I have been to a rotary sushi place so I like the concept and figured because rolls are smaller we could get a bunch of different ones to try. This review is solely based on a take order on Valentines Day. Our usual sushi spot cancelled our order due to only having two chefs and I saw all the good yelp reviews so we decided to try Kai. The sushi was good but nothing really stood out to me. I felt like most of their rolls were either shrimp, salmon, or tuna. I didn't see any Lobster rolls or anything inventive. They seemed a bit plain for us. Not a bad spot I am just spoiled when it comes to sushi. Definitely would recommend this place for a beginner sushi eater. My boyfriend and I went here on a whim. We had intended to go to another place that had sushi but they were all booked up. So I found this place on Google and we tried it out. I'm so glad we made it here! The sushi was great and for a good price. But what stood out to me was the owner and the staff were so kind to us! They joked with us! Haven't written a review in a long time but felt like I needed to because I really enjoyed this place. This a conveyor style sushi joint where you are able to have a seat and grab whatever your heart desires. The plates are colored and correlate to the price of sushi. You stack your plates and they tally up the price up at the end. Not all items are on the conveyor belt and you may need to order from the menu. I felt like the prices were very reasonable. I got three plates of sushi, one dish of seaweed salad, and a dessert for about $19. Pretty great deal in my opinion. This place is worth a visit. It is clean and has good sushi and customer service. A really great way to try different things and keep things new versus just getting 2-3 whole rolls which can get boring quick for me. The price is pretty cheap in general. Some belt items were even cheaper than the menu, even if it's half the amount of pieces. They had a lunch special menu that had 3 main options, like 3 nigiri pieces with choice of 2 six piece rolls plus soup or salad for $10. Visited around opening hour and they had a bunch of stuff on the belt but definitely wait a little longer for any new plates, I missed out on 3pc shrimp tempura because I had already eaten too much. Some purple plates I saw had tempura chicken or beef, spicy fried salmon skin, and futomaki made with inari age, some type of pickle, tamago and something else. The green tea Hokkaido mille crepe was average, not enough green tea for me, but refreshing because it was not too sweet and the cream was slightly still frozen. Let me start by saying: My boyfriend and I go to Kai once a week, this review was prompted after our experience on Saturday night. We go to Kai once a week because we live 5 minutes away, it's cheap and we enjoy the rotary belt sushi because it's fast. The quality of food isn't spectacular but for the price and location for us, you can't beat it. Being regular customers, we decided to go there Saturday night for our weekly dinner. When we arrive there are open seats at the bar and also an entire wall of booths open (maybe about 5 booths open.) We walk in and the hostess immediately shows us to the bar and we tell her we prefer a booth and she looks at the empty wall of booths, turns to us and says "we have no booths available right now." That was it, no explanation as to why she couldn't seat us at any table, no apology, not even a wait for how long it would take to sit a table. So I turn to my boyfriend and tell him we should go somewhere else. And just like that we took our business to Hokkai Sushi where the sushi was fresh, quality was amazing, and it was 21 dollars all you can eat. We will not return to Kai Sushi any time soon after that experience. We understand that maybe you could be saving the booths for bigger parties but to not even give us an explanation when there are 5 empty booths was just plain rude. Besides that, the last time we ate there we ordered the spring rolls as an appetizer and they were still frozen in the middle. As I stated earlier the food is not amazing quality. read more

Kai Sushi is fine. It's better than OK, but I wouldn't say I'm a big fan. From the lack of a cool ambiance to the uncomfy booths, mundane interiors with a former fast food type vibe, the sometimes too rice laden rolls or sushi being too lukewarm when it should be cold, or too cool when it should be hot, is a huge confusion, as are the options are the conveyor and how they're chosen. I've been twice, on a Friday, both times they were packed, and both times, the selection on the conveyor was instantly redundant and remained the same. Prices are very reasonable, and diners are bound to leave stuffed. Still, the temptation is to order piecemeal from the conveyor, which can be hit or miss, depending on what the restaurant decides to bring forward. If it weren't for my friends that adore this place, I'd probably dine here only sporadically. read more

Not a really typical Japanese foods. Using packaging wasabi that blew my mind. When asked for fresh one, one server said didn't have it but the other was able to bring some to me. Sushi was fine but expensive. 2pcs of salmon cost $4.50. It was on the pick plate but I was charged as red one. If that pick look red to them, there is no pick plate at all. I also ordered tuna poke which was really disappointed. Tuna was cut in very tiny cube and not many of them with my large order. The bowl is large filled with rice mostly. The sushi itself is average,I'd say between buffet/premade and real sushi restaurant but the prices are pretty reasonable, so it's priced accordingly. The service was great. My husband got the ramen and I really didn't like it, but I can be weird about it. It's not fancy, and very kid friendly. 3 stars is strictly for what it is, 'fast' atmosphere and not too fresh, but that's what it's meant to be so give it a try. I never seen conveyor belt sushi place before, it's really convenience you just grab and eat, it's much more easier than the traditional sushi places! the service are very good, all the staffs are so nice and friendly it was an awesome experience! We had a long evening of mattress shopping and decided to end the evening with a meal. My partner and I saw a sign about sushi on a conveyer belt and dragged my 75 year old mom to join us. She was concerned about the impact of eating raw fish so she steered clear of the food on the conveyor belt. Good thing she did, because about 40 minutes after leaving the restaurant I was doubled over with severe abdominal pcramps and diarrhea. It hit my partner about an hour later. Looking for a great variety of sushi, not overloaded w/sushi rice on each roll (as some places do) we were at an All you can eat sushi earlier in the week, and the wait time for our orders were 45 min each time we gave them a request.. so we wanted something faster...we thought we'd give KaiSushi a try! We went during peak hours on a saturday night and the belt was looking bleak and empty. Service was okay, but no appetizers except the couple that went by when we first sat down. Sushi was not anything special for the prices. Rolls weren't really creative or different at this one and the sushi did not taste fresh or flavorful at all! Tasted like it must have been sitting for awhile. seems like people have probably caught on to the bland old sushi served since we were seated right away on a weekend evening and only about half of the seats were filled. The mochi was okay but was only given two small rolls of it- other rotarys are usually more generous for the price and no red bean-the best mochi flavor in my opinion! Would not go back and would recommend taking the drive 20 mins farther to Aurora if you're looking for good rotary in the burbs- to Sushi + Rotary sushi bar which is far better in food and service in my opinion! read more
