Horrible - Do not come here. The kid at the front "host" is rude and will lie to your face and say tables are reserved for reservations. Only to seat his friends as they come in. Of the entire night only two couples (high school age) same as the host had reservations and were seated immediately. No check-in on the iPad no confirming the name. Just walk in greet with smiles and handshakes and straight to a table. However, I was told to make a reservation it has to be made the day of and before 4pm. Find this hard to believe so I asked 3 different servers how to make reservations and they started, "unsure" "idk if we do reservations" "I'll have to ask" were the answers I got. Could be me but sounds like the host kid is lying. Service started off strong. We sat and within 5 minutes the server came by to take our drink order at which time we also placed our food order. Drinks took 10mins, food took over an hour. We placed drink and food at 4:44 and food came out and hit our table at 5:51 Anyway I'll never be back and this was my 3rd time here. Misaka is one of our "go-to" restaurants in the area. I ordered the Donburi Chicken Bowl, which was incredibly amazing. The chicken was tender, well seasoned, and their portion was more than filling. I especially enjoy the sauce and always ask for "extra" sauce. We also ordered the garlic edamame, which was seasoned well. You can place a little of that sauce on some rice, and it would be "perfect!: The garlic noodle is always a great choice. There's a slight sweetness that's hard to articulate, but it definitely adds a layer of flavor! Our last order was the Tiger Roll - the portions of the slices were perfect. We loved the sauce, and the shrimp was cooked just the way we liked. The service was also great (we've always had good service), but on this visit, Catie was the one who helped us. She was prompt, had a friendly smile, and consistently checked on us. Great job, Catie! There's private parking and plenty of seating. (Though it can get busy during peak hours or weekends). There's a bar (we've never sat in the bar area), and for the most part, the hostesses were friendly. On a Friday night, this place has such a fun, lively environment. Our party of three absolutely loved this great find tucked away near the country club in Brentwood. The ambiance had modern moody vibes, very tastefully decorated with dark wood accents and classicly dim lightling throughout. The interior was quite spacious. It was not busy on a Saturday afternoon and easily accommodated a few large groups as well as several smaller ones. Service was friendly and very attentive. Several couples were at the large and very active bar area near the entrance. All the tables had a great view of the kitchen where multiple chefs worked on freshly displayed sushi and other specialty dishes. The Spicy Hangover - deep fried spicy tuna stuffed avocado... YES PLEASE! This was a surprising treat with the creamy avocado, crunchy batter and umami flavor! Black Garlic Tonkatsu - rich and creamy broth with pork belly, chicken, marinate egg and veggies. Misaka is our go to spot for sushi! This was our first time trying the salt and pepper wings and they were super crispy and the duping sauce was the perfect pairing of citrus zestyness! We got the Ocean, Misaka, Hurricane and California Sunrise rolls. They were all super tasty. We loved the Ocean roll the seared tuna was a great addition! We love spicy tuna as you can tell by the rolls we ordered. Next time we will get a better variety, when reading the rolls it seamed as they were different but then they came out they were all very similar. Still very delicious but would have been nice to have a variety of flavors. None the less everything was amazing as always!! My husband and I were on the fence where to go for sushi when we were in the area but decided on this place. We were sat right away, service was friendly, restaurant was clean and the sushi we ordered was fresh. Our only complaint was We were disappointed because they didn't have any toro or uni and that's why we went out to sushi. They did have fresh oysters so that was a plus. However, With all the other sushi options in the surrounding area I can't say we would choose to come back to this spot. Nothing wrong with it, just not what we're accustomed to. Hungry Roll: 9/10 it's a spicy roll, so if you're not into spice (hot Cheeto spicy) then I would not get this, but if not, this is the roll for you. The fish on top is seared, so it was perfect for my husband to try some. Gyoza: 7/10 super basic, nothing to rave about. The price is super up high for something that taste like I could buy from Costco. But we still ordered them - LOL! Overall: 8/10 The food was GREAT, the service was on top of things, the only thing I'm going to nag about it probably the bathroom. It definitely needs to be remodeled and cleaned up correctly. I've read some reviews the chef has changed and based on my recent visit, that may be the case. I've ordered the beef chow fun a couple times before and thought it was a solid choice. To note: they don't put any bean sprouts in their chow fun (usual for this dish) which is fine with me since I'm not a fan. This time, I think they dumped a ton of MSG in it. Very umami at first, I was extremely thirsty and lethargic the rest of the day. One coworker ordered the lemongrass chicken and the other, the chicken fried rice. We actually return to Misaka for the lemongrass chicken because she enjoys it so much. The two items arrived and they no joke looked (and tasted) almost identical. I wish I took a pic. I also lovee that it comes with bell peppers and onions. Personally, i think their portion is a little small, but it's so good. Definitely worth trying! Heard from friends the service went down but didn't believe them and went on Mother's Day. The young male waiter (white dude w hair tied back) did not introduce himself. He seemed grouchy and uninterested in being there. His fingernails were dirty which is disgusting. Apparently he went on break but didn't even tell us. Other staff were better but another member dropping off sides did not say excuse me/pardon my reach when touching my chin as they reached across the table. When she returned at 8:30, she said it would be just five more minutes. By 8:35, we still had no food, so I asked another server if we could speak to the manager. This was the second time requesting a manager, but none had come by since she was on break. Finally, at 8:45, our food arrived. We had already finished eating, and my husband lost his appetite. The server's attitude was not friendly or apologetic, and she didn't acknowledge her mistake. We asked for a to-go box in frustration. Great sushi place in Brentwood! Arrived at about 7pm and waited about 30-35 mins. Ordered the Brentwood's finest, salmon skin roll, Misaka roll and sashimi. I liked the friend onion rings that came with the Brentwood special. The salmon skin roll had a good crunch to it. All the food we ordered was delicious. Sashimi was fresh. Decent price for sushi. How it's absolutely inexpensive it is right now to take a vacation there.. It was just only the beginning of the overall experience you can get here. My table ordered several rolls, food, and appetizers... and as it came out one by one, they were consumed promptly and with utmost enjoyment. Generous portions, fresh food, and some wasabi that I couldn't quite narrow down. It wasn't the cheap powdered wasabi stuff.. but perhaps a mix of that and something fresh.. as it had some chunks of ground wasabi or horseradish, whatever it might be. Was slightly disappointed on the nigiri assembly, expecting at least a little bit of wasabi between the rice and the fish.. but perhaps due to it being Brentwood after all... they perhaps have to cater to the general palate of the population there... so I'm gonna let it pass. Extremely Disappointing Experience with Bartender I had a very unpleasant experience at this sushi restaurant that left me feeling both embarrassed and disrespected. Tonight my partner and I sat down at the bar, we didn't realize someone else had briefly stepped away from their seat (even after confirming with the patrons sitting in the area). After sitting for about four minutes, the bartender approached us in an extremely rude manner instead of simply letting us know the seat was taken. We immediately apologized and got up to move. At that moment, the gentleman next to us kindly offered his seat, so we scooted over to make room. Instead of handling the situation professionally, the bartender made another rude comment, telling us not to "overcrowd the bar." Her tone was unnecessarily harsh and dismissive. The entire exchange was belittling and humiliating. I couldn't help but feel that my skin color may have played a role in how I was treated, which made the experience even more disheartening. As a paying customer, I expect to be treated with basic respect and courtesy, and this was far from that.
