This is the food truck location in Ka'anapali in front of the Hilton and other hotels. Known for their local plates, the guy behind the window suggested the teriyaki steak $25 Definitely good choice and delicious! The steak was juicy and the teriyaki sauce was perfect, not overly salty. I'm all about the sides too and their mac salad was yummy- contained small bits of veggies like red and yellow peppers. One of the simpler looking food trucks at the Honoapiilani Food Truck Park, the surfing lizard mascot shows off their Hawaiian meat plates served with Mac salad and rice. We were able to try any 3 of their meats by ordering the Big Kahuna Trio plate and were able to choose vegetables or macaroni salad to go with the rice on the side. It hit the spot for the meat lover! The mahi mahi was cooked nicely and was my favorite of the meats we tried-- meaty but not dry (I don't like my fish flaky!). MT's favorite was the chicken katsu (breaded and fried) which was sauced up with their own version of tonkatsu sauce. The kalbi ribs were very salty and tasted mostly of soy sauce (pass on this one). The furikake rice has a large amount of salt on it too, so it was overall quite a salty meal. As for the veggies, they seemed partially sautéed and partially steamed (soft but a bit buttery as well). Overall, a big and tasty meal with a good variety, but it was on the saltier side. Service was friendly, and they only take cash. Prices are a bit pricey but comparable to the other food trucks in the area. Parking is in the back gravel lot. There are plenty of picnic tables in the area, and the string lights and crowd of people make it a lively scene at night. :) read more

We absolute LOVED Lahaina Grindz!!! We got this on our first night in Maui just as a quick dinner option so we wouldn't have to worry about reservations, and we can honestly say by the end of the week, the food from Lahaina Grindz was by far our favorite in both taste and value, so much so we cancelled a reservation we had for our last night and went back to Lahaina Grindz instead. The fact we got a 3 meat plate with very generous serving sizes for only $28 each practically blew our mind. We paid WAY more for much less desirable food elsewhere, including highly-rated sit down restaurants. Lahaina Grindz is in the food truck hub near the popular resorts in the area. It's right at the entrance and seems to be partnered with the borracho taco spot. At this truck they have a lot of Hawaiian BBQ options for fish, chicken and meat. I usually like the galbi ribs (short ribs) that are marinaded with a sweet and salty recipe. I highly recommend these for a choice of meat. The coconut shrimp here is outstanding! It's perfectly cooked and the batter has that delicious coconut crunch you're seeking for. The chicken katsu (katzu) is pretty good. We ordered 2 big kahuna plates, one with kalua pork, rib eye, and Korean bbq chicken and kalua pork, ribeye, and Huli huli chicken. Unfortunately, he didn't check it and we received the wrong item (chicken katsu instead of Kalua pork). It was definitely a big portion and helped satisfy my appetite. Hands down the best Mahi Mahi I've ever had. I grew up in FL and went to culinary college. The Mahi is so buttery and perfect. The Poi is perfect and the Mac Salad is solid.
