Great place for food in Brentwood! I kept hearing about this business so I was glad when a work lunch was planned here. Our table ordered: a garlic edamame, spicy edamame, gyoza, shrimp tempura, a few Yakisobas, ribeye steak, bone in pork chop, and various raw sushi rolls. All the food was great tasting and fresh. Where I had to take stars away was for the wait time and service. I understand we had a large party so auto gratuity is included; however I felt like since the server knew this her service was not up to par. Our group consisted of 8 people. We arrived 5 to 10 minutes before opening and were second to be seated. About 6 to 7 other separate groups arrived after yet they all got their orders taken before us. The people in our group that didn't order sushi received their food long before the people who ordered sushi. By the time our sushi came, the others in the party were close to finishing their lunch, some even had their leftovers packed up...which we had to grab ourselves since server never checked on us. Horrible - Do not come here. The kid at the front "host" is rude and will lie to your face and say tables are reserved for reservations. Only to seat his friends as they come in. Of the entire night only two couples (high school age) same as the host had reservations and were seated immediately. No check-in on the iPad no confirming the name. Just walk in greet with smiles and handshakes and straight to a table. However, I was told to make a reservation it has to be made the day of and before 4pm. Find this hard to believe so I asked 3 different servers how to make reservations and they started, "unsure" "idk if we do reservations" "I'll have to ask" were the answers I got. Could be me but sounds like the host kid is lying. Service started off strong. We sat and within 5 minutes the server came by to take our drink order at which time we also placed our food order. I especially enjoy the sauce and always ask for "extra" sauce. We also ordered the garlic edamame, which was seasoned well. You can place a little of that sauce on some rice, and it would be "perfect!: The garlic noodle is always a great choice. There's a slight sweetness that's hard to articulate, but it definitely adds a layer of flavor! Our last order was the Tiger Roll - the portions of the slices were perfect. We loved the sauce, and the shrimp was cooked just the way we liked. The service was also great (we've always had good service), but on this visit, Catie was the one who helped us. Our party of three absolutely loved this great find tucked away near the country club in Brentwood. The ambiance had modern moody vibes, very tastefully decorated with dark wood accents and classicly dim lightling throughout. The interior was quite spacious. Several couples were at the large and very active bar area near the entrance. Misaka is our go to spot for sushi! This was our first time trying the salt and pepper wings and they were super crispy and the duping sauce was the perfect pairing of citrus zestyness! We got the Ocean, Misaka, Hurricane and California Sunrise rolls. They were all super tasty. We loved the Ocean roll the seared tuna was a great addition! We love spicy tuna as you can tell by the rolls we ordered. Next time we will get a better variety, when reading the rolls it seamed as they were different but then they came out they were all very similar. I've read some reviews the chef has changed and based on my recent visit, that may be the case. I've ordered the beef chow fun a couple times before and thought it was a solid choice. To note: they don't put any bean sprouts in their chow fun (usual for this dish) which is fine with me since I'm not a fan. This time, I think they dumped a ton of MSG in it. Very umami at first, I was extremely thirsty and lethargic the rest of the day. One coworker ordered the lemongrass chicken and the other, the chicken fried rice. Second time trying this place. Staff has always been friendly and pretty attentive. There's ample amount of seating, but their tables do get full. Calamari (5/5)- I LOVEEE their Calamari. I also lovee that it comes with bell peppers and onions. Personally, i think their portion is a little small, but it's so good. Definitely worth trying! Heartburn (5/5)- These are deep fried jalapeno poppers! I'm a sucker for jalapeno poppers. They're stuffed with imitation crab and cream cheese. So flavorful, i lovee it ! My friends and i ordered three rolls to share: Yakuza, Lion King, and Marilyn Mon Roll. My favorite was the Yakuza; it reminds me of a standard Dragon Roll. He seemed grouchy and uninterested in being there. His fingernails were dirty which is disgusting. Apparently he went on break but didn't even tell us. Sushi.. in Brentwood. Such an oddity in a location, but when you have local friends who just came back from Japan recently tell you that this place is good.. you just have to have some faith. Generous portions, fresh food, and some wasabi that I couldn't quite narrow down. It wasn't the cheap powdered wasabi stuff.. but perhaps a mix of that and something fresh.. as it had some chunks of ground wasabi or horseradish, whatever it might be. Extremely Disappointing Experience with Bartender I had a very unpleasant experience at this sushi restaurant that left me feeling both embarrassed and disrespected. Tonight my partner and I sat down at the bar, we didn't realize someone else had briefly stepped away from their seat (even after confirming with the patrons sitting in the area). After sitting for about four minutes, the bartender approached us in an extremely rude manner instead of simply letting us know the seat was taken. We immediately apologized and got up to move. At that moment, the gentleman next to us kindly offered his seat, so we scooted over to make room. Instead of handling the situation professionally, the bartender made another rude comment, telling us not to "overcrowd the bar." Her tone was unnecessarily harsh and dismissive. The entire exchange was belittling and humiliating. I couldn't help but feel that my skin color may have played a role in how I was treated, which made the experience even more disheartening. As a paying customer, I expect to be treated with basic respect and courtesy, and this was far from that.
