Everything was seasoned perfectly, cooked fresh, and tasted like it came straight from the coast--probably because the decor had me wondering if I accidentally drove to Florida. Our server was so nice I started wondering if they were trained in hospitality and emotional support. Fast, friendly, and made us feel like welcomed. And the prices? Went here with some friends, their choice. I found the place to be on the dirty side, salt and pepper shakers were greasy and they have pitchers of sweet and unsweet tea that they leave on all the tables, that just kinda grossed me out. Our waitress was nice but I think a little overwhelmed with too many tables of big parties and having a hard time that day. My experience at Silver Bay was honestly terrible. The place looked dirty and poorly maintained, and several areas seemed like they hadn't been properly cleaned in a long time. The tables were sticky, the floors looked grimy, and the overall environment just felt unsanitary. The service was also extremely disappointing. The staff seemed uninterested and took forever to bring our food, even though the restaurant wasn't very busy. When we finally got our order, the food was cold, messy, and tasted awful. Some of it seemed like it had been sitting out for a while, and the presentation was honestly disgusting. the combination of the dirty environment, terrible service, and nasty food made the experience really unpleasant. Horrible customer service do not come here - I'm writing this because I was extremely disappointed with my experience. From the moment I interacted with the staff, I felt like I was being treated disrespectfully. The staff seemed to have an attitude and came across as irritated, even though I was simply trying to order and enjoy my food. I understand that employees can have stressful days, but that should not be taken out on customers. The customer service honestly made the entire experience uncomfortable. Instead of feeling welcomed, I felt like my presence was an inconvenience. The way some of the staff spoke and acted was unnecessary and came across as rude and disrespectful. Even basic interactions felt like there was an attitude behind them, which really affected my overall experience. Unfortunately, the food was also disappointing. The food was extremely salty and did not taste like it had been prepared properly. The amount of salt made it difficult to actually enjoy the meal, and considering the price of food nowadays, I expect better quality. I was expecting the food to be enjoyable, but instead I left feeling like I had wasted my money. What made the experience worse was that both the food and the customer service were disappointing at the same time. If the food had been the only issue, I could have overlooked it, and if the staff had been the only issue, I could have still enjoyed my meal. But having both happen during the same visit made the experience especially frustrating. I hope management takes this complaint seriously and actually addresses these issues with the staff and kitchen. Customers should be treated with basic respect, and the food should be prepared with enough care to meet reasonable quality standards. Silver Bay is one of our family favorites. If you are looking for fresh-tasting seafood in a pleasant environment, at a very reasonable price, you'll want to try them. The restaurant is quite large, and beautifully appointed with coastal decor and lovely aquariums. Prices are very reasonable with quite a few 'specials' that are under $10!! We find the service to be consistently excellent. The first thing that happens is a big bowl of hushpuppies which are hot and crispy. We prefer the fried seafood selections. My husband typically gets the popcorn shrimp which is lightly breaded and tastes fresh and buttery. I order something different every time I go, and I've never been disappointed! Today I had the broiled grouper, which was phenomenal! It was lightly seasoned, cooked to perfection, and buttery without being greasy! Yummers! We have some family members that do not eat seafood, and they also love Silver Bay, as their non-seafood selections are quite tasty as well. We typically leave with a to-go box and the next night's dinner, as portions are plentiful, but if you have room, they also offer an array of bakery goods. Stopped in while traveling through town for a quick lunch. Was quickly greeted and seated by the staff. My waitress took the time to talk me through the specials and her recommendations as it was my first time there. Free hush puppies were a plus. Order the Buffalo shrimp app and it was solid. Had blackened snapper with fried okra and a house salad for my main. The place would have gotten 5 stars from me had the snapper not had skin on one side and was actually blackened. Been here twice for takeout with rude and rushed service. This time I asked several times if my sauces were in the bag and when I get home I was missing extra ranch that I paid for, no tartar sauce or cocktail sauce at all, no straws for the drinks and no napkins, they forgot my salads and I had to go back in for that after I made it out to the car. When my husband called the store to see if he could run back up to the store for the sauce, the lady on the phone told him "I don't know what you want me to do, you can come get the sauces." Terrible service. I asked two people if the plates had the sauces included and they assured me they were in there. So I paid $34 to be irritated and eat a dry meal. The fried shrimp plate was very good. Fried crispy, excellent taste. The baked potato was very good. Coleslaw was tasty & fresh! Hubby's sirloin steak was extremely good and very tender it melted in your mouth! The baby shrimp were delicious also... We will be back! read more

A friendly greeting, and we were seated quickly. Our waitress came over and indicated that she was news to please bear with her which we did. They brought us over a bowl of hush puppies with our drinks, and they were absolutely delicious. Be careful of these things because they're so good you'll eat too many and you won't eat your dinner. we had the fried shrimp and the other meal was the salmon salad and both were very good. Yelp helped me decide on the Silver Bay Seafood Restaurant. I was very impressed with their large menu and the many options they offered. Upon arriving I was also super impressed that they were able to seat a large party of 15 with in minutes of walking in. The staff is very friendly and the server was very attentive to our party. Before everyone arrived to the table she provided pitchers of sweet tea and water and hush puppies. She was very helpful in splitting checks and trying to keep us all organized. Another nice thing is they provided potato wedges and ranch dipping sauce complimentary for large parties of 8 or more. I ordered the jumbo shrimp plate with the potato wedges as my side item. I was very happy with my dish. Most of my family was also happy with their selections. One of my aunts did comment that she felt the food could of had some more seasoning to it. Overall I think the Silver Bay Seafood Restaurant is a great choice. It's very large. Nicely decorated and reasonable. I would definitely return. read more

Went here on Friday May12th. Food and service excellent. Had enough to take home and eat two more meals out of it!

Wow! Awful experience and treated like garbage from the owner! I'm under dietary restrictions so I ordered a kids plate of boiled calabash shrimp. But when paying the bill, instead of the 6.99 kids meal they changed it to an adult priced meal of 13.99. Asked the manager to fix it but he got belligerent and said no that food costs where too high for discounts. That I was a large adult so I should pay according. (Fat shaming me) I said well the waitress never said no I couldn't or I would have switch my meal to something better. So the owner said pay the whole bill and never come back to his restaurant. Damn his attitude and I will NEVER spend a single cent there again! read more

Terrible greeting Asked to sit in a particular place and told that restaurants section closed. This was 7:35 pm on a Friday Seated at a table was told there no condiment so someone might get you some Brought cold hush puppies no butter or plates. Server clueless and we had to ask for butter and things twice. This restaurant apparently wants you to come very early so you so no inconvenience their cleaning of tables at 7:30 pm to go home when their hours on their website say they are open till 10pm. The food was good and at least came out hot. The server Clara was nice. Listening to a vacuum cleaner the entire dinner was NOT a great atmosphere. The Establishment on White Horse Road used to be excellent, however, i ordered a to go order of fried scallops and what i received is pathetic, the deluxe seafood plater used to have more scallops upon it, which was a plate of multiple foods, than this order of just scallops, i can only imagine they were boiled first then fried then reheated in a micowave, due to i at first thought it was something imitation, to charge $29.00 for something this pathetic and almost inedible is crazy Hush puppies though are still excellent, i will never visit your establishment again read more

This is one of the best seafood restaurants that I have ever been to. I wish thaat it was closer to my home and we would frequent this place. The service was extremely excellent and so was the food, The server was very helpful and caring. My kids are picky eaters and they even ate their food here. Our server even helped remind them that they should eat before the food became cold and offered sauce to them. She was like a grandma and was very sweet. I wish I could remember her name. The restaurant was immaculate in cleanliness and was nicely decorated. They had a nice wall painting inside as well as live decorative fish in a big tank. Outside they had a little lighthouse on top. While talking to them inside I found out a little history about the place when I asked if they had more locations. It was interesting... the place is also family owned and they catch most of the seafood they prepare themselves from their own boat! I can't wait to go back someday! Horrible management and customer service. I ordered a takeout combo of flounder abd baby shrimp When they brought it out and showed me the plate once peice of flounder was golden and beautiful but the other piece was was not completely breaded and very small. I complained and asked for the strange looking peice be replaced. I thought it was being done so I waited 15 additional minutes. No one told me that they were refusing to correct the problem. I finally asked and they told me a a woman speaking Korean had said she wasnt going to serve me and threw my plate in the trash. I left and vowed never to patronize Silver Bay again. Ive eaten here over 5 times and thats enough for a 5 star review! This restaurant is local to my residence & a pretty good seafood spot for local Berea residents! It is a very busy place on Sundays i found out so usually i do call in my order ahead of time but it is always ready fresh and hot to go and i love that! The perch plate and shrimp and calabash chicken is my favorite plate to get! The tartar sauce is delicious! Thanks for everything! read more

I want to first say, my fried shrimp was delicious! This was definitely an experience. First, we were seated and waited a while before we got waited on. Meanwhile, we were given a complimentary appetizer of fried green tomatoes because the wait staff couldn't figure out which table ordered them. We had handled the appetizer plates and handed them out to our table (6 of us). Just as we were about to put the green tomatoes on our plates a hand comes and grabs them from us!!! They had found the table that ordered them, removed them from our table and gave them to the other table. We didn't have a problem with not having the tomatoes just the fact that they had already sat them on our table and walked away. They had no clue if we had touched the food or what we may have done to it. Not only that, they took the appetizer plates that we had already handled and gave them to the other table! If this had been our actual order and they had already put it on another table, walked away, I would have been livid!! I thought there was a health code about food that had already been delivered and walked away? Next, one of the people, in our party, ordered salad without tomatoes. When waitress delivered the food and called out salad with his dressing, he said mine but I ordered without tomatoes. She removed the tomatoes off the salad WITH HER HANDS!!! . How unsanitary is that? The salads had a lot of water, so much they couldn't eat the bottom of the salad due to it mixing with the dressing. (4 people). We have no intentions of coming back to this restaurant. If they will pull tomatoes off with their bare hands at the table what in the world will they do in the kitchen where we can't see them?? read more

I was eager to try this spot since my wife raves about a recent lunch she had there. I will start with the positives. The parking lot is huge with plenty of parking. We were immediately seated despite it being a Friday evening. The complimentary hush puppies were hands down some of the best I have had. That about does it for positives. Our waitress was Reba. While I wouldn't say she was rude, she wasn't friendly either. Indifferent would be a good word. Menus were kind of tossed on the table, a pitcher of water and sweet tea were as well. Just not a friendly person. I ordered the broiled plate and the crab cake was just a dry salty mass of nasty. It clearly had been sitting under a heat lamp for some time. The broiled flounder was dry and strong tasting in a way fresh flounder should never be. Prior to leaving my wife and daughter use the restroom. While in the restroom they observed several employees in there using their cell phones. Not sure if it was a Union break or if they use that space to Tweet about the bad food they just served customers while hiding from management. One of the employees did tell my wife that they were all checking text messages. Who knows what that's about... My wife apologized multiple times for recommending the place and said that it was nothing like she experienced during her lunch visit. Maybe an off night? We usually enjoy eating here but on our last visit, we were pretty much ignored for about 20 minutes. Once they realized that we hadn't been helped, they slowly came around and gave us a menu. I ordered the boiled shrimp cold but got them hot...not a big problem. On prior visits, service has been prompt and courteous so the lag this time was a surprise. The food is consistently good, not gourmand, but tasty. They start you with a basket of delicious hush puppies, which made up for being ignored for so long. I wish they'd just BAKE their potatoes instead of "steaming" them in an aluminum foil wrap. They'd also save some money! Not a fan of foil wrapping 'taters! We met my oldest niece and her boyfriend for dinner at Silver Bay Seafood on white horse rd. Lauren and I got the AYCE crab legs. Justin ordered crab leg cluster plate. Wayne had shrimp. Lauren and I, being the crab leg queens that we are, ate 3 refills of crab legs. Ordered the 4th refill, only to have an older waitress come tell us the manager/owner said we could not have anymore because we were sharing. First she pointed to Justin and said crab was being shared with him. We told her we wanted to see the manager who was accusing us of sharing. He finally came to the table and said he had me on camera sharing with Wayne. Wayne does NOT eat crab. He kept accusing us of sharing. We were all telling him he was a liar (yes, we got loud), when he suggested Wayne come look at the camera footage. He kept saying we would be embarrassed when we saw what was on camera. Wayne, ever ready to get to the truth, follows him and the manager is still taking his time getting to the camera footage, when what he saw was me reaching to get the melted butter. Wayne pointed that out to him and came back to the table. Manager NEVER apologized but sent our waiter(who was wonderful through all this) to tell us we could have more crab and a dessert if we wanted. Nope, never again! Then another employee comes by and asks what the fuss was about. We tell them and their words " he does that crap every time". That tells me it's listed all you can eat, but he's going to cut you off and accuse you of something you didn't do! So if you want crab legs, don't go to Silver Bay Seafood or they will accuse you of sharing. In fact, if you want seafood, go somewhere else. My husband who is always so calm was ready to thump him a good one (that's my boy). I just know the money that we have always spent there will be spent somewhere else. read more

Despite hating Silver Bay, I reluctantly came for a family lunch last Sunday and had a surprisingly good meal. I ordered the steak, popcorn shrimp and a baked potato. The steak was nice and juicy and the popcorn shrimp was a crunchy and savory treat. There was a little brat banging his silverware on the table for a significant portion of our meal, which was very annoying, and management did not address the issue. Finally, a fellow diner here went over and put a stop to it. Her services did not go unappreciated. This is the first visit to Silver Bay that did not leave me violently ill, so for that I thank you. My husband and I eat here often. The food is really good and the servers are polite and friendly. I ordered a fish sandwich for the first time and it was great. It came on a big bun and served with coleslaw and to my surprise a few onion rings. I ordered the potato wedges to go with my sandwich. The selection is very good on the menu and prices are good. This place is always busy on Sunday when we go but we don't have to wait to long to get seated with just the two of us. The server brings an order of potato wedges and hush puppies when get seated.
