Imperial Garden has long been my go-to place for Chinese food, but over my last few visits, I have noticed that the quality of the meat has gone down The restaurant layout is split into two rooms. The first room features booths and an elevated seating section, while the second room has tables for larger groups. The decor is simple and traditional. The service here is still very good. Although I haven't gotten my favorite waitress during my last few visits, she made a point to come over and talk to me this last time. She even remembered my exact order and that I like it prepared without onions, which I truly appreciated! Unfortunately, the beef itself seemed a little rubbery. A few of the pieces were completely fine, so I am not sure whether the meat was just overcooked or had sat under a heat lamp too long before being served. The fried rice seemed better than ever, though, as was the eggroll. I think I will need to start trying some new vegetarian or alternative dishes here on my next visits to avoid the meat, as I still really enjoy the local atmosphere and excellent service.

(She makes a good L.I.T) She had backup come in as we were gearing up to leave. It started to rain and she walked my mom to the car with an umbrella that is above and beyond service! It's one thing to do your job but that kind gesture made my entire experience that much more special. So to my servers, thank you once again!! We started with the pimento cheese balls, which were super cheesy and delicious. They also brought out biscuits and hush puppies, and those were perfect to start the meal. For the kids, we ordered a hot dog with fries, mac and cheese with fries, and a cheeseburger with fries. All of the kids loved their meals. The fries were really good (even I enjoyed them!), and the mac and cheese was definitely the favorite. The adults ordered a double combo with pulled pork and brisket, and it was big enough to easily split between two people. My husband and I both got the Pit bacon cheeseburger, and it was so good and huge. I ended up taking half home for later. My husband also got mac and cheese and shared it with the kids, while I ordered the Brussels sprouts, which were amazing. The staff was really friendly, and everything came out nicely. Overall, it was a great meal and a great experience, especially for our family !

You are able to make your own sauces at the sauce bar, which is another way to customize the flavors you get. I don't think you could go wrong here either... The restaurant started to get busier when we were finishing up, but the tables are spaced well so it never felt crowded. Our servers were quick and attentive, never letting my water go below half full!! I will definitely come back the next time I want Hot Pot!

Just a few minutes after we ordered, they brought out a big plastic bag with the boiled food inside. They also brought out bibs and disposable gloves, because eating this amazing seafood gets messy. I set that aside and tried to avoid the moisture on the napkin my silverware was wrapped in. When I went to get food, most of it was covered which I guess is good, but to get to the food, it was awkward balancing the covers or having to place them on another covered tray to be able to serve myself. When I compare the food and environment here to other places that offer Indian cuisine buffets, for the $20 with tax I'd rather go to Kabab and Curry not too far from here on Hillsborough St. There is more food available, it is fresher, the environment overall seems more hygienic and well-organized, and the food has better flavor and seems less greasy at Kabab and Curry. The only difference is having to pay for parking or parking a bit further away for a free spot--but for what you pay at Curry Club and they only offer buffet over the weekend, Kabab and Curry is better and offers more value and is where I will probably go from now on. The only way Curry Club's buffet would make sense is if they brought the price down. I'd put their food quality about on par with China Queen's weekday Chinese buffet, but China Queen has the better sense to charge less for the quality and experience they offer their customers. If you're already in the plaza and it's convenient to drop in over the weekend, give Curry Club a try, but if you can make it a little further north, Kabab and Curry is the better place. It is worth noting that Curry Club has interesting theme days and specials that may offer more value and culinary enjoyment than what I was able to experience while I was there including weekend breakfast combos, and weeknight dosa, biryani, and rice deals. They also have momos and spring rolls that look delicious (though I can't vouch yet). They stock authentic items like frozen Shahi Kulfi (not included in the buffet), and beverages like Delhi Darling, Thumsup, and Limca. If I go back, it'll be to sample dosas at Dosa Night or see what I think about the momos and spring rolls. I'll update when and if I find out and get to sample more.

Each time, I've over-ordered, I've over-eaten. And each time, I have had no regrets, the food here is authentic, delicious and I love all of the people working here. Tucked inside the Oriental Mart, Filipino Express Restaurant was my first true taste of Filipino cuisine and I just cannot get enough of it. It is the go-to place of many of my Filipino friends, who have introduced me to many popular and even some uncommon delights. My previous knowledge of Filipino food was fairly limited, mainly to the traditional items which of course, Filipino Express has. Their lechon kawali (fried pork), pancit (noodles) and lumpia (Filipino spring rolls) are must gets, with each item being super fresh and tasty. Despite my admiration for the classics, there are so many new things that I've tried here that are also fantastic that I just can never decide. I guess that is why we always over-order. My new love is sinigang, a tangy soup that is filled with pork. While the sour may throw you off, it is so comforting. The longganisa is a Filipino sausage that has a unique sweetness to it that is just undeniably great. And the kare kare is a unique take on pork, with the main sauce being made of peanuts. It is a rich dish, but a unique flavor that is good at balancing out the fried and savory flavors. Lastly, I first experienced a halo halo here and it may just be a top 5 dessert. It is so much fun to eat, and delicious too! I covered some of my favorites here, but this really just scratches the surface of all of the amazing things that Filipino Express offers. I am always excited to go back and try something new, maybe the next thing I should try to do is not leave in a food coma!
