Booked this rather last minute, as it was a last minute vacation and the more popular snorkeling excursions were sold out. We met them on the beach as directed, and then we're ferried to the main boat from the dinghy in several groups, which took a few minutes. We spent a good chunk of time boating over to the first location, which was a ways away. I'm not sure if this was typical or not, but it was super rocky, and I watched an entire family get seasick and throw up several times. Is that our fault for choosing this location? If it *IS* typical conditions, is it the fault of the captain for not picking a less rocky site? We didn't throw up, but we were definitely nauseated and didn't even snorkel at the second site. Same went for that whole family that got seasick, lol. The snorkeling was fine, equipment was in good condition, and the fish were... ample enough. I'll give it up to the two crew members on the boat, they were helpful, friendly, and got us well-situated and kept us safe. The captain on the other hand, I'll agree with another reviewer, is that he seemed unnecessarily short/sarcastic with some nauseated passengers (and then overtly flirty with a few others, but I'm not going to broach that here...). I witnessed him get really short with an Asian woman trying to figure out how to lock the bathroom door and flush the toilet, which on a boat is not typical common knowledge. The food and drinks they provided were pretty good, very basic snacks and drinks that help us over until lunchtime. With more time and planning, I'd probably book with a snorkeling tour that's a bit more popular, and that goes to a more popular and less rocky site. read more

Where do I start?! When I made the reservation we assumed it would be one of the big, lots of people charter boats. This was not!!! It was much smaller and personal. There were about 24ish people and 3 crew members. We got brought on to the boat and sat. While we were making the 30ish minute ride to the first snorkel stop we were offered donuts/pastries, fruit and drinks. After the first stop they offered more drinks, chips, and cookies. There was a second stop we went to and had lots of fun at. The crew on this trip, willow, Tex, and Dave were awesome. We are a family of 6 and our youngest is 9. They were so supportive and helpful with my 9 year old. She loved it and was so excited to be able to go snorkeling. Throughout the whole day the crew was amazing. Helpful and informative. A bunch of the people on board were first timers on Maui and he told us a bunch of island history and facts. I would absolutely recommend this company and snorkeling trip. It was small and personal. The crew were amazing and so willing to help if needed. We will definitely be booking a snorkel trip thru here again. We all had a great day and loved it!! The insane jet boat ride was INSANE!! It's a great adrenaline rush like the thrill of a roller coaster & water ride combined without the extreme ups and downs of the "hills". Instead you get the spinning circular motions, high speed bumps, sharp turns left and right and a good drenching of sea water with each and every turn of the boat. We were lucky on the day of our excursion as there were pods of dolphins that we got to watch. We started in Ka'anapali and travelled as far as the southern end of Lahaina. It was well worth the 2 hours at sea! During our trip, Captain Dan stopped occasionally to explain the facts of the island and/or history. He even let us all jump out of the boat and into the ocean. This is definitely an activity worth doing while on Maui. The only downside is that there are no photographic memories of this experience. The boat is not equipped to take any pics and while they say you could rent a GoPro, I couldn't find the kiosk that I could ask for a rental. read more

Really sad to be writing this review since the tour generally was positive even though I had thrown up 3x. Jacob and Daniel were really nice and welcoming and it was not a bad tour. My two stars is for captain Dan. In 4 separate occasions, he was unnecessarily sarcastic and straight up rude for no reason. If he just assumed good intent, he wouldn't have left such a sour taste in our mouth. The 4 such occasions: 1) when we got into the small boat to go to the bigger boat, I asked how the conditions on the water was. I'm well aware of myself and was just trying to mentally prepare. I've taken Dramamine, the ear naseua patch, ginger candy, the wrist bands, and drank plenty of water. Ofc I didn't want to throw up since that makes for a crappy experience but it was an innocent question. His response 'I can see what you see' 'it's like if you know you're gonna be sick drinking tequila and you ask for the tequila' Ok so that's not the same situation and a terrible analogy. Honestly, a simple 'I'm not sure, haven't been out there yet' would have been sufficient. Or I wrongfully (?) assumed that he would know the water conditions since... he's a captain and this is what he does for a living. But I brushed this off. So after I threw up 3x... bc of the waves (not his fault, I have a low tolerance for motion sickness and I'm aware) 2) when I genuinely asked how I can better prepare to not have such bad motion sickness next time... once again, I was met with an unhelpful answer 'I've never had motion sickness before, you're asking the wrong person, just go jump off the front of the ship.' I didn't need a step by step answer but anything but what he said would have been helpful. vs Jacob helpfully told me to just get back into the water and hopefully the coldness/generally not being in a higher place will make it better 3) right before I threw up, I asked if I should come back onto the ship and his response 'I can't tell you not to come onto the ship but the higher you are, the more shaky it is.' Ok that's fair, finally something helpful! But he immediately followed up with 'Dont throw up on our snorkel gear.' Are you serious, why the hell would I want to throw up on your gear and also it wasn't even your gear, it's mine! 4) And you know I was just going to ignore all of this and assumed maybe he was having a bad day But by now, I've thrown up 3+ times, I'm not feeling good, I haven't eaten anything, only drank water that I brought onto the boat myself, didn't dirty anything up, was gonna write a good Yelp, TripAdvisor, etc review, AND tipped (30 dollars). I grabbed two bananas so I can eat it when I land back onto the water because once again, I HAVENT HAD ANYTHING (not their pineapple or their donuts or any drinks, like literally nothing). And he saw the two bananas in my bag and aggressively grabbed it out of my bag. Interaction went like this: - Me getting into the boat with my bag and 2 bananas on top - Dan sees it and says 'I still have another snorkeling tour later to give these bananas to' (btw, there are probably still 40+ bananas) - Dan aggressively grabs them out of my bag and throws it to one of the guys - Dan says 'WE ARENT RUNNING A GROCERY STORE HERE' - Me so shocked.. and says 'I was hoping to eat a banana once we get back to the land since I haven't had anything to eat in the last 4 hours' - Dan ignores my comment - Other lady on the boat visibly upset listening to this interaction and telling me on land that was SO uncalled for and so unnecessary since she was also feeling sick and would have liked a banana. I verified with her later that we weren't being greedy selfish pricks like Dan thought we were but was genuinely just trying to feel better post the tour. And you know what, I reevaluated and thought about it. It would have been ok if he took the bananas and just informed us and said we don't allow people to take the food off, fine ok EVEN if I haven't had anything on your damn boat but the fact that he had NO empathy towards his guests who wasn't feeling well and then making that sort of unnecessary comment was just too much. 3 comments, ok fine but if he just had any ounce of empathy for someone who was just throwing up and only starting to feel better , he wouldn't have been such a jerk and making us feel our whole day is ruined because of him. This was over a freaking banana, honestly, if you're tired and taking it out on your customers, then maybe you should take a break. I would like to believe he wasnt racist but who knows, we were the only Asians on the boat. Either way, I'll book earlier next time for our next adventures with sea Maui or triology bc I would rather take my money somewhere to someone who actually has empathy and IS NICE and doesn't make me feel like a complete idiot. I will also make sure to not recommend this tour to any of my Asian friends. No thanks. read more

The insane jet boat ride is an absolute must. We had the best time on this trip. We didn't want it to end. Started the ride alongside a pod of spinner dolphins. I had never been so close to dolphins in my life and there were over a hundred of them surrounding the boat and jumping in the air. The boat goes very fast and it's a great ride for thrill seekers. You will get soaked and expect saltwater to hit your face. It's not for the faint of heart. Dave also made the trip informative and taught us a lot of new information about Hawaii. It's a fun ride and a good family activity. Kids that love amusement parks would love this ride. read more

DO NOT BOOK. Especially if you found them on GROUPON !! Before even TRYING to book I looked at reviews both on Yelp and Groupon. I saw the last review given and I should have taken that sign but I decided to give them a chance. Without even getting there I'm having the worse experience even with their customer service. The lady on phone is so rude and can careless to help you especially if your coming from Groupon like it's not her problem you're having a hard to book on THEIR website. Groupon gives 1voucher code for 4ppl their websites asked for 4 different codes and they can careless about trying to help you get those other codes she said "I don't know everyone figures it out so you'll have to figure that out with Groupon ". I feel bad writing this mediocre review. They seem like really nice people, and I enjoyed working with Barbie the office lady. I wouldn't book a private snorkel excursion unless you have like 6 hours. We booked 4 hours, it took 2 hours to get to the snorkel spot, which left us only 40 minutes to actually snorkel. The reviews I read were for captain Dan, we had his daughter Danny. She was a fine captain but was not very communicative- we didn't know where we were snorkeling, no fun stories of the area, the snorkeling spot wasn't great, and I wish they had communicated exactly how much time we had to snorkel. We felt we had time and were being kinda relaxed about it then very shortly we were told to get in the boat as we were leaving. I thought 30 minutes of the time was wasted between not being able to unhook the boat from the anchor, and not being able to find the anchors at the snorkeling spot. Which is whatever... but that is $250 dollars when you have it for 4 hours. Basically I planned this for my family, we did see a pod of dolphins which was absolutely amazing. I didn't think the snorkeling was great, the personalization of experience and interaction definitely needed improvement. The boat was very clean, we felt very safe... I just didn't think it was worth it for the money. Family thought it was short and some of them thought "lame" as they felt it was mainly a boat ride and not a snorkeling trip. I had fun, but it didn't meet my expectations (from reviews and talks with the company). The dolphins really made the trip for me. read more

My family and I had SO MUCH fun on this excursion, and the guides were very friendly and insightful from beginning to end (despite the amount of rowdy children that accompanied us on the boat). They provided reef-safe sunscreen, snacks, drinks, music, and snorkeling gear to everybody which I also thought was nice. Out on the water I saw AT LEAST 5 sea turtles, a needle fish, and SO MANY COLORFUL FISH swimming around! Even if I didn't see as much of the marine life as I did, I would still rate this trip a 10/10 because of how organized, professional, and welcoming everyone was. Captain Dan took us on an adventurous, fast, and wet ride during the first week of July. Made reservations over the phone for the three of us, and everything was as we were told it would be. Leave your personal belongings behind as you will get wet. They have a dry bag on the boat for wallets and phones. He even took us up to a small cove were the guests could jump in and climb some rocks and dive in from a small cliff. My two kids loved that part as well. I rarely write negative reviews out of sheer respect for the labor of others and the services they provide no matter how lacking they are but the person running this office earned a one star review single handedly. We made a reservation on the phone for a 4-person snorkeling trip and we were told to show up by 7:15 and that the boat was leaving by 7:45. We confirmed the information over the phone twice and we were told to be at the docking spot at 7:15 multiple times. When we called in the morning at 7:00am because our GPS said we'd be there at 7:22am, we were told we would be counted as no shows and the boat would leave without us at 7:15. We understandably were surprised and asked if the boat could possibly wait for us? The boat captain said this was impossible and provided the phone number of the office so we could see about rescheduling for a fee. The woman at the office did very little listening and a lot of repetition of the same information interrupting rudely while we politely asked to reschedule. I don't know what was going on in this person's life but unloading on her customers while they are trying to communicate and problem solve is uncalled for. Stay away from here and book with one of the many other companies offering the same services. Nobody deserves this kind of treatment at any time, let alone during your precious vacation time. read more

From the first phone call with Barb, to the moment we had to hop off the boat at the end of our 4+ hour snorkeling adventure, everything was so professional, pleasant, and over the top FUN! ! We saw it all... Spinning dolphins, hundreds of and hundreds of amazingly beautiful fish in sparkling clear water, and to top it off, we got up close and personal with a mama whale and her calf. My friends and I did the half day snorkel and whale watching tour. The boat was great: clean, organized and had a lot of room to move around. The crew was awesome. They were friendly, very knowledgeable and engaging. They took us to a few spots around Lanai. If the visibility was not up to pare they went out of their way to take us even further to get better views under water. The snorkel spots were awesome! They cancelled on us for no reason less than 24 hours of our trip and then when our kids came down with colds we had to cancel our rescheduled trip and they wouldn't refund. There were several options for snorkeling but KOA seemed good and turned out to be great. Captain Kevin was very knowledgeable about snorkeling and was a good teacher for first timers. The boat was very comfortable and traveling over waves was easy with no queeziness. The crew was very helpful and went out of their way to make sure you were comfortable and had plenary for snacks and drinks. The breakfast had a good assortment of muffins, pastries, and donuts along with a good variety of fruit and cold drinks. We saw dolphins, a turtle, and many colored fish. OH MY GOODNESS! I cannot rave enough. Captain Dan and Robert were AMAZING! We did the speed boat trip and it was by far my favorite excursion here on Maui! They made sure we had the best time! He would stop after a few big spins and let us regroup, and gave some history on the island. We also were out in the middle of the ocean and he let us jump off and swim for a bit. I went on the sanity boat today and it was amazing. They had great hospitality and were all so kind. We got to see so many dolphins and whales right in front of us! We took a beautiful boat ride to lanai and went to a few snorkel spots, they even provided all the gear for us. Being a environmental friendly boat they provided reef safe sunscreen, which is key! What an AMAZING experience ! My sister and I went on the insane boat and the snorkel tour and we couldn't be happier with the cleanliness of the boat , the charisma from the crew, and the good vibes we had the whole trip ! The insane boat is a must try , super exhilarating! The snorkel tour was also an amazing experience , the ride over to the spot was beautiful and they take you to two different snorkel areas with beautiful fish that you wouldn't be able to see from your hotel beach. The crew would also keep their guests pleased by walking around offering drinks , food , and even to clean your sunglasses after the trip was over ! Can't say enough about this experience! We did the snorkeling tour and it was absolutely perfect! We saw a bunch of whales on our way to the first snorkeling location. Even saw a mom and calf breach together! The staff was very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. They were quick to help with all aspects of snorkeling and told us so much about the islands and their history. They provided snacks, drinks, sunblock, and the boat has a canopy to kerp you out of the sun. The coral reef was beautiful and the turtles were so close! Great intimate trip. Dan and Jacob are extremely experienced (40 years in business) and knowledgeable about the area. Dan's family has been on Maui for 150 years. He grew up as a competitive surfer and now is in the tourist industry. He shares so many stories and details about the islands during the trip. Both of them were really friendly and helpful. Went jet boating with Captain Dan! If you want some high speed time on a boat this is the hour of fun you are looking for! Did some wet and fun spins and some halted stops to get extra wet. We went all the way to the cliffs, jumped out of the boat, went cliff diving, and swam back to the boat; A grand entrance and exit! $60 per head for the hour. They try to point out some areas on the shore to let you know where you are. Great playlist as well! The boat can fit up to 25 and need a minimum of 4. Def give this a try! We did the snorkeling tour to Lanai. There are not a lot of snorkelers that are allowed to go here so running into others was never a problem. Captain Dan went out of his to find us the best locations and demonstrated more than once his skills on maneuvering his boat whether around coral or on the waves in open water. Willow, our guide/host/lifeguard and all around do'er of everything else, was amazing. She was very informative, super energetic, and was always upbeat and positive. While we had better snorkeling experiences just outside our condo, but the trip was well worth it to see Lanai up close, the boat ride views, donuts, and the dolphins (Bottlenose and Spinners)! We followed a pod of dolphins and got to whale watch while on our jet boat ride which was wet and wild and crazy! He also stopped and let those of us jump into the ocean that wanted to. We had a great half day snorkel tour to Lanai. We saw tons of dolphins and the coral was the most colorful and beautiful I've seen in Hawaii. There were tons of fish and even a turtle sighting. They had great refreshments, plenty of room and great, friendly staff. We bought the groupons and my kids enjoyed it a lot. Note that you get shuttled out to the boat in raft type boats and then take the Sanity boat out (not the super fast boat on this tour.) would recommend to others- enjoy!
