We've been coming to Maui once a year for the past 4 years, (From Oahu) and this is our first time ever eating at Kalei's! And BRAH dont let this diner be a a bite you pass on by. Located near Lahaina Safeway and across the main road from Ross you'll find this cozy diner. Ample parking with it being already part of the shopping center. We placed a phone order because it was near by and we were to tired to dine in anywhere. Here's some quick info I learned about this place. -3% credit card charge. No fees for debit or cash payments -Any phone orders over $50 required manual credit card payment over the phone -Dining in, you grab a menu and order at the counter before getting assigned a seat (very beautiful indoor seating with hawaiian art and puakenikeni lei art throughout the walls) -they have daily onolicious specials! Including cheap eats! The night i went they had mochiko chicken plate with rice and corn for only $7! Placing a phone order on a week day took only about 15-20 minutes turnaround time. We were quoted 10-15 but when I arrived I saw they got busy. One girl working the phone orders and in person orders with pick ups. She was very nice and patient with everyone she assisted. At the front counter they have in-store merch (cute items!) And 4 TV screens that tell you how to order and so many pictures of their food! The pictures looked so good the girl ordering infront of me saw them and kept adding on plates based off the pictures shown LOL. We ordered the breaded pork teriyaki, big kahuna plate, side order onion rings, keiki grilled cheese, and keiki cheese burger. Everything was so fresh, crispy, flavorful with each bite. We will definitely come back before we go back home or next year on our next Mauo trip! read more

We were looking for a spot that had good Mac salad, & the dope locals at Local Motion across the street recommended Kaleis. We stopped & got just the Mac salad to add to our Foodland noms. We liked it so much that we went back for dinner the next day to get some plates. For the non-locals, order at the front, then take your number & a seat. Honestly, you can't go wrong with any of the food. I got the loco moco, & it was sooooo good! Def a fav at our table. I also tried the Chicken Katsu Curry... crispy & not greasy, & the curry was yum & the perfect consistency. We'll def be back to try more local dishes when we visit! read more

Arrived as a walk-in customer ready to order takeout of hurricane fries to give family an experience of Maui for $10 & I even added $2 tip but then I received fries with barely hurricane & more like a drizzle -- that's the bad news. The good news was after I asked where is the furikake, the cashier returned from kitchen with the seasoning in a to-go container which was an appropriate remedy for my happy family when I dumped it all over the fries. Went towards Lahaina but the roads to the banyan tree were closed. It's very sad to see all the destruction even after 2 years. We found Kalei's and I decided to revisit my food memories and have Saimin! It was hot and delicious and the broth is delightful! Pieces of char siu and kamaboku floated in the soup with green onions and thick noodles complimenting the dish. For this old haole, out reminded me of Dillingham boulevard saimin back in the day on Oahu. I wish I ate two bowls of it! Staff was super nice. We stopped in here on our last day in Maui. The staff was so friendly and really took time to let us know about their favorite dishes. One thing that annoys me is when people give reviews and try to compare a restaurant to another spot that is in a different class. Set realistic expectations as you get food from a restaurant in a mall where you'll spend less than $80-$100. I can say that we went there with proper expectations and Kaleis surpassed what we expected. Why not 5 stars people? They deserve it, maybe that's why the locals don't really care for tourists, be more kind in your reviews! Look at those pictures, where else will you get food that not only looks great, but tastes great, and with terrific service? Being expensive doesn't make it good! One of my favorite things about Kaleis is that when you're done there are plenty of shops to go browse around in, and all inside of an air conditioned mall. Food was okay, hard to judge because we got it to go. I got chicken katsu, edible, not terrible. The bressels were really good and liked the sauce topping they put. Service was fast, we didn't walk all the way in since we got it to go, but it appeared clean. Probably wouldn't go back again, we are first time visitors to the island and want to try more local authentic to the island foods. read more

The servers are such nice people working here. You can pick a seat and order at the cash register and they give you a number. We had the mochiko chicken with furikake and it was tender & tasty. It was chunks of chicken that tastes like it's been marinated and then fried. Reminded me of Chinese fried chicken that I used to get as a kid from Chinatown. It came with rice & Mac salad with good portions. The place is very clean with lots of seating. Prices are reasonable too. We'll be back. It's in the Safeway shopping center. read more

Came here for lunch. Husband ordered loco moco, he gives it 5 stars. I ordered garlic shrimp. Good flavor, seemed a bit pointless to have it fried in tempura when I still had to peel all of the tempura and shell off to get to the shrimp. Mac salad was yummy. In a place where every restaurant charges as much as they can, it's great to find a place that offers a couple life cost options. Kaleis is an order first, then sit restaurant and they have a set menu and a screen that shows their current specials. When we went they had a $7 dinner that had a crispy chicken and a burger patty with gravy, rice, and corn. For being cheaper than a McDonald's meal, or was fantastic! The servers were attentive, or waters never dried up, and you know, it's Hawaii, of course everyone was cheerful. The place was pretty open and not too loud. Oh, the $13 Ahi sandwich was great and the brussel sprouts were so good, we got an extra one. read more

So yummy!! I was excited to try the smoke meat plate and it was very delicious. The mac salad had a bit more mayo than I usually like, and they were out of Kona pie, but it was a nice place to grab lunch. We were told in the Mall that Kalei's was a new restaurant and was very Hawaiiana. That was a perfect description. You are seated with a menu and you go back to the reception counter and the hostess takes your order and enters your selections into a point of sale system, your bill is printed, you pay and get a sign with a number so they can deliver your food and drink to you. There are lots of tables and very comfortable seating. It's all brand new and well done. The three of us ordered 2 Ono burgers, one order of fries and , a plate of chow fun noodles with fried chicken. The burgers were delicious and so were the fries. The noodles and chicken were done perfectly with a tasty sauce. The menu is all Hawaiian. The staff are awesome as well. We'll be back. Pleased to find a new place in Lahaina at Cannery Mall. So many great things about this restaurant. - REALLY delicious. I tried a few entrees and all were 5 stars. I had the chili shrimp and it was made to perfection - Huge portions AND reasonably priced - Large variety of food options. I had a hard time choosing an entree - Great service from all staff. They appear to genuinely value the customers - They don't typically do reservations but they still held a table for us - Nice decor. January 15, 2026 and we stopped by for a refreshment and an appetizer. There is a host/hostess station, but I really don't get the point when they told us to go ahead and go look for open seats/seating which we did. The Rum Punch Aloha was thankfully not too sweat and the Mui Bueno Aloha was sweat, and that can easily be contributed to the glass rim. Matt Kennedy does. The tempura battered prawns Aloha were very good. The view was absolutely fantastic and we actually got to see a whale with its calf, spouting and breaching several times!! As a sidenote, it was very disappointing to see so many families on their phones and not watching the whales or even looking out of the ocean scenery, but each their own! I really liked the Teri beef for about half the plate but it was just too fried. A very interesting take on Teri beef by breading it but it was just too much and a little salty. I usually love fried food like katsu or mochiko chicken but was just too fried and salty. I really have to stop by next time im in maui and try something else since ive only heard good things about this place. I dont think this should be a single menu item but maybe a combo which i would've gone for instead. Not sure who could eat the whole plate without feeling sick. Stopped in at Kalei's and tried the Prime Rib Katsu Moco. Absolute win. The prime rib was crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and packed with flavor. Gravy? Rich and savory, tied the whole plate together. The rice was perfectly cooked, the mac salad had great flavor (not bland like some places), and the scrambled eggs were fluffy and just right, not overdone, not runny. Solid comfort food, done right. If you're in the mood for something that hits all the right notes, get this dish, however this is a special so hopefully they have it often. I'll be back. read more

Right when we walked in, we were greeted by the friendly host. The space was clean and roomy, with lots of booths and tables. You order your food at the counter, and they give you a number so they can bring your order. It was two of us, with one other customer waiting at their table. Our food came out in under 10 minutes, and was piping hot. We each ordered the loco moco; it was delicious! The gravy was flavorful and the three patties were just the right size. Great selection and very large servings. Also appreciated the lighter options at very low prices. Chicken and rice options for like $8 can't beat that on the island. Also a saiman that was low price and filling. Came back to try the mac nut pancakes but it's just a pancake with Mac nuts on top and a Chantilly cream you can add. Would make a killer stuffed French toast but I was hoping the Mac nuts would be in the pancake itself and maybe some bananas or some fruit. Still tasted great and the eggs and Portuguese sausage were perfectly cooked as well. All in all I'd say Kaleis is my go to spot for breakfast, lunch or dinner in Maui. read more

Popped in for a quick dinner, and that's exactly what we got! This new spot is bright and has ample seating. Order up and pay at the counter and find your seat after.
