I really don't understand why this place is not more highly rated! They have a great happy hour with lots of ample seating in the lounge and bar area we got the $5 blackened fish tacos and enjoyed some $6 cocktails before our reservation. Please note happy hour is until 7PM every day. We were celebrating our anniversary and noted that in our reservation and they made us feel extra special! We both got steak with myself getting the filet mignon and he got the New York strip and both of our meals came with a choice of salad and potato which made it super filling! We found the inside of the dining area not too loud with most of the customers being couples or adult families and there was some subtle music in the background as well. We actually found it to be quite romantic. And then for the end they surprised us with a dessert and we got the chocolate lava cake and with a candle to celebrate our special anniversary! Out for a friends Retirement and listen to the music in the bar area, We sat in the dinnig room and could hear the music faintly. We started with the signature shrimp "Nola Shrimp" In a Creamy cajun sauce that was so delicious we needed more bread to soak up the amazing sauce. Our friends ordered the Chopped steak and mashed potatoes. Brought my parents for an early dinner here. The server Danielle was excellent. We sat in the lounge area. Had the earky bird menu. The fish tacos were very salty. They were having special event so happy hour was over a 5:30pm. There was a singer and musician performing and the place was pretty packed. The crowd definitely looked like 70 plus year olds. Great atmosphere and was able to get a seat at the bar. I had great service and the food was delicious. I ended up getting the Del Monaco, which came with the salad and baked potato and they even serve bread upon request. The steak was perfectly cooked and had good flavor. I got a piece of the chocolate mousse pie to go as a portion was so big. I couldn't eat the dessert in House. Soooo disappointed. ! I was planning to order their twin fillet that was on their summer menu on the web. Their filets never disappoint They didn't have it available tonight for some reason , but our waiter suggested the demonic or ribeye on the early menu. I ordered their twin fillet ribeye. It was a 1/16th of an inch thick... just a sliver. It was like what you'd put in a cheese steak. It was also very salty. Why any "high end" steakhouse let this out of their kitchen. Great early dinner at the bar at Raindancer. The first thing you'll notice is that this old school establishment totally understands hospitality and that starts immediately upfront with Greg. Amazingly nice manager and friendly guy that makes everyone feel at home quickly and not in a corporate put in kind of a way . Bar has a great feel to it with a cool outdoor seating area. Started with a very decent sized vodka martini followed by an excellent wedge salad, but the star for me was the Delmonico medium rare, which had an outstanding aged flavor. There's a main dining area and also a couple of private dining areas for larger parties.We sat at the bar for a happy hour. Mostly everything was a hit. Unfortunately, my main course wasn't one of them. Our bartender server was great. Now for the food . My favorite was the cheeseburger and the calamari. Cheeseburger was juicy, made from quality beef with a homemade thousand island dressing. The salmon tacos were also very good.Crispy salmon with slaw and a spicy chipotle mayo. Calamari was fried perfectly. I wasn't a big fan of the Beef Wellington au poivre. All I could really taste was pepper and nothing else.It was lacking depth of flavor. Let me start by saying I used to bed a huge fan of this establishment. I hadn't been since before then pandemic and went on Friday. The place still has a great atmosphere, but the food quality and the quality of service has definitely gone down hill. I ordered the French onion soup as a starter and it was definitely lacking flavor I was hoping that would be the worst part of the meal. We ordered our entree and decided to split the cowboy ribeye and were told we'd be hit with a $12 splitting fee which is ridiculous. Once the steak came it was very lackluster as well and bland. The meat quality wasn't very good and it was dry especially for a medium temp ribeye. I've visited this restaurant several times, and I've consistently had a great experience. The food is always delicious! I personally love their Lobster Bisque. We had the BEST dinning experience with regards to food, service, and ambiance. Our waiter could not have been anymore perfect that night. Dan is funny and tended to us so professionally and with a great personality!! Nicky, gave us special treatment with his wine selection advice. He picked the perfect wine to go with the meal that Dan suggested. So let's get to the food: The calamari was one of the best we've had. Not chewy and perfectly fresh. You can tell with every bite. Our waiter suggested for dinner the filet mignon bone-in with a shareable lobster in scampi sauce. Simply melt in your mouth EVERYTHING. Each bite was delicious and we finished every single spec of food. The cheesecake at the end of our meal was a great touch to a perfect meal. It's sort of a time warp travel like being taken back to the way restaurants and service was back in the 60's. All of which I found to be very pleasing with its cedar shake shingle ceiling, nostalgic looking grand bar area and copper flashing décor around the kitchen. I started off with a glass of Catena, Malbec from Mendoza Argentina, and seeing as how it is a steak house, a center nine-ounce barrel cut filet mignon done with au poivre sauce. The steak came precisely as ordered, Pittsburgh rare, after which I had their crème brulee for dessert. Beloved also had the center nine-ounce barrel cut filet mignon done with au poivre sauce along with a crème brulee for dessert. We came here because Okeechobee steakhouse is closed for renovations. We've been meaning to try coming here and I'm glad we did. When you check in on Yelp, you get a free appetizer with two entrées. We got the jumbo lump crab meat with a mustard sauce. They have a sunset menu which is a fixed price menu from 4-6 are you get to choose a salad, a dinner, and a dessert for $25 (there are no substitutions allowed for this menu, and there are couple of entrée options that have an up charge. They also had bar bites / happy hour specials, which included a burger, potato skins, and I'm not sure what else. We were getting a free appetizer therefore we had to pick from full entrees. My husband got the Delmonico steak and I got the surf and turf. My husbands steak came with a salad, but my surf and turf did not. Our steaks were cooked perfectly and we both got Pittsburg style. Mine had a bit too much char on it for my taste. My husband said his was very good. The button mushroom had something on top of them which I wasn't crazy about. I prefer just plain sautéed mushroom. the lobster tail was a Maine lobster tail. That was also perfect. If you do not want a very heavy char, make sure you specify that upfront. And next time I would opt for no tapping on the sautéed mushrooms. I usually don't have a heavy char because I get a filet mignon that does not have a chat on it. Their happy hour drinks are six dollar wines, and nine dollar martinis. I don't recall the other items. Let's start in a positive note. I loved the atmosphere of the Raindancer. Quiet, dark, with Frank Sinatra style music playing. Candlelight. It's all the makings of a romantic evening. Service: Our server who told us she had decades of experience in serving, was brutally terrible. It took 20 minutes to get our drinks from a bar that was not busy. I received a glass of wine that had "turned", and yet they claimed it was only a couple days old. Our server also said she was new, but yet didn't did not know basic things about the menu. Definitely disappointing for a steakhouse you are going to spend $$$ at. Our food: My dry aged bone in ribeye was over cooked. I would have turned it back in but I was afraid I'd never see it again. First time here. The service was OK. We sat at the bar and did the happy hour and then also I ordered from the main menu. Most of the time tacos are a nice simple, white fish and not a strong fish like salmon. I had to send it back. I couldn't eat it. The smell was too much. Ordered a crabcake instead and we split a salad. The salad was great plenty of dressing. I would never serve a second martini though in the same Glass. That's not a proper Bartender practice. What made the experience even worse was behavior from the staff that I personally found inappropriate and uncomfortable. At certain moments, I felt I was being treated differently from other guests, and the entire interaction left me with the impression of biased or discriminatory attitudes. Regardless of intent, it made the experience incredibly unpleasant. For a restaurant that presents itself as a reputable establishment, I expected far better. Just amazing food. The filet was very tender and melted in my mouth. The baked potato was cooked perfectly. The salads were delicious. Husband had the Caesar and the anchovy on top with shaved Parmesan was the best he ever had. I had house with blue cheese and just as delicious with shaved radishes, black olives and do much more. I'm sorry this is a long story. This place has been around a long time and I really was looking forward to a top tier dining experience. It was mom's 80th birthday and I wanted to make it a special occasion for her. The Raindancer really let me down. Let me first say that out server Rene was amazing. Super friendly and helpful. The restaurant itself exudes old world charm. Wood planked walls, chandeliers, fine china and lustrous furnishings. Since I was the "victim", I will focus on my experience. I ordered the Nola shrimp appetizer, baked stuffed shrimp with mashed potatoes and a side of the sautéd button mushrooms. My seat faced the kitchen door and the "pass thru" where the food comes out. I saw the cook pass a side of mushrooms to a waiter, Alex, not our server, btw and I saw Alex pick a mushroom off the plate and eat it. He actually walked away while still chewing, went to another table, still chewing and took their orders. I was shocked and not entirely sure if my eyes were playing tricks on me or if those were even my mushrooms, but when they were brought to our table I was in utter disbelief. I relayed what I saw to Rene who mentioned it to a few of the waiters and when she shortly returned to our table, she informed me that Alex had admitted what he'd done. I asked for the manager at this point and I was absolutely nauseated by what happened. The manager, Nicky came over with the offending server Alex and of course Alex apologizes and then to add insult to injury has the audacity to try and rationalize his behavior by saying the mushroom he ate was on the side of my plate as if that somehow makes it ok. My mushrooms were comped as well as a piece of birthday cake for my mom, but I'm sorry, that just wasn't enough to make up for a grown man sticking his fingers into my food, eating it and then licking his fingers afterwards. My whole meal should have been comped and Alex should not be allowed near anyones food, ever again. Honestly, if my mom wasn't there and celebrating her birthday I would have walked out and left all the food on the table. The only person who deserved any compensation was Rene who did everything possible to find out which one of those waiters perpetrated this crime.If he does this on the dining floor in front of customers, I can't imagine what he does on the other side of that kitchen door. Restaurant had dry aged going for it, you would think that is a marker of a great steakhouse, but then it falls apart...I ordered the cowboy ribeye. Unfortunately even though the restaurant invested in dry aging, the meat was clearly not prime with amazing marbling, it was more of a choice cut. Next, there was absolutely no sear on the steak. There were a few grill marks, but every great steakhouse has a nice even char. This one was barely scotched. My current favorite (the menu changes periodically) is filet mignon tips au poivre with a baked potato (you can choose how peppery you'd like yours). You have a dessert choice. Last night I met a group of Ladies at Raindancer Steak House to celebrate a Birthday. Having read the " things you should know before you arrive", I was prepared to have a lovely, peaceful and celebratory evening. I called to make certain that I would be dressed appropriately, since smart casual was the ideal. I wore dress and a pair of heels. When I arrived, I was surprised that there wasn't a spot to sit while waiting for my group. A bench outside of the bar would have been nice. So I stood, searching the bar for an empty seat, all the while noticing the super casual attire of 99 percent of the patrons. I know this is Florida, but the lead-up description is a bit exaggerated. I must have been asked 3 times, WHY, I was there. In hindsight, I should have been insulted. We had a reservation for 5 people. Why would I be scrutinized by the staff while waiting? This place didn't seem friendly at all. My husband (who was not there) suggested maybe they thought I was " working" the bar, since I was dressed well. When the members of my party arrived, we sat at the bar chatting for a while, then ultimately chose to sit for our meal. The bartender suggested we stay in the lounge area and eat, so we could listen to the Gentleman singing there. We sat and started to contemplate our order. At the same time a large group of younger men(20's) began trickling into the area where we were seated. Within a few minutes, our table was partially encircled by the group just waiting for their table. We are seated and men are literally hitting (unintentionally)the back of our chairs, and my arm was knocked into several times while ordering. They were on top of us! Sensing everyone's obvious discomfort at the crowd that was literally overtaking us, I got up and walked to the front of the restaurant to ask if someone could " fix " the issue. When I spoke to the two men (who looked very similar to each other) that were seating people, they looked at me and with complete disregard and lack of concern and said" oh they are waiting for their table, guess your issue is solved" No one said " I'm so sorry, can we move you elsewhere, can we buy a round for the table for your inconvenience" I have eaten at the absolute best steakhouses in this Nation. East to West. I have never felt so disrespected by a restaurant. I get it, a group (@10 or so) of young men who drink a lot, eat a lot, get respect over four ladies whose combined wealth would crush all of their salaries. But apparently, since we aren't men...... Our dinner was Meh, Wine offerings were absolutely awful. We were overcharged, our checks were all wrong and we left feeling like we had made a huge mistake going there. Before writing this, I looked up the price of my dinner at other reputable steak houses. Capital Grill is actually half the cost of what we paid last night. I also know Capital Grill would have made an effort to make the customer happy instead of making them feel " less than" I have experienced some weird behavior on the part of restaurants in Florida, this one is definitely up there. I don't know who writes the glowing reviews but apparently, they have no idea that this place is not a top steakhouse. So sad and dinner cost us over 159.00 a person.
