I am enjoying how close this place is to the resort I'm staying out. Hubby and I came yesterday to try out the cold brew coffee and sat at the table out front to enjoy our drinks and people watch. The service was friendly and chipper! The barista broke down the crepe menu for me when I asked about their specials. It was fun watching them make the crepes right in front of you. My new favorite coffee place in Waikiki! I go to the original Kai Coffee in the Hyatt Regency Waikiki at least once a week so I was really excited to learn that they were opening a new location just down the street in the 'Alohilani Resort. They have the same great coffee, tea, and sandwiches as their old location, plus they have a crepe station. I recently tried the Nutella, banana, and strawberry crepe and loved it! Also worth noting is the great view at this location. It's located right on Waikiki beach so you can see the ocean right from your table. Can't wait to visit again! read more

They have delicious cold brew and a huge selection of specialty milks. Oat milk anyone? Yes, oat. It is delicious Macadamia nut milk? Almond milk? Soy milk? They have them all!! I love coffee and this place did not disappoint. The staff are very friendly. The atmosphere is very modern and comfortable. Oh and they have an ultra modern espresso machine. I had to look it up. 2015-2017 official barista championship espresso machine. There is just something about my espresso coming out of a $25,000 espresso machine. Mmmmm. Along the strip of Waikiki, towards the end where you can also walk towards the Honolulu Zoo you will find this coffee shop. I was recommended this place by a friend for their Kai coffee latte aka macadamia nut coffee. It's pretty good, strong, and rich tasting. This place does get busy no matter the day and they close pretty early -- so go early and queue up! Kai coffee opens early, closes early which makes sense in my book of coffee shops that grow, roast, and brew their own coffee in-house. You can also purchase a bag or two of the in-house coffee and syrups at the shop, as well as some merchandise. Kai coffee also offers some cafe foods such as breakfast sandwiches and crepes if you're craving something sweet or savory. I usually just go for the Kai latte but I'm sure their other coffees, espressos, foods are just as good. read more

This coffee was burnt. I ordered a small vanilla iced latte and my boyfriend ordered a large white mocha. They burnt our espresso beans that were in our latte. I could tell because I have worked at a coffee shop before and it's not that hard to tell what burnt espresso tastes like. My latte tasted mildly burnt and the milk was not filled up all the way at all, while his tasted completely burnt and was honestly disgusting. We debated whether or not we should ask them or remake it and decided to. When we asked them to, they said they said that it would taste the exact same since they made it "perfectly". That is not true. Basically they were trying to shoo us away and that they didn't have enough time to fix their drink that they did not make right the first time. They also offered a refund, but if we're going to drink coffee, wouldn't we want to enjoy it? Why would you want a refund when you want a coffee? The workers were very rude and we decided that we didn't even want them to remake the coffee due to the workers throwing a fit, so we just left. I understand it can be a little crazy working in a coffee shop, but throwing fits at customers because you didn't make a drink right isn't okay. I've been there, I've worked it, and if you don't make a coffee right, you just remake it. End of story. A friend of ours also got the iced matcha latte and they said it tasted more like milk than actual matcha. It is not just the espresso lattes that need work here. No thanks! read more

I was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked their signature latte which is the macadamia nut latte. I like my lattes sweet and creamy, and this was definitely it. I asked the barista how they make it because I wanted to see if it was something I could make at home. He said it's just a latte with their macadamia nut syrup. I also tried their crepes and breakfast sandwich, and they were just okay. The crepe tasted like it wasn't quite done yet, and I didn't eat the breakfast sandwich right away, so the bread became rock hard. This was my second experience with Kai Coffee. This time we visited 'post' COVID-19 (ish). I chose against pastries mostly because the pastries were all displayed without prices and that always invites overpricing. Oh well, we came for coffee anyways. I chose the pour over kona peaberry. My wife noted that it almost appeared as if the barista was trying to dissuade us from the pour over suggesting that it would take longer in a tone that suggested we might not have known that or that he didn't want to put in the extra effort. She might have read too much into it, but it was enough to make her comment to me. The pour over tasted fine; very rich in flavor and it didn't actually take too long. I also tried their chocolate chip cookie and loved that it had big chunks of chocolate in it. Service was excellent too! I would have loved to stay in the cafe because the interior was so charming and well-designed but I just had to enjoy my afternoon snack by the beach. Definitely was a memorable experience for me.
