Sandwiches are absolutely delicious and the woman making them is an absolute delight! But holy moly, whoever they had working the cashier today (2/16) was a total piece of work. She grunted maybe two words to us as if we were bothering her. The kicker was we were sitting outside on a rainy day since we had a dog... this woman locked the door on us. When we went inside, the woman behind the kitchen was again such a sweetheart but jeez, what is up with this cashier. I'm now seeing other reviews with feedback on her too and they also happen to be people of color so I'm really hoping it wasn't racially motivated. Hope the owners see this and can hire someone who isn't a complete sourpuss (or racist at worst ugh). read more

Today (05/27/2026), I unfortunately had the same experience many other reviewers here describe regarding stale bread and poor sandwich quality not matching the price. My sandwich had an overwhelming amount of lettuce, very little chicken salad, almost no flavor, and the bread tasted old and stale. After one bite, I went back to politely let them know. The woman at the register (according to my receipt, Jamie) immediately became defensive, as if I had personally attacked her. She told me they buy the bread and lettuce from the business across the street, which honestly is irrelevant from a customer's perspective. For an $18 sandwich, customers expect freshness, flavor, and quality. When I asked for a refund, her attitude became increasingly rude and hostile. I thanked her and started leaving, but as I walked out she loudly said, "I hope to never see you again," followed by "Don't come here again." I honestly do not know whether Jamie is an employee or the owner, but based on many of the reviews here, this does not seem like an isolated issue. The rude customer service appears to be a consistent pattern, and it is clearly hurting the business. read more

I came into Panino for a quick lunch with my mom. There's a fair amount of street parking but Santa Ynez was surprisingly busy for a weekday afternoon. Luckily we found a spot right in front of Panino! They have lots of sandwich options but I knew I wanted something along the lines of a Caprese sandwich. I opted for the lunch special which included half a sandwich as well as half a salad. I asked for the #22 sandwich (Caprese) and the harvest salad! I got an orange san pellegrino to drink. There's a really nice western vibe to the area where Panino is so naturally the outdoor seating went along with theme. The food came out quite fast and we dug in right away. Everything was really great! The salad had plenty of toppings and the flavors complimented each other really well. The sandwich had all the right textures, flavors, and was very good. I was very full at the end! My only complaint about Panino would be that it's a smidge pricey but overall it's a great place to go! read more

We were very disappointed by the lack of customer service provided by the cashier. She was unkind, short and was only interested in putting your order through. No "hello", no "how are you", just "what can I get you". Then, when we were almost done putting in our order we realized we meant to say half sandwich, half salad instead of full sandwich and she rudely says, "ok, now we have to start all over". We often visit Kalyra winery, and the ladies there suggested Panino for its quality food. It's always pleasant to sit on their large porch, sip wine, and have some lunch. I checked out Panino's many great menu choices online. We stopped there first and ordered a Greek sandwich and broccoli/cheddar soup. The sandwich (on focaccia bread) was so tasty. The #16 on focaccia is the go to for both me and my husband, but we haven't been disappointed in the occasions we've tried something a little different. We usually call ahead when we're traveling that way because they are usually quite busy and there tends to be a wait. They have tables out front for people who choose to eat there, which we've done a couple times. It's a cute little corner in the middle of Los Olivos. Our kids tend to be a bit picky when it comes to food so we generally order a basic turkey avocado and cheese sandwich or tuna sandwich for them too and the cost is a little less for the kids. Great salads- I tried the regular one and the harvest. Both delicious. The go to place when you're heading out to vineyards to taste all day. It came with fresh veggies on top, including cucumber and green pepper. There was something else that added a hint of sweetness. The sandwich was absolutely delicious! They have about 30 different sandwich choices (9 of which were Vegetarian) and about four different types of bread to choose from. I love Panino. I have been to los olivos, solvang, and santa ynez. I usually stay at Chumash when I am up here and did not realize there was one so close. We opted to try Santa Ynez today because I know the other two get super busy on weekends and it's not easy to drive in and drive out. This one is definitely my favorite and will be my go to from now on. They were very quick and friendly and there is an adorable slightly covered patio to eat at. It was very relaxing. Now for the food... Suuuuuuh gooood. A little pricey, but oh so good. These sandwiches are just a step above of the rest and as a food addict, I demand I have it every time I am in the area (live in Bakersfield). I get the 12 every time on focaccia. The Focaccia is definitely the best bread they have and I would not recommend the baguette... it is a hit firm. The 12 has roast chicken with pesto, pine nuts, feta, sundried tomatoes, mayo, and green leaf lettuce. I try the food of everyone I have gone with and they all taste great but 12 has my heart. My husband got the 19 today and really enjoyed it... roast chicken, prosciutto, tomato, basil, red onion, english stilton (like blue cheese), avocado, balsamic vinaigrette, and green leaf lettuce.
