They were inconsistent with their dishes so we switched to Kamal Palace. Best thing we ever did. They just remodeled. The place is really beautiful. I've ordered from this restaurant a couple of times. All the food is great! From their chicken tika masala to the buttered chicken! I love to get myself an order of garlic naan to go with my food. All plates include a good amount of rice to compliment everything you get. Whether its was a delivery or a pickup order my food has always been of good quality. Good Indian and Nepali food by the water at a very reasonable price. Try their Nepali specialties like Momos (dumplings)and Sekuwa (meat kebabs). Family run and very friendly. Service can be slow, but the price and food make up for it. We've even hosted a dinner party here for 20 people and were very satisfied. I experience good customer service from hello at the front door throughout the night. I order the Vegetable Malai. The coconut cream tastes so good by itself, mixing with the vegetables and rice, altogether, even better. I request the spiciest sauce on the side and have the meal at a medium spice level. I find adding a drop or so of the spiciest sauce into the meal for a few bites makes the meal much tastier, more flavorful than just hot. I eat about half my meal before needing to go boxes, a very filling meal worth the price, to me, when it comes to eating out. If you're looking for Vegan options, let whoever is helping you know, because there are about seven options the restaurant can Veganize, if you will. We have been here at least a dozen times. It is perfectly consistent, and outstanding in every way. The ambience is lovely, inviting. There is a wide variety of classic East Indian food, cooked with expert care. I have traveled to New Delhi; this compares favorably with what I ate in India. You will love the plain or flavored rice, tandoori chicken, creamed spinach, butter chicken, goat curry, fresh salad ingredients, rice pudding, samosas, and much much more. Delish! I've been looking for really good Indian food since it's too far to travel to my favorites in Pasadena and Temple City. Well today I found it at Kamal Palace! The Tikka Masala is perfectly tomato flavored, smooth and generously loaded with chicken breast meat. I always order extra sauce which is the star for me and this sauce does not disappoint! I also got the Saag (no paneer) which was amazing! I've had it overly spiced at other places but not here. It was flavorful and tasty. The tandoori chicken was also perfectly seasoned. The keema samosa, garlic naan and chutneys rounded out this wonderful meal. The staff was so hospitable, bringing me iced water as I waited for my phoned in to go order. Welp, this was the last straw for me...... i like to try and give a chance to change my opinion on tastes of food.... This restaurant was a wierd experience for me... the food was very bland.... the restaurant was like a ghost town. We were the only ones eating while next door was partying... (should try next door next time). The platter that i ordered was lamb, chicken and fish.... i wasn't sure what i was eating. Everything tasted the same... no excitement for my taste buds. The mimosas were very dry and had no taste. The tika masala, well..... at least my wife kinda enjoyed it. ... Once again, Kamal Palace did an amazing job with our large group for brunch today. Everybody enjoyed the food and left very full. I also heard so many comments about the new remodel and how beautiful the place is now. The new buffet table is fantastic. The service was great as usual. Ordered via GrubHub. On the corner of 2nd and PCH, getting to the restaurant is a little strange. We ended up parking in the lot in front of the AMC, and there's plenty of signage to guide you to where Kamal Palace actually is. It shares its... open-air basement sub-level floor with Jade Restaurant. It's placed where it is to take advantage of a waterside view; if you're looking for some patio dining with an ocean breeze, look no further. We were looking for an afternoon snack and the momos (dumplings) at Kamal sounded perfect. The food was ready couple minutes after the estimated pickup time and when I went in to stuff a dumpling in my face ASAP, it was too piping hot to even. There was a bit of flower coloration on one of the dumplings which indicated an uneven steam. Other than that, though, SO. GOOD. The inside of the meat had the kind of coloring that pointed to an Indian influence and the taste was pretty standard, but what pulled it all together was the amazing sauce that came with the momos. It was thicker/chunkier than your normal Asian dumpling dipping sauce and with an intense yellow color that made me thinking initially it was going to taste like curry, but nope, it was some kinda refreshing salsa. Went for the lunch buffet. Interior is nice and looks like a high end restaurant with white table clothes. The food was delicious they had about 12 different choices. 2 were chicken and one was lamb the rest were vegetable dishes and so tasty compared to other Indian food buffets. Soda was a bit overpriced $4 for a can of Coke but other than that fantastic with friendly waiters. read more

I have been over 15 years in LB and this is my first time here because when I am craving Indian food I go to Artesia. The employees are for sure ten stars, super nice and welcoming. Buffet has many choices. The food is decent, safe in terms of flavor, not as bold in spices garlic and onions as the same dishes you get in Artesia. It is understandable because of course you need to cater to your audience. Location is cute and price very reasonable. Will I go back? Yes, if I am not able to go to Artesia. I added an extra star because the food for me had a very calming effect. I slept like I haven't in a while. read more

Kamal Palace has been our 'go to' Indian restaurant for more than 15 years. It's nestled in the lower back side of the Marina Pacifica shopping center facing the Marina Pacific condos. In the past, we frequented the buffet which has an outstanding selection of Indian dishes. I have been to many Indian buffets, but none have been as delicious, with so many different selections. The buffet is well maintained and plentiful. Dinner is suited for couples as well as large groups. The service has always been attentive. Water and Chai (Indian Milk Tea) have always been refilled constantly. In the wake of COVID19, we have opted for delivery. Delivery has always been prompt and courteous. I was happy to see our delivery person wearing gloves and a mask. The food arrived so hot we needed oven mitts to remove them from the bag. We were given plenty of mango chutney, tamarind sauce, mint sauce we are so fond of, and a bag of pappadam. On our most recent order we selected: Garlic Naan - fresh and large portion with plenty of garlic. Keema Samosa - incredible flavor of ground meat, maybe lamb. I usually order the vegetable samosa which are spectacular but the keema are my new favorite. The crust is just the right amount of crispy and for being fried there was no excess oil. Chicken Malai - My favorite dish! It's all white meat that is tender and moist, marinated in yogurt, herbs & spices. The coconut cream sauce makes this a decadent dish. I love this dish with medium spice. The naan is needed so no sauce is left behind. Mushroom Masala - I love the texture of mushroom and this dish does not disappoint. It's a medley of mushrooms and vegetables in a homemade cottage cheese and nutty creamy curry. All the dishes are large portions. We always have enough food for 2 people, 2 full meals. The fragrant, long grain basmati rice is plentiful and helps soak up the thick and creamy sauces. read more

Of course, the food is very good. My concern is the young children allowed to go to the buffet without a parent. A sign needs to be posted that children under age 10 must be accompanied by a parent. On May 11, 2024, one child was taking what he wanted out of the Samosa bin with his hands, without using utensils. Another child put his fingers in his mouth, dipped them into the rice pudding bin, then put his fingers in his mouth again. The parents all along, sitting at the table, looking at the children, and not saying a word to them. this type of thing is why buffets were closed down so long during an after Covid. read more
