I opt-ed for the premium option during lunch and I was happy with the options. My only two complaints were the wagyu and the kan salmon. The wagyu looks nothing like the photo and the kan salmon wasn't yummy. Everything else was amazing!! I loved the scallop and the dressing. The salmon to the moon and back I ordered twice. The portion sizes are good, not too small or big. I think this is one of the better AYCE spots in Austin.

I've been in twice now, and while I can see the potential -- both of my visits had clear issues, and it's hard to justify trying it further given the higher price point. They aren't very knowledgeable or trained with handling allergens, even though they say they accommodate them. I then had pacing issues, where it took a very long time for any sashimi to come out, but then almost too many orders showing up. It made it difficult to order the right amount, with how out of order and inconsistently paced the orders were. I also had a couple other issues like salmon coming out ice cold, and then the correction being dry and overdone. Many of the items I got were actually very good quality and beautiful, though. I still see the potential, if they could get their consistency down and their allergen knowledge up to speed.

Kan Sushi is an AYCE sushi and KBBQ. You don't cook the meat at your table instead you fill out a menu with the items you are wanting. They will bring everything out to you. Our favorites were the nigiri's and sushi rolls. The appetizers were delicious and unique as well. The noodle dishes were good but not as good as the sushi. We didn't get much of the KBBQ meat but what we did order was delicious! The service was great, very attentive and friendly. Would definitely go back!

This place is a cute all you eat sushi! It's order by the menu and the menu is truly extensive! I enjoyed their salmon Nigiri and galbi ribs! Please load up on that. The rest were good but depending on the rolls it was a hit or a miss for me. I didn't really enjoy the udon but I don't like sweet sauces. The service was prompt and the atmosphere is good. I would say this is good for big groups and chill dates, this isn't a fancy date place in my opinion. If I wanted unlimited nigiri I'll definitely be back!

Meh. I'll start by saying the rolly polly roll was delicious. We ordered like 8 of them. Except when one came out with cream cheese instead of crab on accident, I almost vomited. I hate cream cheese. The rest of the fish was just not good. It was nice the rice to fish ratio much more fish but it would have been nice if the fish tasted better. The portions were also very small. Dessert and drinks are not included in AYCE, drinks were expensive $15+. Maybe I'll try this place again the longer it's around. Probably not!

Kan Sushi has become my favorite AYCE (All-You-Can-Eat) sushi place in town! I used to go to Machi Sushi (located in southern Austin), but after this place opened and trying it a couple of times now, I personally think the seafood is more fresh here! I particularly like the fact that the sashimi slices are surprisingly thick and the rice to seafood ratio on the nigiri items is incredible (i.e. more protein than rice). Although you have to pay an additional $20 for the premium menu (which comes with the carpaccio sushi, sashimi, premium rolls and appetizers, and even Korean BBQ dishes), I think it's definitely worth the extra cost! I understand that there have been mixed reviews about the service and accuracy but thankfully, the waiters have been very attentive both times that I've been there. If you're a bit hesitant because of the mixed reviews, then I recommend coming for lunch (the prices are cheaper) so that you can feel out the place without committing to a higher price tag! Some of my favorite dishes here include: Truffle Salmon (Nigiri), Yellowtail and Tuna Carpaccio, Salmon Sashimi, Hamachi Kama (Appetizer), Salmon Kama (Appetizer), Calamari (Fried Squid), Galbi, and the Beef Bulgogi!

Just don't. This place is overpriced, badly run, and a hygiene risk. I'm warning you: skip Kan Sushi. The service is chaotic, the food handling is questionable, and for what they charge, it's honestly kind of insulting ($38 dinner price +$20 premium price. Otherwise no sashimi). 1. First round took 90 mins -- and felt rigged We ordered a full first round, but only got part of it. After finishing what they brought, our server asked if we "still wanted the rest" (which was part of the original order). Only then did the kitchen start making the rest. Sushi came first, sashimi at the very end -- felt like they were trying to fill us up early. 2. Sashimi requires "manager approval"? Over an hour in, we asked about our sashimi and got told they needed manager approval to serve it. It's all-you-can-eat -- why is that even a thing? 3. They tried to take back food we already touched Dishes kept getting mixed up. At one point, they dropped off sashimi, someone at our table started eating it, then the server came back and tried to take it back to another table. That's just nasty. 4. Found plastic in our sushi -- and they didn't care We literally found a piece of plastic wrap inside a roll. Showed it to the manager -- he brushed it off, then blamed a "trainee." No apology, no ownership, just took one person off the bill like that made it okay. Eating plastic in raw fish is not a small thing. 5. Whole service vibe = chaos Nobody seemed to know what they were doing. Communication was awful. And for the price? Definitely not worth it.

Austin doesn't have a lot of AYCE sushi spots, but this one would definitely be considered one of the better ones. Decent quality (as good as AYCE sushi can get), large menu, but pricy for what it is - even as AYCE. For dinner, it's $38.95/person - and that's without the +$20/person add on for "premium" menu items. Lunch is about $10 cheaper and if I ever revisited I'd probably stick to the lunch price, as I don't think the dinner price is worth it for me. The most value for your money is obviously in the sushi, but the hot apps and other menu items were pretty good. Service can vary. Since we arrived before the dinner rush (and dined on a weeknight), our food came out pretty quickly. Their paper system isn't the best, but it's not terrible as long as your server is attentive. Toward the end as it got busier, the wait time for food grew longer. Overall, I thought the sushi rolls were good and the nigiri just okay. For the price point I'd rather dine at a higher quality sushi spot and just pay for better fish bites, but I don't think it's that bad if you know what you're in for and just want the AYCE experience.

Newer AYCE sushi spot in Austin that plankton is the best in town. I liked it better than bang bang or Junai. Lots of seating inside, and you can choose between regular price or premium which adds $20 per person but gives you a larger selection to choose from. Honestly I think just the regular Definitely no need to over order as you have 90 minutes, but I will say the nigiri pieces are on the smaller side. Our favorites were the salmon and pepper salmon nigiri, the udon pasta, and the shrimp nigiri. Definitely worth trying out if you're into AYCE sushi.

We tried Kan Sushi last night after seeing some of y'all's reviews, and we were pleasantly surprised. Pricing: * Regular Lunch: $28.95 | Regular Dinner: $38.95 * Premium Upgrade: +$20 per person * A La Carte: Uni ($11.95 for 2 pcs), A5 Wagyu Nigiri ($13.95 for 2 pcs), A5 Wagyu Grill ($35.95), and desserts Since we're not big AYCE sushi people, we opted for premium and compared a few regular menu items. The difference was clear--premium actually tastes like normal sushi, not the usual dry, gummy buffet-style fish. The sushi keeps coming, so I'd recommend eating as you go to enjoy it fresh. What we had: * Fatty Cuts: Snowflake Salmon, Truffle Salmon, Short Rib, Ikura * Leaner Cuts: Carpaccio, which had a cleaner taste * Soft Shell Crab: Fresh, not canned, and generously portioned * Takoyaki: Flavorful with real squid pieces * Udon Pasta: No idea what was in it, but it tasted amazing--almost like pizza sauce * Inari Unagi (Eel Tofu Pockets): Obsessed with these! Sweet, savory, and just incredibly delicious * Prime Cut Nigiri (Regular Menu): The only thing we didn't like--tough meat and overpowered by teriyaki sauce The pieces were small because they didn't overload the rice like most AYCE spots. In most cases, there was more fish than rice, which is respectable--you can just order more. A5 Wagyu Grill ($34.95) The A5 Wagyu was buttery and rich but a bit tricky to cook. You need to balance not overcooking it while ensuring the fat renders properly. We first grilled one cube at a time but quickly realized it's best to cook them all at once before the flame dies down. Dessert - Great Texture & Fresh The Hōkkien (Hokkein) Mochi with Matcha Ice Cream was a standout. The mochi had an amazing crunchy-chewy texture, perfectly sweet without being overpowering, while the ice cream was smooth, creamy, and not bitter at all--a perfect way to end the meal. Service - Excellent because Corp Service was top-notch, likely due to the corporate crowd. Our waiter was a lead trainer, and even the managers and president stopped by tables. They were so attentive that if they saw me even thinking about taking a photo, they scattered and welcomed me to do so. It's like the opposite of paparazzi for them! Final Verdict - With premium and a la carte upgrades, the price adds up. I didn't like the regular dishes we ordered. So it comes down to relatively whether you want to have tons of variety or not. If you're looking for the best AYCE sushi experience right now, I think this is it imo.

Some really good sushi! After scouting all the AYCE spots in Austin, we decided to visit Kan and purchase their premium set for $60 a person. Although I think jt is kind of expensive, I think it's worth it if you're in Austin. I absolutely loved the fish to rice ratio! I have never seen a AYCE or high end sushi spot with this ratio and think this is how it should be! The Hamachi Kama was my favorite dish, perfectly cooked and soft practically melting in your mouth. The soft shell crab is a great add on to the menu but the sauce that paired with it was too salty. The carpaccio offered was also a highlight, the toppings and sauce that paired with the Tuna, Salmon, and Yellowtail was flavorful and actually had us preferring it over the sashimi. The BBQ items are also the meat staples from GEN which were good. I do also think that if you're paying for premium, there shouldn't be a limitation on any items to order and that dessert should be included. I had a great experience, service was welcoming and nice and the interior design and elevated vibe of the place adds to it. Overall, 8.5/10. read more

I enjoyed my visit to Kan Sushi. The interior design is neat and open. The server was very nice to us and checked in to see when we wanted to order more dishes. The quality of the food was decent. Some sushi rolls looked clumsy and the rice was overcooked and gratuitous, but the sauce was tasty and the seafood was fresh. I recommend the nigiri because the the rice to seafood proportion was perfect. A few hot items I ordered never came out, but I was so full from sushi that I was relieved that they forgot. I believe some management stopped by our table and asked how we were doing, they were friendly. read more

I had the regular lunch all you can eat The food quality was slightly above average The wait staff was very nice and helpful It was not crowded at all (2 other tables) but it took quite a long time to get my food at times The rice itself fell apart so easily like it had no sugar and vinegar at all, so this made the sushi fall apart. There must be some kind of "influencers get the good stuff and we hide it when normal people walk in" program because all of their social media interactions and marketing look amazing, but on our visit everything we ordered across every part of the menu was fishy, burnt or the wrong order all together. We saw our server a total of 3 times in 2 hours, received the wrong order 3 times, and decided to pay and leave without many of our ordered items regardless of the premium pricing because we knew it wouldn't be a standard that matched the price. Came to check out the All You Can Eat Sushi restaurant where my Best friend works at! First time here and they was very welcoming, great atmosphere, and fantastic service! The Food had Multiple Multiple Layers of Flavors, just burst in your mouth all at once The best way I could describe how Delicious it was. 2 of the the rolls I didn't like as much but overall, I left with a Full, Happy Tummy. Came here during lunch and I would say it's definitely worth the price of $27 AYCE. The nigiri was good quality for AYCE. It had a very generous amount of fish with little rice. You would think these places fill it with rice but this place doesn't do that! They also have a little kbbq section where they cook the meat for you, which I thought was very cool! I went to Kan Sushi today for dinner. We decided to get the premium all you can eat option because I really wanted to try the fancy nigiri. It ended up costing a lot more than I was expecting. But I do think the quality was worth it. We ordered a lot of food on the first round because we were super hungry. We got so full though that we didn't even order a second round. My favorite thing was definitely the truffle salmon nigiri. It was really good and tasted super fresh. I also really liked the beef belly it was very flavorful. The udon soup was also really good and fresh. Everything came out pretty fast even though we ordered a lot at once. Our waiter was nice and helpful. The restaurant was fancier than I was expecting. I thought the food was pretty good for all you can eat but definitely expensive. read more

The first time I came here I really enjoyed my experience, the food was good, servers were fast and it wasn't too busy during lunch on a Saturday. The second time I came in (two weeks later) at 9pm on a Sunday (it wasn't too busy and they close at 11pm). Our server was not very attentive and left towards the end of their shift and it seemed like no one was aware that they had our table after. We didn't get our miso soup until the end after reminder our server and the food came out very slow. We were there for 1.5 rounds (they made us half our orders since they didn't want to back up their kitchen) for 2 hours. By the time we got out second(ish) round, we were over waiting and decided to leave. They also were rationing the wasabi and ginger since they said they were running out... at a sushi restaurant I would hope they would always have it in stock. Overall, not sure if I will be coming back here. This second time visiting was not the best and not sure if I want to sit around waiting for 2 hours for ayce when I can go elsewhere for a more reliable experience. read more

I was just not overly impressed. The quality of the fish and meat was not very high. I question if the bulgogi was actually meat. I also noticed that the sushi was served on a warm plate. The service was outstanding and the price was reasonable. I think paying the extra 20 might be worth it. I will give it another try for sure. Nice ambiance with lots of customers- read more

I have been to this place three times. The service is always a hit or miss here depending on how busy they are. All the food we have ordered tasted really good and fresh especially their sushis. If you like to spend extra, I would definitely recommend getting their premium. My favorite were the truffle salmon and their sashimis. I also like the fried squid and baked mussels. Kan Sushi blew me away--honestly one of the best sushi spots I've been to, hands down. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would. This place goes above and beyond in quality, variety, and experience. We did the all-you-can-eat (AYCE) dinner and it was 100% worth it. Every dish came out fresh and beautifully plated, and the fish quality was top notch for AYCE. Favorites were the truffle salmon sushi, hamachi kama (order early--it sells out!), and the spicy beef gyoza. Even the appetizers like takoyaki and miso eggplant were . Nothing felt rushed or "mass produced" like some other AYCE places. Service was stellar. Our server checked in often, made great recommendations, and everything came out fast despite being busy. The vibe is sleek and modern, but still warm and welcoming. Bonus: parking was super easy since they've got a lot--huge win in Austin. If you're looking for a sushi spot that's both a splurge and a steal (trust me, you're getting your money's worth), Kan is the move. I'll be dreaming of that truffle salmon until I come back. read more

Preface this review as compared to other ayce sushi places. This is actually 3.5 but since they're new giving more time to work on things. Started out great, decently fast service, rolls and sushi were quite good! Appetizers were slow though. As the meal went on things gradually got worse. The sushi was less nice? As if they start with higher quality or better looking cuts and as you order more it gets worse? The service started to decline as well. Less attentive and everything started taking forever. We eventually just paid and left without getting our last rolls as we needed to be somewhere. We were already seated for 1.5 hours but we were not eating the entire time since everything started taking a long time. They were way less busy by the time we left too so it was puzzling. All in, I would say if you're willing to drive south of the river, Machi sushi is better for the same price. We went Saturday lunch and they require dinner menu... Machi also has sashimi as an option and they are very fast. Ambiance as kan is good, casual, decently spacious but I'd like them to work on things before going back read more

The best AYCE sushi in austin, by far. I have been to Kan maybe 20 times and love the ambiance, interior design, service, and of course the sushi. It's always incredibly fresh and they clearly take a lot of pride in the quality and selection of their fish. I think the AYCE pricing matches the food quality, service, and ambiance well. Nice looking restaurant and very friendly help. I love sushi rolls and was excited to try out Kan. The rolls were so so bland and tasteless. I've had many sushi rolls from NJ to CA and now in TX and I can say this is the only plac where I totally disliked the food. I actually took home the leftovers and when I tried it the next day I had to throw it all away. SHAME!! Don't you taste what you serve? UGH! read more

No wonder they call it Kan Sushi it was a Con. The food was overpriced and lack luster. The truffle fries weren't fully cooked and had no seasoning. The sashimi tasted like grocery store fish. First time eating here. The staff were very nice to explain everything. The waitress was also very helpful. My family got the dinner AYCE. I especially enjoyed the numerous sushi ordered. We ordered several different appetizers and enjoyed them all except one, the fries. The Inari was about twice the size what I'm used to. EVERY sushi items were VERY delicious. My family enjoyed the BBQ items, bulgogi, pork belly, galbi, and spice beef belly. Yum! We enjoyed the food, service, and environment. Going to the restroom was intriguing. The sushi is really good quality. perfect vibe for date night and girls night. Jennifer was our waiter, and she made our night so much fun and made sure we were taken care of and recommended some delicious rolls. I feel like with a lot of all you can eat places, they basically force you to get the "premium" option to get anything decent. The rolls are normally in the upper teens though thankfully, happy hour pricing shaved a few dollars off that cost. With so many other dining options nearby, Maiko is easy to overlook. This is the only place that I have been to have this party going on for each dish. Overall I like this place better than its sister restaurant Uchiba. I'll be going to Uchiko soon to determine my favorite of the three but Uchi is at the top so far.

I absolutely loved my dinner last night! We opted for the $38 premium menu and added $20 for extra options like Korean BBQ, and it was fantastic! The salmon sashimi was incredibly fresh and expertly prepared, practically melting in my mouth. The sushi offered a wide variety, prioritizing generous portions of fish over rice, which I really appreciated. As for the bbq, the Galbi ribs were top notch! Having an all-you-can-eat sushi spot so close to Austin is a game-changer--no more traveling south for Machi Sushi! In fact, the quality here surpasses that of both Machi and Kura Sushi, and the prices are unbeatable. Kura charges the same but doesn't deliver the same level of quality or services. Our waitstaff was very attentive. We did have a large group, so a few orders got mixed up, but everything was sorted out by the end of the meal. The variety here is unreal--everything from sushi and sashimi to Korean BBQ and creative rolls. I started with the garlic butter edamame and jalapeno bomb, both packed with flavor, and then dove into the sushi. The premium salmon and seared yellowtail were super fresh, and the Roly Poly Roll was a standout with its mix of krab, salmon, and eel sauce. What really impressed me was the rice portion--it's just right, unlike other AYCE sushi places where you're drowning in rice and skimped on fish. Here, they nail the balance, so you actually get to enjoy the quality of the seafood. The galbi was a highlight too--perfectly marinated, tender, and grilled to juicy perfection. We were really disappointed with this all-you-can-eat sushi spot. The service was painfully slow--we waited 30 minutes just for a simple salad, and it was clear they didn't have enough chefs in the kitchen to handle the crowd. The sushi itself wasn't any better. All the rolls tasted the same, the tuna didn't seem fresh, and overall the quality just wasn't there. For $60 per person, it definitely wasn't worth it. We've spent half that at Kyoka and had a way better experience. Unfortunately, we won't be coming back. read more

I went into this location having extremely high expectations but however I was extremely disappointed. Our server Tony was extremely rude, and the food was extremely mediocre for the price point. The fish was extremely mushy, and not fresh. It should not be like this for $60 a person. Not once was Tony polite with us. We tipped and will never be back again. read more
