A little dry but flavor was bright and bold. Tonkatsu ramen- noodles were good. I appreciated the standard portion size as opposed to an extra large bowl with a bunch of extras. Decided to try this restaurant and had a great experience! We came on a Saturday night around 6:30pm and the wait was 20 minutes. They get your phone number and text you when your table is ready which is nice. The service is really great. All of our food came out within 5 minutes of ordering. The food was really good, my husband got the yuzu shio wanton ramen with pork and he made it a combo with the spicy tuna rice cake and salad and he loved it. I got the yuzu shio wanton ramen with chicken. Mine came with chicken breast pieces which I knew would be less good than the pork. Both of these ramens also have one chicken dumpling in them. I wish that they had an option to just have chicken dumplings instead of chicken breast. I also would've liked to taste more yuzu flavor. I typically like ramen with fatter chewier noodles too, but it actually was nice that the noodles were thinner because it went well with the yuzu/lighter feel of the broth. The eggs were excellent. Uh oh... what happened to this place? I was craving all my favorites and every single bite left me disappointed. The flavors were off and I think the culprit was the lack of freshness. There was a bitter note in the poke cone that threw off my palette. The pork in the tonkatsu ramen was not torched properly so it lacked the smokey flavor and charred texture. The server agreed and took it back but having improperly cooked pork in my broth was a buzz kill. An amazing spot in a beautiful village. I had just gotten off a plane and really needed something to eat. Despite it being 90° outside, I just wanted a big bowl of Ramen. Kansui delivered! Service was quick, and the food was delicious. My bowl of Ramen was amazingly warm and tasty, and the side of pickled cabbage helped cut through the richness of the broth. I think we must visited Kansui over 3 times in the past week or so and either for a quick lunch or some easy dinner we always enjoyed ourselves and had a great time here. My favorite ramen dish is their Dandan noodle. It has good zing without being too spicy or salty. Chicken karaage sando is a happy surprise find from their summer menu. If you like chicken karaage I would highly recommend give it a try. It's much bigger than I thought and chicken is very crispy and juicy paired well with the sauce. We tried the tonkotsu ramen, which leaned more toward a dashi-forward rich profile rather than a fatty pork depth you'd expect from a classic tonkotsu. That said, it was still a solid bowl, especially considering the local ramen scene in the area. The surprise favorite, though, was the yuzu shio wonton ramen. Kansui Ramen is a good ramen shop, but a wee bit expensive. We got the combo's which include a nice fresh green salad , a small side and the bowl of ramen. For our sides we ordered the fried wonton, which were okay. And the small chicken karaage bowl. I like the chicken a little smaller pieces, but it was decent. For the ramen, we ordered the yuzu shio ramen which was good, a nice flavor, although not my favorite Shio ramen. And the vegan tan tan men, which was a little spicy and overall a good bowl of ramen. The service was very good, timely and had everything we needed. The atmosphere of the restaurant is a nice modern little restaurant. Happy that I finally got to try Kansui Ramen as it's been on my list to try for a while now. Ramen is always better in the moment but with traveling I opted to take it to go. She was very organized and efficient over the phone and sweet. When I arrived to pickup my food it was ready right on time and nicely packaged. The same gal that took my phone order cashed me out and she was just as lovely in person. The restaurant itself is darling. Upon pulling up I was a little bummed that I wasn't actually dining in as this restaurant is very cute and cozy. Loved the neon signage and the layout is nice. This restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating which is a win. Definitely would come back to dine inside as this restaurant was clean and looked very nice. Prices were average, $18 for ramen not bad at all. The ramen itself id give a solid 4 stars. I got just a classic tonkotsu and was very pleased with it. The broth was creamy and well balanced. Seasoned egg was average but I liked the texture of the bamboo a lot. I think the reason I dock this one star down is that while it was good it wasn't anything special. I was definitely content with it and it's a good bowl of ramen, there are just others in the area I like a tad bit more. I'm pretty picky on my pork and the pork option here was fine, no frills. If you are a ramen lover this place will definitely satisfy your craving and it was good and tasty. Would I come back? Westlake is SOOOOO lucky to have this ramen place. I live in Santa Barbara and although we have a great ramen spot (Nikka Ramen), I still like trying other ramen spots. I would typically have to drive to Sawtelle or Little Tokyo for some authentic ramen. Tonkatsu is always creamy, but it can always vary slightly in flavor. What I love about Kansui is how the broth isn't too rich or heavy. I'm usually a thick noodle kind of girl, but the thin noodles here go perfectly. On top of that, their chicken karaage was perfectly seasoned and crispy. It definitely doesn't need the sauce. A squeeze of lime will do just fine. Their service is so great too. I've been eyeing Kansui Ramen for a while, if I was honest with you I was reluctant to try, BUT only because I've never tried tonkotsu ramen before. I love ramen and I haven't really explored besides miso ramen. Tonight was the night, I ordered the tonkotsu ramen combo w/ the salmon poke bowl and the chicken karaage rice bowl. All I can say is yes, yesss and yes. Everything I had ordered was delicious! I can now say that I have tried tonkotsu ramen before and it definitely will not be the last. The ramen was so flavorful, I was nervous about the noodles, but the noodles were cooked perfectly as well. The chicken karaage is supposed to be one of their popular dishes and I can see why. It's crispy, juicy and flavorful. The only criticism I have is that there was a tiny bone in my salmon poke, but that didn't stop me from grubbin and lovin on my food. So glad we stopped in this small location in Westlake. Located in a shopping center parking lot it's a small structure with limited indoor seating but a nice sized patio seating. Minimalist design, very sleek, intimate vibe. Low music playing in background. Seating was limited only to about 4 booths of 4 seats. There were some tall bar stools but not comfy or accessible friendly seating to eat ramen. I was getting a little nervous that the menu was so simple and had a few choices for dishes. The drink list was bigger than the ramen and appetizer choices but I realized after I tasted my dish- on why exactly that it. Our server Clara was friendly and very attentive. She even noticed we liked the pickled cabbage and brought us some more. She also warmed up our green tea. We ordered the Japanese fried chicken appetizer and it came with pickled napa cabbage with a hint of yuzu it was crunchy and refreshing . I finished it all and wanted more. The ramen arrived in a beautiful bowl and all I can say is that it was so flavorful and the noodles were bouncy and swirling in the broth made them even more tasty. I inhaled my dish. I asked Clara to give my compliments to the Chef and he came out to say hello! That was surprisingly cool. He chatted with us for a few minutes and he was very humble. Prices $$. Was a little skeptical to go to a ramen place in Westlake Village ngl, but this was pretty damn good. I went with a coworker to Kansui Ramen and we both got the Tonkatsu ramen (regular spice). Had a bit of a kick to it and was good for someone like me who likes medium spice, but still would like to enjoy the actual flavors of the food :) Speaking of flavors, the noodles were nice and al dente and very traditional type, that I would normally find at Ramen Nagi. Broth could have a bit more pork flavor, but for what it was worth, I loved it. It with a jammy egg, nice green onions and bamboo shoots. I got mine as a combo so it came with a side salad and a mini pork chashu bowl. Probably wouldn't get the combo again as it was smaller in size than I had hoped. About a small bowl of each. Came here around 12:30 pm on a Thursday with my coworkers. There were a few people eating inside but they weren't busy at all for the lunch rush because they're pretty new. We decided to sit outside because the weather was nice. Everyone who attended to us were very friendly and helpful. I decided to get the tan-tan ramen ($19) and fried chicken wontons ($14) on our waiter's recommendations. The food was ready within 10 minutes or so. The wontons came first. Would 100% get these again. A perfect crispy texture but also the soft skin of the wonton contrasted nicely. The chicken was also soft, flavorful, and piping hot on the inside. Tasted absolutely delicious with the lime. The ramen was next. The chashu pork was savory and meaty. There wasn't too much, if any, fat, which was good for me because I'm not a huge fan of fatty meat. There were plenty of noodles. The soup was pretty good, it actually didn't have that strong of a pork or nutty flavor and seemed to be "watered down" from the cream. Still good overall and had a nice spice. Pretty good choice for ramen compared to some other ones around the area. A little pricey but good location. This new restaurant is a gem! My coworkers and I were grabbing a celebratory lunch and were craving a meal with actual spices which is a hard find in this area. Luckily Kansui delivered!! We came around 1pm on a Friday and the restaurant was pretty empty. We were greeted, sat and serviced immediately upon entry! There is a good amount of tables and booth space inside. We ordered a couple beers: asahi and Sapporo. Lovely beer, good taste and we were given chilled glasses to pour our brew into. We also ordered their Tan Tan, Tonkatsu and Spicy Tonkatsu. Our soups were out fairly quickly and very steamy. Immediately upon our first sips we all did synchronized nods as we were all in love with our broth!! It was truly amazing. My coworker described as "this is bringing me back to life" I loved the creaminess, spice and ingredients. Overall this place has quality ramen, but the price is pretty steep, especially if you choose to add an egg for an additional $2. First visit and likely not my last to this new ramen joint in Westlake. The menu is straightforward but all the items were very high quality, well presented and so appetizing. It has been open for about a month and a half and we came around 5:30 on a Friday night and I am shocked this place is empty. They have ample seating selections indoors but we opted to take a table out inthe patio with a table of six. It was such a lovely evening that the cool breeze combined with the beers, warm ramen and fried chicken Kaarage and wontons made it a perfect al fresco summer occasion. The service is top notch and attentive and I felt they went the extra mile tonight, our entire party felt well taken care of. Okay but seriously for the price, this food is top notch. The quality of ingredients beat out a lot of divy-ramen places scattered throughout the conejo valley and sfv. My party of 6 ordered 5 ramens and we all cleared through our bowls. Some are ramen aficionados and others are casual eaters and we all agreed the menu at Kansui meets every pallet and delivers a lot for the value. Portion sizes are generous and great for a group to share at least one app before diving into their personal ramen bowls. The bowls come standard with toppings, but I do suggest selecting more from the add-ons. The soft boiled eggs are cooked perfectly and come stamped (would love more info about that). Every bite was perfection in the ramen itself. Both the Kaarage and wontons are also pleasant. Next time I'd like to dig into their other apps. Long story short. Go to this place like right now if you're considering ramen and before people realize what a gem it is. I've had the taste for some ramen for the past two weeks and this place definitely satisfied my tastebuds! We went in the afternoon and it was no one on the inside and only a few ppl on the patio. It reminded me of a ramen spot in Ginza, Tokyo, the modern, low back booths really made it a vibe. The server was helpful explaining the menu and sharing her recommendations. I went for the Tan-Tan Ramen, my husband got the Tonkotsu, and I ordered chicken and noodles for our picky toddler. There was also an option to make your ramen a combo for an extra $7 and my husband got the chicken karaage and a side salad. He didn't think the combo was worth the price but I did! That karaage was cooked perfectly, crispy, sweet and a little salty, paired with the onions, perfection in each bit. They gave us about 3 pieces. The salad was also good, it was all gone and I didn't even get to taste it! At least my hubby ate his veggies. Now to the ramen- the Tan Tan was amazing, not too spicy but had a bit of a kick. My toddler even tried some and kept slurping! The noodles were light but filling and the pork was sliced and cooked great, nice and tender and flavorful. My husband said he enjoyed his Tonkotsu even with the chicken. My daughter on the other hand, enjoyed her noodles and ice water but refused to eat the chicken. We gladly took care of it for her, it was tender and soaked up the flavor of the broth so well. The portion was average, just enough to get satisfied.
