Bang for your buck omakase. Went for a weekday lunch with a few friends. There was free parking in the strip mall lot. Walked in and was sat immediately. Ordered the omakase for $63~ per person. Comes with 14 pieces plus miso soup, chawanmushi, and choice of red bean or black sesame ice cream. Dishes came out fairly quickly. The miso soup was exactly that and the chawanmushi was piping hot - was pretty good. The sushi pieces came out and were all very good. Your normal pieces, along with things like toro, uni, and ikura. Was all very good. Would def come back - hard to beat the price with what you get!

Omakase Set

Kanpachi served a great array of sushi in their set. For around $65 you can get uni, sweet shrimp, and negi toro in the set! The quality of the sushi is pretty good. I really enjoyed it but the reason I gave them a 4/5 was because one of the pieces of sushi was a little fishy tasting. The rest were fantastic! The servers were very nice and attentive to our table. The inside is not too big so if you have a party larger than 4 I highly recommend calling and making a reservation.

14-piece omakase for only $59!? Kanpachi is a traditional edomae-style sushi restaurant that's been around since the 1978! We started coming here recently and love getting their small bites, and especially their affordable 14-piece omakase set for $59! The nigiri is so fresh, and their ebi miso soup is packed with flavor and umami. It also comes with chawanmushi and dessert, which is such a great deal. They even play the Dodgers game on a projector if there's a game on! Highly recommend stopping by for great quality and affordable Japanese food in Gardena.

Came here for Omakase and it was a wonderful experience. Service was attentive, genuine, and did not rush us even though they were busy. Everything was fresh and delicious. The omakase included miso soup and black sesame or red bean ice cream! A smaller mom and pop restaurant, seating is available at the counter for smaller parties, or if you have 4 - inside was a little smaller than expected but we loved our dining experience.

Came here a long time ago when it was Sen Nari. Got the Omakase for $59 for lunch which is a great deal. Started with miso soup and chawanmushi. The sushi overall was pretty good although a few pieces were overly sauced/seasoned. The chef was friendly and service was very good. Came back and tried the deluxe sushi which was good but the Omakase is definitely better. Would come back again.

A buddy brought me here and I fell in Love with this place. Great customer service and the food just can't be beat. My sushi go to spot. I will be back.

I've been here many times when prior restaurants occupied this space. This was the first time trying Kanpach Sushi and Sake. I got the No. 1 sushi combo. I also ordered the NegiToro HR. ($15) My wife got some assorted sushi, shrimp tempura, and soup. The Miso soup was amazing, filled with veggies and so good. I ended up ordering a few more pieces of sushi. It was also high quality and tasty. I appreciated that they make smaller rice nigiri, so there is a better balance of flavors. Be sure to try try the Abalone, the scallop and the salmon nigiri. Those were my favorites! The service was excellent and the overall atmosphere was very reminiscent of Japan. This is our new favorite sushi spot

...well, that didn't take long. As promised, we came back a second time and tried the Special Nigiri (11 pieces of sushi). Every bite felt intentional, not filler. Vibe is chill yet polished; the kind of place you'd bookmark for date night or bring your hangry self on a Tuesday night because you deserve the finer things in life.

Price has increased to $59 for omakase combo. But it is still a good deal! It comes with 14 pieces of sushi, bowl of miso soup, steamed egg and a scoop of ice cream - red bean or black sesame. We sat on a table and everything came on one plate instead of omakase style. Food was fresh and delicious! Highly recommend!

Deluxe Sashimi plate- Lunch Special

Ever since our last visit here, my husband has been asking to come back. This spot usually loses out to my favorite Izakaya spot across the street. However, this time I gave in and I'm glad I did. We walked in about an hour before the afternoon closing at 2pm and we were greeted and immediately seated. We noticed the lunch menu filled with Sashimi options and everything looked delicious. You can also order off the paper checklist. We shared the deluxe Sashimi which came with a variety of fish which included uni and unagi. Also added was Japanese egg, and vegetable sushi rolls. Everything was fresh and delicious! We also tried the soft shell crab roll. We needed a bit of sauce for this roll, besides the soy sauce, and they brought us the delicious sauce that the unagi was dressed with. Service was friendly and fairly fast. There is a sushi bar and a couple of tables in the main entrance and it appears that there is more seating if you continue to walk further into the restaurant. Overall, definitely worth a visit.

Great atmosphere and customer service. The sushi is fresh and tasty the quality and serving size is what expect. This is another true example of great Japanese food in the South Bay. The only thing that was not expecting was the carrots in the miso soup starter. It through me off and I don't like it. We came in on a Wednesday night my wife and I and it wasn't too busy. We ordered a sushi dinner plate and I had my favorite chirashi. The prices are ok for the food and experience. I would come back. Our friends said it was called another place before Kanpachi. Enjoy!

Still on the hunt for a local sushi place. My wife and I decided to give Kanpachi a try. We started out with a large bottle of Sapporo and sunomono with tako. I ordered thr special nigiri and my wife ordered the regular nigiri. We also trieectge spicy tuna roll. The sunomono was sliced nice and thin and the tako was not rubbery like so many other places. The spicy tuna was good and the nugiri dinners were delicious. We also was served miso soup which had lots of flavor and loaded with vegetables. The door to the men's room was a light hollow door, so it didnt knock me over like a heavy door would. The waitress even held the exit door open so I could easily walk through with my cane.

This sushi spot is a little bit on the pricer side BUT, you can taste the the difference in the sushi so its worth it. Everything was great and came out within a few minutes.

They even opened the door for us as we exited. Our food came quickly and tasted fresh and amazing. We loved all 6 handrolls we ordered. Our recommendations are the eel + tamago and the snow crab + spicy mayo. I highly recommend adding double rice to your handrolls (it's free!) We also ordered the sweet potato brulee which was the best dessert I've had in a long time. It was not too sweet and very light/refreshing tasting. We will absolutely be returning! They offered us free beer because of the World Cup games, but we declined because we dont drink. But it was a nice of them to offer. We got a bunch of handrolls. You can get double portion rice (for free) if you think the portion is too small which I did. Everything you see on the menu is just one piece, so it can get pricey if you eat a lot. The seaweed wrapper is so crunchy! I love it. The fish quality is decent but not too fatty. The sauces and wasabi makes up for the lack of fish fat, so it is still flavorful with every bite. Service was very quick, probably because it was practically empty at the time we went. The food came within 5 minutes of us ordering. Friendly waiter. Clean bathroom. Bathroom has 1 women's only and 1 family neutral (inside has a urinal) bathroom, so I'm guessing this is just a retrofitted men's bathroom. World Cup decorations everywhere at the time of writing this. Overall great spot to eat delicious handrolls.

I usually read through the Yelp comments and look at the photos before trying a new place, but this time I only checked the rating -- which was great -- and decided to go based on that and the FB post. Looking back, I probably should have read the reviews first. We didn't realize the bento boxes are only available during lunchtime, and we were also surprised to find out they don't have yakitori. Those were two things we were hoping to try. We came with a party and ordered several items, including the Akatsuki Special Hot Pot, which was recommended to us, along with other dishes. The tempura and karaage were definitely the highlights -- both were really good. The rest of the food was okay for our group, but unfortunately it didn't really satisfy our craving or stand out the way we were hoping. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and the staff was friendly. I think the biggest thing was that our expectations were set by what we saw on FB, and the items that caught our attention weren't available when we visited. I would recommend checking their current menu before going so you know what to expect. Maybe we'll come back another time to try their lunch menu and explore more of what they offer.

When we arrived for lunch, the place was quite festive with a mixture of young people, families with kids, and an ongoing lunch party with senior ladies. Luckily, we were able to get the last table, and the friendly waiter brought the water and menus right away. After browsing through their menu, we ordered the following items: Special Fish Combo (Spanish Mackerel): The Spanish mackerel was nicely grilled but lightly seasoned. It had quite a few bones, which took a little bit out of the enjoyment of the meal. The udon noodles had a very nice texture, however the broth was on the bland side. The California rolls were well made and flavorful. Tempura Combo: The shrimps were tender, however, the battered outer layer of the tempura was a tad thick and not quite airy. Like Fish Combo, the udon had a bland broth, and the California rolls were fine. Our main issue was the 50-minute wait time for the meals. As a courtesy, the restaurant definitely should have informed us about the delay.
