I came with my parents for Kadhai's lunch buffet and it was perfect. The service was great and I enjoyed their artwork and ambiance. I really loved their buffet as it had so many options! I got to try all the things I was curious about but wouldn't order a full serving of. Also, having bottomless Naan is such a bonus. I prefer Naan over rice with Indian food, so I was in heaven! The Chicken Vindaloo was perfectly seasoned and very flavorful. The spice level of the Vindaloo curry was just to my liking. I didn't think the Dal Makhani was spicy enough, but that is expected at a buffet. The Baba Ghanoush was fresh and worked as a palate cleanser. I tried Saag Paneer (cheese cooked in creamy spinach sauce) for the first time and I really liked it! I then filled up on my favorites: Chicken Vindaloo and Naan. I tried one bite of 3 different deserts after that, and they were all unique and pretty sweet. I think the Rice Pudding was my favorite flavor but the Vanilla Rice Pudding was my favorite texture. We lived nearby 2020-2023 and ordered takeout at least once a week. We moved away and to this day, we haven't been able to find a spot that remotely compares. We just stopped by for the annual Father's Day buffet and we were mind blown - and so upset we didn't know about their amazing buffet! My wife and I have been eating here for probably 10 years. During that time, I've never had a bad meal here and neither has my wife, nor any of my family or friends that we've cajoled into joining us. I was recently talking with my wife about it--it's just so rare to have that kind of consistently good experience from a restaurant. And to think we found this place entirely by accident. It's a small restaurant, very out-of-the-way, mostly quiet and unassuming. I don't think I've ever seen the place packed to the gills--more of a constant flow and vibrant "hum" than an overly busy "around the corner" line. really a 3.5 but there are no half stars allowed on this app! i came in by myself to try this place out for lunch. it's only buffet-style at lunchtime, and the dining area is not super spacious. the place was pretty empty when i came in, so i was seated immediately. i tried a little of many dishes. the fried appetizers (aloo tikki and pakora) were the best. i really liked the sweet chutney. for the main dishes, i tried the navratan korma, dal makhani, saag paneer, and broccoli bhaji. the saag paneer was my favorite of the four; the paneer was crumbled into tinier chunks instead of the large cubes typical of the dish, which i surprisingly liked a lot. the navratan korma was slightly sweet, and tasted fine. dal makhani was good too, and the broccoli bhaji was tasty enough but tasted more like manchurian than any sabzi. the naan was flavorful and soft as well, although the rice didn't feel fully cooked. the price for the buffet after tax was $20, which is sort of pricey but now sadly par for the course in the triangle area. i'm glad i stopped by here once and tried it out! if i worked nearby id probably stop by for a weekday lunch buffet once in a while, since service is super quick and the food is tasty enough and filling, but it wasn't a memorable enough experience to go out of my way to go back or get takeout from here. read more

This is my absolute favorite spot to visit whenever I'm in Raleigh. The chicken tikka masala is outstanding - creamy, perfectly spiced, and deeply flavorful. Their garlic naan is soft and buttery. I went here with some coworkers for lunch and was thoroughly impressed. The bigger is very basic with few options but the food is delicious! I was hooked on a yellow curry chicken dish with basmati rice. The food was so flavorful. The naan bread was soft and fluffy. I also grabbed some banana pudding because I'm addicted. The banana pudding was a little on the runny side however it was delicious. It is a pretty small space, I wouldn't recommend them for larger parties but it was extremely comfortable here. The owner of this place and his wife are two of the most beautiful human beings in this world! They make delicious food, undoubtedly! Everyone knows it in the RTP area! Back in 2014, when me and my wife were on a roller coaster before our Ph.D. defense, we stopped cooking at home and started having our meals from this restaurant only! The owner somehow learned this and started preparing his own meals for us for free! Bimol Da (owner) literally came on earth to us like an angel during that time! When you eat in one restaurant more, you build relationships and trust! Me and my wife would be forever grateful to these two people! Kadhai is a excellent Indian restaurant in my neighborhood. As someone who was raised by west indian grandparents, I enjoy my food spicy. I love that you can choose how spicy you want your dishes by intensity number. I went with a 4. That was the perfect amount of heat for me. The food here is flavorful and plated with perfection. I ordered lunch via Uber Eats. The food arrived fast and piping hot. The serving size was generous with plenty of leftovers to enjoy tomorrow. I ordered vegetables samosas, Chicken Madras and Aloo Gobi. The Chicken Madras was my favorite. It really packed the heat ! Lots of fresh spices and pepper throughout the stew. This was delicious. The naan was complimentary with my order. They left it in the oven too long unfortunately and it was not the best charred. I live in Charleston and I've tried all the Indian spots here and none of them fit the bill. They seem to tone down the flavors. So whenever I visit one of my 4 children in other cities, first thing we do is find a good Indian restaurant. We accidentally bumped into Kadhai, hidden at the back end of a strip mall that had seen better days. Please don't let this keep you away. Delicious, authentic and the nicest staff. Everyone came out to say hello. And we had so much food, we were lucky enough to have a few lunches for work, after returning to Charleston. Also ordered the lamb vindaloo, the portion of lamb was cut in half and very fatty and tough, they added potatoes to the stew which is a new thing to replace the lack of meat. The basmati rice was not basmati rice, thinking it was plain white rice. I am a Caucasian and do know the difference in rice. I ordered the Murgh Biryani - Chicken and instantly felt disappointed with how it looked. Rice is far from being Basmati rice. There is no aroma of the Basmati rice at all and the texture is all wrong. Biryani tastes really sweet which is a HUGE no-no! Chicken was undercooked and chewy. A solid One Star dish! read more

Generous portions of rice for take out. Cons: I've had a lot of Indian food before and their chicken tikka masala and malai kofta curry were unusually sweet. My family and I even joked (like another reviewer here) that perhaps the chef had an off day and dumped too much sugar. The garlic naan also used garlic powder rather than actual garlic (what I've found at other places). I enjoyed the take out food I had here. The vegetable pakoras appetizer (fried veggie/chickpea flour bites) were excellent - I'd definitely order them again. So was the vegetable biryani. My only complaint for the latter was the addition of lamb at $5 gave us 3.5 bite sized pieces. I expected a bit more than that. The chicken 65 appetizer was much different than others I've had, and not in a bad way! The spicy fried chicken bits were intermingled with a cool spicy cabbage slaw. I found myself liking it, being an avid vegetable consumer, but if I was all about the chicken I may have felt there wasn't enough. The Kadhai bhindi entree (okra with onion, pepper, tomato and spices) was quite decent. That dish didn't stand out as much as the others. Really nice Indian buffet with a good variety of meat and vegetable dishes. We arrived just after 12pm and everything was freshly prepared. We even had room for some homemade deserts such as banana pudding and mango mousse. Good value for $18 per person and the staff were very nice. read more

I'm a bit torn on this place--we tried Kadhai for the first time a week ago, so here are some pros/cons from that experience. Pros: the host who took our takeout order was very polite; my partner liked his chicken kadhai (although the flavor was fairly straightforward and underwhelming); there was a good amount of chicken in his dish; the price was reasonable; they gave a lot of rice with the dishes; garlic naan was decent. Cons: my chicken tikka was really oddly sour and wayyyy too sweet (and not sweetened in an appetizing way, it tasted as if someone dumped a bunch of granulated sugar in the dish); our order was delayed for pickup upon arrival. I'm not sure if it was a case of "ordered the wrong thing" or a telltale sign of "this place ain't it." read more

After too many disappointments, I was hoping Kadhai would be a lauded restaurant that did not disappoint me. There were a few bumps along the road, but as a whole, I liked Kadhai. I walked in with my friend for dinner after the rush one night. We were not greeted for a good few minutes, and I legitimately wondered if they were closing early. Fortunately they weren't - a server finally glanced over at us and motioned us over to a table. I guess that works. Goat is one of my favorite proteins, so I didn't need to carefully peruse the menu to know that I wanted the goat curry for $16.00. When asked, I decided 8/10 on the spiciness level would be enough for me. Entrees are served with rice. Naan (Indian bread) is a sine non qua of any Indian meal, but is extra at dinner time. I ordered garlic naan for $2.99. Prior to the entrees arriving, we were served papad (wafer thin crackers) with a yogurt sauce. The papad was delicious, and I wish the server would've stopped at our table to refill the basket prior to our entrees arriving. The entrees arrived in a timely enough manner, and I noticed the oil separating in the curry, indicative of it being cooked at an improper temperature. Still, the goat curry was delicious, if not a tad on the mild side. I was delighted by the tenderness of the goat meat. Spicy food junkies should go for the full 10/10. Entrees are easily enough for two people with average appetites to share. Still, I decided to finish off the meal with a mango lassi for $3.50. I have no benchmark to compare this with, but I still felt underwhelmed by it. 4 stars - Kadhai is probably one of the better Indian restaurants in Raleigh. I enjoyed my meal here. Somewhat slack service combined with minor flaws in the food prevents Kadhai from reaching greatness. read more

About 5 months ago, Kadhai replaced Royal India Express at this location. Royal India Express was one of my faves so I was a bit bummed out but wanted to give Kadhai a chance. Inside it hasn't changed much from tables to walls. Pretty much the same decor but I'm relatively sure that there are different owners. The menu has expanded to include some Indochina dishes that reflect the regions that border those two countries. But of course, I always go to my tried and true, chicken tikka masala! Kadhai's version was good, very spicy but also a bit greasy. Portion sizes were decent, no complaints there. The garlic naans were very good, charred and buttery. Service was a bit hit or miss the night I was there. They seemed a bit overwhelmed or under-trained from what I could see. Overall Kadhai is a decent example of Indian food in the Triangle but let's face it, they had an uphill climb since they replaced my favorite. But definitely give the place a try, the food is decent and you could definitely do worse. Kadhai is located way in the back of Pleasant Valley Promenade so you'll have to search a bit to find it! A nice spot to get your curry on... Update: Stopped in for the lunch buffet which was decent. About 10 heated entrees, mostly vegetarian along with a meager salad/dessert buffet. Not bad, not great but fine since the naan was fresh and good! I've also had the chance to try the Royal India lunch buffet which is a step up from Kadhai but either is a fine choice. read more

We stumbled upon this place while playing Russian Roulette: Dinner Edition, one of our least favorite, more frustrating games in which you doomscroll through "delivery food near me" results on google until you get fed up and order the usual go-to crap. After about twenty minutes of brainstorming, I asked my other half, "What about Indian, wanna try it?" to which he replied, "I'm down, let's give it a shot." Hands down, best dinner decision in a long time. To say this food went beyond our expectations would be an understatement. My little guy's a generally picky eater so I ordered chicken nuggets as a backup (thats an amazing option btw thank you) - the kid LOVED it. Our second time here and the food is just as delicious as we remembered. The service is great. I got the same chicken dish as last time but lowered the spice level to 3. That was perfect. The service was fast and friendly. I couldn't finish and asked for a to go box, they brought it with extra rice! Nice surprise. My husband is the pickiest eater on the planet and he loves this place as they kindly accommodate all our quirks. I highly recommend for dinner. The butter chicken has way too much sugar in it, and pretty much just tastes like sweet onions. The tikka masala tastes like canned tomato sauce with a bit of seasoning. I have been here several times and have ordered take out every time so I can't speak to their service, but the food is delicious. Most recently, I ordered the lamb patiala along with their garlic naan and it was very flavorful with a good amount of tender pieces of lamb.
