We would have left, but we'd already been required to pre-pay before being seated, which felt like being held hostage to a bad experience. By the time we finally sat down, our youngest was falling asleep and never ate. The food itself was mediocre and bland, and our waitress was absent for most of the meal. We barely saw her. We spent $600 for an evening that started with public embarrassment and ended with a mediocre meal our own kid didn't even get to eat. This wasn't a one-off slip... it points to a real gap in how the front-of-house staff is trained on reservation handling and guest communication. I'd like to know what's being done to fix this, because as it stands, I can't recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Our server, Chris G came by to greet us and chat about the evening's specials. We each ordered a French Onion Soup. Wow - really good. Up front, it had a bit of a sweet flavor. Perhaps sweet onions being used. The sweetness disappeared and gave way to a rich broth. There was no shortage of onions or cheese in this soup. I'd count this among my top 5 French Onion Soups. For dinner, we shared a Steak Au Poivre. We went with the less expensive marinated sirloin version as it was about $18 less than the filet version. The sirloin version is pounded to about 1/4" thick, then marinated. We asked for it medium rare and I wasn't expecting it to come out that way as cooking a super thin steak to MR is difficult. But it came out perfect! The flavor was great and there was only a small amount of gristle in a couple of bites. This was the perfect value move. We really enjoyed our server, Chris. He was very knowledgeable and helpful. At dinner, we made the decision to return for breakfast in 2 days time. And that day is today (separate review). We enjoy eating at Mon Ami Gabi when we're in Vegas and will do so next time as well.
