Excellent food! It was my first time here, and figuring out the spice level at Thai places is always a learning process each new place. I asked for 3* in a larb salad, and couldn't taste any heat, the dish was good, just not spicy at all. The Tom Kah soup may have been the best I've ever had! The broth was rich, fragrant, and not overly sweet, the bowl was absolutely PACKED with tender mushrooms, onion, prawns, and generous amounts of ginger, lemongrass, kefir lime leaves. I will absolutely get that again! The staff was very friendly and service excellent.

One of the most genuine Thai restaurants in Tacoma, this spot serves a papaya salad that's both robust and bursting with flavor. The spice level is genuinely hot, enhancing the authenticity and deliciousness of the dishes. The boat noodle is often rare cuisine out of Thailand but they make it good.

Quickly became one of my go to Thai places in Tacoma! Really well balanced flavors, not too sweet or salty! Love the refreshing papaya salad, flavorful pineapple fried rice but my favorite is the pad woo sen! If you like glass noodles, give it a try! Nothing too special about the ambience but feels clean and quick and efficient service! Will be coming back, there's many more things on the menu I would love to try!

I found this place in a strip mall walking distance from our hotel and decided to give it a shot. Well worth the trip over. We were seated immediately and offered some snacks and beers while the entrees came around. I went with the recommended beer which was nice crisp option to go with my savory appetizers. To be honest, I can't remember what I ordered, but every one of these items was hands down. Some of the best Thai food I've ever had. A little sweeter that I'm used to, but I'm assuming that's a regional thing. Plenty of space for seating. And was able to hold a party of 12 of us with no sweat plus their regular customers. Definitely a spot I would recommend hungry travelers Thai food lovers.

Still go to this thai spot at least once a week! I wanted to attach their menus they have in the restaurant that has pictures. Because I know all of us like photos to get a visual of what we can indulge in! Service is always good! The staff are hella friendly!

Massaman curry hot with chicken. The chicken was the only thing good

I ordered massaman curry hot, the rice was mush, it looked curdled and there was no spice. I am sick and wanted something that would clear my sinuses once again I ordered hot and there was literally no spice I got two pieces of pineapple and three burnt peanuts. The chicken was good not dry but by far the worst curry I have ever had I wanted to like it but not at all very disappointing the Thai coffee wasn't sweet as it usually is everything was off maybe it was a bad day but I will not be coming back

Stumbled upon this little hidden gem in Tacoma. Kamlai offers a very cozy and lively dining room for customers to eat while having super affordable prices that simply cannot be beat in this economy. I got the Basil Fried Rice, Chicken Pad Thai, and the crab wontons. The fried rice was really delicious. Had a great wok flavor and wasn't dry. Would for sure order this again. Pad thai was really solid but wish it was a bit saucier! Portions at this restaurant is enormous so we had a ton of leftovers. Crab wontons were perfectly fried and filled. The place was empty at 8pm but I can see this restaurant being a good place for a night out. Would love to come here again!

First glance, you'll miss this hidden pearl. We loved the owners and service. The taste and spices they used were authentic. Our food was exactly what was expected, and they appeased to our party of 7 kids and parents. Yes it is family friendly and there are a lot of tables for customers. Ask for their spice rack because it truly is a blessing having homemade chilis and chili oil. Our bill was around 100$ and I thought this was most impressive especially with appetizers and many courses. We will be back!

Quite possibly the perfect Fresh Roll. Tautly wrapped (compresses filling so more flavor in every bite -- and doesn't fall apart).

We ate here about 1 year ago -- and couldn't wait to come back. The food is outstanding-- you can hear the kitchen at work from your table. Wonderful smells, very fresh ingredients and superb preparation. That's the owner -- and chef -- Kamlai, back there chopping and stirring and creating wonderful dishes. We ordered fresh rolls and Rangoon wontons, pad thai, a garlic chicken dish and a beef- broccoli item. All were first rate. The only thing wrong is that this establishment should be full -- with folks waiting outside to get in. (Selfishly, I'm a little glad, but since we are way-out-of-towners, I'm willing to share.) Service is very good. (Kamlai even makes an occasional personal appearance in the dining room...she just popped in! And back out.) We look forward to returning soon.

This place was previously known as Sweet Rice but got new owners! Ambiance: a lot of fake plants and clean tables. Service: attentive and food comes out super quick! I also really, really love hearing the clattering of the wok from the kitchen. Dishes are made to order. Food: this is where I give them truly 5 stars. I've been hard pressed to find a pad thai like theirs: noodles chewy and not broken into little pieces, sweet and spicy with just enough tamarind and saltiness. I think I found a new favorite! Their red curry is also exceptional; it is more than an ordinary red curry with layers of robust flavors. Comes with a bowl of rice. We also got a small order of free crab rangoons for their grand opening. I will be back!

We have ordered from here on DoorDash and really enjoyed our meals. We have been house hunting and were looking for somewhere to enjoy a nice meal and saw that Kamlai was close by. As we entered, we were welcomed by a nice gentleman who told us we could sit wherever we wanted. We were given menus and waters then were told that we could choose between the spring rolls or crab rangoons as a free appetizer. We chose the latter were amazed by the taste of both the rangoons and the amazing sweet and sour plum sauce. We ordered a Thai iced tea, garlic delight, phad thai and a side of peanut sauce. They seemed to get a lot of take out orders which is great as I know they recently opened and I saw them on DoorDash and UberEats. They had a video playing on the TV near us about Korean street food so I was watching that while waiting for our food to arrive. Not too long after, our food arrived piping out. I had originally asked for my phad thai to be made with 5 stars spice level, however the cook who brought it out was sweet and brought a spice rack for me. We were very happy with our food and left full. The two that work here are very sweet and you can tell that they are wanting to make sure that customers are satisfied. A great Thai spot in Tacoma and looking forward to coming back!

N1. Pad Thai, N7. Singapore Noodles, E3. Garlic Delight w shrimp and Thai Tea. It was all delicious!

A LOT of life has happened since then, so we definitely had plenty to catch up on. Neither of us had been to Bloom Thai before, but we both love Thai food, so we decided to give it a try. This place is definitely different from any Thai restaurant I've been to before. It's super small, with only a handful of tables. You order at the counter, grab your number, and find a table. They also have a big jug of cucumber water that was so refreshing! They didn't have my usual yellow chicken curry, so I decided to try something completely different--the drunken noodles. I honestly had no idea what I was ordering, but OH MY GOSH... I was in love with this dish! The flavors were fantastic, and they topped it with deep-fried basil. I'm not even kidding when I say I think I've dreamed about that crispy basil every day since! It was SO good! The food was definitely the star of the show for me, and I really enjoyed the atmosphere. I think this is such a fun little spot to meet a friend for lunch, especially if you want somewhere casual and different. That said, it is VERY small, so I personally wouldn't choose it for a family dinner with a bunch of picky eaters or rambunctious kids. The menu is also a little different than your typical Thai restaurant, so definitely keep that in mind. For dinner, I'd probably order it to-go and enjoy it at home. But for a girls' lunch or catching up with a friend? Absolutely! Great little find, and I will definitely be back for those drunken noodles and that amazing fried basil!

The husband, who was serving, checked in several times to make sure I had everything I needed. The chef also stopped by my table when she came out of the kitchen, which was such a thoughtful touch. The pork belly was very crispy(an additional fee), but too salty for my taste. The Pad Thai was good, although not the best I've had. The noodles were cooked well, and I enjoyed the flavor of the sauce. It did not come spicy, but chili sauce was available to add some heat. The spicy omelette tom yum soup had a great balance of mild spice and sourness, and it tasted very authentic. The texture of the fried omelette after soaking in the soup was not my favorite, but that may come down to personal preference. The Thai iced tea had a good balance of tea and condensed milk, although it was sweeter than I prefer. You order at the counter, and the food is brought to your table afterward. Water is self-service. They also have a helpful sign explaining the ordering and seating process for first-time guests. The restaurant was very clean, nicely decorated, and had a great ambiance. I especially enjoyed the small area showcasing the chef's history and journey. Overall, the warm service and welcoming atmosphere made the experience memorable.

There was a it of a rocky start because they gave our table to another party, which was smaller, so we all were bunched together at the front of the restaurant, which has a tight entry. It was intended for the party of 8. So we didn't have much elbow room to eat. I ordered the golden duck and my partner had basil rice with beef. My best friend ordered a lemon curry chicken that was so good I almost switched our plates. I actually really loved my food too. My partner enjoyed the rice but not the beef. I also had the crab wontons which were super yummy. Everyone pretty much loved what they ordered. They raved about the Thai tea. It truly would have been a five star experience had we been more comfortable. Also, they kind of just forgot about us after they dropped off our main courses. We sat so long without being checked on that none of wanted dessert anymore when quite a few of us were going to order some at first. I'd loved to try it more intimately with less people as they could have maybe just been overwhelmed. Other notes: Not overpriced. Parking wasn't exactly a breeze but I also didn't mind having to walk a bit. It's downtown so it was expected. Very busy, so maybe make a reservation or call ahead? There was outside seating. Bathrooms are not gender neutral. We visited on a Saturday. Happy eating !

For a long time I got Drunken Noodles whenever going to a Thai restaurant if I could but the last few times I have wanted something different than that. So on this outing I got the the House Ginger. This was a stir fry with your choice of protein (mine was chicken), ginger, stir fry sauce, garlic, onion, bell pepper, green onion and carrot. It also came with rice and the portion sizes were very satisfying and not too much. The flavor on my meal was so good, very fresh and bursting with flavor. Steve was equally impressed with his as he got the Drunken Noodles. Nothing is too fancy here. The environment was very clean, with bright and spotless windows. Taste: I ordered the chicken with rice and added a portion of green curry beef. The chicken with rice was the restaurant's recommendation. It was impressive at first bite and quite enjoyable, but it became saltier as I ate toward the end. The portion of chicken was modest, so overall, it's still recommended. As for the green curry beef, it wasn't very rich, and the beef was scarce. I had expected chunks of beef, but what came out was sliced beef coated in starch. The texture wasn't great, so I wouldn't particularly recommend it. Service: The service was good.
