Shocked to find such an amazing Korean restaurant just outside of Austin in Round Rock. I had honestly started to give up on Korean food after moving here from Dallas--cough Carrollton, IYKYK--but Ghama Zone reminded me what good Korean food is actually like. Unfortunately, I was too busy eating and socializing to take many photos, but the bossam in particular really stole the show. It was soft, flavorful, and not funky at all, which is one of my biggest pet peeves with bossam. It also came with lettuce leaves and soybean paste, which made every bite so satisfying. Their soup, which I did manage to photograph, was also amazing. The broth was clear yet refined and full of flavor. The beef rib had more meat than I could even finish and was incredibly tender. We came here 30 minutes after it opened on Sunday for lunch and was informed that they're sold out of the short rib steak. This was terrible news as that's what we came to the restaurant for. Since we're already here, we decided to order the bossam and rose tottebokki. The banchons here kinda sucked to be honest and they didn't give us much table space. They had to Tetris pretty hard when our food arrived. The bossam and rose tottebokki was pretty good but I don't think it quite justifies the price. We asked our waitress and she suggested that we call ahead of time if we want to try to short rib steak since it's not always in stock and there's a 20 minutes prep time. Really enjoyed our experience here on a Saturday night. We waited about 10mins to sit at the bar. We came for the beef rib soup and will return for it. It's a simple light broth with clear noodles. First timers here after we'd heard this restaurant was worth a try. Beef bulgogi was super fresh with a nice sauce and subtle flavors. It wasn't too salty as can be places. Equally good on rice and/or made into little wraps with the romaine lettuce provided. The banchan that came with the meal was a tasty precursor and fun to sample as we waited. The marinated jalapeño onions slices were very tasty. The kimchi was on pointe and the pasta/ fish saucy sauce was tasty too. The spicy chicken entree was tasty and saucy. I'd definitely order the bulgogi again. There was plenty for two of us and we could have gotten an appetizer instead of the chicken dish and would have been full. Been here a few times and finally getting around to writing a review/ it's located in downtown round rock and there's street parking or a parking garage nearby. The restaurant isn't super big but never had an issue getting seated pretty quickly. Came in for lunch on a Tuesday to order the short ribs and wow, it was delicious. It's a little pricey but a good portion to share! We ordered a few sushi rolls as that's a newer addition to the menu and they were good, but I prefer sushi elsewhere. Absolutely yes. I'll tell everyone I know to go here. It's so good and I can't wait to go back for the food. I saw an Instagram ad and once I saw the Sake Don, I was hooked. Mouth drool My husband and I took our baby with us (during the day) and I found that they were polite about it. Other kids and young babies were there too, so I'd say it's kid friendly, during the day! It is a small space and I feel like it can echo if depending on where you sit. The restaurant is split from a sushi bar and a table section. Next date night without the kiddo, I'm for sure going back! The servers were nice. THE BIG: Located in downtown Round Rock, right on the strip. This Korean restaurant hits hard! Plenty of street parking available. THE BLACK AND WHITE: My friend and I came here right as it opened and it was already busy! Fortunately there were still tables and we were able to snag one. Foodwise, we got the social media star: Ghama Hansang spicy pork along with the tteokbokki carbonara with truffle and bulgogi kimbap. The Ghama Hansang came in a beautiful bento box format that resembled banchan. The meat you get to choose from spicy pork or bulgogi. The tteokbokki carbonara was a different flavor profile that was great. The only thing I didn't like about it was the truffle add-on. It was an extra $3 and the truffle didn't seem fresh. THE FINAL BAMBOO: Overall we spent around $130 for everything. So good and I'm definitely going to be back to try more stuff on the menu! read more

This is a true hidden gem, and I don't use that phrase lightly! I've been meaning to find somewhere that does tofu skin pockets in Austin, and stumbled across Ghama Zone. EVERYTHING THAT I GOT WAS AMAZINGG! they really perfected their techniques the seafood pancake was cut up and crispy like a hash brown with bits of octopus and green onion. i wish there was more meat, but it kept me coming back for another piece anyways - with that tangy and light dipping sauce the short rib steak was INSANE! so tender and each part of the meat had a slightly different texture, ranging from melt in your mouth to a slight chew. that sauce was even tangier than the pancake sauce, and coated the meat well. the price is a bit steep but it's a must try maybe for a special occasion. and of course my tofu skin pockets YUMM my favorites were the shrimp which was very mayo forward and rich and the crab all in which had crispy onions (?) on top that was nice. overall i will be takin my friends to come back read more

I love that a Korean restaurant is added to downtown Round Rock. I came in on a Sunday afternoon and was able to get seated quickly. The restaurant is clean and the staff are all friendly. Since it was a hot day, I ordered myself a bibim makguksu, a cold spicy noodle dish. The dish was absolutely perfect. It was chilled, refreshing, moderately spicy, and filling. The vegetables added a good crunch and paired very nicely with the buckwheat noodles. My partner ordered the carbonara tteobokki with mozzarella as an add on. The dish was just as as mine, but very different because its a hot (temperature) dish. The sauce was creamy and oh so very flavorful. It had that umami flavor, you can taste the mushroom, bacon, etc. The cheese was slightly torched and is melted. The rice cakes were nice and chewy. Altogether, it tasted really good. Cute, quaint place in downtown Round Rock. The staff said they aim to serve upscale Korean food, though there's no white table cloth service, the prices definitely suggest that it should be. The biggest letdown was the lack of banchan, there was only 3. DO NOT order the soju, it's outrageously priced. Even the staff admitted they wouldn't pay those prices, and they even shared they only get a small discount on food and no free meals even after working full shifts. I'd rate this place much higher if they treated their staff better and if the prices made more sense. Still the restaurant was packed, as I guess people are drawn to the taste. This restaurant has lots of seating and is pretty spacious. Service was pretty quick and they do provide banchan (kimchi, radish kimchi, fish cake, mac n cheese) but unsure if it is refillable. We ordered a few dishes to family style: sweet chili wings, rose tteokbokki, beef rib soup, and bulgogi kimbap. I also ordered the crazy pork tofu pocket and fried salmon seaweed pocket to ry. The sweet chili wings were good though not very spicy. They were piping hot and crispy and I believe there were 6 to the order. The rose tteokbokki was alright. It was much cheesier than I anticipated and not as spicy as I thought it would be. It does cost extra for their to be protein included and the portion itself comes with just rice cakes. We were nervous that the bulgogi kimbap would be too small to share, but the portion size is actually pretty big and each slice was still bite sized. Nothing super memorable about the taste, but was still good. The beef rib soup didn't have much of a flavor profile to it, mainly just salt and peppery. The beef rib is HUGE and tender and there are some clear noodles at the bottom of the bowl. It's a little harder to share this because it is a soup. As for the pockets, the pork tofu pocket was the better of the two, although I wish it came out hot. It was room temperature and the cheese didn't really pull. The food for me was good, not the best like not great, but it does satisfy the Korean food craving. Presentation of dishes was so nice and fun, the sushi was on fire literally. They start you off with banchan-kimchi, macaroni, onions, and fish cake. It's standard, nothing outstanding, but they do give free refills! 1. Taimatsu Roll - My favorite dish we ordered. It's saucy and has a nice play on textures because of the crispy fried bits on top. It is stuffed with a sizeable piece of tuna and has a sweet mayo sauce. It is definitely more fusion leaning rather than traditional. 2. Dak-Galbi - A spicy chicken dish with sweet potato matchstick slices and rice cakes. There could be more rice cakes and flavor. It was not spicy at all, more of that sweet savory taste you get from gochujang based dishes. The chicken was super tender and there was a good amount! 3. Beef Rib Stew - This was a warming stew with glass noodles, it is a basic soup that is salty and peppery (some may think it's bland). It comes with a bone in beef rib that is fall off the bone tender! Overall, while the food wasn't the most outstanding, I would definitely come back to try other items (namely the sushi). I would also love to try the inari tofu pockets I see online (not sure if they still have that though since I don't think I saw that on the menu). I've always loved the Korean food here, and when I came back this time, I noticed they added more sushi to the menu. I tried their signature 8-piece nigiri, and the fish was super fresh. Every topping matched perfectly, and it was honestly incredible. The plating was beautiful too, you can really feel the love and effort they put into it. The second time we got the fried chicken wings and bulgogi. Again, everything was on the sweeter side, and I got sick of the bulgogi pretty quickly. I would say this place is good if you have a large party and can order a bunch of dishes so you can rotate between them, but honestly the price to flavor ratio was not there. Upon arrival it took at least 5 minutes before someone was available to greet us and seat us (it wasn't busy during this time). I ordered miso soup and was very surprised it was not the first thing out. In fact I almost forgot about it since my other items arrived before it. I also asked for a refill of bon chon and my server acknowledged and said they would bring it out (it never came). Overall the food was good and price is fair.
