell the kimchi hasn't been fermenting long and the flavor isn't fully saturated into the cabbage. This place... chef kiss to kimchi! I got the yangnyeum mand u (spicy pork dumplings). I wasn't expecting it to be sweet. I was hoping for more salty and spicy. But they were still good. The added sides were all seasoned very well.

We just stopped by this place on the way from SF, and loved it! The food was amazing, great customer service, the Korean lady came out to greet us even. We tried tofu soup, kimchi stew and Mandu soup. Everything was so good and clean inside as well. Highly recommend it if you're in need of a traditional Korean food.

My wife and I just went here for the first time and we were blown away both by the hospitality and the food. Everything tasted so fresh and flavorful, and you can tell it's made with care. The side dishes are a 10/10!!! crisp, fresh, and absolutely delicious!! The ambience is also lovely. We also learned the restaurant is family-owned by a mom, dad, and daughter, which makes it even more special. They were all so kind and welcoming, it truly felt like eating at someone's home :) The food quality is excellent! clean, fresh, and authentic. I especially love that they serve purple rice at no extra cost... it's such a nice, healthy touch! The whole experience was perfect and we can't wait to come back and try more of their dishes. Great food. Great people. Great quality. Bakersfield is lucky to have this gem! Can't wait to be back

Heard good things about this place and finally got to try it out. Friendly staff and cute little place with comfy leather chairs and plenty of tables. We ordered the dumplings and the army stew and they were delicious. The dumplings were flavorful and soft, pretty much melts in your mouth. The army stew is made in house and is probably one of the best I've ever had. It comes with cheese, noodles, spam, sausage, rice cake, and rice on the side. Unfortunately they were all sold out of gimbap already by 2pm so we weren't able to try those. Will definitely be back to try other things on the menu and get a nice warm pot of army stew!!!

Been craving Korean food and this place hit the spot! The food was beyond delicious and enough to feed us both, and then some.... And the service? Geez! We felt like we were family walking in to mom's kitchen (Happy belated birthday to her, btw). Mom came out and greeted everyone, checked how the food was, and interacted with every single person at every table. I immediately told my friend's and family we were coming here when they come to town.

Korean pork mandu, shrimp fried rice, soft tofu soup, and boricha.

Delicious tofu soup & crispy Korean pancakes! The complimentary boricha felt like halmeoni's warm, comforting hug in a cup.

The moment you sit down and hear that first sizzle on the grill, you know you're in for more than dinner. You're about to enter a delicious little universe where time slows down, everyone leans in, and the table becomes the heart of the evening. There's something magical about cooking together at Kalbi King. One person becomes the self-appointed Grill Master, another becomes the Sauce Explorer, and someone inevitably declares themselves the Chief Lettuce Wrap Architect. Before you know it, everyone's laughing, flipping, grabbing side dishes, and building the perfect bite like a tiny edible masterpiece. And the meats--oh, the meats. High-quality, tender cuts that cook beautifully right before your eyes, caramelizing into smoky, juicy perfection. The kalbi is the undisputed star, but the pork belly, bulgogi, and marinated chicken hold their own like a talented supporting cast. Each bite feels like a round of applause in your mouth. Don't even get me started on the sides. The banchan lineup comes marching in like a whimsical parade--kimchi with personality, pickled veggies bursting with tangy charm, fluffy rice ready to join the party. Everything feels fresh, generous, and crafted with care. But the real reason Kalbi King stands out? It turns a meal into a family moment. You're not just eating--you're sharing stories, dodging smoke puffs, laughing at slightly overcooked slices, and cheering when someone nails the perfect grill timing. It's the kind of place where you leave full, happy, and already planning your next visit. One thing I noticed was the mix of different tables and chairs throughout the restaurant. It almost feels like a hodgepodge of furniture, but somehow it works and fits the contemporary vibe rather than feeling out of place. The food was excellent, the service was friendly, and the prices were very reasonable. We received our food surprisingly fast, which was a nice bonus. There was a mistake with one of our rolls, but the staff handled it well. They quickly remade the roll and brought us a replacement at no charge, which I really appreciated. One of the highlights was a custom roll with jalapeño, avocado, and asparagus. I added cream cheese and had it deep fried, and it honestly tasted like a sushi version of a jalapeño popper. It was absolutely amazing and something I would order again in a heartbeat. Overall, it was a great experience from start to finish. The bathroom and the restaurant is very clean. And the staff was very attentive, professional, and very pleasant. I enjoyed the food I ordered via DoorDash, but this time I got it fresh right out of the kitchen and the counter, and it was amazing. We started with the jalapeño bomb, and mixed tempura in a size small. Both those appetizers were delicious and perfect for sharing. We could've easily shared our meal with two other people needless to say we had leftovers to take home. I definitely recommend this place and I look forward to going back. There are other things on the menu such as fried rice, udon, and teriyaki plates. They also had a couple of desserts, so I am definitely planning on trying one of those. Enjoy!
