Great vegan food! We split cauliflower wings - we asked for two diff sauces but didn't realize it wasn't going to tossed in the sauces. I think it would have been better if so, maybe bc we asked for two they didn't toss? Not sure. The wings itself were really great. I had the "chicken" sandwich. It was great! I got the garlic kale on the side but it was way too garlicly. My husband got the veggie burger but it was a little soft. Oyster mushroom wrap was great! Would go back esp if you have someone that is vegan or doesn't eat meat! read more

Do you like paying for food you never receive? this is the place for you! So, a little while back I made the mistake of ordering Kale My Name through UberEats. Long story short, there was some sort of issue with the delivery driver and I never received my order. I called that same day and spoke to Kevin who assured me that the order would be cancelled and refunded to me. I also contacted my bank to cancel the payment. However, KEVIN straight-up LIED TO ME and he never contacted UberEats to have the order cancelled on their end. So, fast-forward to about a month later. in an emergency situation I needed to use Uber to get a ride, Guess what? I had to immediately pay them the $57 just to get the ride I so desperately needed. It turns out because Kevin LIED TO ME and did not do what he said he would (and it had to be within 48 hours of the order being placed, according to UberEats) the only choice I had was to pay the $57 for the order I never received in the first place. Thanks for the LIES, KEVIN! And it's a real shame because I have stopped into the restaurant before and I did enjoy the food. But because of Kevin and the lies he told me, I will never, ever go back. read more

A friend of mine said he really liked the food here, so we came by. The interior is very cute and we were greeted and seated right away. My friend said the last time he got the oyster mushroom sandwich and it was too salty but he wanted to try it again without salt. I ordered the lentil soup and cauliflower wings. When he ordered he said "I'll get the oyster mushroom..." and paused a sec looking for the word (English is not his first language). The server asked "wrap?" and he corrected her and said "burger." She repeated it and left. I got my soup, which was good, and shortly after I I finished, the cauliflower wings arrived. His food did not arrive until mine was nearly finished. When it finally did, it was the oyster mushroom wrap. We flagged down the server and thought she would take it back and they would pop it on to some bread and call it a day. It does appear they remade it from scratch, which was nice, but it took 10 or 15 minutes before it got there. I had long since finished. He thought it was OK. The wings were tasty, but I think they may have been overcooked as they fell apart when you tried to pick them up with a fork. They were also drowning in sauce, so the combo made them pretty mushy. I pulled them out onto my plate to keep them from getting soggier. I would try them again but I would get the sauce on the side. It's a little expensive for what it is (more than Chicago diner or Handlebar, which are both definitely more consistent), but I'd go back since there are a few things I want to try yet. A lot of people seem to like this place so I must be getting the wrong things. Though one could argue that everything on the menu should be the right thing. read more

The menu is expansive, the place is comfortable, and the service is great. But I think I ordered poorly. I ordered their tofu scramble ($19), which ordinarily comes with rosemary potatoes and toast. They were out of potatoes, so they replaced them with black beans. The scramble was poorly seasoned, lacking salt and any sort of real flavour, and the black beans were almost entirely unseasoned. This was a real let-down. Again, maybe I ordered poorly, and this dish really needs a makeover, but the food was really flavourless. read more

My first time trying out plant-based vegan food. There are many food items on menu for you to taste. I ordered the cauliflower wings and waffles (waffles, savory fried cauliflower wings, served with margarine, maple syrup, and buffalo sauce on the side). Mac and cheese balls and lavender limeade. Generous portions of food and the prices are very reasonable. Amazing customer service and the food is not far behind. Exceptional and attentive staff. Nice energy. Nice playlist of music playing. Just in case you want to eat outside. There is a nice size patio in the back where you can eat and enjoy some fresh air. Cozy and relaxing chill place to come and enjoy some good vegan food. The CEO of Kale My Name was presented. He was so down to earth and well grounded. He took time out to go around each table to greet the customer. Maybe I just ordered the wrong thing but I wasn't feeling this place at all. I got the brunch burger, which in retrospect, sounds weird as hell, but I was hungry and thought I might as well try it -- like, they wouldn't have it on the menu if it was bad, right? I should have gone with my intuition; it was weird as hell. Just a straight up hodgepodge. Plus the potatos it came with were greasy and soft and tbh I could tell by the color of them that they weren't going to be good. My friend got the scramble which she also didn't like. The vibe of the space is okay, not really bad, good or coherent. Worst thing of all to me was the prices -- I really didn't like what I ordered so paying a whopping $20 for the dish really stung. We like to say that we are International Vegan Restaurant. That means our food is 100% plant based and Globally Inspired. We have a few American classics like homemade veggie burgers, mac and cheese and of course Nachos. However, we also have plenty of healthy options. Our Kitchen Manager specializes in creating comfort dishes from different cultures by making food that is hearty and flavorful, but still healthy. Veganism led me to eat foods that I never dreamed of trying and I’m discovering something new every day. After successfully performing in the role of Floor Manager for awhile, I knew I could do more. I worked hard, which led me to the rule of General Manager. I was very excited; however, after doing it for a while, I longed to go even further. It seemed there was no advancing in my career after General Manager - Kale, I was wrong. So, I decided to take an even bigger step and make the dream of owning my own vegan restaurant true! The flavor mix was really good and I'm hoping to try more drinks there. The jazz quintet was great as well. We just stayed for the first set which lasted until about 10:15, but really enjoyed the skilled musicianship. Definitely enjoyed my experience a lot and hope to be back!

My guess is that on the weekend you might want to get a reservation. The concept of a Midwest Topography based menu was brilliant and engaging! I loved reading through the full book, there is such richness to the descriptions and Midwestern rootedness! You can also just skim through and find the drink that sounds the best to you if reading isn't your favorite (). My husband got the Cattails drink and I got the Water Lily. His was bursting with tropical juiciness and mine was complex with umami and floral flavors. We both loved our drinks and were sad we couldn't stay longer. We will definitely be back again in the future, and come with hungry tummies for some of the delicious sounding bar snacks! The space is intimate and warm. Great for intimate gatherings, not for big groups. Clean and tidy. Staff were friendly, knowledgeable, professional, and collaborative. We loved it and look forward to our next visit!

I'm never one to write reviews! This is a one time exception. I came in for lunch today 09/27/21 and everything was so good. Kaylee was so sweet her positivity and bubbly attitude changed my whole day around. She was very knowledgeable about the menu and answered all the stupid questions I had. (I had so many sorryyy...lol) I ordered the jackfruit tacos and my boyfriend got some lentil soup and they were both amazing! The lentil soup was seasoned nicely and had a great texture and consistency. The jackfruit was so much better than I thought it would be. I never had jackfruit before and I'm actually fairly new to the vegan world but the jackfruit had that savory taste to it but also had that hint of sweetness. I also liked how the tacos came with beans and chips instead of beans and rice. I don't eat beans but my boyfriend does and he really liked them. It was a little busy when we came in but the service was very good. I was on the edge about coming because of the negative service reviews but I'm so glad we came here for lunch. Definitely ask for Kaylee to be your server, she will not disappoint. People really need to be more kind to small businesses in a time like this. I get it you expect top notch service wherever you go but sometimes when restaurants are understaffed you need to be forgiving and understand that they are trying their absolute hardest. They need to make money too and I'm sure it's not their goal to disappoint or leave you hanging. I was in Chicago in a business trip and then extended with my family. My first time to Kale my name was with my coworkers and a couple of clients. The service, vibe and food really perfect. I enjoyed the food and experience so much that I ended up coming back a second time with my family. Think of the food as being Vegan Comfort Classics: I had the vegan burgers, and my coworkers had the tacos and wraps We started out by sharing some cauliflower wings and empanadas. As someone who is gluten intolerant (and occasionally adopts the vegetarian / vegan lifestyle), Kale My Name blew me away. Great prices, incredible food variety. The portions were perfect if not generous. I could hype this place up forever! I got the cauliflower buffalo wings and jackfruit wrap. Everything tasted out of this world. I will never understand why this restaurant has such great reviews. The Tacos are dry with no flavor. They charge 18.00 for 3 beyond meat chicken tenders when you get a bag of them for 5.99 at any supermarket, even the beyond meat burger costs over 16.00. The owner has also accused others in the business of trying to steal his employees. He stole most of his menu from No Bones Beach Club. read more

Just ordered for pick up from here and wow! The menu is so diverse. I'm Assyrian so I had to try the hummus and the lentil soup. They're both as authentic as it gets! The server seemed to be cold and indifferent and giving minimal service. When I asked for extra plates so we could all share, she gave us small plates and didn't say anything. Another customer was asking multiple times for take out boxes, bigger take out boxes and a bag to carry their leftovers, this showed the lack of quality service was not just no limited to us. That's why I give this place four stars instead of five. I hope the service improves when we return next time.

My dining companions and I tried the cauliflower crunchwrap (a special), Nashville hot "chicken" sandwich, fried avocado tacos, and the bean maduro. One could choose between vegan and dairy cheese. The sandwich and Crunchwrap came with a choice of side: I got the cabbage slaw and my friend got the broccoli. All the items were tasty but portions were relatively small. None of us were particularly hungry at the time we got our food: despite this, we each had the space for ice cream at a different establishment after our meal. Needless to say, there were no leftovers. Visually, the ambiance was fantastic: all the artwork was evidently carefully chosen, and it felt like a less intense biker bar. Yet the music was exceedingly loud, even for a bar, and we were unable to hear each other for the most part during dinner. The lighting was dim to the extent that it was nearly impossible to fully appreciate the aesthetic component to our food. Perhaps lunch is a better time to visit. Overall, I will not come back for dinner, though I am curious about returning for lunch. The food is delicious enough to warrant a second visit.
