Prior reviewers must have been at a different shop. After 7 appointments and at least 20 hrs. of labor , including opening every portal in the vehicle(dash to console to gear box to trunk)/fully discharging my battery multiple times( ultimately I had to replace the battery)the replacement BOSE SYSTEM could not be installed and an essentially non-functional cheap radio was placed. Worst Customer Service. Tried to help my mom schedule an appointment with Kamakaze, explained the issues of the car, they gave me a next available time where they could take a look at my mom's car and informed them I'll check my mom's availability and I'll call right back and they said okay. Also, I have to mention during the phone call, they kept questioning the cars issues that my trusted mechanic has informed me to tell them. When I tried calling back, no one answers and it was hard to get ahold of someone but I kept trying to reach them then suddenly an automated voicemail came on saying my number got fully blocked. DO BETTER because you are turning away a lot of potential clients that was referred to you just as I was referred to you and I've heard great things from this company as I was growing up but over time, the customer service has gone down. I mentioned I was comparing prices with Certified Sounds and that's when it went downhill. He is full of attitude. Said to go Certified Sounds. And basically kicked me out. Had to scoot in between his mom who lives in the shop it seems and nephews or kids , has a whole couch and they were watching tv in front of the store, between that and all the boxes he has all stacked and all over the place. I give two stars because the alarm they put in has worked great, until it didn't... I don't think it was their fault, but when I was stranded five minutes away from their shop and could not get into my vehicle, I called and they sent a technician to where I was stranded. The tech was quick and knowledgeable, maybe took five minutes. I really appreciated his help and all I really had was an avocado from my grocery bag to give in gratitude. Now weeks later, the alarm locks me out of my vehicle again and I call them up. Stan remembers me right away, saying service calls like that are $100 and all I gave him was an avocado. If he would've mentioned the fee when I first called, I would've gladly paid him electronically, but never did he nor the tech mention anything about a fee. I just thought it was good customer service since I had spent about $800 on the alarm install. It felt like Stan was trying to make me feel bad for not paying the $100 fee (which does not feel excessive due to the fact I was stranded, but I was never told about it - until now). Stan's abrupt ending of the call also caught me off guard for sure. I've recommended Kamikaze Electronics to others since the install, but unfortunately cannot do so anymore. read more

He told me never to use YouTube to help figure out an issue and they are too busy to schedule an appointment for me and walked away. Very friendly local style store. It is very cluttered in the showroom, but they know their way around their inventory. Prices and installation was very reasonable versus Nissan that would have charged me $1275 for work that Kamikaze did for a little over half the price. They had parts, kits, and accessories on hand, and were able to complete installation the next day. I am enjoying the equipment, and it was great to feel like I avoided getting ripped off. But, I was really satisfied with the quick installation. The employees were very helpful with picking out the right stereo, and they even offered me water while I waited. I've been a customer of Kamikaze Electronics for over 8 years. Was referred here by Rick at NoKaOi Motors when I first moved to Maui and bought a vehicle there. Stan (owner) is the simply the BEST!! He knows the audio and alarm product market better than anyone would imagine. Products available to us here are top of the line! Prices are very reasonable and installation is fast, efficient, and fair. His team of workers are extremely knowledgeable at installations and how to get the most out of the components. After service, adjustments, and ability to work with the customer (like after having been robbed numerous times) is awesome. I love the store!!! The totally messy place that you can barely meander through makes me feel so at home, my place is the SAME. And Stan is soooo cute in his signature short shorts. Overall, I spent about $4000 for a stereo system and alarm. It produced great sound when it worked. First I replaced the factory speakers. But the factory head unit then was not good enough for the speakers, the owner told me. Then I replaced the head unit, and added component speakers. The installer put the tweeters out in the open, drilled into my car doors, instead of the stealth location I had requested for my convertible. But then the owner told me the speakers needed an amp to drive them as the new head unit, a top-of-the-line Kenwood Excelon, required an amp. (I was told this after the nonworking combo installed.) So I added the amp, which was installed in my convertible in a place where it was subject to rain. The installer told me that I should not drive with the top down anyway. When one of the bass speakers failed, I was sold another $350 pair but not given the removed speaker that was still working. And when the other bass speaker failed, I was sold a third "pair" that lasted a couple of months. (BTW, the maker of the speakers had quit selling the model years before, yet Kamikazi had all this "new" product to sell me.) During one of the last installations, the alarm sensor was left out when the dash was closed up, where it still hangs. read more

Not many places to choose from on Maui, so after going here to install a stereo and alarm, prices seemed competitive with the others and they were accommodating, but when going back for some warranty stuff, felt like the owner was giving us the runaround. Although they honored the warranty, the actual thing he said he was going to do was not done! WTF?! When we picked up the car, he told us they couldn't figure out the problem and would be "working on it," but provided no follow up dates or interest. Seems as if we're now on our own, as when I asked about the initial reason we were there, he waved his hand up in the air as if frustrated, then walked away! WTH?! I guess if you need warranty work done, don't ask them something that may stump them, as you may never get your answer! Also, be careful when you walk into the store, as the place is jam packed with stuff, literally from floor to ceiling. A narrow pathway leads to the counter, but if you misstep, make sure you have a helmet on, cause if you fall down, you will definitely JVC your NAKAMICHI! Went here today and drove into the parking lot but could not find the business. There was a couple of small buildings with trash and junk piled everywhere. There was a neon "open" sign in the window along with tons of junk in there too. I wondered if that was the place because lots of the trash and junk were old speaker boxes and audio related things. But, there was old, weathered junk piled in front of and blocking the door, so I didn't think it could possibly be the place! Anyway, this didn't look like an actual business, and if it was, it was the scariest looking business I have ever seen. Been here numerous times over the years. Seems like the owner just piles things up in there. Obviously a hoarder. Walked in and there is barely a path to walk . Could hear two employees watching a YouTube video but received no help. The place is wall to wall 8 ft. High old and new electronics. The show room is completely blocked by it all. After looking around at all the clutter for about ten minutes we left because nobody could be bothered to help us. Not even the employees outside seemed to care that we were there to spend money. Ended up going uptown to tsunami electronics where it actually feels like a business. read more

I really hate giving bad reviews as I know how yelp can affect business BUT save your $ and irritation and skip this place for stereo installations! Boyfriend thought we'd stick with a local, family business and they'd get it right the first time but his choice caused nothing but a headache and big fight between us. They installed the $99 Kenwood stereo we bought all janky in my car, left clips showing and the kit just didn't fit right. We drove away and noticed after we left so we went back and they ended up trying to fix it which ended up okay but for $70 installation fee the job should have been done right the FIRST time... to top it off a day later I'm driving and get the phone speaker wire caught between my foot and brake .... all they had to do was tape it so it wouldn't have the chance to dangle but nope no love there. Do yourself a favor and just skip this place all together not worth the $ or headache! read more

He even recommended a stereo that was cheaper than my initial choice because of my preference so you know he isn't just trying to screw you. The place was a mess but who cares? Kamikazi came recommended to me as THE place to go. My back-up camera and Bluetooth on my Kenwood radio in my F-150 stopped working several months ago. Finally annoyed enough to get it fix I stopped in. The owner came out in a heavy downpour to look at the radio and determined that the radio had reverted back to factory settings after a battery change. He spent about 5 minutes resetting the radio settings and sent us on our way. NO CHARGE. I was expecting to have to purchase another radio or back up camera. These guys are So Ono, and way cool. Not only do they know all about radio electronics but they were extremely kind and helpful. I would highly recommend them to anyone with electronic radio problems. They are now my "go to" car radio guys! read more
