I'm honestly confused about all the good reviews and awards. As several others have noted here over the years, the food was sub par as far as good vegan restaurants go. The cauliflower was soggy from the sauce. I've never experienced a restaurant having that issue with their deep fried cauliflower before. They clearly need another recipe. I got the three taco plate and the avocado again didn't even seem fried. It was just like warm avocado. And not enough flavor. Seitan was also under seasoned. The jackfruit was too soggy. Jackfruit needs to be dried out and cooked better to replicate meat, and it just wasn't. Overall the tacos didn't have enough flavor, sauces, or seasoning. Disappointing considering the reviews and the awards. I would have even accepted decent bar food, but this was sub par for sure. I hope they can change some things and make it better. All around great brunch. I try to go by whenever I am in Chicago. Fried Cauliflower and waffles would be my go to.

Located on the north side, I came here to celebrate my 30th birthday with a high tea celebration! It was a great experience. Even though there were a couple of snafus with the reservation, they still accommodated my party and allowed us to do the tea package. The tea was good, and since all the rest of my party are meat eaters, they were still able to enjoy some of the vegan foods. Everyone loved the avocado toast. I even got to meet the owner, who happened to be wearing purple, and he made sure I got a picture with him before we left. The service was a little slow, and we had to remind our waiter that we wanted to add additional food outside of the tea package. Street parking was available, which was great and didn't take long for me to park. The tea package comes with tea, an additional complementary beverage of your choice (alcoholic or non-alcoholic), avocado toast, red roasted pepper hummus, and a sweet Nutella strawberry banana toast. Kevin was amazing. He was attentive, gave great suggestions, and very friendly. We heard about this place through raving reviews and it did not disappoint. The impossible nachos portion size was outrageous but wow! Melted in your mouth with such great flavor. The buffalo tofu wrap with gluten free tortilla was perfect. Great flavor all around. We paired that with the Greek fries. They were a little over cooked but it was my first time having vegan feta and it is better than dairy feta in my opinion. The spice Bloody Mary also very good. Overall, great experience. The only thing I will give a heads up to is the restaurant is a bit hot and muggy. Coming from Colorado, the humidity was tough but even inside it was pretty toasty. read more

kale my name is such a find. I went there a couple weeks ago with a friend and I loved it. I love that these types of restaurants exist outside of the usual neighborhoods. Kale My Name is Albany Park but it could easily exists closer to downtown. It feels like a destination and it doesn't disappoint. My only problem is that I couldn't eat everything on the menu. The place has a great vibe, good music playing and food was super delicious. I got the cauliflower appetizer and I cldn't stop eating them. My got the tumeric soup. It was hot and steaming and full of creamy goodness. He also got the oyster mushroom wrap and it was like a movie Gone in 60 seconds! I got the kale taco salad and my only complaint is that it was too big. I cldn't finish it. But I smashed it for dinner later that evening. we went on a Saturday afternoon but I bet it gets bumpin here at night. It felt like a real vibe and who says vegans can't be fun because I think Kale My Name would prove you wrong every time. read more

I came here for the vegan afternoon tea and recommend it! For $35/person, you get organic hot tea, oat milk, monkfruit sweetener, lemon, avocado toast, ajvar and pita, drink (you can pick between smoothies, mocktails, cocktails, kombucha, lemonades, wine or beer) and tea party chocolate toast. They even give you a small trunk of afternoon tea hats that you can use for free during the experience! You have a limit of 2 hours, and reservations are required. This place has been on my list of vegan restaurants to try for months! I finally made the visit and ordered the Italian seitan wrap with fries and a side of chipotle sauce (not pictured). It was fulfilling! I recommend adding the chipotle sauce onto the wrap for a flavor taste. The sauce with the fries were good a well. Nice spot to work from home, if possible. read more
