    Sushi sashimi combo
    Alli W.

No. The 2 of us came by for dinner and despite only 4 tables were occupied and there were 2 waitresses, it took a while for them to take our order. Sushi sashimi combo- Some fish were fishy. Sushi rice in these nigiris was terrible: dry, no flavor, and didn't hold up its shape. Suki (beef) don - The older waitress brought chicken don over to us, saying she accidentally gave our beef to another table so she has their chicken order for us instead... we took it because we've already waited a while. Odd. They should've corrected their mistake instead of offering us another table's order. Service: Ugh. We asked for a box and check from the younger waitress. She said okay, left, and came back.... to clean the table next to ours. Reminded her again and she said okay. Brought over a box... and no check. Then she went serving other tables so we reminded her the 3rd time. Replied okay, went around again, and took a while to come back with the check. Might be a local favorite but Okawa is an easy pass for us. Won't ever come back here.

    The Godzilla.... spicy and delicious!

Stopped her for a late lunch/early dinner with my wife. The atmosphere is great and so is the service. The sushi was delicious. We shared a Godzilla, a Lion King Roll, and the Sushi Sashimi combo.... delicious! I'll definitely be back!

Food was okay. Some of them lacked flavor or were very fishy Service was not the best the owner/ manager was not nice and made rude comments when ordering. "That will be too much food are you sure about that" I can assure you that this was definitely not a lot of food. The waitress had made a mistake and gave us 2 salmon nigiri which we ate but it happened to be for another table. This was my first time here so we assumed it came with our order or not sure. The waitresses got scolded as well multiple times during different times throughout our stay. The waitress did not look happy at all. Which is a shame she was treated that way over $4.50. The manager came over and told us it was for another table and charged us for it but did not let us know they would be charging us they just put it on our tab. We didn't mind paying it for because it made sense but a notice would have been great. The way they give you the receipts was confusing it's just a hand written paper with your order and the final price on it.

    Wonton ramen soup.
    Rob D.

I usually get sushi here, and as you know if you've read my previous review, they make it well. I decided to try the wonton ramen soup for a change of pace on a rainy day. It was delicious. The wontons are made fresh. They were not mushy at all. Both the wontons and the ramen noodles were high quality, and the broth was delicious. I received friendly service from the owners, who hadn't seen me in a while. The ambience is actually quite nice, despite being located in an unfortunately downtrodden neighborhood. Recommended.

    Salmon and tuna sashimi

Came here for lunch I. The middle of the week. Place could use a little TLC but great service. Portions are bigger than most Japanese spots. An order of sashimi gets here about eight pieces which honestly filled me up before my entrée even came. Tuna slices, nice thick, hearty cuts. Salmon wasn't anything too special. Went with some basic bento boxes, which were just the right amount of food. Overall pleased with this place good service and it is a little on the rundown side, but I will stop by here again.

    Beef Teriyaki Entree
    Dean H.

I love Japanese food so I decided to try this place since it was highly recommended by my co-worker and its close proximity for lunch. The ambiance was very nicely done. Reminded me of the Japanese restaurants in SF Japan Town. I ordered the teriyaki beef entree which was a good portion and beef was actual steak cut up versus the thin sliced beef like some other Japanese places. Get the Miso soup, trust me. The service was prompt and attentive. Looks like I found another go to lunch places!

Great service Super quiet…read more Enjoyed my time Lucky 7 California Cherry blossom Philly The sushi roll is loaded (in a good way). You've got what looks like tempura shrimp, avocado, cucumber, and spicy mayo + eel sauce. That combo usually hits--crispy, creamy, and a little sweet. * The hand roll (salmon + avocado + cream cheese) looks fresh. The salmon color is vibrant, which is a good sign. * Clean presentation overall--simple plate, nothing messy except the intentional sauce drizzle. What could be better: * The sauce is a little heavy. The drizzle looks tasty, but it might overpower the actual flavor of the fish. * Rice on the hand roll looks slightly loose--could fall apart when eating. * Ginger portion looks a bit chunky/dry instead of thin and delicate. Taste g * Roll: rich, crunchy, slightly sweet and spicy--probably the star. * Hand roll: fresh but heavier because of the cream cheese.but it was delicious I'm coming back Overall rating: 7.5-8/10 Tasty and satisfying, but slightly overloaded with sauce and richness.

The other two couples got their food and I was waiting over 30 mins for 2 orders of nigiri and a fried roll. Next time I will just wait the half hour until the other place opens. Will NOT return! Had to ask for ginger, wasabi and water since the waitress never checked on me. The saba did not taste fresh and the nigiri fell apart. I hoped the fly that joined me for lunch today enjoyed the left over rice I left. I burnt extra calories at lunch today by shooing it away. Yes... I tipped, but did NOT deserve it!

She is a key reason as to why we want to keep coming back; her attitude and enthusiasm is fantastic. Me and my family enjoyed our dinner and loved every dish we ordered. Their wonton soup is an excellent choice for a starter and can be shared up to at least 3 people. The wontons are fresh and tasty, the mushrooms are chunky and complement well with the bakchoy. There's even thinly sliced red pork which adds some taste and texture to the soup. We thoroughly enjoyed their spicy Mongolian chow fun. This had some sweetness to it but also some heat which was just right. The beef was super tender! It melts in your mouth. My wife ordered the Sun Kitchen sushi special which was delicious and had big pieces. The quality of sushi here is great! My son enjoyed his bento box which consisted of teriyaki grilled chicken, salad with creamy sesame dressing and then large pieces of vegetable tempura. This is an excellent deal with a good amount of choices to choose from. Jeanette and Tony frequently stopped by to check on us and made sure our meals were good and our drinks were refilled. They are so accommodating and inviting. The music they were playing in the background was on point! They were playing smooth R&B in which me and my wife were dancing. It's spacious inside the restaurant and can hold a good amount of guests. I will say, I wish the temperature was cooler inside; it was a bit warm but didn't really bother us. We can't wait to come back! We love this place!

I left disappointed, and honestly, it's not the first time the service has let the food down. On past visits: We stood at the host stand for an extended period while a stressed waiter cleaned empty tables instead of acknowledging us. I requested a protein substitution for their Japanese curry and was told no. Then weeks later, that exact substitution appeared on their updated menu. Last night was the real problem. My meal arrived without rice because they'd run out and said it would take 30 minutes to cook more. You can't run out of rice at a Japanese restaurant. That's not a minor slip. It's a fundamental operational failure. Bluefin has genuine quality and consistency in the kitchen. But the experience around it keeps deteriorating. The restaurant feels disorganized, stretched thin, and unable to keep up with demand. You can't build loyalty on food alone when service and operations keep breaking the promise you're making to guests. If they fix the operational side, this place would be a solid recommendation. Right now, it's not.

How it works: apps, desserts, and drinks you order with your server. Specialty rolls and sashimi you order at the sushi counter. For sashimi platters you specify what kind of fish and what size (this designates approx how many pieces you get, instead of you specifying like "i want 5 pieces of tuna"). You can also go up to the counter and grab plates or premade rolls or nigiri that are on the conveyor belt! Servers will clear the plates as you eat!
