Food Wife and I came here after craving some really good quality sushi and we were in the area, so we decided to check this place out. We ordered 1 for each of us the omakase nigiri combo, which is 14 pcs of sushi, steamed egg, and miso soup. For the price, I would definitely say that it was worth it with everything that you get and the quality of the sushi they give you. The fish were all really good quality and really well made. The miso soup and steamed egg were both good bonuses that came with it. Service/Ambiance On a friday evening dinner, place wasn't too packed and you had an option for either bar seating in front of the chefs or just a regular table. We had opted for a regular table, but next time we'd definitely go for the bar seating as they make it in front of you and serve it to you one by one rather than serving all the choices in one plate. The staff were all really nice and we didn't have to wait long for our sushi. Loved the overall vibe of the place, it was as if I was transported to japan and definitely loved all the dodgers merch on display

A great selection of authentic sushi at affordable prices! Their lunch menu is unbeatable and the portion is generous. All items are promptly prepared fresh behind the sushi bar. Service is attentive and it is not hard to see why it is such a popular spot!

Came here for dinner and sure glad I did. I got the omakase and they hit it out of the park! Great price and amazing quality. Everything from decor to food seemed very authentic and had a chill vibe. The fish was all fresh and came out quickly. I really enjoyed the steamed egg too, well made. There was plenty of parking in the lot. I was a little bit early for dinner so there wasn't any wait and i was seated immediately. Staff was very friendly. For dessert, we received ice cream and got to chose from red bean or black sesame. I got the red bean and enjoyed that to finish off the meal. I left feeling full and satisfied. Give this place a try, you won't leave disappointed!

Very good and fresh sushi. I came here with my husbands family and we celebrated his moms bday. We all ordered omakase the sushi plate came out within 5 min. Lots of different nigiri sushi. The uni was my favorite. There was toro, maguro, salmon, kanpachi, squid, salmon roe, egg and more. We also had chawan mushi which had shiitake and it was creamy. At the end we get either red bean or black sesame ice cream. Omakase sushi plate is $63 before tip and tax. All the chef were Japanese felt authentic and they were all welcoming! I liked the paper door (shoji) because it felt like Japan in Gardena.

Amazing 14 course omakase deal for $63! Tucked away in a plaza this place is a hidden gem. We made a reservation for Friday night and were seated at the counter. It's super lively when we went with customers drinking with the sushi chefs. Only thing for me was sitting at the counter was a bit squishy and my shoulders were very close to the next person, other than that service and food were great. 14 course comes with chawanmushi, different fish varieties with interesting sauce pairings, unagi, tamago, miso with shrimp head, and ice cream at the end. My favorite was the fatty toro - it melted in our mouths! We also ordered a hamachi cama which was grilled nicely and ankimo was very fresh. Highly reco and I'll be back!

Bang for your buck omakase. Went for a weekday lunch with a few friends. There was free parking in the strip mall lot. Walked in and was sat immediately. Ordered the omakase for $63~ per person. Comes with 14 pieces plus miso soup, chawanmushi, and choice of red bean or black sesame ice cream. Dishes came out fairly quickly. The miso soup was exactly that and the chawanmushi was piping hot - was pretty good. The sushi pieces came out and were all very good. Your normal pieces, along with things like toro, uni, and ikura. Was all very good. Would def come back - hard to beat the price with what you get!

14-piece omakase for only $59!? Kanpachi is a traditional edomae-style sushi restaurant that's been around since the 1978! We started coming here recently and love getting their small bites, and especially their affordable 14-piece omakase set for $59! The nigiri is so fresh, and their ebi miso soup is packed with flavor and umami. It also comes with chawanmushi and dessert, which is such a great deal. They even play the Dodgers game on a projector if there's a game on! Highly recommend stopping by for great quality and affordable Japanese food in Gardena.

Came here a long time ago when it was Sen Nari. Got the Omakase for $59 for lunch which is a great deal. Started with miso soup and chawanmushi. The sushi overall was pretty good although a few pieces were overly sauced/seasoned. The chef was friendly and service was very good. Came back and tried the deluxe sushi which was good but the Omakase is definitely better. Would come back again.

Kanpachi served a great array of sushi in their set. For around $65 you can get uni, sweet shrimp, and negi toro in the set! The quality of the sushi is pretty good. I really enjoyed it but the reason I gave them a 4/5 was because one of the pieces of sushi was a little fishy tasting. The rest were fantastic! The servers were very nice and attentive to our table. The inside is not too big so if you have a party larger than 4 I highly recommend calling and making a reservation.

I've been here many times when prior restaurants occupied this space. This was the first time trying Kanpach Sushi and Sake. I got the No. 1 sushi combo. I also ordered the NegiToro HR. ($15) My wife got some assorted sushi, shrimp tempura, and soup. The Miso soup was amazing, filled with veggies and so good. I ended up ordering a few more pieces of sushi. It was also high quality and tasty. I appreciated that they make smaller rice nigiri, so there is a better balance of flavors. Be sure to try try the Abalone, the scallop and the salmon nigiri. Those were my favorites! The service was excellent and the overall atmosphere was very reminiscent of Japan. This is our new favorite sushi spot

...well, that didn't take long. As promised, we came back a second time and tried the Special Nigiri (11 pieces of sushi). Every bite felt intentional, not filler. Vibe is chill yet polished; the kind of place you'd bookmark for date night or bring your hangry self on a Tuesday night because you deserve the finer things in life.

Price has increased to $59 for omakase combo. But it is still a good deal! It comes with 14 pieces of sushi, bowl of miso soup, steamed egg and a scoop of ice cream - red bean or black sesame. We sat on a table and everything came on one plate instead of omakase style. Food was fresh and delicious! Highly recommend!

"Old‑School Charm at its best, Big Flavor, and Toshi Running the Show" Walking into this Sushi spot feels like stepping into a time capsule of Japanese tradition, warm wood, calm energy, and that unmistakable "this place has stories" ambience. It's an old‑school sushi spot in every sense: no gimmicks, no trendy neon signs, just pure craftsmanship and a bar where Chef Toshi himself keeps the vibe social, friendly, and effortlessly smooth. The service is excellent, the kind where you're greeted, remembered, and taken care of without ever feeling rushed. Chef Toshi has that rare ability to run the bar, chat with guests, and still plate dishes so beautiful you start wondering if he has extra hands hidden somewhere. "Special thanks to the whole entire staff!" And the food? Oh yeah, my stomach had a field day. Highlights from our feast * Spicy tuna, bold, fresh, and the kind that makes you pause mid‑bite like "okay, this place is serious." * Hamachi, buttery, clean, and dangerously smooth. * Sashimi combination, a lineup of pristine cuts that look like they were plated by a sushi architect. * Sushi combination, true classic, balanced, and executed with that old‑school precision you only get from a seasoned chef. Thank you Toshi!! * Karaage with garlic, crispy, juicy, and scientifically engineered to disappear from the plate too fast. * Black cod -- A must try, so delicious! Omakase style, melt‑in‑your‑soul perfection. The kind of dish that makes you close your eyes for a second and pretend you're in a food heaven. So good! * Sake, Wow..so smooth, delicious, and the perfect companion to everything we ordered. Not too sweet, not too sharp, just right. So delicious and dangerous! "I love it!" Between the old‑school ambience, the excellent service, the special attention vibe thanks to Chef Toshi, and the outstanding food, Toshi Sushi is one of those Gardena gems that proves tradition still wins, especially when the sake is flowing and the black cod is life‑changing. "One bite at a time!" "I will definitely be coming back really soon!" Miguel C.

They share the lot with a ramen shop and bar so I would think parking would be challenging at night. My wife ordered a lunch special that included tempura, chicken karaage, assorted rolls, and 3 pieces of nigiri sushi that was very reasonably priced. It also comes with an egg custard, salad and miso soup. I ordered an assortment of nigiri sushi that included salmon, tuna, sea urchin, mackerel, unagi and a negi toro hand roll. The sea urchin was some of the best I've ever had. The only one that disappointed me a bit was the hand roll. It wasn't bad but didn't match the level of the other sushi I ordered. Everything else was superb and we left very satisfied. I would come back more often but my wife always wants to try new places so it takes me a while to get back to places I really enjoyed previously. Hopefully, Toshi will be an exception so I can return very soon for another round of amazing sushi.

I got to try items from not only my plate, but hers as well. The food was hit and miss. The beef teriyaki, which they cooked exactly to the doneness I requested, was incredibly good. The steak was tender - the teriyaki sauce was spot on. I also liked the macaroni salad which was hiding behind the lettuce. However, the sashimi and tempura missed the mark. While the slices of sashimi (e.g., tuna, salmon, and yellow tail) were fresh, they were cut way too thick. The assortment of tempura tasted good, and was crunchy, but was battered way too heavily. It felt like the batter was the focal point of the dish instead of the vegetables and shrimp, which I could barely taste. The service was excellent. Our server was attentive even though the restaurant was packed with people. The food and drinks came out fast. They served our sodas in chilled mugs, which was a nice touch. I didn't enjoy the fact that it was uncomfortably warm in the restaurant (it was hot that day). I don't think the AC was running. However, I won't count this against the establishment since the server stopped by our table to apologize about the warm temperature in the room. Some final thoughts about this place. -We came right at opening. The place filled up pretty fast. -There was plenty of parking behind the restaurant. -If this restaurant had executed the small things more effectively, as opposed to focusing on preparing the food quickly, this could have easily been a five star write up.
