I have been getting food delivered from Kaleyard for several years now, and last night everyone who ate the food got food poisoning! We were all up all night in pain. I tried to call them today and the person that answered could not understand English and said to call back after 4:00 today to speak to a manager. Just delicious!! My friends in Dana Point ordered as take out on a Saturday night and surprisingly the food came piping hot and tasted so fresh! This is how you loose long time customer. They called me to say my credit card was rejected after placing take out order. I used a different card and immediately called my bank about the rejection. After waiting on hold for an hour with bank, I was told nothing wrong with card AND my card was NEVER submitted. During my wait the order arrived WITHOUT portions of order. This created a second delivery and an apology. I think they should have credited back my $10 tip on $40 order or the total. But they think a "sorry" is sufficient. I ordered food to be delivered to my home. The man who answered the phone was polite. We had decided on two items, Moo Shu Pork and the Assorted Appetizers which included 2 pieces each of egg rolls, fried wontons, bacon wrapped shrimp, dumplings and beef skewer. I asked for a recommendation for a third item and was told that Sauteed Three Ingredients would be a good item to try, which I ordered. The price for these three items was $43.00, a little on the high side for Chinese food. Delivery is free when you order $25 worth of food. I thought the food was delicious! It was delivered within the 40 minute time frame that I was quoted and the delivery person was extremely nice! A friend dropped by and I had nothing to offer for snacks or food so I called Kaleyard and had a whole bunch of food delivered. I live close by and it came very quickly, piping hot I might add. This was probably the worst Chinese food I have ever had. The delivery time quoted was 30 minutes. I called after an hour and was told the food was on the way. It finally showed up 1 hour and 15 minutes after I ordered. The food was cold, the dumplings weren't even cooked and the shrimp spring rolls were missing any shrimp that I could tell. I walked into this place and it smelled like a grandma (in the bad way). Nobody greeted us so we seated ourselves. Nobody came to give us our menus so we took them ourselves. I don't know why this place isn't busier. It's almost always empty whenever I go. In my opinion, the food here is better than at any of the other Chinese restaurants in the area. The Singapore Noodles are amazing! Plus, I just found out that they deliver for free - so I'll be using that option from now on. I really wish i could give this restaurant a good review but the atmosphere of this place is dreadful. The first time, the food was good, but the restaurant is awkward. You walk in and the cashier/hostess stand is at the back of the restaurant and at the front is this awkward jewelry display. There's this tacky decor with that Italian pizza guy statue, which is weird considering it's a Chinese food place. But the worst is the server/hostess/cashier lady who looks miserable and treats you like your ruining her day by eating at her restaurant. We were willing to give the place a 2nd chance, because the food is rather good, but the 2nd time was even more depressing due to the same lady treating us like she once again hated we were there. So basically, if you are doing take out, this place is probably okay. But if you actually want to dine in, expect to have that feeling like you just cant wait to get out of there. I have received a number of flyers from this restaurant over the past few years but never had a chance to partake....so I ordered a BUNCH of food. Chicken, steak, shrimp and combo dishes plus wonton soup. I live nearby and the food came piping hot every dish was delicious. The website is a little basic and I think it would benefit from some pictures. The fodd came inBPA free plastic containers so it was way less messy than the traditional cardboard containers. Yummy.
