Seriously.** Let me paint you a picture: I drive a 1999 Daihatsu Mira Gino--aka a rolling piece of JDM charm with the acoustic performance of a tin can in a wind tunnel. I thought I could handle upgrading my speakers, slapping on some sound deadening (or is it dampening? Is this car audio or an emotional support group?), and installing an ALPINE CASSETTE DECK. Yeah, you read that right--vintage audio cassette flex. They don't make 'em like that anymore... because they literally don't make them anymore. But then came the reality check: me, crouched in my garage, covered in speaker wire and existential regret, realizing I had no clue what I was doing. Enter **Benson**, a man whose patience, skill, and Jedi-level precision turned my audio disaster into a symphony on wheels. Not only did he fix my screw-ups without judgment (seriously, I think he deserves a medal just for that), but he made custom adjustments to my door panels, like some kind of fiberglass whisperer. Oh--and just for fun, he fixed my tachometer gauge, because apparently he's also a wizard. When I had some time / date stamp issues, the manufacturer didn't hesitate to issue me brand new replacement, and Benson was very quick in install it for me at my home! (Fun fact) my radio has been broken for a year now and I've been listening to complete silence. No music has literally bothered everyone else but me who drives the car all the time ... lol! I finally decided to get it fixed after troubleshooting it with no luck in the past. It was literally running on a continuous update loop and apparently is a problem with rav 4 models. My husband originally went to Best Buy and they said to fix my unit would be close or around $1k since I would need so many parts and a new camera. They suggested someone nearby too but also mentioned that they might not do camera installments. For some reason it just made me price around different places. I did a general yelp inquiry and it sent to multiple businesses. I got several quotes and each person had different rates, times, and units. I informed my husband and he said the quote from mobile audio and security seemed like the best one and the unit itself is probably $400 with navigation features. He also said it is probably better if I did it this way too since I can stay home and not wait around for it somewhere. I ended up going with bensen and response time was always good and professional. He fixed my audio unit in about 2 hours which most of the time I was home in bed since I was a little under the weather anyway so it helped a lot. He gave me a call once it was finished and he was just chatting with my dad while I was working my way downstairs. He also showed me all the features on my new set including the Bluetooth plug and plays and navigation which I didn't have before. For some time, I've been wanting to replace my front only dash cam that I had plugged into one of the USB inputs meaning it only worked when the power was on. I've wanted a front and back combination dash cam that was hardwired so it may also work in 'parking mode' (meaning when the engine was off). One late night, I contacted Benson through Yelp not expecting to receive a response so soon, but within minutes he replied back surprising me ! He said go get the dash cam I wanted and he'd install it. I was thinking if he'd come over to my place as I saw that in the Yelp reviews, but it wouldn't work for me since my condo has no guest parking for his truck, so I mentioned that it wasn't a problem to come over to his shop at 150 Puuhale Road. While I waited for my order to arrive, he forwarded a pic as to show me what driveway to enter. I also checked on Google Street View to see this place which is a top and bottom level parking structure between two buildings. If you try to input 150 Puuhale Road into Google Maps, the picture that pops onto the screen is *not* exactly correct, as it is more makai of the picture in the next building makai of that '210' building. So my appointment for work on my '17 Mazda 3 hatchback was set for 9am today Wednesday, and I drive into the right side driveway where the 'Envision' and 'Hakuyosha Dust Tex' business signs are at the front driveway entry. Then count seven (7) metal vertical support columns as you drive forward as you will then turn a quick left *just before* the white business trailer that is just left of the two way driveway. His shop (though small) houses mainly his office and is just to the left of the two level parking structure --- don't go looking for any type of a stereo shop showroom. I came there about ten minutes early and was met by Benson, who began to start the installation of the dash cams onto my car. He did say there was one car coming in for 'calibration' (I thought for SQ) but after that man was serviced for about ten minutes and then left, he told me it was for those vehicles that would not start if the person is DUI. Ok, back to my install since he was only able to get the items out of the boxes and start working before that vehicle arrived. Side note: he is a Start Smart Interlock Ignition dealer/service center. I have a Mazda 3 hatchback, and it just took him *about 40 minutes* to complete the installation ! He had provided me with a wooden stool to sit outside right next to my car as he didn't want anyone waiting inside his small office space during these covid-19 times which I understood. Benson started at the back hatch window to install the dash cam and wiring which I thought was unusual (for me anyways) as I thought they'd start at the front and work their way back. He used Tesa tape (which is a CLEAN way to secure wiring) through several areas for the layout of the wiring cables. My worse pet peeve is when a stereo installer does not secure the wiring in certain instances where he has to combine more than two wire cables, the next worse would be if they used twist ties *which I don't see anymore*, with the next being zip ties (which would have been ok) installed at spaced out intervals, and the best would be to use Tesa tape. Once I saw Benson using Tesa tape, I *knew* this was quality workmanship... as I had my powered sub and alarm installed elsewhere and they used a lot of the Tesa tape for that clean/finished appearance. He then routed the wiring into the C, B and A headliner pillars and when that wiring met with the hardwired kit, he wrapped them with Tesa tape again... I'm liking this guy ! This is pride in his work ! As he got down to the fuse box area to secure the ground, I guess he did not find a good grounding point, so you could hear his drill spinning and also clearing the paint around the screw so that there would be a good grounding point. More Tesa tape being installed near the fuse box, then finally more Tesa tape just above my front windshield dash cam where the power cable and front to back camera cable were taped together --- it looked soo nice, clean, and less cluttered for sure ! Once pau with his work, we went back into his office to pay. He told me that his work comes with a one (1) year labor warranty... great ! Any problems I incur, he said to call him to talk about it... I started talking about where I had my sub and alarm installed, and before I said the name, he *knew* the shop that installed the work (Security and Sound Systems in Moiliili). I said ' how'd you know?' He said because he saw the Tesa tape wrapping... and that he does it the same way. Now you know, same quality workmanship but at a way lesser labor price... go see Benson ! I just looked at all of his Yelp reviews, and ALL 66 reviews have a 5 star out of 5 star rating, so that should mean something if you have any intentions of doing any kind of stereo/alarm/dash cam, etc work to your personal & commercial vehicles read more
