This is the best Afghan restaurant in Las Vegas. The quality of fare is outstanding, as is the service and the ambience. When we dine there, my wife usually has the beef-centric dish (#1) and I usually go with the lamb-centric dish (#5). You can call your order in for pickup or just call it in so it's ready when you get there. I love that flexibility. Our server, Amanzad, epitomizes the customer service Kabob Express is known for. He made a very helpful suggestion to me when I didn't want soda to drink with my meal, and suggested the organic fruit juice mixture they have on hand. It was delicious and really brought out the seasoning in the main entree. They've changed the interior of the restaurant a few times, but one of the things that never changes is the image of the Afghan girl who appeared on the cover of National Geographic all those years ago. My first time here so I didn't know what to expect. I ordered the combo to get a taste of everything. Amanzad took my order and brought it to my table when it was ready. He's very friendly so top marks for customer service. The food was delicious, very well prepared and perfectly cooked. The salad was nice and garlicky, the bread had a nice sweetness to it, but the most memorable part of the meal was the rice. It's a long grain, soft, moist, and buttery textured rice that just made the meal that much better. I highly recommend you try it!! read more

Our first time here and if not for the long wait it would've been a 5 star. The other reviews appreciated the friendliness of the staff and they are really wonderful. We got in at 11:30 and they open at 11 and they are already working on a huge order. There were only another couple that dined in after us and the food came out really slow. It was very tasty and a lot for the price. I had the kofta kabob for less than $10 and my friend got the steak and kofta for about $12. I got home late from work so my girlfriend and I decided to go for a drive down Tropicana and try and find some food. After 10 minutes of driving we ended up settling on Kabob for the 2nd time in a week and got dinner at Kabob Express. This place offers all the Kabob favourites that you would expect from beef, pork, and chicken and even some solid appetizers and desserts to fill that stomach. I ended up ordering what I believe was called the Sultani Kabob which consisted of ground beef kabob and one that would resemble more of a steak kabob, this meal was served with basmati rice and salad. The salad had what I believe was Tzatziki sauce and tasted very good. The basmati rice was alright, although not as flavourful as some Ive had in the past. The kabob's were very tasty and cooked very well. The seasoning on both kabob's were very nice and the light charcoal gave a nice grill flavour. Both kabob's get a big thumbs up from me. Overall, although Kabob Express is not the best kabob place i've ever been too, it's a darn solid place overall. The food was good and came out super quick, the staff was friendly enough, and the restaurant itself offered a good amount of seating. Kabob Express is on my top list for Authentic Afghan cuisine. I greatly enjoy having delicious comfort food and good service here. The restaurant is very clean. There's about 7 to 8 tables which can seat 4 people. The environment has more of an earthy feel with simple floral decor and beautiful artwork. They play a nice selection of mix songs from Afghanistan, Iran, and India. It's nice to dine in during the day because there is so much lighting. Also it's great that they keep the fan on. I like the cool breeze inside. The only downside I see is that there is no public restroom available. On my first visit, I had the Broni Badenjan ($8.95) which is a cooked eggplant dip that is topped with yogurt and serve with basmati rice, salad, and bread. The eggplant dip has a good flavor and it's tasty with the basmati rice. I got a side order of fries that are big and crispy which I love. On the menu, they have a Homemade Yogurt Drink ($2.45) and I was curious about how it taste. It came with a lot of herbs. I was under the impression the drink would be sweet, but it taste like drinking a cup of watered-down Tzatziki. I'm just not used to this drink, maybe it's an acquired taste? I think I'll just stick with having an iced tea. My next visit is a better experience. I ordered the Chicken Shawarma ($6.95) and a second serving of fries ($2.45). The Chicken Shawarma has lettuce, tomato, and chicken wrapped in a soft pita bread. The meat is nicely seasoned and grilled, it taste so good! I would love to order one more just like this. I notice the fries look smaller than my first visit. It seem a little flimsy and not as crispy. I am hoping they bring back the bigger size fries. The small fries just doesn't work for me. They do have a soda fountain and a small fridge where you can choose your drink. I've also tried #3 Chicken Breast Kabob ($8.95) which has great flavor. It's serve with basmati rice that is fluffy, a green salad that is mainly chopped lettuce, some dressing, and there's tomato, cucumber, and cilantro. Even if it's just a simple salad, it's still refreshing to have and it goes well with bread. They complement the meal with Tzatziki and a jalapeño chili pepper sauce that taste amazing. Overall, the food is flavorful and delicious. Plus the staff is very welcoming and friendly. They acknowledge and greet every customer that walks in. They are so polite and accommodating and make time to check up on the customer. If you decide to order for take out, they offer food delivery service. They pack the food well and they will go to great extent to ensure the order is correct. read more

We got the Sultani Kabob which is a combination of their beef kabob and kafta. I've never had kafta before, for those of you who haven't either it's kind of like a seasoned beef patty! Just an update from my previous review, the owner of the restaurant reached out to me and was very nice and offered to find a way to make up for my experience. I didn't see the message for a long time, but he remembered me even months later, and so we spoke, and he was very nice and asked for a chance to make things better. I went in and I had a meal and it was very good as always because my problem was not with the food but with the service the day I came last and I just appreciate a good owner That treats his customers well. When I return to the restaurant, I also dealt with the same gentleman that I dealt with from the last time that I really didn't have a good experience at all. I plan to return to this restaurant. This gentleman was very kind and it was a much better experience, so maybe it was just a bad day but they left me frustrated and that was my experience so I appreciate the owner making things better because food is good. read more

Even if we live far away from this restaurant, we love to come here at least twice a month for the delicious food at Kebob Express! If you crave Kabobs, this is the place my friends! Amanzad, the server is always kind and so respectful and patient. He is taking care of all of us with pride and a big smile. We usually cater food for parties as well.
