    Braised Chicken Rice Bowl (large)
    Joy B.

Cute little place on a cute mid-century modern vibe street. Ample free parking in the lot in the back, but you have to walk around to the front to enter. Parking also available on the street in front. Tables are mostly for small parties--we had 5 people and we had to sit either outside or at the bar. We chose outside which was nice but it was a bit chilly out. Servers were very attentive especially with keeping our waters filled. We ordered a variety of dishes, different ramens and rice bowls. I got the large braised chicken bowl, which was a great portion size. We also ordered some seaweed salad. Everyone raved about their food, the only thing that got a mixed review was the bao bun, which my husband said was a bit stiff. Pricing is reasonable. We enjoyed our dinner after picking up our daughter at LAX, only a 7 minute drive away.

My roommate treated me for driving her from LAX! This was one of the first places that popped up in Yelp, which is why I was eager to taste and see how accurate these Yelp reviews are. Indeed - this ramen place is well worth the visit. For a rainy day, the broth was a wonderful, warm form of nourishment. As soon as you enter into the vicinity, you're met with a whole new world that I feel like a lot of restaurants in LA captures well as a diverse culture hub. I'd recommend dining in at this place for smaller parties. There's a parking lot nears Staples that has helped with parking availability for us. Service is kind and immediate. Thank you all, and God bless you all+

Very close to LAX. Dropped someone off at the airport around dinner time, and happily found this legit hole in the wall ramen place. There's nothing fancy here. A busy kitchen and a bunch of tables in a fairly small room. Parking was easy, maybe we just got lucky. Service was prompt. The food comes out quick. I'm not a ramen expert, but I've eaten my fair share. The ramen here is good to very good. Flavor was on point. My only gripe is that there wasn't quite enough broth in the bowl. I would definitely come back here.

Very friendly staff, good prices, and sizable ramen bowls. Very flavorful and everything came out fresh. Nice spot convenient to the airport for a quick no frills bite.

Dined in at Ramen Joint in Westchester last night (12/7/25) and had a really great experience! From the moment we sat down, everything moved smoothly and the food came out hot and fresh. We truly enjoyed every dish we ordered. We had tonkatsu ramen, shoyu chicken ramen, pork belly buns, karaage and side of fries. We enjoyed all the dishes but what really stood out was the noodle texture--perfectly cooked, al dente, not soggy at all, just the way good ramen should be. The broth was flavorful and comforting, and the toppings were generous and well-seasoned. Each bowl was satisfying from first bite to last sip. You can tell they pay attention to quality and consistency. The atmosphere was clean and welcoming, making it a nice spot to dine in and enjoy a warm meal. Service was friendly and attentive without being intrusive, which we always appreciate. Overall, a solid ramen spot in Westchester that we'll definitely be coming back to when we're craving a good bowl of ramen. Highly recommended!

After a night of celebration - woke up in the morning feeling like the E.T. in ICU. To cure this symptom I found the Ramen Joint. Venue: small/ hole in the wall vibe. This type of place always makes legit food. Food: We ordered shio and spicy tonkatsu ramen. Both broth were packed with deep flavor but not overly rich. Perfect salt, umami savory flavor. I was pretty impressed. Service: awesome and warm welcoming service. I think either the owner or the one who made ramen came to check up on us too. Price: reasonable

Ok been a couple times in the past month and haven't been here in years! The Tonkatsu Pork broth is delish, I got it without the pork. And a second time I got it with two eggs to add protein. The crispy shrimp rolls are crunchy and go well with the ramen. Not the healthiest but that's not why you get these lol! The pork and chicken buns were good but I probably won't get them again. Service was great as it was very slow on a Tuesday night around 8pm. Ambience was chill. It's definitely a cozy worn in spot now vs the swanky brand new vibes from 9 years ago! Can't believe e it's been open nearly 10yrs. My other ramen go to is Kanpai the sushi spot around the corner. Their noodles are larger than the ones here so I like to come here for the smaller noodles, their broth and things like the chicken kaarage and shrimp rolls. Brought two sets of friend here this month and they both loved it.

Good service. I loved the decor, there were cats everywhere! Not the best ramen i've ever had but not the worst. I got the spicy shoyu tonkastsu, level 2 spicy. It wasn't spicy at all really. The noodles were chewy and the broth was delicious. The portion size was perfect. Not too much to leave me feeling stuffed and not too little to leave me wanting more. Decent place overall.

Ordered the shoyu tonkatsu and enjoyed it. Egg was not soft boiled but they had chili oil and dashi on the table that enhanced the broth. My friend enjoyed their pork miso ramen that came with a thicker noodle. Service was fast and attentive. Decor is standard for ramen joints - tables, counter and knick knacks on the wall.

Haven't been to this place in years but decided to try again since I haven't been here in a while. Their menu expanded and they also added outdoor seating. They have bar seating and also tables inside. Service was pretty quick as soon as we sat down as it wasn't that busy of a day today. I ordered the Mazemen, which was new on the menu to me. It's a dry noodle with chive, green onion, seaweed, fish powder, egg yolk, garlic paste and ground pork. It was pretty good, had great flavor, but noodles were softer than I'd like and sauce was a little sticky. My son ordered the shoyu tonkatsu ramen. He said it was not bad. Had some flavor and great toppings like pork, Woodward mushrooms, bamboo shoots and a soft boiled egg.

The Chicken Ramen is a WIN every single time! The broth alone is ridiculously delicious! I've been too plenty of Ramen spots in LA & this one is definitely in my TOP 3 The service is quick and friendly as well! Can't go wrong here

Stopped here near LAX and I'm honestly mad I didn't find it sooner. The ramen is stupid good. The broth is rich and savory like someone actually cared about it, not just salty hot water with vibes. Noodles had that perfect chew, and the toppings felt legit instead of an afterthought. I basically inhaled the bowl and immediately wanted another one. Service was fast and friendly, which is clutch when you're traveling or just trying to grab something solid before dealing with airport chaos. If you're looking for the best ramen stop near LAX, this is it. I'll 100% be back the next time I'm anywhere in the area.

    Dezmond B.

Came here for lunch with the family and left satisfied as hell. The food comes out QUICKLY so it's well worth the wait to sit in the tiny establishment. They give you spice levels for the ramen dishes from mild to very very spicy. They did not shy away from the different flavors added into the Ramen bowl. We also enjoyed some Bao buns as well which were a pleasant treat. The only bad thing is the seating in the restaurant, however i look at it as an exclusive thing and not a burden.

The Ramen Joint Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - The Ramen Joint

Do they have delivery or pick up.?

When I went I picked up but I'm not 100% sure if they deliver as well.

Do they have heaters for outdoor seating?

    Yes, they do!

Do you still have outdoor seating? Where is parking, is there ample parking? Thank you.

Yes, Yes, & Yes! Beside parking on the street in the front there is a good size parking lot at the back.

Do they still have outdoor seating?

Yes, as of today they still have outdoor seating.

What is in the fried dumplings (i.e. vegetarian, pork, chicken)?

    Pork

What is the parking situation here?

There's a large parking lot at the end of the strip where target and office max is. If your lucky, you might get street parking at the restaurant.

Are they closed? The phone is never answered (during business hours).

They are open now ! ! ! I go there often.

Is the broth for the shoyu chicken ramen pork or chicken broth?

    Chicken 🐔

Including noodles, are there gluten free options?

They have rice bowls that are gluten free. In terms of the noodles I don't recall if they had gluten free noodles.

Is the vegetable ramen pure vegetarian, even the broth?

Yes it is, I asked:) and if you want to make it vegan you can ask for no buttered corn.

    Does the food have MSG?

Possibly, but so do tomatoes. It's a naturally occurring compound and there has never been a proven case of MSG sensitivity. So I wouldn't worry about it.

I wish they put their hours on the front page of the website i had to look on here only to find out I drove all the way here and they are closed 330 in the afternoon ...…

Hmmm... maybe you should write a review so they would know about your issue. It may also have to do with whether or not they have claimed their listing. If they haven't they can't change anything. Or maybe they don't really have consistent hours.… Read more

I remember going here during their grand opening ages ago, did their, back then, super cheap deal with unlimited noodle refill (even further discounted due to the special event day) and eating to the point of barely being able to sit up in the car without throwing up. I have a picture of my brother eating here in middle school with us and then later on in his early 20's. Crazy time lapse, and truly shows what a favorite this place is and it's place in the community. As with all businesses in Little Tokyo, parking can suck (not as bad as K-town, but you're either paying or super circling around). Service is super efficient, welcoming and polite, as with their other locations as well. It's not the biggest restaurant, but none of the Shinsengumis I've been to have been particularly large. With this location, from my first visit, and all the subsequent visits, I always get their Hakata ramen, firmer noodles, since the longer I eat and enjoy the food, they'll soften a bit, less soup oil and less saltiness. I get all of the toppings that it comes with and I always add in a poached egg. Love the strong pork flavor since they stew their broth for so long and the tenderness of the chashu (sometimes I order more). Prices have definitely gone up and a slightly altered upgraded version of this ramen is almost $30 if you're not careful enough. Times have changed but how good this place hasn't. There's more ramen options now than there were like 10 years ago, but Shinsengumi is always a classic.

The tonkotsu is not one of those rich, milky, creamy ones and I personally like these lighter ones more. There was not anyone at the restaurant at the time, but people did start trickling in as more time elapsed. We got our food relatively quickly as well. FOOD: I ordered the spicy pork tsukemen ($23.45), which is their dipping noodle. The noodles are thicker than standard ramen, but in a good way! It comes with thick chashu (thick, fatty pork) slices and soft boiled eggs. If you haven't had tsukemen before, you essentially dip your noodles into the broth and then eat it that way. The broth is extremely flavorful and there are also pieces of chashu in it as well. The only critique that I have regarding this is the broth was lukewarm which made the dish taste slightly off. I've tried this dish at another branch and the broth was also lukewarm there, so I'm not sure if this is a location issue or a standard amongst all branches. Also, this dish does not really have any vegetables in this, but I also don't know if traditional tsukemen has veggies included. SERVICE: Service was quick and everyone was nice and doing their job. Didn't seem like the staff was slacking or messing around while there weren't many customers. They were very attentive to us, refilling our water immediately once they saw it was getting low, and being very attentive towards if we had any other concerns or if we needed anything else. PARKING: There technically is street parking but since it's in Little Tokyo, it's going to be very difficult to find it. There's $4-6 valet parking available nearby the location. There are a lot of people walking around though so just be safe. INTERIOR: It's not too big of a place but it's also not too small as well. It looks very well kept and clean. BATHROOM: Two gender neutral bathroom stalls that are both very clean and accessible. No issues here with them. TLDR: Overall, I thought the place was pretty good to eat at! I would definitely come back for the tsukemen (as long as the broth is warmed up until it's hot). A very good dish combined with great music (they have some great Japanese music variety) is definitely a spot worth coming to with friends !! :))
