This was my second time there. Great quality food with ton of flavor. Quality is good and so is the quantity. You can easily make one of their plates I to 2-3 meals depending on how much you eat. Recently they forgot my order of humus to go with my large purchase but it was on me to go back and pick it up. Option for future credit would've been nice but I didn't bother asking. So I just got both, not knowing what it was. My friend got the Shish Twook which was also recommended by the woman at the register. The chicken was very tender and juicy. I liked it a lot as much as my dish. I highly recommend eating here because they have this hot sauce that's not too hot/spicy but adds the perfect kick with the food in ketchup bottles at the tables. The two skewers of lamb kabobs are superb! Beef Koubideh (Kabob) - very good! Kabob Sultani - excellent! I loved the combo! Comes with one skewer of beef kabob and one skewer of Kabob Barg. Cilantro Tahini - very good Persian Salad and Tabouli - both are great! My go to choices are the Lamb Koubideh (Kabob) and/or Kabob Sultani! Best Mediterranean on Kedzie! I tried both the Beef Koubedah and Chicken breast entrée. Food was Zabiha Halal and did I mention the gigantic portion size of the entrees?!!! If you want to get Persian salad and hummus for free make your regular entree a dinner special,, it's not mentioned in the menu but the cashier told me this tip..Dining space is ample for large gatherings and there is some open air seating as well. This was a great Persian restaurant. We are visiting Chicago from California and we decided to try Persian food. We were nervous about Kabobi Grill because we had tried another Persian restaurant the night before which was awful. However, since we had heard that Chicago has great Persian food, we decided to give Kabobi Grill a chance too. We were staying in downtown Chicago, so it was about 25 minutes of a drive. The neighborhood was not good. But I must say, the restaurant was nice, it had a good ambience. You have to order your food and find a table. They bring your food and drinks. The busboy was amazing; he literally ran endlessly to clean tables, bring food and drinks and take care of everyone. This was Monday on a Labor Day weekend and the restaurant was very short handed. As far as food: it was great. They place lavash bread under rice and kabob. The kabob was cooked to perfection. The rice tasted just right. Kashke bademjoon was delicious. If you're looking for a Persian restaurant that has great kabobs, look no further. When I moved to Chicago I had difficulty trying to find a decent Persian place to get my fix at. However after looking at several places on Yelp, I decided to trek my way up the brown line to this place. It's been 2 years since and I still find myself riding the brown line to fulfill my kabob cravings. The place is a casual restaurant where you order at the register and then take a seat and have your food served to you. They recently expanded their dining area, making their seating area pretty huge (so bring all your friends). They have a variety of different Persian dishes, however I specifically come here to get kabobs. The kabob plates come with grilled tomato, sliced onion, rice, and bread under it all to absorb all the delicious juices. Onto the food: Beef Koubideh Kabob 3.5/5: This is the traditional beef kabob you would get at any Persian place. Juicy ground beef flavored with onion and that grilled goodness. They aren't amazing at this place, however it's good if that's what you're craving. Chicken Koubideh Kabob 4.5/5: So this is the one that really surprised me. I'm used to just the usual ground chicken in California, however here they mix a bunch of different herbs into the meat before grilling it to give it a heavenly fresh and seasoned flavor. I always get at least one of the chicken Koubideh when I order from here because it really is that good. Chicken Breast Kabob 3/5: My girlfriend ordered this once by accident for delivery, and needless to say she was disappointed. It isn't bad by any means, but the chicken koubideh really has a huge flavor burst that this one can't compare to. Barg Kabob 4/5: This is probably my favorite beef kabob. It's juicy succulent pieces of filet beef that have been grilled. My only complaint is that it has inconsistent cooking temperatures. Sometimes they cook it perfectly, and other times it's well done (well done beef is just pretty disappointing). Another slight irk is that if you get the combo of this with beef koubideh you need to pay an extra dollar or 2 to get chicken koubideh instead. Which is a pretty ridiculous thing since they are the same price. However if you're willing to spend the extra money go for it, and make sure it comes at LEAST medium well. Otherwise you might as well just get the beef kobideh for 5 dollars cheaper. Filet Mignon Shish Kabob 4/5: so this is essentially the barg kabob, but more in chunks. I prefer the barg more, however this one seems like it's more consistent with the cooking temperatures and it's cheaper with the combo I want. I now get the combo two which comes with the filet and your choice of a kobideh (chicken always for me). Rice (Basmati plain or dill) 4/5: With the meal you receive a huge( and I mean HUGE) amount of nice. Like seriously it's a decent portion for 4 people. But oh my goodness do I eat it all(usually as leftovers). My girlfriend loves the dill rice, but I prefer getting the plain and putting a copious amount of lemon and sumac on top. Signature Sauces 4/5: for only $1.25 you can add a couple sides of sauces to eat with your meal. I've tried several of them and honestly they all are really good. My favorite is the yogurt and cucumber sauce as it comes with chunks of fresh cucumbers to give it a really refreshing flavor. Each one is a decent size so don't expect a tiny cup of sauce. Dessert: Marmoul 4/5: I really enjoyed these as they are stuffed with different fillings. They are pretty small but they go perfectly with a cup of tea. Definitely a nice treat to have at the end of the meal The place has been getting pretty packed during rush hour, so expect to wait a little if you go during prime hours. If you don't want to wait you can always order delivery through their website or some other delivery site (like delivery.com). Overall I really love this place and will continue to be going up there for my kabob cravings. read more

It may look like your average neighborhood restaurant but Kabobi is anything but! I wandered in with my sister on a Friday night, and was immediately hit with an amazing aroma of food. We were greeted by the friendly staff at the front counter. I loved that we ordered our food at the counter and were served at the table. The restaurant seemed to fill up quickly (it was almost 7:00 pm) but we managed to snag a table. The food was hands down the best Persian food I have had with out question. My wife and I were finishing a long day of work and needed dinner late; our particular fast (no sugar, light on refined carbs) meant that meat and veggies are our common go-to's. I found Kabobi Grill in the area and ordered two of the Combo #1, and we were both thrilled with what we got: 1) The restaurant itself is charming, the staff is polite and attentive, and we had our pick-up order in hand within ten seconds of entering. Despite being around 10:20 at night, the grill was busy and they were churning through orders. Their speed of service is remarkable. 2) The proportions were unexpected; the bag of our two combos was HEAVY. They do not mess around--there was a hearty portion of meat (chicken and beef), a load of herbed rice, and four soft, warm pitas between us. 3) Everything was delightful, moist, and perfectly flavored. The meat was flawless. The rice was enchanting. The pitas (which we could only partially eat) were tantalizing for our diet. I highly recommend it, even if you don't often go for kabob places. This place is one of my absolute favorites for a meal anytime! They have variety of Kababs (Chicken, Lamb, Steak and Fish). In addition to kabobs, they also have lamb shank and Polo. You can try their lunch special which comes with 2 skewers of Kabab, hummus, salad, pita and rice or you can pick one from the combinations they have. They also are open late and have a late night menu. If you're in the area or around, I'd definitively recommend checking them out, and would suggest trying out the steak and chicken combo plate. As I type this review I'm scarfing down leftovers from my second Kabobi delivery order in one week. I'm almost ashamed, but it's too good to care. I'm normally not a huge fan of Persian/Mediterranean food, but a friend introduced me to the Caspian Kabobs (chicken marinated in pomegranate, garlic and walnuts) and I fell in love. When I ordered again a week later it was to get my hands back on that chicken. The best Persian food I've ever had! My brother in law is Iranian and we usually order from this one spot in Houston, but this beats any spot he's taken me to! This is my go to spot whenever I don't feel like cooking, or when I'm craving Persian food! The have the best cherry rice, additional +$4.95 but it's worth it ! They pack your boxes with so much food I always have leftover for days!! Our Persian friends tell us that this is THE PLACE to go in the Chicago area, so based on their recommendation, I went for lunch and loved it. It wasn't particularly busy on a Monday around noon, but after ordering and paying at the counter, the service provided by the waiter (brought water and the meal itself) was good. Lunch special today was lamb kabob, which was cooked medium rare to order, accompanied by tomato/cucumber salad, rice, hummus and pita. It was a gargantuan amount of food, but having not had breakfast, and given how good the food was, I was able to finish. On a future visit, I'd love to try the biryani and some of the other grilled dishes. read more

How the heck are places like this in business? Charged us an arm and a leg for two burned meals, runny hummus, and oily soup. And the kicker is they put the less-burnt side down, almost hoping we wouldn't notice. So they're probably dishonest and take very little pride in their food. Good Lord!
