Mix of various Indian entrees + garlic naan and papad

Good old spicy Indian food...Lamb Rogan Josh, saag/palak paneer (really spicy), malai kofta, Chilli Chicken accompanied by some Garkic naan and potato kulcha (stuffed bread)...with some store bought plain Dahi (Greek yogurt)

Entrance around corner. Though really, you can enter here lol

A few of my co-workers have dined here from time to time, but I hadn't had a chance to due to my schedule. They have raved about how good the Indian food is here, and when an opportunity finally arose, I pounced on it to experience it for myself. Good food? Oh yes indeed! But 5-star good? I'm not quite convinced. Kamal Palace is located on the southern end of the Marina Pacifica Shopping Center on the northwest corner of PCH and 2nd. It's a pretty long shopping center that if you park on the north side, closer to Ralphs, you'd be walking a loooooooooooooong way. It's easier to park on the north side, however, since the parking spots are angled, but on this end, the parking spots are perpendicular, necessitating a significantly smaller turning radius to maneuver your vehicle into a stall without hitting another one. When you exit your vehicle in the lot, it's not quite clear where the restaurant is. You'd have to descend a stairwell and follow the arrows to find your way there. There will be an overhead sign that says "Entrance Around Corner", but we entered through there without any issues. I suppose they prefer customers to enter around the corner instead because the way we came in, we'd already be at the start of the buffet. We were a party of 10, and there was a table of 10 ready for us in the middle of the dining area. There was another table in the corner that could have seated all 10 of us, but it would have been quite a tight squeeze to fit us all in, so I'm glad that table was available when we arrived. In front of each chair were a fork, knife, linen napkin, and a wine glass full of water. Stacks of plates sat at the start of the buffet, close to the door where we entered. There were also extra utensils and glasses by that door, but those aren't to be picked up by customers, though I can see others mistakenly doing so. The buffet ran the length of the restaurant with a variety of selections available for customers. Lunch buffets are AYCE every day from 11 AM to 2:30 PM for $17.95 + tax per person. The first selection is the Mix Vegetable Fritters with Samosa, which almost looked like Lomo Saltado given that both utilize fries in the dishes. The next two are the rice: White Basmati in the rear, and Vegetable Biryani in the front. And then you continue to build your plate until the end when you've reached their desserts, like rice pudding and the raita yogurt. There are plenty of choices of chicken like butter, tandoori, and chili. However, there are also plenty of other options for vegetarians like one of my co-workers who goes here on her lunch breaks from time to time. Although I'm not vegetarian, I've tried some of their vegetarian dishes and can attest to how good they are without the need for meat! From what I tried, I enjoyed the flavor of most everything in the first 2/3 of the buffet. I found the last 1/3 to be quite exotic for my taste buds, and since I wasn't feeling too adventurous that day, I tried only a little bit of the sauces as well as the raita yogurt. They're not bad, but if you didn't grow up eating this kind of food, it'd be hard to enjoy them over a long period of time. While I did enjoy the flavor of their rice, chicken, and vegetarian dishes, it seemed to have evaporated slowly but surely while they were sitting in the heating wells. Luckily, not too much is lost that you can still enjoy everything they have to offer. For reference, we went around noon, but I can't be certain I'd enjoy the food as much if we had gone around 2 PM. For me, I enjoyed the food enough that I was able to snag four plates in a span of 40 minutes. though only the first two were full since I wasn't sure if I'd be full after my third plate. I probably could have gone for a 5th if I really wanted to, but I didn't want to exacerbate my food coma knowing I had a lot of work to do that afternoon. Though the servers didn't interact much with me, I appreciated how they were on top of it such that whenever I went up to get a new plate, there was never a time when I saw my old plate; in other words, they picked up my finished plate before I returned with a new plate. They were also pretty good about keeping everyone's waters full. Even when my glass was more than half full, they were still willing to top it off. It wasn't too busy when we were there; more than half the seats were vacant. So how they'd fare in a full house, I really can't predict. However, I was quite dismayed that we just had the linen napkin as our sole napkin. Mine got so filthy towards the end that it was hard to find a clean spot. Surely, if they have bottles of sanitizer on each table, they should have a napkin dispenser as well, right?! Lastly, there were some hard bones in some of the dishes, so you definitely need to be careful with your bites so as to not chomp on something really hard! Overall, you could probably do better at Little India in Artesia, but this is a decent spot for Indian food nonetheless.

Man oh man... what a hidden GEM! We passed by this place many times but haven't tried it. What a mistake we made. This was by far some of the BEST Indian food we've ever had! My husband who has traveled to India even said this place is legit. Everything tastes flavorful and homemade. The waiters here are absolute sweethearts and reminded me of my grandpa. Also, the portions are HUGE! This place left an impression on us and we will for sure be back!!

Kamal Palace was recommend to me by a friend who frequents the restaurant. It is tricky to find, but you can't beat the marina views from the restaurant. The waiters were happy and friendly. They jokingly offered a Taj Mahal as beverage suggestion right off the bat. We ordered samosas, saag paneer, rara ghoust, chicken tikka masala, and garlic naan. The food was delicious and piping hot. Great flavor and mild spice which was the request. I would go back as a regular just like my friends.

It's been a while since we visited Kamal Palace for its weekend lunch buffet, and we're pleasantly surprised that the interior has been remodeled. The buffet counter is much wider, and it allows the staff to replenish the items much more efficiently. Presentation of the entrees is more aesthetically pleasing too. Best of all, the price has not increased much, despite the rate of inflation that has affected restaurants throughout the nation. For less than $20, you leave satisfied and happy. The garlic naan that came free with the buffet was toasty and crispy. Be careful when you try the lamb curry, which has small shards of bone hidden in the broth.

I've been wanting to try Kamal Palace for the better part of a decade and I finally did! I thought, what could be better than all you can eat Indian with a view of the water? Not really the type of location u would expect for an Indian restaurant but somehow, very Long Beach. Food was good and flavorful. I feared that it wouldn't have much flavor to appeal to a significant portion of locals, but the flavors were bold and delicious. I especially liked their mint chutney sauce and their allo gobi. Employees here are also super friendly, adding to my positive experience. My only complaint is that it's difficult to find the restaurant. It's super confusing because it's on the lower level of this outside complex and once you finally find the entrance, there's a sign at the entrance that states that the entrance is around the corner, but this is the actual entrance you use to get in. But other than that, I really enjoyed my experience and I would definitely go back.

Nice Saturday lunch buffet. The place is difficult to find but worth the search. It is on the water side of the marina not visible from the front. Downstairs. They have s variety of Indian dishes. Butter chicken tandoori chicken, saag, samosas, Naan. Lamb, rice. Also small salad and dessert There is an outdoor patio with a nice view. Directly next door to Jade Restaurant. Highly recommend for an affordable lunch buffet ($18).

Pakoras, shahi paneer, aloo gobi, garlic naan, malai kofta, and lamb curry?

When your non-Indian friend brings you to an Indian restaurant, when you're the Indian, you raise an eyebrow. However! Solid choice friend. This is one of the better Indian restaurants I have been to. Immediately slapped with vibrant aroma that Indian food possesses. The service here was amazing. Very attentive, especially to your beer when you need a refill. There were two beers from India, a light one, and one with a higher percentage that tastes light. It's delicious! The food was authentic, delicious, and I highly recommend! We had the malai kofta, shahi paneer, vegetable pakoras, garlic naan, aloo gobi, and my friend got a lamb dish. Everything was very tasty! We definitely over ordered for two people but hey, leftover Indian food is always bomb. Typically when you get a higher spice level, it just tastes like they put more Kashmiri mirch (chili powder) in it. However, with a higher spice here, other flavors were still able to come through. They do have extra chilies and onions they can bring you on the side as well. Overall, great experience, great food, great service!

First time at an Indian buffet! This might be my second time in my life to go to an Indian restaurant in general. Kamal Palace is hidden below ground and around a corner. My coworkers said that this place remodeled and looks better. Came here for lunch on a weekday. Price is $17.95 which is super cheap considering it's all you can eat. That said, the variety of food is very little. Regardless the food tastes really good. I didn't know any of the dishes name lol. The fresh nan bread was my favorite. The server dropped baskets at each table. Highly recommend trying this place out!

One of the best Indian restaurants in the area. The restaurant was recently remodeled and appears much brighter. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The food is excellent- a blend of Indian and Nepali food. They also have a decent wine and beer selection. The best part is that they are right on the water with great views. I would recommend sitting in the outdoor patio in summer.

Tucked away in the lower level of the Marina Pacifica center, Kamal Palace serves a traditional Indian menu. We went for their lunch buffet, which offers a cold salad/condiment section and a nice variety of both meat based and vegetarian hot dishes. We were served water and a basket of their delicious naan bread; we ordered chai tea and it was served perfectly blended with milk. The long time servers are attentive but low key. I love the tandoori chicken drumsticks and could eat a dozen of them! Their butter chicken is rich and creamy, the lentils and spinach dishes are a bit spicy and complement the rice, chicken and fried samosas and vegetables. The chutney offers a sweet and savory note. For dessert the rice pudding with almonds and cardamom is lightly sweetened and comforting. Lunch Buffet at $17.95 is offered daily. Seating is inside or on the waterfront patio. We will return to enjoy the full dinner menu!

Service is spectacular here, walked in 36 minutes before closing and treated like a king. I had tried a restaurant that shall go unnamed that closed in an hour and half and stood around at the hostess area for 10 minutes waiting for someone to show up to seat me. Even made eye contact with the bartender who didn't seem to care I was standing there waiting. Anyway enough about the bad guys. Kamala Palace is one of the good guys! Immediately addressed me on entering and sat me in one of the nicest booths despite being near closing time. Asked for a beer recommendation and he asked my preferences and then recommended the Old Monk as an Indian beer to try. It is a great beer drinks like a light IPA almost, no pine to it. The booths are nice, table cloth dining without the pretense or the prices. Hand sanitizer at every table saves you a trip to the bathroom after viewing the menu if you're the OCD hand washing type. I went for the Exotic Curry Special the under the Chefs Specials on the very back page of the menu. And of course some Garlic Naan because when in Kamal Palace... This is my second visit and first review here and both times the service stood out to me as well as the food. Really is going to be my go to for Indian!

Delicious and affordable AYCE lunch buffet with freshly made naan. They offer a great selection at a very inexpensive cost. Great service by the docks of the marina. Warm inviting atmosphere. It is a must try to fill your Indian food cravings. Their butter chicken is soft and tender. The goat is delicious!

Little India is usually closed on Mondays so I looked on Yelp, and this was the closest place suggested to the pad. I wasn't disappointed at all. The masala dosa was crispy, the chutneys were fire, and the sambar was hearty. (Today I only came for those, but I'll come another day to try their North Indian food.) Between the great food, the marigold garlands, beautiful mural wallpaper, and the absolutely unreasonable amount of south Asian eye candy --including the handsome bespectacled waiter who looked a little bit like Ranbir IYKYK (I was having trouble ordering, he was so cute,) the cricket hotties in sunglasses on the cricket broadcast, and the absolute smokeshow picking up his order at the counter, I will definitely be back. Good restaurant for everyone, but for South Asians, it's a comforting diaspora space where you actually want to linger for a while instead of just eating and rushing out.
