Regular 2 Poke Bowl with spicy ahi and shoyu poke (Dec 2025)
    Alan G.

Located right near the Hyatt Centric hotel and open pretty late, Kai Poke Waikiki was a pleasant surprise through its poke bowl that hit the spot after a long evening of activities. Service was pleasant and efficient in this bright, clean storefront. Ordering was easy for a custom poke bowl, and is basically choosing 1,2 or 3 scoops of poke, with the sides being preset and included seaweed salad, edamame, and sliced cucumbers. We also got the free optional fried garlic chips. The spicy ahi poke was creamy and tender, and the shoyu poke was well-seasoned with shoyu, ogo, onion, and sesame oil. There are a variety of other preset poke combination bowls, as well as sashimi and sushi choices. The size of the poke bowl was moderate for the price point, but overall, it was a good experience and Kai Poke fills a particular niche.

Food (4/5): The poke bowl is solid and I like how you can add a bunch of veggies unlike other Hawaiian places which is mostly just the rice and fish. The seasoning on the fish wasn't my favorite but still good. Service (5/5): No issues with the service and the lady did a good job of quickly making our poke bowl. Ambiance (5/5): Chill poke shop vibes with decent amount of tables and chairs inside for seating. The island music is great for relaxing while eating.

I needed my poke fix while in Hawaii. This place was across the street from my stay, so it was so convenient. I ordered the small portion of Hawaiian and shoyu flavor, I think. It was soooo good I was tempted to get it again for dinner. It tasted very fresh and not fishy at all. I would recommend this place to anyone!

Dang good stuff, was recommend by ChatGPT and was well worth the walk over. Thank you Kai Poke!

Fresh and delicious poke bowls! The fish tasted super fresh and the portions were generous. Lots of topping options and everything was well seasoned. Perfect quick meal in Honolulu. Definitely coming back!

Stopped in for a poke bowl. I chose salmon and tuna. The toppings are small. 4 cucumber slices, small amount of corn, seaweed salad, tomato, edamame. I would want two scoops of toppings. The food is delicious.

Small poke bowl $16.99. Hawaiian Ahi and California Ahi with ocean salad and crab mayo salad (toppings adtl charge).

For the price and the quality of the poke, it was underwhelming. The poke is expensive, yet the portions are small (one tiny scoop!), fish isn't as marinated as other poke shops, and I suspect the fish isn't fresh :( ... I got a small poke bowl ($16.99) which comes with two poke styles of your choice. Base choice of sushi rice, brown rice, and green salad. I chose the Hawaiian Ahi and California Ahi with sushi rice. You also get choices for a free side: I chose seaweed salad and crab mayo (paid additional $1.50 for this crab mayo). They also give you a free sauce on the side. Service is good and ambiance of the shop is cute. The fish here was just disappointing and doesn't compare to other poke shops.

Great portion sizes for Waikiki pricing, with a solid selection of both protein and veggie sides. My kids love this place -- they even told me they wouldn't mind having poke every day!

We were waiting outside for our Bus to take up back to our cruise ship there was a handicapped lady sitting in one of his chairs ( I understand it was for his customers) but... he all but dumped the lady out of the chair and yelled for sitting in his chair. Oh and there was not one person in his restaurant!! I would not eat here if there was no more food on earth just plain RUDE!!!

We stumbled upon this place while we were walking around. I was craving a poke bowl so tried one with salmon and ahi tuna. This place is small and had a few tables inside. No frills and nothing fancy - just good, fresh fish. My poke bowl hit the spot. Yummy!

I wanted to try one more poke place during my last full day in Hawaii, so I stopped at Kai Poke. The poke was great, I got the shoyu ahi and the spicy salmon. I like how they let you get all the toppings without charging a premium. I also got a bowl of miso soup since I was craving it badly

TL;DR Fantastic…read morepoke. Manoa represent!!! ----- Off the Hook Poke lives up to the hype. There's a constant line out the door filled with locals and tourists alike. And for good reason. Off the Hook delivers consistent, high-quality poke bowls (trays?) in the heart of beautiful Manoa Valley. I've been coming to Off the Hook since it opened way back in 2018. While the prices have steadily increased, the delicious poke has remained the same. For poke bowls, you have several options to consider: 1) Mini or regular size 2) Rice option (white, brown, sushi, or green salad) 3) One or two choices of poke At this point I've tried almost every one of their poke offerings, and they are all fantastic. You cannot go wrong with whatever you choose. However, I'd say 95% of the time I stick with the Cold Ginger Ahi and the Spicy Ahi. These are guaranteed hits. I also really like the Wasabi Furikake Ahi. Lastly, makes sure you load up on their free toppings! Masago, tempura flakes, and scallions. Yummmy!

Originally posted 7/24/2024: This little Manoa poke shop…read morestorefront always has lines snaking around the block, but not today, so I couldn't resist finding out what all the hype was about. Off the Hook advertises auction-fresh ahi, which distinguishes it from other poke joints that use previously frozen fish. Since I was a first-timer, I opted for a sampler: 1/4 # of each of the following: Shoyu Poke, Kilauea Fire, and the signature Cold Ginger Ahi, which my friends have been raving about. All three were good and seasoned perfectly: just the right amount of sauce. My favorite, hands-down, was the Cold Ginger ahi, which pays homage to the Cantonese ginger-scallion sauce served over chicken, and not oily: wonderfully fresh grated ginger in this! Shoyu was also on point: nice sweet umami sauce. Was actually expecting much more spice in the Kilauea Fire, which had a mild chili flavor. Miso gave it depth and richness, making the sauce gochujang-like in flavor. Arguably, the only downside would be the price point: 1LB= $33.99 1/2LB= $16.99 1/4LB= $8.49: expensive, but excellent-quality product, and definitely fresh, with melt-in-the-mouth fish.

First, the staff is always so kind, accommodating, and patient. If you're ever on the fence, they're always so willing to help guide you in the right direction to give you the best poke experience. Although they've only got a few flavors of Poke, it's perfectly enough! They give you a hefty amount of rice and poke with every bowl; I always have some left over every time and their poke flavors are always SO amazing, regardless of what combination you choose (although, I would recommend their Gingah and Spicy Shoyu together). Although I love their bowls, I would absolutely recommend getting their pound of poke deal. You can divvy up the weight of poke any way you want, so usually my husband and I get a quarter of a different flavor poke and just make our rice at home--the only downside to doing this is that you don't get the fun toppings (furikake and crunchy mochi). Also, just a disclaimer, their space is extremely small with limited bar-type seating, so plan to take your bowl/food to go if you want to be comfortable. The only reason why I'm docking 1 star is because unfortunately, some of their toppings are a little too expensive to add on for the amount that you get. Other than that, Ryder's will not disappoint--I promise! I always recommend this Poke Shop to all of our visitors and I'm not stopping now--try Ryder's out if you're in the area!
