It really depends on what you're looking for. It's definitely great for when you wanna watch a sporting event and want some tasty food. The service was great!! I personally don't drink but saw they have a good amount of alcohol options. It has more of a bar/cantina feel rather than a restaurant. This place is SO LOUD. My group was there for 1.5 hours, and their music/ video playlist repeated while we were there-- we heard the same songs at least twice. The decor is also... very loud. The food is greasy. The happy hour drinks are not strong-- just pay $2 more for the slushies. Those are nice and big, they taste good, they're just really sugary. Came here on a Thursday to celebrate a birthday. The vibe was pretty laid back but still fun for a Thursday. They were able to accommodate our requests for a birthday sign with sparklers and some shots almost like as if you're at a nightclub. I've been to this location many times before and their other locations around LA and this one is probably my favorite one. The service is fast, the food is great. I have ordered their taquitos, enchiladas and tacos and they're all very tasty. I also order a flight of margaritas sometimes and they're very good with just the perfect amount of alcohol. I went Friday 1/13/2023 for the grand opening! The entertainment, the vibe and all the staff was amazing. The bartenders were very attentive even tho they were slammed. I seriously never leave reviews but whoever was closing last Thursday was beyond rude. We got there at like 9:30 mind you, on Google and yelp it says they close at 11. We walk in The girl said we had 2 minutes to order food and drinks I said what? We have to order everything in 2 minutes? And then she responded now it's 1 minute. So we said nvm we'll just go somewhere else. It's not what you say it's how you say it. I get you wanna go home early but according to your hours posted everywhere online you're still open for over another hour. And the place looked dead there was like 1 table busy. I can see why ... Beyond rude. Will never go again and I've been there multiple times since I live in the area. Go literally anywhere else in the area I'm sure they'll have way better service. read more

Kalaveras has the best margaritas and micheladas. I always get the tamarind micheladas and they never disappoint. I frequent this location relatively often and the food is always on point. My top faves are the pasta a la diabla, aguachiles, and fish tacos. Service can be hit or miss depending on who you have, but Adrian is the best server we've had there. He's super attentive and efficient. I'm not sure if you can actually ask who to be sat with, but you should request him if possible. read more

We love Kalaveras so when a location opened up so close to us we were really excited! We went to celebrate a birthday and unfortunately the experience was underwhelming. Firstly the service felt off. Yes the staff was attentive to our table but I felt like we were being rushed. Our group didn't arrive all at the same time and the waiter kept trying to start our order no matter how many times we said we would wait to order food until our party was fully present. There wasn't a wait for our table so I don't understand the push to start ordering. It also felt very pushy in the sense that they really try to sell items on you; specifically the fancy shot flights; which our server asked if we wanted at least 5 times. We ordered a pitcher of margaritas as we do at their other locations. When we tried to order another the server informed us that they actually don't allow the purchase of pitchers on the weekends; which we found odd because there was no note anywhere of that on their menu. We called on the manager to inquire why something on their menu would have restrictions not known to the customer beforehand and the man they sent had a poor explanation as well as having the attitude that the restaurant did us a favor by letting us keep the first one and even said "You're welcome". It came off as condescending especially when he said that the reason they don't have the weekend pitcher tule on the menu is because they don't want their customers to have to read a bunch of rules. That doesn't make sense to me but it didn't seem we would come to an agreement so we dropped it. While we were still eating the staff would walk by and ask if they could take our plates or bring us to go boxes...WHILE WE WERE EATING. It was uncomfortable to feel like we were being ushered out the whole time. As far as food and drinks everything was just ok. The margaritas were good in alcohol to mixer ratio however the purée they use has a weird texture; giving the impression of a watered down smoothie. The Jarito Loko was delicious though and a 10/10 recommendation. I ordered aguachiles that were fine, spicy but not enough cucumber or onion. The dragon roll was a big hit and the burrito mojado as well. The lomo saltado was atrocious; the flavor of the meat was acidic and not in a good way and the meat itself felt old. The restaurant itself is really nice and spacious. They have A LOT of seating and a big number of staff. The music is great besides being a tad bit loud for conversation but it does create a very hype ambiance. Overall I think I'll make the longer drive to their other locations rather than visit this one again seeing as the only thing that was truly pleasant were the select items we ordered. read more

My friends and I came here for a birthday brunch. Server was very friendly and high energy. It's was 5 of us, we all ordered bottomless mimosas($30 each). In the 2 hours that we were there I think the server only gave us 5/6 refills of the bottomless mimosas, if they did not have enough tor refill all of our drinks the server would just not come back to get the last person. We noticed that the server was going to every other group except ours, which we didn't understand because we weren't being loud or rowdy? We even observed the server pouring a tables bottomless mimosas 3 times (back to back, they would chug, refill, repeat). It would be 15 minutes until they would refill our drinks, where I physically had to get up and grab another waiter to ask if someone can serve us. When the time was up for mimosa they stopped serving us 15 minutes before cut off time, we had even requested to be served once more and they completely ignored us. It seems like they were serving people who bought shots with better service which is unacceptable since we're all paying customers. Food was mediocre. Will not be returning. Much better brunch spots available. And they need to be better with checking IDs. I wish we could've voided the 18% service fee that was thrown on top. read more

I loveeeee the silverlake location. Made a reservation 3 weeks ago to celebrate my friends birthday. I wasn't aware that there was a grand opening. I requested a high top table for 6. When we arrived we dropped our friend off and went to park in the back. The line was huge JUST TO CHECK IN. We walk over and our friend says they told her 5 minutes. 10 minutes pass so I walk over to ask for an updated. They told me the whole prty needed to be WHICH WE WERE. The GM again tells me my whole prty needs to be present. WHICH WE WERE she points to her watch and tells me "it's 7:45 your reservation was at 7:30" I was very aware of that...BUT WE WERE TOLD THEY WOULD CALL US IN 10 minutes. We were standing out of the way outside because the whole entrance was basically full. They eventually sit us at a 4 top table. There was 6 of us. We were pretty squished and I asked about combining the open table next to us which they told us they were saving for a party of 2. Eventually the server was amazing and helped us secure that second table VIBE: super fun. We were on the patio behind a wall so outside of the "fun" we were excited to experience. FOOD: aguachiles had good flavor but they needed more juice. Taquitos were really good. Esquite was a little soggy tasting. Chips and salsa were good. Lomo saltado plate...meat was flavorful but more like fajitas. It had super soggy sweet potato fries and the rice was not very good. DRINKS: shot display was fun but shots came out in plastic shot glasses. I had The Vela drink. Really yummy. SERVICE: was good! Busser and server were attentive and thorough. My concern is for a grand opening event you want to display your best. The venue was clearly over seated borderline safety/fire hazard. Bathroom and kitchen are in the same hall so it can get dangerous with workers walking around. I heard several party's super upset because seating was sub par. Too many people to one table and or facing a corner. They tried to sit a party of 16 at a 12 top table. That party was very upset waited a while and the GM said she would send them a round of shots. I wish the night would have started off smooth but it was just very disorganized. Maybe they can find a better system for checking they're parties in and communicating when it's their time.
