The tsukemen dipping noodles had a flavorful and bold dipping broth. The noodles were thick and chewy. I wish there was more than one slice of pork and half an egg though, especially for $20. I think they're more known for their traditional ramen in broth like the Bomb Ramen. I will try that next time. I've been going to Kai Ramen for at least three years and keep coming back because it's that good. The owner is super attentive and kind, and you can tell he genuinely cares about what he's making. I stick with the ramen every time. The broth is incredible, with this rich depth that you notice right away. I asked the owner why it was so good, and he told me he cooks it for over 20 hours. That dedication shows in every bite. The whole bowl is solid: tender pork, a perfectly cooked soft-boiled egg, good noodles, and fresh toppings. Everything works. If you want ramen from someone who actually cares about what they're doing, Kai Ramen is worth it.
The owner greeted me at the door, gave me a seat at the bar, and then ran around the counter and made me the yummy vegan ramen he'd recommended! The broth is hearty and the noodles fresh--and arrive lickety split. The house egg is perfect--creamy and lightly seasoned. There's a reason why they are doing a brisk pickup business, even on Easter Sunday! Check it out.

Although the staff were friendly, the service was a bit spotty. They would only fill your water glass under 3/4 and never paid attention to when it was time to refill. Aside from that, the ramen was decent. I had the Spicy Chicken Ramen, and Spicy Fried chicken and Crispy Chicken Gyoza as appetizers. The fried chicken wasn't spicy or traditionally fried. It only had a light crisp to it. The flavors were all there so that's why truly mattered. The Gyoza was the highlight and star of the night. I'm not sure what all was inside of it, but it tasted amazing. Had I known, I could have easily done two orders of that and would have been satisfied. Overall, a decent or spot. No regrets.
Close by Otis College of Design and lots of other food places nearby. There is street parking and a small lot next door for the other business but they were closed on a Sunday when we went. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Very clean and spacious inside and even with only one server available, the service was friendly and efficient for our party of 4.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] He made great recommendations for the ramen and two bowls were enough for 2 kids and 2 adults. Really enjoyed the Bomb Ramen good flavor but even with no spice was a bit spicy for the kids. The kids ramen was regular size bowl just with less ingredients, perfect for younger kids who can be picky with food. The sushi rolls and the poke salad were all great too. Compliments to the owner for the great service and food.
Was looking for a "soup" lunch on Yelp and came across this nearby restaurant that is too easy to pass by (as, I have!) and too good to pass up (because it was REALLY good!)... Kai Ramen is located on a strip of retail on the east side of Lincoln Blvd between a shopping center with Starbucks and a corner with a gas station. It's three storefronts off of the corner. On first appearance, street parking is available, if you can get it...but if you dig a little deeper and you can walk around the corner, there's a few parking spaces located in the back alley! Being a bit later than traditional lunch time, we walked into the empty restaurant, but very shortly after, two other people came in. We were seated at a table, while the others ate at the low bar. Each table had a kiosk for ordering that made it easy to customize your ramen order. For this visit, we stuck strictly to the soup, but most of the other menu items looked absolutely incredible! We both ordered a customized version of the Chicken ramen - mine with corn (hold the broccoli and green onions - add tofu) and my companion's with pork and red ginger added. The chicken broth was thick and rich - it had a depth that I'm not use to with basic broth. The chicken pieces were dense but moist - easily fell apart. The tofu was medium hard, so it held its cube shape nicely, and did not feel like pudding while eating it. And to be honest, this was my first ramen experience, so I wasn't sure about what to expect from the egg - but it was SOOOO delicious! Just the right level of hard boiled. Overall, we both really enjoyed our soup lunch. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The owner was lovely and the location was clean.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I have two personal reasons for less than five stars: the first is price. Without any customization additions or beverages, soup for two for lunch would have been $40 before tip. Adding the items to our soup bumped one up to $20 and the other up to $30. Yes, decisions were knowingly made, but it would have been terrific to have lunch time or happy hour specials. My second reason is because this was my first visit. I would hope the wonderful experience to be consistent, but until my next visit, I'm just not willing to give the top marks. But again, definitely a place worth trying if you have a hankering for soup and a flexible wallet!

Instead of actual chicken pieces, I received a container of random fried meat chunks that were dry, tough, and overcooked. The ramen was bland and tasted like watered-down broth with noodles. For nearly 40 this was extremely disappointing. If you're going to advertise one thing, at least send something that resembles it. Won't be ordering from here again."

Sometimes you're just craving ramen and don't want to travel across town to get it. This spot right off Lincoln was exactly what we were looking for. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a small, casual place and was pretty wide open when we visited.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Ordering is done through an iPad, which makes the experience as quick or as leisurely as you want it to be. The menu had a lot of interesting options, and everything looked tempting. I ended up going with the pork ramen to satisfy the craving, along with an order of gyoza. Both hit the spot and left me wanting to come back to explore more of the menu. Overall, a really easy and enjoyable experience. We'll definitely be back and be a little more adventurous with our order next time. read more

Service here is exceptional and I was super hungry and decided to have ramen and enjoy because of the cold beach weather lol I got the volcano ramen and it was delicious! This is what I order from here usually. I will definitely come back again soon! The noodles were yummy and the chicken too. The lime is a nice touch for the soup and I finished it all..... This is one of two Ramen locations on Lincoln having a standoff right near LMU. After looking at both of them for so long and wondering how they might both exist directly across from each other, I finally decided to come in and try it (I'm already familiar with the other spot from a different location). I came in during the summer, so there were significantly less people because most of the students have gone home. There was only one person taking and making all of the orders for myself, a few other customers, and food delivery. While I initially worried about how long this might take with just one person, I shouldn't have because it did not take long. He brought out the crispy, vegan spring rolls and my vegan Ramen very quickly. The spring rolls had a delicious crisp and the middle was piping hot, and I loved the dipping sauce for a little extra zip of flavor! The Ramen bowl had a lot of fun textures, and flavors that came together nicely and were a lot of fun to eat and very tasty! The host/cook/server was quick and kind! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance was slightly fancier than I expected although the digital screen I had at my spot at the counter didn't work.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My only complaint was that I chose to come to this restaurant because I really also wanted to try the inari sushi they have displayed on the front window but then I didn't see it on the menu. The store closed for a few months. It recently opened with new management. I got two orders to go. The owner (?) was the only one working. He worked super hard but looked over his head. Hope he gets some help. Customers waited for a bit before being helped or fed they almost walked out. I hope this Ramenya is able to hire employees and make the business work read more

We were disappointed on a recent trip to try their ramen for our lunch. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Service was fine and friendly, the restaurant appeared clean and neat.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The actual noodles and broth were fine. Nothing I would be excited about and worth returning. Parts of the toppings were shall we say past being good. We returned our ramen but was only replaced with new toppings instead of a new order being made. It did not make it an enjoyable eating experience. Sorry. read more

Came here after a doctor's appointment and it was completely empty. I saw after I sat down that they are "closed" between 3-5pm via Yelp but the door was open and they told me to have a seat. They must've remembered that they "close" during that time because I was given the check before I was even half way done with my food and then the server/owner, who was nice, kept sitting closer to me as if to say "hurry up". I found it rude, so that alone will keep me from returning. I ordered the red tonkotsu at medium level. Wasn't spicy really so I could've definitely ordered hot. The noodles had a nice chew to them though. I also ordered the spicy tuna on crispy rice which came way after I got the ramen, even though it is meant to be an appetizer. I live in playa vista and have discovered this place just a mile up the street. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This place is clean, convenient, and delicious![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The chicken ramen is healing, the tonkatsu is a exactly like I love, and even the sushi is top notch. I got a generously portioned spicy tuna roll and it was an A+. This is the type of restaurant where you visit once a week and work your way through the entire menu. read more

AMAZING ramen - white tonkotsu w thick noodles and an extra egg and bomb ramen were both perfect, savory, delicious, deep flavors. We also tried the salmon avocado roll and agedashi tofu - which with a surprising and yummy bite. The chef (owner?) was very friendly.
