    Absolutely delicious nigiris are found here! The two kind servers and the sushi chefs are looking out for your taste buds and they would want up to get their local BC uni ($6). It is often sold out but it's probably the best Uni you can get in town. I don't want to rave too much because I don't want my Uni to always be sold out but this place deserve the recognization.

    I came here for dinner with a friend on a weekday evening because of the excellent Yelp reviews. We decided to get a half order of salmon and tuna sashimi as well as two rolls - mako roll, rising sun roll. Overall I found the sushi quite fresh. The rising sun roll was quite unique in that there was no seaweed at all which was a first. However I did not find the special rolls that unique but thought they were quite tasty regardless. Friendly staff and stop by if you're in the area!

    Was staying in central downtown van city and was looking for great places to eat some sushi for dinner. Little did you know, I eventually stumbled across Kaide Sushi. After seeing that it had consistent great reviews and amazing 5 star comments, I encouraged my crew to try it. We made a reservation for 7, which they were very friendly about in making quick accommodations. We headed over and they already had a table set up for us. Service was great right off the bat! Food: I orderd salmon sashimi cuts, and dynamite roll. Personally ordered this because they are my two favourite in general. AND BOY OH BOY! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE! The cuts were fresh, thick, and amazing. Flavourful. I can't find a fresh fish place like this in Toronto... mmm!! My friends had the Kaide specials, and they too, were fresh, amazing, and soooo worth it. We all took our time and appreciated the food, because it was definitely worth taking your time to enjoy. The price would be around $$ depending on what you get. I now understand why people rave about BC sushi, and I'm glad that I've experienced it with Kaide. Would definitely come back! 5/5!!

    Def number one place to trust if you are getting sushi during a pandemic. The owner Tom's standards are so high that he currently only has his family (wife, daughter and son) work at his restaurant to ensure the safety of his customers. His family lives with him so he knows exactly where they go. This is one of my fav sushi places. If you are particular about how sushi places pack their rice of being even (not like some sushi places where they pack their rice so full you feel like you're eating a matted carpet ), and snobbish of wanting a very high grade of sushi that's so fresh then def try Kaide! I ordered my usual the 501 roll, tobiko, butterfish(soo addicting.. a must try), special chop, uni and a different roll I never tried; Tofino. Keep in mind that they are closed Sunday and Mondays if you are wanting a fix.

    A small homey place for great sushi. Love the Kaide assorted sushi. It is $24 for like around 10 pieces of sushi. My favorite is toro sushi (tuna belly), butterfly fish sushi, egg roll, and scallop sushi.

    I was pretty disappointed in this place to be honest. The inside in nothing special. Small. Old table and chairs. Dated decor. We started with sashimi. The fish was decent but I immediately noticed the lemon and ginger were old and dried out. We had their specialty "umé" and "Big Bang" roll. They were small and rolled very poorly. They were falling apart before we even touched them. The taste was very bland on both rolls, and the avocado used was turning brown. I won't be rushing back.

    Vancouver is blessed with an abundance of sushi restaurants that churn out big portions and some fusion for reasonable prices. Kaide stands out as a more traditional and smaller Mom n' Pop style experience that prides itself on its daily fresh offerings. I had what I think might be the best saba nigiri I've ever had in the city. Fresh saba hits different! Kaide's was nicely charred - still had that nice oily texture & fishy flavour saba is known for but somehow cleaner and smoother. Service is nice and attentive. The sushi chef takes a lot of pride in his food !

    Extremely impressed with the quality of the sushi here. We have a tonne of sushi joints in the Toronto area and all I ever hear is "you'll never have Sushi like you get in Vancouver". For the most part my response has been "ok.." (insert eye roll). Because I've been to Van a bunch of times and the places people took mere kinda - meh! And truthfully for the most part I had eaten better back home. Then this time around Kaide happened. They have a reputation apparently of being one of the freshest places for sushi in the city and despite this it's still relatively low key. Alright, Van-Kaida - do your best to me! Smaller unassuming joint, not on a heavy traffic way, but more of a condo/townhouse neighbourhood in a store front that's nothing special. Walked in and got the boisterous Japanese welcome from the sushi chefs - always a welcome experience. The menu isn't massive, and prices are at a premium so we selected 3-4 items to share. The assorted sushi platter, the Sashimi, Rising Sun Roll and the Seaweed salad. The assorted was pretty good, as expected but definitely had me noticing something different in the quality of the rice and the fish on certain pieces. Then the Sashimi really knocked me on my ass. The fish was so fresh, like unbelievably fresh, I had to double take. Not too cold (as in previously frozen), not quite room temp, but little to no after taste and generous, professionally cut pieces of assorted treats from the sea! Lastly the seaweed salad and the rising sun roll were both equally good. The yellow wrap around the roll had a nice flavour to it, however even though we were sharing this roll quickly lost favour with us and the flavour became too much for both of us, however I still appreciated how fresh the fish (maybe scallops) were. Overall this is the first time I have been shown that when it comes to Sushi, Vancouver does have (and can have) an advantage, all that is needed is the effort. Check them out! Eatcrest Out!

    If you want delicious and extremely fresh sashimi, then Kaide is the place! I had a work pal visiting from out of town who hasn't really been too impressed with the Vancouver sushi scene during his past visits. Me being the Vancouver sushi snob I am had to find a place that would impress him this time around. Enter Kaide. Full disclosure here, I'm not the biggest fresh sushi/sashimi eater. I love my saucy, deep fried, fusion rolls through and through. But when a restaurant specializes in serving the freshset of the fresh... I just couldn't say no. And damn, did I leave Kaide full, satisfied and impressed. Kaide is located a bit out of the way from the normal foot traffic of Downtown and Yaletown. For how highly rated this spot is, I thought it would be a lot busier. Lucky us, we came in at prime dinner time and were able to snag a table for 2 right away. The restaurant is small and unpretnesious. There are a few small tables scattered throughout the small space. If you're looking to come in with a larger party, definitely recommend calling ahead to make sure they have room since the space is small. They don't have a large menu. Since they specialize in sashimi, their menu leaned heavily towards this kind of sushi. We ordered a few things to share: + Assorted sushi platter (6 different kinds of sushi) + Sashimi platter + Rising Sun Roll + Seaweed salad I was honestly blown away by how fresh the sashimi tasted. Our server came over and explained what each roll was and how we should eat it (taste, before dipping in sauce, and explaining the different sauces that came with). I didn't even use any of the sauce for most of them because they just tasted so fresh and delicious. I can't pick out which one I liked the best, because I turly really loved all of them. Well freaking done, Kaide. I've recommended Kaide to at least 5 of my friends since my visit here and I will definitely be back to satisfy my fresh sushi craving.

    We were staying in Yaletown and chose this spot because the photos looked good, it's a small cozy little spot, nothing fancy, a little away from the touristy busyness of Robson etc. We came in at a good time for dinner and we sat pretty quickly. Staff was very friendly with the greetings and one of the staff gals gave me a tissue to help me de-fog my glasses when coming in from the cold. How cute! Anyways, menu has a lot of choices and took us a few extra minutes to go over what we wanted. We weren't famished or anything, so between the 2 of us we shared the Combination of Kaide Assorted Sushi ( 9 piece of chef's best that comes with tekka and salmon rolls) we also added an Unagi Roll too because I gotta get me an eel. Everything was nicely made with good presentation, fresh tasting and seemed of good quality to me. I didn't even use soy sauce and it was still mighty yummy. All was tasty and we contemplated on possibly ordering more but didn't. As mentioned, staff was friendly throughout, attentive and hustled to keep up with everything. Prices are pretty good too, it wasn't ridiculously expensive or even close to being cray. Glad we came by and would re-visit again on future trips. Nice little sushi gem of a place to find among all the good food in the area.

    This place is great! Everything tasted fresh and delicious. I liked the spicy tuna sashimi $16 - it's done in a different way than I'm used to (not that thick red sauce haha) and it was so good! Expensive tho. The wild sockeye salmon sashimi $16 was amazing. So red and fresh. The tamago $2 and toro nigiri ($3.75?) is also worth returning for!

    It's awesome to have such a highly celebrated sushi place right outside my door -- and yet I didn't know this place was all that hot for YEARS. I went to Kaide for the first time this summer. Quite simply it is among the best sashimi and nigiri I've had (not a huge fan of maki, so if that's your thing, my review won't be that informative.) Returned again yesterday and got quite a bit more than last time. Food 5/5 -- I would highly recommend taking a look at their daily specials. I had spot prawn, blue fin, butterfish, and moaaaar! The butterfish is highly celebrated by yelp reviewers and I have to say it did not disappoint. One thing I would really comment on here is the quality of the fish. I also had the Unagi Don. Love Unagi and once again it did not disappoint. The BBQ sauce was so rich, and the eel was soft and buttery -- loved it. I also got Asahi Black Super Dry... you could say I'm a fan. Service 5/5 -- The service was great, although I would say our server was quite shy -- not a big deal, as she did a superb job. She always refilled our tea before it got low, did quality checks, cleared the table, and took our orders timely and without confusion. They were quite busy when we came in and a lot of tables were being settled for the end of the lunch rush, but it did not affect the quality of service. Cleanliness 5/5 -- Easy points yet again, Kaide is on a roll! Atmosphere 2/5 -- Ah, here we go. Unfortunately Kaide is not comfortable at all. They make due with the space they have, but I still feel like it could be done quite a bit better. Plus this place has the quality of food to be a really trendy sushi joint. The bathroom is typical for a shared space building in Yaletown. Walk through a door in the back and find yourself in a concrete hallway with various doors. The men's washroom has a single stall and urinal, but can also lock from the inside. Wonder what the point of that is? A couple pretends that they have to take a deuce at the same time, but then end up going into the locked bathroom to have some frisky time. Sounds like the beginnings of the next romance of Notebook proportions! Overall 4.25/5 -- Kaide is a real gem. You owe it to yourself to try it out.

    Kaide came up on the Yelp app as the best sushi in the area, and my expectations were high, given the great seafood we've had in Vancouver. Unfortunately, Kaide failed to live up to the hype. The sashimi sampler was just okay, artistically presented, fresh, and nicely cut but quality was fair to average. The specials are definitely the way to go, with butterfish being one of the standouts. We opted for a few of their featured rolls, only to find several unavailable and the ones we did try underwhelming. Service was adequately attentive considering how busy they were, but ultimately, if this is some of the best sushi the city has to offer, I don't need to try anywhere else in town.

Light batter, but slightly overbrowned. - Miso Black Cod: Good. More elaborate presentation than most, but very small piece. - Salmon Belly Sashimi: Very good. Fresh and delicious. - Tom Special Roll Tray: Very good. A great way to sample all the different roll, all which are very good. I thought it was reasonably priced and could adequately feed 4 people. Service was very good. There are a LOT of staff, so we were constantly being checked on to make sure we were happy and got anything we needed. Overall a good meal. It doesn't classify as the best sushi in Vancouver, but I can see the quality-value ratio might be the best in the city. All the food was quite good and certainly not overpriced. I imagine the high staff count was due to the overwhelming amount of takeout orders. I would return.

My hubs and I vacationed in Vancouver a few weeks ago in late April. We had seen the long lines for dinner at Saku when we were here more than a year ago. So, we decided to give them a try for a late lunch around 2pm on a Wednesday afternoon. No wait. We got seated right away. We liked how spacious and airy the dining room was. Our wait staff were friendly and on point. They were considerate about answering our questions about the food and food allergies. I ordered the chicken thigh katsu ($26 Can) and my hubs got the chicken thigh curry ($28.50 Can). No dairy involved in either dish which I was happy about because I have challenges digesting milk protein. Yes, it's kinda pricey. Yes, it's totally worth it. The katsu is light, crispy, fried perfectly, not greasy, and comes with unlimited rice, miso soup, finely chopped cabbage salad, and an addictively delicious sesame dressing. My hubs' curry sauce was served on the side so he could pour out as much or as little as he wanted. All in all, it was a very pleasant and satisfying meal. Saku is top notch for katsu. You won't believe how good katsu can be until you try it.

Okeya Kyujiro is a Michelin one-star theatrical omakase restaurant, and when they say theatrical, they mean it! From the moment you're welcomed by smiling ushers in kimono to the closing tea ceremony, every movement feels intentional, precise, and elevated. The ambiance is serene and anticipatory. At the start, guests sit in silence as a black screen conceals the chefs. You see their shadows moving behind it. A bell rings, the screen lifts, and the performance begins. Dinner is a 25+ course experience priced at $325 per person. It's undeniably a splurge, but for a milestone celebration, it feels justified. The menu is seafood-forward, with many ingredients flown in from Japan. Each ingredient is presented before preparation, then carefully assembled and served directly from chef to guest. Courses arrive one by one, never rushed. The service team moves seamlessly in the background, refilling water and attending to drinks (available as an add-on) without disrupting the flow. The finale is a matcha ceremony, whisked in front of you with the same quiet precision that defines the evening. When the final sip is taken, the bell chimes once more, the chefs and staff bow, and the screens close. It was a beautifully choreographed dining experience, perfect for marking a special moment, and one I'd gladly return to for the next celebration.

This is a more theatrical style so expect louder music and a more theatrical experience (eg one of the servers played the flute for the guests celebrating birthdays). I prefer a more intimidate and interactive style of omakase where you can talk with the chefs. This lunch also felt a little fast in terms of progression of the meal. Some of the dishes were very tasty while others didn't wow us. With drinks, we were quite full despite some reviews saying portion is on the smaller size. Our total was around $500 with drinks for 2 people. A really good experience for omakase, especially if you are looking for a unique experience though not my favourite one I've tried.
