We went last night (Saturday) and it was so empty from the parking lot, we thought they might be closed. Asked the hostess if we could sit at the bar because it was completely unoccupied. She showed us the sign saying "3 pieces per person minimum to sit at the bar." Uh yeah, that's not a problem. Of course, we ordered Omakase and we were guided through a magical offering of seafood sorcery, rivaled only by Shiro's in Seattle (trained by Jiro himself). I felt guilty, like we had stumbled into a secret wonderland made just for us. All of the good reviews here are true. These folks are magic. If you love good sushi, just go. Thank you, chefs! We will be back.

Great service and nice quality sushi! We tried Kanda for the first time last night as our favorite sushi restaurant was recently closed. Overall, I would rate the food and service both solid 4 stars. The restaurant is located in a strip mall on Thousand Oaks Blvd and parking spaces are ample. The restaurant appeared to have been recently renovated with nice bar sitting and a nice dining room. As for the food, the restaurant serves many traditional Japanese sushi. We ordered nigiris the live shrimp, live scallops, Spanish mackerel, toros, halibut, salmon and also a king crab roll. The fish tasted fresh and I love that the sushi wasn't loaded with a lot of rice or sauces that would drown the authentic taste of the fresh fish. The service was good and our waitress was very attentive. The food was served fairly fast. As for the cost, most nigiri was about $7-$8 per order but the toro nigiri was $25. We felt the toro tasted ok and we liked it better at our previous restaurant. The king crab roll was $17 and it contained both real crab and some fish cakes. Overall, a great place to get authentic Japanese sushi!

To sit at the Sushi Bar you have to buy 3 items. No matter even if you are dinning alone.

Delicious, clean tasting, traditional Japanese food. Loved the meal, ambiance, and service. So glad I came in on a whim!

Good food, but WAY overpriced and you hardly get much food at all. It's often empty and that tells me a lot.

This cozy little sushi spot is incredibly popular, and it's easy to see why. We were lucky to…read morearrive about 30 minutes before closing and were seated right away. The service was attentive and friendly, and the portions were surprisingly generous. Everything we ordered was fresh and flavorful, but the tuna crispy rice was definitely the standout, it had the perfect balance of texture and flavor. The ponzu yellowtail was also exceptionally fresh, light, and refreshing. There are so many rolls on the menu that we wanted to try, so we'll definitely be back for another visit!

I honestly don't understand the hype around Shibuya Sushi…read more The fish itself seemed fresh and good quality, but that alone does not make great sushi. The rice was cold, packed too tightly, and tough, which really hurts the overall experience. A lot of the sushi was also overwhelmed by sauces, which covered up the flavor of the fish instead of highlighting it. Maybe this works if you like heavily dressed rolls, but it is not what I would call great sushi, especially by California standards. The wait was also frustrating, not just because it was long, but because of how poorly it seemed to be managed. It felt like regulars could walk up, say the right thing, and get seated while everyone else just stood around waiting. That kind of thing makes the experience feel pretty lousy. The restaurant itself is packed, loud, and cramped. The tables are tiny, and there are not many of them, so it is hardly a pleasant dinner experience. To me, this place feels more driven by hype, social media, and people following the crowd than by truly excellent sushi. I wanted to like it, but based on this visit, I would not go back.

I skipped breakfast and by the time I had time to eat it was lunch (1PM) and when I looked at Yelp…read moreto try something new these pictures looked appetizing and got me craving sushi. The establishment is kind of hidden in the corner next to the shell gas station and there is ample parking. As I was walking towards the front, I see a sign stating that they have a happy hour starting at 1 o'clock and it was 1259 so I was very excited to see what this look like especially for it being my first time here. This meant that I get to try a lot of new things and a lot more things. There is about 10 to 15 tables inside with different amounts of seating and since it was just my boyfriend and I and the lady gave us the choice to sit wherever then we chose a table with two seats but, had us move to the next one because she said that the two seat ones were for single people, especially because it was lunchtime. She refused to let us sit at the two person table ‍. We got several menus and a pencil with an ordering paper. She took our drink order and we started to explore the vast menu and it all looked great! (I love when they have pictures on the menu apart from descriptions) After she brought us waters, I asked her if the special menu was considered the happy hour menu and she said it's not happy hour yet and I said yes it is 1 o'clock and she looked at my boyfriends clock on his phone and apologized and brought the happy hour menu. I included the receipt so you can see that 4/5 rolls were happy hour pricing. The sushi chefs were 2 Hispanic men and the reason why I mention this was because I feel like most of my rolls had this "chili powder" that resembled Tajin on my rolls and that's what they called "spicy" half my rolls were supposed to be spicy tuna but the tuna itself was not spicy they just had this Tajin-like powder on top and to me it wasn't spicy at all and I also felt like it made those 2/3 rolls taste bland. My bf loves deep fried rolls so he opted to try the magic mtn and he loved it and I think I enjoyed the spider roll the most. Even the spicy tuna on the crispy rice was just regular tuna with no spice. We still thought it tasted good but we will maybe give it another try with different rolls next time. They have a punch card if you spend $50+ after I think 10 you get a free speciality roll. The chefs gave us a parting remark and we thanked them upon leaving for lunch. Our server was a little more cold but kudos to her for handling the whole restaurant by herself in an efficient manner as our food came out quick and we got water refills and she checked in on us while serving 5/6 other tables all by herself.
