My boyfriend is a nutter for the fish and chips. They do a proper Shepherds Pie with lamb. I love the steak and ale pie. Makes me think of the most quaint village in the English countryside. The chips are insane! Triple cooked. Again, proper. Mushy peas, sausage rolls, and English peas are killer. Fast and friendly service. Perfectly fresh food. A++++++++++++++++++

I have come across very few places that hit the mark, and this one definitely did. I could have cared less what else was on the menu, I walked up, ordered the fish and chips, paid, and had them in my hands in no time flat. Truly, I ordered and before the payment processed I had food in hand. Service was definitely the fastest I have had just about anywhere. After finding a seat I was able to dig in. "The Governor's" Fish & Chips, as the menu officially names it, is a gigantic piece of Atlantic cod. Expertly battered and fried to a crip. Each bite was crunchy with that flaky cod inside. Pairing it with the tartar sauce for every single bite, you will keep going until this disappeared. Their chips, more like potato wedges, are triple cooked. Extremely crispy, the ketchup is a nice addition, never was a malt vinegar person. I was definitely full and shared some of this with my colleague as so none of this would go to waste. The only thing that I did not like were the Mushy Peas. I know, the name says it all, but they could have let that little cup of those watery, bland peas off the plate. This was by far the most delicious lunches I have had in a long time.

Ivy City SmokeHouse - Was not a fan of the crab cake flavor or fries . The crab meat was slippery.

Came for the party, stayed for the burger!…read more I visited Ivy City Smokehouse for a morning party, and I loved that the restaurant was open and serving food while we were partying because priorities! I don't typically eat beef, but every now and then I see a good-looking burger and all bets are off. Ivy City Smokehouse had a double-patty cheeseburger topped with cabbage salad and Russian dressing, served with fries. I'm not usually a Russian dressing girl, so I skipped it and went with good old ketchup instead. Y'all... this burger was SO GOOD. And HUGE! The fries were hot, crispy, and really good too, but I only ate a few because I was absolutely determined to finish that entire burger. Mission accomplished. The restaurant itself is pretty large with both indoor and outdoor seating. Since there was a party happening, there weren't many tables set up for dining, but we managed to snag one. The lines were long and food took a little while since everyone had to order both drinks and food through the bar, but the staff handled the crowd really well. They remained patient and attentive, and whether we needed ketchup, salt, pepper, or extra napkins, they made it happen. Usually the camera eats first, but I was so hungry that I jumped right in before even thinking about a picture. I've lived nearby for years and somehow never made it to Ivy City Smokehouse, but after that burger? I'll definitely be back!

I bought a ticket online as I approached only to get a message saying that there would be no previews and no admission after the start time, so I sprinted there. In fact, there were fifteen minutes or so of previews. Other rules about no phones and such were posted, but weren't aggressively enforced. Their food operation was a negative in my eye; when the movie did start someone stepped in front of me to take an order and a credit card number from my neighbor. The smells were dodgy and lights were kept on under the seats to facilitate eating, despite the fact that most people seemed not to finish. For all their promoting how the focus is put on the movie, it just wasn't my experience. For my particular showing, the star of the movie was actually contracted to do a special introduction, which wasn't badly done in and of itself but which kind of detracted from the movie a bit. The reclining seats were comfortable, but I'm not a fan of leather. I'm a bit of an optimist about the number of movies worth seeing and the value of an in-person theater experience, but I usually find myself going outside the District now if I want to see a movie and this experience did not convince me otherwise.
