Calamari done in a style I had never had. Along with onions and peppers it was fried perfectly. Not over cooked at all and even though hubby isn't a calamari fan he tried them and went back for more bites even. For appetizers I had their shrimp and grits and again hubby disposes grits but he wasn't thinking and I forked some in his mouth and he was so surprised because he has always had gritty grits. These were so smooth and the fabulous taste from the sauce just cemented how delicious they were. Husband had a nice juicy bacon (piled high) cheeseburger all the way and it is served on a yummy brioche style bun. Buttery and toasted on the grill. Came to town for a BMW driver school experience and stopped here for lunch. The servers were super friendly and attentive, the food was not only super tasty, but shockingly well priced! I've visited Kalahari a few times on my lunch break and enjoyed it! They definitely have a good menu for lunch, my favorite that I've tried has been the pasta. I thought I was the only person who mixed shrimp and spinach in my pasta and was sooo excited to find it here! I was in the area on business and someone recommended going here. Upon walking in there is what looks like a sports bar to the left and a more traditional restaurant on the right. Everyone was extremely friendly from the minute you walked in to when you sat down. The menu is simple but that is a good thing as everything I had on the menu was delicious. I came here over 3 days for lunch and some dinners and was pleasantly surprised each day by their food, the friendly servers and just the whole mood of the place. I had the tuna steak for dinner the 1st dinner I had and it was the best tuna steak I have had in a very long time. I also had the bacon cheeseburger and it was a large portion, the burger was cooked perfectly and the bun was good. The other day I had a grilled chicken salad. Excellent. They have a few beers on tap as well as a full bar. Also I have a garlic allergy and they were very careful to let me know what I could and could not have. I wish they would open one of their restaurants near me in VA as the food was great, prices very reasonable and the staff was so friendly and attentive. I ordered the Kalahari shrimp with the sauce on the side and I ordered the calamari, plus the chicken Parm The menu in the appetizers just says calamari-The advertiser comes with some calamari, plus onions types of peppers. So most of it was onions and peppers. The shrimp with the sauce on the side was good, but somewhat greasy. when the woman from the kitchen brought me the chicken Parm, I pointed out that the calamari had peppers and onions in it and I did not know that, and she said it's on the menu I had menu sitting in front of me so I showed her it is not a true as well we've been serving it like that for nine years that we have been here. Still, not the point when you order calamari and 2/3 of it is onions and peppers you would not be happy.the chicken itself was goid. Th read more

Had dinner here on a Thursday evening and the place was pretty empty, but it was early. Apparently the bar area still allows smoking which baffles me. Our service was good and our server was very knowledgable about the menu and specials. I ordered the Chicken Parm and I must say it was one of the best I have ever had. The marinara sauce is obviously homemade and delicious with a slight sweetness. The chicken was of good size, had a flavorful breading, and was fried perfectly. No salad or bread came with the meal which was a negative to me. A dinner salad is an extra $2.99 and there is no mention of bread on the menu whatsoever. I'm not sure how the smoke from the bar would be kept out of the restaurant during busy times even with the door separating the spaces. This might keep me from returning. read more

Amazing service and amazing food. Went to watch the Auburn and Clemson game. Bartender gladly setup the station for me which is always a plus. I had a order of lemon pepper wings cooked to perfection. Not too much seasoning and hot. After a few drinks a local suggested a meal. I'm not sure of the name of it but it was one of the best things I have ever put in my mouth. Shrimp on a bed of squash cover with some type of butter with a side of vegetables and rice. Well we picked this place cause of the good reviews. Welllll it was ordinary to say the least. The appetizer shrimp and Caesar was good. Boy had carabean jerk chicken or something like that and I had catfish. We were here for lunch so got lunch portions. That's ok. Boy said his sauce was spicey but no bite like carabean should be. My catfish had a great Panco crust but the fish itself was bland. Now dont get me wrong it WAS a nice size filet and the crust was perfect but the fish inside had no flavor!! I salted the crust but it didn't make the fish inside taste any different. The tarter sort of helped. I asked the waitress sooo is the fish seasoned? ( thinking it maybe but my taste buds are off this day ya know). The answer was," Well I dont know I just bring out what u order" Really??!!?? " We never had anyone complain about our food. Everyone loves it". Okay just asking a question converts into complaining I'm thinking???? My brain went into a brain fart. This was my first experience with the Kalahari Ocean Grill, but will not be my last! The food was ordered for delivery. It arrived still hot, and was delicious. The salmon was excellent, served with snap peas (in pod), and the peas were not overcooked as has been the case in some restaurants. These were very crisp, and delicious. We also tried their chicken tenders, and a side order of potato skins. Each item was excellent. Delivery was via Bitesquad, and their service was excellent also. All in all, I am very pleased with the Kalahari Ocean Grill meals we ordered, and will be trying other items from their menu in the near future. read more

Stopped in the first time based on a recommendation from a co-worker and stopped for the second time today. Looks can be deceiving but you'll do yourself a favor if you go on in! I had the same dish on both visits, grilled tuna (rare) and double veggies. I would have posted a picture but I ate it too fast. This place is FANTASTIC! I'm a truck driver. My truck was towed to the repair shop down the road. I read the Google reviews and figured I'd give it a fair shot. I'm so glad I did. This is a family owned and operated business (however, a non-family member came in during dinner to help with the kitchen and another was working the bar). The husband and wife were there during my entire stay. I had the hamburger steak for lunch and then went to the adjoining bar and shot pool, played music on the jukebox and had drinks until dinner time. For dinner I ate the Kalahari shrimp and wings. The matriarch of the the business recommended a mix of teriyaki and habanero sauce for the wings, and she was spot-on. *disclaimer* I like spicy foods, and it definitely had a kick. Very, very delicious... She also told me that all of the sauces were made in-house. I also had sweet tea, and it was perfectly sweetened. This place is quaint, but the staff was exceptionally friendly and attentive. I really can't say enough good things about it. If I lived locally, I would frequent here at least once a week. It is very trucker friendly too. The Quik Trip truck stop is only a 5-7 minute walk from here. Ten stars and four thumbs up! read more

Kalahari is an unassuming little restaurant in a strip on Hwy 101 South East of Hwy 85. I say that because if you use the address in your GPS you may end up on the opposite side of town. For a small restaurant it has a wonderful variety of food from burgers to grilled fish. All the food was fresh and delicious. Both my wife and I had their Ahi Tuna. She had hers medium rare and mine was medium. It came with two sides and we ordered a dinner salad with it. The food was wonderful, a great flavorful dinner and generous portions. One friend had Tilapia and was very pleased at how flavorful it was. Our other friend had their barbecue chicken and said it was very good. The service was very good. Our server was friendly and attentive. I'd mention the ambiance, but there is none. It could use some freshening up. But, the food made the place worth stopping at. Stopped here on our way from GA to NC the day before thanksgiving and had a delicious meal and WONDERFUL service. Bartender was so friendly and sweet. Delicious soup, calamari, and Cesar salad & shrimp. There was one lady who worked there who came around when the apps came out, and was rude to the bartender...which was so uncalled for.
