The kids got their own dishes, while my husband and I shared the calamari and the whole fish. The calamari was on the softer side if we're being euphemistic, and the whole fish was kind of dry. Our server was lovely, which saved this from being a one-star review. As a place to grab a quick bite, Mala is probably fine though there are better options on this island. As a place where you make a reservation weeks in advance to celebrate a milestone, please do yourself a favor and go elsewhere unless you enjoy the sound of flushing toilets and doors opening/ closing during your meal. So much so that us and two other groups including the ones that moved after ordering to our vacated table moved from the regular tables to the ones at the window with a bench on one side. We had fun joking with our replacements about that! So for the most part here it appears to be tourist clientele and not many Filipinos but my wife. I think that these exceptionally high prices for basic dishes and burgers (she asked why would people go to a Filipino restaurant and order a burger) are why not many locals eat here. We started with the chilled beets and whipped burrata, a creatively crafted use of Burrata cheese that really made this chilled beet salad delicious.
