I would come back just for more Mac and cheese it was quiet delicious so cheesy so warm so melt in your mouth goodness. My other favorite not pictured were the skewers so soft not a difficult chew at all. The pisco punch was not sweet at all and even a bit refreshing. Staff was very friendly and attentive.

I feel so lucky that Kaiyo is one of our go-to spots. they never fail to impress! each dish is genuinely worth trying. I always go for the Nikkei nigiri platter, which comes with 5 Peruvian style nigiri (sushi chef's choice) that are artfully crafted. our favorite sushi rolls are the Lima (tempura shrimp gives a great crunch and the flavors are delightful!) and Kaiyo, and their hand rolls hit every time too! of the other nigiri, definitely try the hotate (scallops) medium torched and the ikura. some dishes we keep coming back for are definitely the anticucho Peruvian skewers, Nikkei oysters, Ají de gallina mac and cheese, hamachi tiradito, and the Churrasco bone-in ribeye. they have limited vegetarian options as well. the atmosphere is chic, friendly, and warm, while the music is awesome and on point with the vibe. the entire staff is super welcoming and service is amazing, from the host and the servers, bartenders, chefs, sushi chefs, security, and the manager as well. they all bring a certain attention to detail, humor, and delight to every dining experience! Shout out to the team--specifically Dolly, Jamir, Camila, Holly, Fae, Adrianna, JASON, Joseph, and Zeenis. try their rooftop as well, although the menu has slightly different offerings. we personally prefer the downstairs bar by far, but you really can't go wrong here!

I came in for the $75 per person restaurant week menu. First course: Hamachi Tiradito - good but not crazy. Miso Black Cod- great depth of flavor, moist, and delicious Second course: Nikkei Tataki Sashimi (4pc) - I only like one of the fish Nikkei Nigiri Sakana Set (3pc) - all three of these tastes very different from each other. I liked the Smokey flavor of the salmon the most. Third course: Braised Short Ribs- tender, but gets boring since the pieces are decently big. I would have preferred the cod over this. Aji-Miso Salmon- the salmon was good but not as good at the cod. The risotto was overcooked. Off the regular menu: The plastic protecting the seaweed was hard to remove from the Ebiten Handroll. It. Was really good. The shrimp tempura offered a great variance in the texture.

Very friendly service, has seats on friday nights, but food portions are small for the price. Compared to the rooftop bar, the price is higher downstairs and portions felt exactly the same. There are also more choices for appetizers and small bites upstairs. My favorite was the scallop mentaiko pasta, portion was decently large and they gave us four large scallops. Dungeness crab was disappointing, not a lot of crab, and tastes like vegetable bean soup. Miso Black Cod was delicious, but also small portioned for the price. Ambiance is lovely though, would recommend if you're looking to impress a date.

THE BIG: Located in the neighborhood closest to Oracle Park. Japanese and Peruvian fusion dishes. I didn't realize Kaiyo was a rooftop and a restaurant vibe. Street parking available. THE BLACK AND WHITE: I came here for dinner while I was staying in SF and this was right next to the hotel I was staying at. Getting seated wasn't bad as there was ample space at the bar. For food, I got the lima roll, pulpo parrillero, and lomo saltado. The beef tenderloin seemed like a stir fried beef which was alright. The favorite was definitely the pulpo because that was a big chunk of octopus. The lima roll was good, but that's about all I have to say for it. Service was great and attentive! THE FINAL BAMBOO: Overall for the three dishes, it was around $95. The fusion is unique, however food-wise, it was a miss for me.

Stopped by on a Saturday for an early dinner. Made a last minute reservation, showed up early, and we were seated right away. Our waiter was nice and friendly and asked us if we were celebrating anything. When we mentioned that we were celebrating an anniversary he kindly offered complimentary champagne. The restaurant itself was colorful and vibrant with Peruvian and Japanese inspired decor. We ordered a variety of dishes to share. The shishito peppers were tasty and we somehow ended up with several super spicy ones. It's all good though, we know the risk. The miso black cod was warm, comforting, and a well balanced dish. The vegan scallops were a little tough when it came to the texture and didn't quite mimic an actual scallop but the flavors were great. The eggplant was tasty but some pieces were a bit underdone. The Nikkei nigiri set was fun to try out all of different combinations of fusion flavors. My favorite was the Lomo Wagyu. The only downside was they were out of one of the dishes that we were interested in trying (Lentil Tacu-Tacu roll) and a cocktail (Coco Rashi) which I found a bit strange since it was a Saturday and we were one of the first tables to be seated.

Second time here. First time in the restaurant. I'm too wimpy about the cold to go to the rooftop tonight. The rolls are amazing. The service is always excellent and attentive. The vibe is great. Everyone is having a nice time here. I cant wait for an excuse to return!

We loved it!! This restaurant features Japanese Peruvian fusion cuisine. We had also just came back from Peru so this dinner felt nostalgic :') We came in on a Saturday night with a reservation and it was packed. Modern and chic setting. We ordered an assortment of warm and cold shareables. My recommendations!: Lentil Tacu-Tacu Roll- nothing what you expect in all the best ways. It's got an assortment of well cooked veggies and rice on a crunch cabbage crisp with a nice sauce. Yucca Fries- super crispy, nicely seasoned Hamachi Tiradito- very aromatic, sauces paired well with the yellowtail We're still talking about this dinner even days later, it was that good.

3.5 The indoor space is fine, nothing to write home about, especially compared to the rooftop. Service was attentive and efficient, no complaints there. We were hoping to try the scallop udon, but it wasn't available. Our server suggested the matcha fettuccine instead--it was interesting, though definitely needed more salt to bring out the flavors. The clear standout of the night was the miso black cod: incredibly flavorful, buttery, and perfectly tender. Easily the best dish we ordered. The Pac Heights roll, however, was disappointing. At $30, it didn't feel worth the price--the uni had an odd consistency and off color, and the soy wrap instead of seaweed threw me off. If it had been closer to $20, I'd have been much happier with it. Overall, some dishes hit while others missed. The cod alone might be worth coming back for, but the rest of the menu left me wanting more for the price.

We came here for a friends birthday and it was a perfect place to celebrate with a perfect fusion of Japanese and Peruvian food! My favorite starter was the miso butter corn! Perfect for sharing for the table. A crowd favorite was the normal Salado, which was very flavorful, but a little too salty for my liking. We tried the guava crème brûlée for dessert, and I loved the subtle taste of guava in a traditional crème brûlée. Service was wonderful and the ambience was very cool and chill with low playing music and the Giants game on the big screen This is really close to Oracle Park so a great spot to grab dinner before after a Giants game . There's a rooftop bar that was also very cool to check out

We came here for a celebration and we were really looking forward to it, but honestly it wasn't the best experience. The ambiance is very aesthetic and nicely designed, but the service and food missed the mark. The food wasn't terrible, but not amazing by any means. I did like the Lima Roll though. The smoky flavor from the torching elevated the flavors. I recommend trying that! We were seated by the bar next to a glass wall, which had a nice view but it was so loud and chaotic. It was hard to have a conversation and tough to get to the bathroom with all the people crowding around the bar and lounge areas. Overall it just wasn't a relaxing or enjoyable rooftop dinner. For the price point I expected way more from both the service and the food.

First of all, the ambiance and decoration are phenomenal! Great job! It is a mixed between Peruvian and Japanese. This is a perfect place for some drinks and fancy pictures on instagram. However, if you are looking for a foodie experience.. the plates are : meh...the plates look nice! But are far from Peruvian flavor nor good fresh good Japanese. I know what you are thinking "probably she just tried once" actually no. I have to say that the mocktails are great tho very nice but very expensive 18 box for a non alcoholic drink *uncomfortable silence*. The Ceviche flavor was definitely no fresh I don't know if it was the happy hour effect on the fish but ewww no no no. Lima sushi was good and yellowtail alright. Summary: Go for drinks and get nachos. The view and decoration are awesome just eat somewhere else. Service at the Rooftop was awesome. First floor nah.

Had a great experience at kaiyo today! My friends and I were able to sit at the bar with no wait, and the bartender was really friendly! Great conversationalist and tried out some drinks For the food, the scallop mentaiko udon was really tasty! Not too heavy but the scallops they gave were very tender and soft, and large too! Would recommend ordering this item! Crab dish was a bit small but it had the right flavor notes. Miso black cod is always a good safe option, would also recommend! Lots of umami flavor The sides were surprisingly great additions, especially the crispy brussel sprouts. They are on the saltier side but the crunch makes it absolutely worth it! The ambiance of the place is definitely worth taking a special someone out, with dim lights and great food. If you go to the rooftop bar, the views of SF are also pretty!

We decided to order à la carte so we could choose all of our favorites. Overall, everything was absolutely delicious, and the ingredients were incredibly fresh. The price is expensive though and the service was quite slow as the restaurant got very busy. My favorite dish was their signature Gran Bandeja Cebichera, a chilled seafood platter featuring ceviche, crab topped with purple sweet potato purée, charcoal-seared nigiri, sashimi, octopus, and jumbo prawns. Every bite was fresh and vibrant, and the variety of sauces created a wonderful balance of bright citrus, natural sweetness, and umami. It was layered, refreshing, and full of flavor. Among the hot dishes, I especially loved the whole charcoal-grilled cauliflower, served with eggplant purée, crispy garlic chips, and a sweet pepper sauce. It had a beautifully charred exterior while remaining tender inside, with an amazing smoky aroma. If you enjoy cocktails, their Pisco Sour is a must-try. As Peru's most iconic cocktail, it strikes a perfect balance between sweet and tart, making it crisp, and refreshing.

There is a nice selection off the main menu for Happy Hour 4-6pm. Providing an opportunity to sample one or more of the menu items as an appetizer. I chose the mussels with garlic bread, as good ones are not found easily. The portion was quite ample, and the sauce I dipped my nice crunchy garlic bread in was very flavorful, warm and delicious. I also tried the plantains which were cooked perfectly; not too mushy with a perfect char, and the sweet onions on top were also tasty. Paired with a very tangy dipping sauce. All the flavors came together well. My husband ordered the Cantina burger which he enjoyed down to the last bite. Our daughter also sampled off the smaller menu with Lomo Empanadas and the Chicharron de Pollo which she reported were both very nicely prepared. Will, our server gave us excellent recommendations which we availed ourselves of. The bill for 4 items plus the burger, a side of rice, and a ginger beer came to just under seventy dollars, which was a reasonable price. I would definitely give the food five stars, and the restaurant four as it's a long and lengthy bar with a few tables for two. The majority of the seating is in the back with two flat screens and an open kitchen. I can imagine how loud this place can get. We went at the perfect time: not a lot of customers so we received excellent individualized service from Will. I would hope to be able to return next time we visit GG Park and sample some more menu items like the Peruvian Paella which sounded very promising.

The host at the elevator was friendly and welcoming, and we appreciated how smoothly we were seated. Unfortunately, the rest of our experience was disappointing. We were seated in the far corner of the rooftop with virtually no view, which was the main reason we chose this restaurant in the first place. Our table was uneven and wobbly, and the tabletop itself was covered in a sticky, tacky film--possibly from a recently applied finish. It was uncomfortable enough that I placed a napkin over the table. My water glass also appeared cloudy, with a noticeable white residue. We ordered our first round of drinks, which were good. However, when our server returned, he asked if we planned to order food. We told him we were just going to enjoy drinks, and instead of asking if we'd like another round, he simply walked away. It left us feeling like we were no longer worth serving because we weren't ordering dinner. We decided to pay for our drinks and leave to eat somewhere else. I'm giving two stars: one for the drinks, which were enjoyable, and another for the friendly host and the second server who later checked on us and promptly brought our check. We dine out often, and unfortunately, this is one restaurant we won't be returning to.
