We started with the gyoza for the appetizer which had a great flavor balance with super crispy edges. For drinks, I tried the spicy jalapeños margarita, which was really good, it had the Perfect heat level for me. On to the sushi. Started with the sake (salmon) sashimi. Its quality was a really good sign that the sushi was going to be great. Luckily, I was with a large group, so I sampled four of their rolls. As always, I ordered the Dragon Roll. It was made perfectly, although I would have preferred larger pieces of unagi on top. The Brentwood's Finest Roll is a must-try--it has spicy tuna, crab, tempura, and deep-fried onions on the side. Easily a 10/10! The Lion King and California Sunrise rolls are also great options. Great place for food in Brentwood! I kept hearing about this business so I was glad when a work lunch was planned here. Our table ordered: a garlic edamame, spicy edamame, gyoza, shrimp tempura, a few Yakisobas, ribeye steak, bone in pork chop, and various raw sushi rolls. All the food was great tasting and fresh. Where I had to take stars away was for the wait time and service. I understand we had a large party so auto gratuity is included; however I felt like since the server knew this her service was not up to par. Our group consisted of 8 people. We arrived 5 to 10 minutes before opening and were second to be seated. About 6 to 7 other separate groups arrived after yet they all got their orders taken before us. The people in our group that didn't order sushi received their food long before the people who ordered sushi. By the time our sushi came, the others in the party were close to finishing their lunch, some even had their leftovers packed up...which we had to grab ourselves since server never checked on us. Misaka is one of our "go-to" restaurants in the area. I ordered the Donburi Chicken Bowl, which was incredibly amazing. The chicken was tender, well seasoned, and their portion was more than filling. I especially enjoy the sauce and always ask for "extra" sauce. We also ordered the garlic edamame, which was seasoned well. You can place a little of that sauce on some rice, and it would be "perfect!: The garlic noodle is always a great choice. There's a slight sweetness that's hard to articulate, but it definitely adds a layer of flavor! Our last order was the Tiger Roll - the portions of the slices were perfect. We loved the sauce, and the shrimp was cooked just the way we liked. The service was also great (we've always had good service), but on this visit, Catie was the one who helped us. She was prompt, had a friendly smile, and consistently checked on us. Great job, Catie! There's private parking and plenty of seating. (Though it can get busy during peak hours or weekends). There's a bar (we've never sat in the bar area), and for the most part, the hostesses were friendly. Our party of three absolutely loved this great find tucked away near the country club in Brentwood. Several couples were at the large and very active bar area near the entrance. All the tables had a great view of the kitchen where multiple chefs worked on freshly displayed sushi and other specialty dishes. The Spicy Hangover - deep fried spicy tuna stuffed avocado... We came in 9/12/26 and sat down at the bar, ordered food at 7:12pm with Harrison. Our food was not ready or close to being ready at 8pm. We asked the bartender (Harrison) if anything went wrong since the people around us all got their food and even checks with to-go boxes even though they were seated AFTER us. He went to go check NEVER came back so after another 10 minutes we got the attention of another server who was amazing and very apologetic who gave us our check and we decided to go to another sushi place instead (Neko Sushi 10/10 recommend). Harrison NEVER apologized for the delay or even pretended to care. My husband and I were on the fence where to go for sushi when we were in the area but decided on this place. We were sat right away, service was friendly, restaurant was clean and the sushi we ordered was fresh. Our only complaint was We were disappointed because they didn't have any toro or uni and that's why we went out to sushi. They did have fresh oysters so that was a plus. However, With all the other sushi options in the surrounding area I can't say we would choose to come back to this spot. Nothing wrong with it, just not what we're accustomed to. 1st timers and the food was really great. We originally came for the restaurant next door, but they were closed, so we decided to just go for sushi. This location is super big, loud and family friendly. I can say that their bar area is popular because I've never seen people crowded around a sushi bar. Service was great, a little busy when we got there, but our server did a great job checking in with us. Super White Tuna Nigiri: 10/10 super fatty and melted like butter. Honestly, I'd order like 10 of these for myself and everyone else can order their own. A fan of it for sure. Dragon & Spider Roll: 9/10 like how can you go wrong with these rolls. It's literally a favorite with most people and everywhere we have ate them all taste great. Hungry Roll: 9/10 it's a spicy roll, so if you're not into spice (hot Cheeto spicy) then I would not get this, but if not, this is the roll for you. The fish on top is seared, so it was perfect for my husband to try some. Gyoza: 7/10 super basic, nothing to rave about. The price is super up high for something that taste like I could buy from Costco. But we still ordered them - LOL! Overall: 8/10 The food was GREAT, the service was on top of things, the only thing I'm going to nag about it probably the bathroom. It definitely needs to be remodeled and cleaned up correctly. I've read some reviews the chef has changed and based on my recent visit, that may be the case. I've ordered the beef chow fun a couple times before and thought it was a solid choice. To note: they don't put any bean sprouts in their chow fun (usual for this dish) which is fine with me since I'm not a fan. This time, I think they dumped a ton of MSG in it. Very umami at first, I was extremely thirsty and lethargic the rest of the day. One coworker ordered the lemongrass chicken and the other, the chicken fried rice. We actually return to Misaka for the lemongrass chicken because she enjoys it so much. The two items arrived and they no joke looked (and tasted) almost identical. I wish I took a pic. She questioned whether it was the lemongrass chicken and it was confirmed. The chicken fried rice was the oddest we've ever seen. It had sliced chicken on top of the rice. Heartburn (5/5)- These are deep fried jalapeno poppers! I'm a sucker for jalapeno poppers. They're stuffed with imitation crab and cream cheese. So flavorful, i lovee it ! My friends and i ordered three rolls to share: Yakuza, Lion King, and Marilyn Mon Roll. My favorite was the Yakuza; it reminds me of a standard Dragon Roll. Lion King was also good, but i can only eat like 2 pieces and i get tired of the taste. Usually Lion Kings take longer to make since they're baked, but it actually came out pretty fast. Horrible - Do not come here. The kid at the front "host" is rude and will lie to your face and say tables are reserved for reservations. Only to seat his friends as they come in. Of the entire night only two couples (high school age) same as the host had reservations and were seated immediately. No check-in on the iPad no confirming the name. Just walk in greet with smiles and handshakes and straight to a table. However, I was told to make a reservation it has to be made the day of and before 4pm. Find this hard to believe so I asked 3 different servers how to make reservations and they started, "unsure" "idk if we do reservations" "I'll have to ask" were the answers I got. Could be me but sounds like the host kid is lying. Service started off strong. We sat and within 5 minutes the server came by to take our drink order at which time we also placed our food order. Drinks took 10mins, food took over an hour. We placed drink and food at 4:44 and food came out and hit our table at 5:51 Anyway I'll never be back and this was my 3rd time here. Unagidon - This dish was surprisingly great, honestly. The taste was spot on and the flavor was really good. I was pretty impressed with the quality. However, I did notice a few small bones in the eel. It was a minor issue in an otherwise delicious meal. Pork bun - Seriously, these buns are out of this world! Tried this sushi spot for the first time yesterday. The vibe is cool and the prices are fair -- not cheap, not expensive -- and the food was decent, but nothing that really stood out. What really brought the experience down was the service. There were plenty of servers walking around, yet we barely got checked on. Generous portions, fresh food, and some wasabi that I couldn't quite narrow down. It wasn't the cheap powdered wasabi stuff.. but perhaps a mix of that and something fresh.. as it had some chunks of ground wasabi or horseradish, whatever it might be. Was slightly disappointed on the nigiri assembly, expecting at least a little bit of wasabi between the rice and the fish.. but perhaps due to it being Brentwood after all... they perhaps have to cater to the general palate of the population there... so I'm gonna let it pass.
