I ordered 4 rolls asking for all of the rolls to come with 1 Unagi sauce each. There is nothing worse than ordering rolls and they give you one sauce for multiple people to share. We got here on a Monday night right at 4:30pm. Five stars for the sushi and the service. First time going to this restaurant. It won't be the last. It was crowded at lunch on a Friday and it's quite noisy inside. Too warm to sit outside but they do have a nice patio area. Highly recommend! read more

I was in the area for a hair appointment and ordered pick up that my cohort picked up. Between what we ordered: SF roll, rainbow roll and Saba nigari, the SF roll was the star. The rainbow roll, I know is basically a california roll with fish on top, but all I could taste was california roll instead of the fish on top. Granted the california roll was sizeable, I would opt for a california roll and order a escolar nigari, white fish in the rainbow roll. The SF was tasty, and the spicy tuna plus sauce had a nice kick. For the price of two rolls, one order of nigari and edamame, it was a little pricey but worth the pick up. read more

Food is usually good, but if it is busy at all, they are incredibly slow and inattentive. The server rarely checked on us. on another occasion, after spending thousands of dollars here, the owner would not fix one dish in which they forgot to include shrimp, blaming DoorDash. My family and I have been regular customers at Chelsea's for years--typically visiting at least once a month. We've always enjoyed the sushi, which has consistently been great, but the service has usually been just "okay." Unfortunately, our most recent visit (11/22/25) was deeply disappointing and felt disrespectful. We arrived around 6:30 PM and were barely acknowledged by the staff, including the manager. I let them know I needed a table for four and waited patiently, understanding that there were no open tables at the moment. About 20-25 minutes later, staff began cleaning a table, and one employee even gestured that it would be ours. Before we were seated, a family of six walked in and immediately took that same table. The manager then informed me that the table was actually reserved, despite the earlier gesture indicating it was mine. There was absolutely no communication beforehand to clarify that the table was being prepped for a reservation. The only reason he even spoke up was because I questioned it when I saw the other family sit down. When I asked why this wasn't communicated sooner, the manager simply said, "We're busy. You should've made a reservation." The dismissive tone and lack of professionalism were extremely disappointing--especially considering how often we've supported this restaurant and how much money we've spent here over the years. It genuinely breaks my heart, because we've always enjoyed the food. But the unprofessional and rude behavior from management tonight was unacceptable. Great sushi isn't enough to make up for consistently poor service and disrespectful treatment. Sadly, we won't be returning. read more

There's something here for everyone at Chelsea! My friend is more of a sushi purist, while I am partial to the fancy rolls with multiple sauces. We were easily able to find something that suited both our tastes. I ordered one of the house specials, the Sandi roll. It came with a plentiful amount of fried onions. I envisioned a sprinkling of shoestring onions atop the roll, but these were thicker and piled high! I'm not complaining though, I love me some fried onions! My friend got the coco roll and said she liked it and would order it again. I had a piece and thought it was good, but I needed some more of a textural aspect to it. So I'll be completely honest here...I did like their sushi, more than many other local places. However, it still wasn't as good as my favorite spot, but it was quite good. I try to visit local spots first because frankly, we need them out here. The tempura appetizer was good, but looked suspiciously like other prawns you might find in the frozen section. The tempura veggies were good and tasted fresh though. Pros: 1. Service was great. 2. Food was fresh and tasty. 3. Presentation was good. 4. Tables were relatively clean for outside. 4. The place was almost full for a Wednesday night, which is a good sign. Cons: 1. It did smell like fish immediately when we walked inside. That is usually a bad sign, but we are outside. 2. It was a little chilly outside even thought the nights are just starting to get cooler. An outdoor heater might be good as it gets colder. Loved that they had outdoor seating. The absolute worst service of any restaurant I've ever been to. My grandson and I were ignored by all the staff except the busser who brought us water. I asked a young female server if she knew who our server was, she said she can take our order. Mind you we were already sitting there 25 minutes. After 30 minutes I caught the attention of the owner and asked if he could check on our order. He came back asking what we wanted because the girl never put our order in. Other tables who came in way after we did were served before us. I will never go back there again and I recommend you do not as well because you will experience terrible service. This was a great sushi find. I started with the Fire Stone, which had spicy tuna and cucumber on the inside and seared albacore on top. I was just about full with that roll but needed something else, so I decided on the 6 pc Negi Hama rolls, which while much smaller than the first roll, it did exactly as intended with its chopped yellowtail and green onion. The service was impeccable! I sat at the bar top and was checked on by three different employees, all of whom were super friendly and attentive. Salt & Pepper Chicken Wings - wish it was more flavorful, but perhaps they did this to generally match the other food on the menu? various nigiri (uni, unagi, albacore belly) - We loved the uni! It was extremely fresh, had good texture, and tasted like it just came from the ocean. We liked it better than this place we went to at the Santa Barbara wharf that served fresh uni still in the shelll! Rainbow Roll - This is one of my SO's go-tos at sushi places when he can't decide between sashimi and rolls. Tasted fresh, but we found the fish slices to be on thinner side, which was expected given the price point. Lion King Roll - Very tasty, but the rice fell apart just a tad too easily. Finally got to try Chelsea and was pleasantly surprised by how good it was. The ambiance is cute inside and the staff was attentive. It is a small space so be prepared to wait if you go on a weekend. I ordered gyoza, avocado roll, tobiko and for entrees we got beef teriyaki and chicken teriyaki. Everything came out so fast and it was so good. The portion of the chicken was a lot two people could share and the beef was a small steak but was tender and juicy. I will def be coming back to try their ramen. read more

I took a look at the menu to see what they had. Sooooo many sushi choices but I was looking for something hot because it was a very cold night. I will need to come back for sushi...some of them sounded great! I got my meal (salmon teriyaki) to go. I was kind of surprised at how small the meal was considering that it was $26.
