We stopped here for a happy hour before a weekday event at Credit One and it was exactly what we had hoped for! We got there as soon as they opened at 4:30 and sat at the bar. Their happy hour prices can't be beat and they have beer, wine, and sake options. They also have very reasonably priced appetizers and sushi rolls- perfect for a solid HH experience. The gyoza dumplings were fine, but we ended up ordering 4 sushi rolls (really half rolls), which we enjoyed. They were all pretty solid and came out super fast. My husband ordered the Ichiban draft, which he really liked. I ordered a glass of the Chardonnay which was fine, but I wasn't expecting it to blow me away. We did leave full though! This specific wasabi location is close to my heart. I love the way it is decorated, the ambience, and layout inside! Such a cozy, family feeling and like I stepped back into the 2000s. There is a fish tank!! And really cool seating. Service was attentive and fast and it seems like the workers all love being there. I ordered a spicy tuna roll and the salmon skin roll. The salmon skin roll at wasabi is the best I've ever had anywhere! It is out of this world good. I also tried my friends SC crunch roll which beat both of my rolls by a landslide. Walked by on our way to a concert at the stadium there on Daniel Island. My wife and I decided to go in and were seated quickly at the sushi bar although we had not requested sushi seating. As we indeed do like sushi we joined in and both had sushi. I had the Daniel Island sushi ($15) shown on my photo. I wish I could describe all the great tastes in it but frankly it was one of the best sushis I have ever had. Of course it had the requisite green wasabi paste and ginger on the plate but I have burned myself with wasabi before at other places, so I used it very sparingly. The ginger was fresh and tasty. My wife was pleased with her Rock Shrimp Roll, which I did not sample. The server Quinna (her name was on the printed receipt) was appropriately attentive and checked back a few times, and quickly brought our check to us. A great visit and meal, quickly delivered. When I am back on Daniel Island I expect to go by and have another sushi meal, there, although they do serve a variety of other Oriental meals there! read more

Charleston has a lot of great sushi, this sushi is just okay. It's in an easy to get to location. The venue has live music some nights which is a great addition and they have plenty of outdoor seating. The service from one bartender in particular really brought down the vibe. It was clear she wasn't happy to be there and hey I don't love going to work some days either but it was all too obvious she was unhappy when I had to go on the search for my own soy sauce and chop sticks. I got the scam, and honestly I would compare it to $5 sushi Wednesday's at Publix, and I love $5 sushi Wednesday but it wasn't Wednesday and it was $12. The plate could have used more ginger and wasabi (I mean the place is called wasabi). Sushi was decent but not my favorite sushi place - i stuck with their cooked appetizers which were pretty small (as was their happy hour wine pour). Very good sushi restaurant on Daniel Island with a nice outside patio area. They have live music on weekends and a few covered outside seats due rain and umbrellas to help with the sun. Some of the happy hour bites felt a bit pre fabricated, but the other items were very fresh and good. Mix of traditional Japanese beers to go with the sushi and a basic wine selection in addition to sake. Also have great happy hour priced appetizers including sushi. All were delicious. For dinner I got the omakase option. Omakase offerings were just "meh" but for $20-25 dollars I think it was a good deal. This place isn't super authentic or Excalibur quality but it is still a great place for the price. Since moving to the south and the Charleston area I have been wanting to try this restaurant. Today was the day 1/27/23. When I went in with my friend we waited a few minutes to be noticed and greeted. When we finally sat down I ordered the Sashimi salad and the Maki Combo lunch. Unfortunately neither was good. I maybe ate one Sashimi piece. The ponzu sauce was over powering and drowning the sashimi salad. The sushi rolls I got didn't seem very fresh and again the sauce was every where. There were fried onion chips on some of the rolls and wasn't a fan. It's unfortunate but I do not think I'd recommend this location. read more

Absolutely amazing!! We enjoyed it so much! The atmosphere + service + food = great time! I ordered the edamame & it was great. It came in such a cute little basket. Then I ordered the Teriyaki tofu with veggies and a side of the fried rice (ask for vegan). It was cooked & flavored perfectly. I was impressed. Margarita was delicious as well. My girlfriend ordered the sushi and said it was pretty good nothing more. The atmosphere here was great, such a beautiful sunset outside on the patio. We're frequent visitors but after this last visit will not be returning. Our young child's bento box had melted and there was peeling paint inside one of the sections. I only noticed as I was packing up leftovers and paint chips came off with the fork. When we pointed this out to the server, she went to speak with the manager and came back a few minutes later to note the manager gave us 50% off the bento box and on the check there was a comment that said "customer complaint". Okay, this place is seriously good. We came here on a whim when in town, and I was NOT disappointed. My mom got the Thai Shrimp Salad which has an amazingly unique dressing on it. I ordered one dish -- chicken pad Thai. It was super oily. Puddles of it in the container and the noodles were soaked and glistening. The chicken was so shiny and smooth it looked fake. The dish was quite spicy and pad Thai is never spicy unless you ask for it to be. I took a small bite of the chicken and it was bouncy and didn't even taste like chicken. Spit it out. I took *one* bite of the noodles and found it to be way too spicy and very oily. I didn't eat anymore and threw it away. Someone said Daniel Island is where chefs go to die. Good amount of food and not too pricey. I come here often due to it being close to where I work and I can confidently say that Wasabi is consistent. They're not the best at everything but they're not the worst either when it comes to food quality and service. There have been times when the food is absolutely fresh and tastes amazing and then times where they over cooked something or it seemed like they were using ingredients from a day or two ago. There have been times when the service was on point and we're in and out in 30 minutes and times when I would wonder where the server went or an order was completely wrong. The location on Daniel Island is really nice and I enjoy sitting in their outdoor area by the pond. Sometimes parking can be tough especially during their peak hours but if you get there early enough it's usually no problem. I come here often and as long as I'm not expecting too much and just hoping for a solid meal, Wasabi doesn't let me down and I will continue coming back. read more

Food was just okay. Their price is the same that you will pay when you eat out in Japan with Japanese quality. And the fact that their service staff were wearing dirty/ soiled apron bugged me a bit as well. We chose the table out in the patio because it was a nice day, but our 3yo kept asking to see the aquarium inside so we went in twice while waiting for our food. The greeter was not happy as she had to open the door for us (as part of her job i guess), and we could see it from her face every time she had to do it for us. Will we come back? We have been eating at Wasabi for at least 10 years, and it must have changed owners. If I could give our dining experience 0 stars I would. Not to complain but maybe so someone would actually fix the issues. Cold food for our kids that sat out until we asked for it after 30 minutes, our sushi was just really the worst sushi we have ever had hands down. The tuna tasted old, the "snow crab" was a salad that was fishy and mushy & tasted old and funky. The avocado looked mushed up like they were using cheap guacamole. All 3 rolls and kids bento boxes really poor quality. The disappointing part is that wasabi used to be really really good for a long time. You can tell it's gone down hill by the way the restaurant is taken care of. Peeling paint, the walls damaged under the really pretty fish tank, and just everything beat up. I know staffing is tight, but this place has gone downhill. Fix it or sell it to someone who actually cares please. read more

Lunch came and went and next thing you know I'm looking at an early dinner so I decide to wait for happy hour to start at Wasabi. We sat at one of the little bar tables to take advantage of the specials. Only problem there is we couldn't fit all out food on the little tables so they had to bring it out in shifts! The prices on HH are so cheap we couldn't resist. We ordered a bunch of apps and a hibachi dinner to share for two people. Even though we skipped lunch, way over ordered and could have easily done without the dinner entree. It was great and served in a big boat with the veggies and chicken and then the rice in a separate dish making it easy to share. We really enjoyed all the apps too. The scallops, which I normally love, weren't my favorite but they were still good. It's just that everything else was so great too. The shishito peppers were cooked perfectly and just a little bit of heat to them. A bunch come in an order so you're definitely gonna want to share them. We left some on the plate with two of us. The lettuce wraps was a big portion and a good option if you're substituting a meal like we were. The rock shrimp have always been a favorite of mine so I knew they would be good. While all the food is good you can't beat that happy hour deal. For $20 you can get quality dinner and a couple drinks per person. read more
