I first learned about Govinda's Café at the Holi festival at Sunset Park a few years ago. I thought the food was delicious so I always had it in the back of my mind that I would visit their restaurant one day. The day finally came, I wanted something healthy and vegan, and Govinda's Café popped into my mind. The gentleman who greeted us was very kind, he directed us into the direction of the buffet, honestly I don't know if they have a lunch menu to order from. While the food was very good, and there was a lot to choose from, I felt that transparency with regard to price per person was not clear. The young man who helped us brought fried spinach and potato dumplings, and some type of round bread. I don't eat a lot of Indian food and I'm not too familiar with the names. It's was certainly a very interesting restaurant with a charming venue for events. I would definitely come back to check out some of their weekend events in the future. The space was clean and simple and I felt as though I could have been visiting an Ashram in India or one of the many yoga retreats centers in the U.S. I would return, but I would definitely clarify pricing and ask for a menu to see if there are any other options. read more

Food was the shittiest food I ever ate in my life. The server, Prem served me a veggie burger that had frozen cheese on it and the bread was hard, dull and frozen as well. The party was dry and old and the veggies were old. I also got a side salad with it which had barely anything on it and was old. This is the third day in a row I ate here and the food served here was old, cold and shitty. The server Prem who claims to be a Hare Krishna and holier than thou greeted me and my friend with a dirty look and has a very dark energy about him. The Hare Krishnas are noted for changing over the food as they prepare it and serving food with a positive vibe, but the experience I had was quite the opposite. I ate here repeadly in the past and at the time I initially care the food was served with more love and a positive attitude but after spending close to $3000 at their restaurant, I have been disrespected and they have decided to provide shittier service. I was visiting Las Vegas for the weekend and arrived about 4 hours before all of my friends, so I decided to get dinner at this restaurant. I loved the idea that this cafe was connected to a temple. I was excited to try some yummy vegetarian food. When I lived in Dublin, Ireland, I ate from a vegetarian place called Govinda's almost every day, so I had high hopes for this place. When I arrived I was greeted by the strong smell of cleaning products. I will usually turn tail and run when a place smells weird, but a very nice lady came out and welcomed me. Mind you, the place was completely empty at 6.20pm. It's a buffet, so everything was out and waiting for me. I filled up my plate and, on my first bite, realized that all of the food had been sitting out for the past hour and a half and was completely dried out. Okra, which is usually my favorite, was like okra jerky. I think they really needed to keep the food covered to keep the moisture in. I took off two stars for the old dry food (the fried items were all super cold) but gave one back because the kind woman who was working there all by herself came out with some fresh pakora and fried flat bread special for me. The last star I took off because they use all Styrofoam plates and bowls and plastic utensils. I was surprised that such a spiritual place would use disposable flatware and cutlery, and Styrofoam at that. I wouldn't eat here again unless I arrived right at 5pm when they opened and I knew that the food would be fresh. The flavors were all there, but ultimately the food wasn't good because it had dried out in the buffett warmers. read more

While looking for a restaurant with vegan options open on Christmas Day, I happened to discover this restaurant offering a vegetarian/vegan buffet open on Christmas Day. After entering the temple where the cafe is located, I informed staff of husband's nut allergy and they came and showed him which items he couldn't eat. In addition to showing him buffet items containing nuts, the menu items were also clearly labeled. The restaurant is small but cozy. We liked the variety of food offered and how attentive the staff were. Staff was constantly walking around, asking about customer's dining experience, providing bread and drink to customers eating Although the food is good, I felt there was a lack of labels on most of the food and drink. Having said this, hubby and I discovered food was spicy only after eating it. I liked the laid back vibe of the cafe and hubby liked the soothing background music that was playing in the cafe. We both agree that with the savory and veggie filled dishes and close seating arrangement, we felt like we were spending Christmas in another country with our extended family. read more

Fantastic flavor, not too hot but very tasty spices. The freshly baked bread personally delivered to our table was heartbreakingly light and warm, crispy outside and soft inside- phenomenal. My favorite dish was the cauliflower - like aloo gobi, and the samosas. This is the first place I ate my first time visiting Las Vegas. And it was a great experience. I am glad that I chose this place. I did get turned around a couple times trying to find it, and when I finally did find it you have to drive through a gate to get to the parking area. At first I thought I was in the wrong area or I was going into a gated community that I was not supposed to be. But I took a chance and drove in, and I was in the right spot. The man at the counter was incredibly friendly. He asked me if I had ever visited before, and I told him no. He took me inside of the little room where there is seating and the small little buffet with the food. And he told me everything that they were serving that day by name. Everything tasted very homemade. It was delicious. While there are not tons and tons of options, the options that you do get seem to be enough for me and I left incredibly full. The place is inside of a temple. So don't let that throw you off when you are looking for it. All you have to do is walk through the doors, and it's immediately to your right. This was a great first experience at a place to eat for my first time in Vegas. If I'm ever in the area again, I will come back here. Fresh, homemade Indian vegan food and super friendly service. But this is predominantly Indian vegan, from my Indian state of Gujarat. The curries are not like tikka Masala or vindaloo. A meal here is more like a spiritual experience, food so fresh and authentic. Just like home cooked meal. All you can eat for $9.95, no tax. Closed on Monday's. The staff is very friendly. The usual buffet consists of one appetizer, like pakoras or samosa that is complemented beautifully with variety of chutneys (tomato, cilantro and tamarind), 3 vegetable curries and a lentil curry/dal. 2 types of rice, basmati and organic brown rice, one dessert. While in town for a large convention I was struggling to find a vegan restaurant. I was happy to find Govinda's Buffet but wasn't sure what to expect. The restaurant is inside a larger building space and takes up a very small area. Look this is super super basic. Basic and small seating area, very small buffet and the owners are there cooking and cleaning. What you will get is some really great vegan food from some really great people. There are usually 2 different types of rice, some sides and a few curries. You will also get a side of nann bread. Again this is super basic but for the price it is well well worth the price. After a relaxing massage, we thought it was a good idea for an all vegan Indian buffet. The restaurant is located inside a temple. We entered from the parking lot, were greeted and paid for lunch. We were instructed to help ourselves to a clean tray and unlimited servings from the buffet. The dining room was clean and quaint. For $10/person, we had a good amount of dishes to choose from: semolina pudding, eggplant curry, green salad, black beans, pakora, pasta, papadum, chapati and sauteed cabbage. There was an option for bottled drinks and dessert for an additional cost. I was fine drinking from the water cooler and halava with a sprinkle of coconut was a suitable dessert. Everything was flavorful, but my favorites were the cabbage and pakora. The dishes felt more on the lighter side of Indian food, which was ideal during our summer visit. read more

This is comfort food at its best. For $5 during covid, they provide a large meal that includes rice, roti, dal, bhaji and side. The food tastes satvik/clean which is refreshing, especially if you're feeling bogged down by reading all the double fried, greasy, extravagant food options around. They glitched our order by providing roti and samosa in place of puri and pakora but it's all good because we didn't go hungry in the end and their quantity and quality at that price amazes me. read more

This is a gem so close to strip inLas vegas ( about 15 to 20 minute drive) . We had lunch buffet for 3 days last week and it was a blessing. Having darshan at the temple - jappa and followed by wholesome vegetarian meal. Puris , Pakoras ( hot served from buffet and later to our table), sabzii -bhendi aloo, palak paneer, daal n rice, chouli along with broccoli, pasta and salad on the buffet counter as well. Along with long grain basmatic rice we had quinoa as well. The sweet dish were halwa with almonds and sevaiya....all served with love and care by Govindas staff. It is a very peaceful place so if you are in Vegas for a work conference or simply a vacation ...please visit this restaurant and enjoy....it is a spiritual experience. I had my friends from Canada also come along for a buffet lunch on Friday before we left Vegas and they were so happy to visit this place. read more

Simple Indian food - all vegan - limited options, interesting setting. It doesn't feel right to review Govinda's as a restaurant. It is a small room in the Radha Govinda Temple campus, which is part of the ISKCON community. (Aka the Hare Krishnas - so-named for their favorite mantra, which repeats some of the names of the Divine, including "Hare & Krishna") You will likely hear this mantra being played gently in the background while you dine. There are no servers or menus - and in terms of options, there are far fewer here than at most other Indian buffets. Basically, You take what you like from the steam table- which includes an appetizer, rice, a western-style salad, a soup, two or three vegan curries, a bread, and a desert. It is simple and delicious - but you basically get the meal that is being served today, and nothing is made to order. The space is intended to feed the devotees, workers, and volunteers at the Temple, to introduce outsiders to both Indian food and Krishna Consciousness, and to serve as an easy-entry point for the curious. If you have ny concerns about the folks here proselytizing or trying to convert you - don't worry. Certainly, if you ask, they'll share their beliefs, but this is not about enrollment. My bad experience was with the food, with all due respect this is not authentic indian food. For example, you'll find there pasta ... don't see the connection to indian food.
